TW: miscarriage, drug use, human trafficking, overdosing
Hi fellow human beings,
I am feeling melancholy this morning because four years ago I had a miscarriage but if the baby was born full term their birthday would be around this time. So looking back it makes my heart heavy especially because it was really traumatizing. In 2020 I was in active addiction and on one occasion I was talking to someone who wanted to get high with me and he said I did not have to do anything sexual with him that we could just hang out. My dumbass believed him so I agreed for him to uber me to his house. Once I got there that is when things escalated very fast. The first thing he said to me was are you ready for me to fuck you. At that point I knew I was in trouble but there was no way I could leave because he was the one who was going to uber me home so I was stuck. When we got into his place he told me he had a vasectomy and so after that night I did not question the fact my period was stopped for two reasons, one being he said he had a vasectomy and number two is that it was not abnormal for my periods to be inconsistent. So when the second week of 2021 came along I was not expecting to have a miscarriage because I had no idea I was pregnant. This put me into a state of shock, self-judgment and anger for multiple reasons. One main reason I experienced self-judgement and anger is that the man trafficked me because every four hits of meth which was my drug of choice he would force me into his room. The last time he forced me into his room I ended up overdosing. I lost conscience and when I came to his head was on my chest and he was checking my wrist trying to my find my pulse and the first thing he said was I lost your pulse while you where not conscience. Nothing about this night hit home for a long time until I had the miscarriage. So fast forward to today the baby would have been four years old and I would have been a single mom but thats not the way life went.

I love that DDBA is pressing into issues of justice, but gosh, as someone in this profession, I still feel like they're avoiding the complex stuff.
Matt doesn't wanna defend a rich person ripping off teachers: cool, no one takes issue with that.
Matt points out that the jail system doesn't help when crimes are motivated by poverty: little riskier, some people consider it "woke," but it's still hardly complicated.
When are we going to see Matt defending a domestic abuser? A fentanyl trafficker? A meth addict who's neglecting their baby? A drunk driver who killed someone? Never mind a perpetrator of sexual crimes.
These are the crimes I interact with day in and day out, way more than financial crimes.
I'm just going to say it: I don't think a show can claim to speak about criminal justice when the only crimes that are addressed relate to theft.

#news 900 pounds of Meth seized by FBI in Tim Walz Minnesota - Guillermo Mercado Chaparro, and Joel Casas-Santiago arrested - part of bigger Mexican Drug Cartel investigation
#mexico
Experts have highlighted Minnesota’s role as a cartel hub due to its sanctuary city status, transportation corridors and growing meth demand.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has announced that the FBI seized the load worth up to $25 million in two different traffic stops in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area, specifically involving South Minneapolis - which is Ilhan Omar's district.
#Minnesota
The take down is part of a bigger operation targeting drug trafficking rings - that are most likely being run by international organizations.
Bongino saying the bust was part of a combined effort with the DEA and is part of a bigger investigation - promising more information soon.
Two men, identified as Guillermo Mercado Chaparro, 44, and Joel Casas-Santiago, were arrested during the traffic stops.
Chaparro faces two counts of first-degree drug sale, while Casas-Santiago faces one count.
Both are being held in Hennepin County Jail, with court appearances scheduled for July 9.
Chaparro reportedly admitted to involvement in drug trafficking after his arrest, according to criminal complaints, though Casas-Santiago’s statement status is unclear.
The arrests took place after an undercover officer purchased one pound of methamphetamine from Chaparro, then conducted surveillance which led to the larger seizure.
Police used a drug detection dog and surveillance of vehicles (a Tacoma truck and a Jeep)
The 900-pounds is similar to the June 3rd seizure from a Burnsville storage unit, which triggered raids across eight Twin Cities locations.
That operation uncovered gold-plated guns and “Scarface” imagery, suggesting cartel involvement.
The July 8 seizure may be an extension of this ongoing investigation into a Mexican Cartel drug trafficking ring, likely linked to the Sinaloa or CJNG cartels, as noted in past Minnesota cases.
There was 142% increase in meth seizures in 2024 (2,080 pounds) and a pace exceeding that in 2025.

"they already crossed the border illegally. breaking one law means they are likely to break others" oh so you've never gone over the speed limit? You've never made a sketchy u-turn? You've never tossed on your emergency lights and run in for a quick stop when you're in a no parking zone? You've never littered? You never nabbed a candy bar as a kid or did some light trespassing as a teen? You never drank before you were 21? You never took a weird pill in college? You've always set off only legal fireworks? Landlords, you've never looked the other way about a cheeky little renter's rights or fire code issue? Politicians, you've never done any insider trading? Business owners, you've always reported your taxes and business expenses correctly to the cent?
"oh but that's different--" why? You're justified in doing something a little bit underhanded or shady for your own gain or amusement, but people in distress fleeing a bad situation and trying to get somewhere where they can live another day are irredeemable criminals if they don't subject themselves to the lengthy(!!!) and confusing process of navigating the immigration process before they can even have the stability they're seeking?
And even if you are the paragon of moral virtue and you've never done any of these things, you KNOW you know plenty of people who have. What should we do to prevent them from committing future crimes? They're clearly a danger to their community and even the nation. If you've committed one crime or misdeed, no matter how small, you might as well be dealing meth and trafficking people, obviously. We gonna lock em all up, or are we only worried about brown people? 🤨 Be so for real

Trigger warning: auditory hallucinations, that time of the month, trauma, infertility, miscarriage
Good morning fellow human beings,
Today I am feeling a little scatter brained but thats normal for me when I start getting closer to that time of the month. Like ten days before it starts I turn into an anxious more irritable mess because it triggers my gender dysphoria and my auditory hallucinations like to tell me that I am either bleeding to much and I need to go to the hospital or that I am having another miscarriage. Both of these things are really upsetting for me. In 2021 I had a miscarriage and I was unaware that I was pregnant because my periods are hit and miss but also because my trafficker told me that he had a vasectomy so there was no reason for me to even think that I was pregnant until I had the miscarriage at home alone between 14 to 16 weeks. So every time my period is about to start the voices start talking about the miscarriage telling me it was my fault, that I killed the baby because I was taking one of my medications that can impact fertility and that can impact the baby, and because I was still smoking weed. So its been a difficult past two days but I am grateful that this time I was able to remember to check how many days away I was from my period because my brain was just hopping from one anxious thought to another anxious thought. Currently I am also feeling grateful that my therapist responded to my check in and she was able to remind me to check my birth control to see how many days tell my period. For me birth control is not about not wanting to be pregnant but its because its the only thing that regulates my periods because without it they are all over the place. So right now I am engaging in all the coping skills I need to that I know help me relax and I am going to go to a virtual NA meeting this afternoon to have some extra support. This particular meeting is one I really love because its an interactive meeting. So its called the Me Too meeting and the host will say a statement like “ I knew I was an addict at my first meeting.” And then everyone who can relate to that will raise their virtual hand. Its one of my favorite meetings of the week because its nice to see that I am not the only one that relates to certain statements like “ I experienced trauma during active addiction.” Or “ even when I over dosed multiple times I could not stop using.” So I am excited to go to that meeting and then the other meeting that I really enjoy that is also happening today is one where each person calls out their clean time and I like it just because it shows me that it is possible to actually continue to stay clean for long periods of time. Also I just want to say thank you for letting me info dump. I appreciate finding a safe place with safe people who I can take my mask off even if its not all the way off, its a work in progress.

Aizawa, sleep deprived at 2AM: what the fuck did you do this time
Izuku: so basically: we where on our way to Wendy’s but got a little bit lost and found and secret meth lab, so we started investigating but some crackheads appeared out of nowhere and kidnapped Uraraka. We said “hell nah, we need our bestie back” so we started formulating a weapon to defeat the feral gremlins. While we were doing that we accidentally found the cure for cancer but we traded it for 7 grams of cocaine, which we then traded for an AK-47. After that, we prostituted Todoroki to get some aim for the gun.
Todoroki: it was worth it.
Izuku: when we were all set, we killed the mafia boss that employed the crackheads, but then we realized that everyone fucking hated that guy so we decided to become the new bosses and transformed the drug network the guy had into a human trafficking network that specializes on dwarfs with albinism.
Aizawa: … *utterly shocked*
Aizawa: I-I MEAN… NO! VERY BAD! NO HUMAN TRAFFICKING! GO TO YOUR ROOMS U LITTLE FUCKERS!
Dekusquad: AAAAAWWWWWWWWW…
Aizawa, later: god these damn children will be the death of me *downs a whole bottle of vodka* fucking gremlins
Uraraka: wait guys we forgot to tell him that I fucked the mafia boss

hey, how are you doing? have you drank enough water today?
so, i have a question for you, and if you don't want to answer it it's completely fine. i've been writing a fic where reader is a sex worker, and i wanted to ask you as an actual sex worker what are some of the things i should pay attention to. like, what are the cliches that make you roll your eyes, or even the straight up desrespectful things people usually write when portraying sex workers. also, if you could share a time or story where you saw someone nail the characterization and portraying of the profession i would be eternally grateful.
thank you sm for the attention and have a good day! 🤗
SO! I'm sorry it took some time to get to this but as I said the other day I wanted to talk to some friends I've worked with about it!
Down below, mdni blah blah
Good representations of sex work are nigh on impossible to find in media and it's also really hard to accurately gauge what one finds 'accurate' because we (sex workers) all have wildly different experiences with our jobs. It also depends on what type of sex worker you're portraying: a stripper will have a very different experience to an escort, and the same for a cam girl vs a domme.
I was a stripper, an escort and briefly a cam girl and I've been in the industry like 10 years on and off. I'm out of it now and I don't know that I'll ever go back. I just don't really want to tbh it's very tiring for me.
So, off the top of my head, I'd say Ti West's X does a nice job because it shows that the stars are human with wants and characters outside of their job. I've heard that the new movie Anora is good, but I haven't seen it yet and I've also heard it sucks, so ymmv. Avoid stuff like that dogshit JLO movie Hustler's or whatever. Those are ass lol. One of my Reigen fics is a camgirl one and it's just used as a plot device, if you want an example of that. It's on here and my ao3.
From personal experience, I would just say the main thing is to treat the character as a normal person.
It's just a job; some of us like our jobs and some of us hate them, but as a sex worker, it can be viewed incorrectly. If we're having a bad day it's not because we're doing sex work. It's because maybe our manager sucks or a client was an asshole (like in any other job), or maybe we're just pissed off. Whatever. It's because something happened and we're annoyed, but we're not starving, abused, shivering little victims that have been taken advantage of.
Equally, good days happen. Again, not because sex work is dead easy and I get to sit on my ass and make loads of cash for doing fuck all (this does NOT happen by the way, and anyone who tells you it does is either a pimp/has something to gain or is just lying), but because maybe I've struck lucky with a generous client or maybe I'm just feeling myself in the nice outfit I'm wearing. Whatever. Just normal stuff.
We're also not all doing coke or meth or whatever. Most of the time I (and my colleagues) would drink a bit or smoke weed together after a shift. The swer needs to stay sharp! They can't rinse their client of money if they're blackout drunk; they need to get their client drunk, not the other way around! A few glasses of expensive champagne are nice but getting wasted is dangerous and costs you a bag. I used to dance at a club that had special champagne carpets; literally upholstered for girls to knock their champagne glasses over on (subtly done behind the client's back and done on purpose so the dancer didn't have to drink it time after time) and the carpet would absorb it without getting that gross boozy smell over time. Works really well lol.
To circle back to the victim thing - 99.9% of women in SEX WORK enjoy their jobs for the most part. Can't say it's every day but you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who loves their job all the time. The people who are forced into prostitution/stripping/etc are actual victims and are not sex workers. They are sex-trafficking victims. Those two things are not remotely the same and every time they're conflated it pisses me, and other workers, O F F. It's a disservice to victims and it endangers everyone, including civilian women (civ is a term used to describe non-swers).
The concept of doing 'extras' in a strip club, specifically, is generally bullshit. A strip club is a no-contact establishment where a client watches a person (usually a female or AFAB person) dance and converses with them. Extras might refer to anything from kissing to full sex. That isn't to say it doesn't happen, but it shouldn't and imo it puts other workers who don't offer that service at risk. If you want to write this happening into a fic (fic is fantasy, not irl, of course) then just add a disclaimer that this isn't industry standard and should never be expected if the reader ever visits a club.
I would just say your ultimate goal is to treat the character who is a sex worker as a human with wants and goals outside of their job, and to maintain good boundaries during an engagement with a client. Don't write the client character as someone who is pushy and disrespectful, and then have the sex worker character just simply give in and go 'oh okay zaddy whatever you want'. When that happens irl it's just assault, and I've seen grown men get their shit ROCKED by girls (and have done it myself, those stripper heels are weapons!) when they've pushed their luck like that.
Bad things do happen in the club/during meets (prostitution engagements) etc but don't abuse the character for shock value. It's okay to depict it if necessary but do so tastefully.
In real life, I hate a captain save-a-hoe. This is a client who begs you to leave the 'lifestyle' by promising to take financial care of you, to treat you better than all the others, to tell you you're 'worth so much more than this baby' etc. But in fics, especially if you're writing a sleazy character (Stan, say), I think it can be used in a really funny way. They're generally pretty pathetic specimens and almost always cheapo liars. Use them wisely and never let your character fall for them. Scam them back lol.
All in all, a lot comes down to how you deploy your plot and stuff. Do it sensibly and keep in mind a sex worker is a human with human feelings and emotions. They aren't a sex robot or a fuck machine. You can play with the fantasy element because it's a fic but don't focus on violence in such a setting, if that's part of the plot, because it's just rarely done accurately and almost always makes sex work look bad.
This next bit isn't aimed at you anon but is more of a cover-my-ass deal! If anyone is reading this and thinking about going into sex work: Do your research. You won't make millions (or even thousands) like people keep saying. It's the same as hitting it big in business, it's rare and is like a 1 in 100000 thing. Do not go into it if you're under 25. You'll be eaten alive. If you're thinking about it, do intense research for a long time. It's really important to stay safe and this is a very dangerous job.
Finally, if you're writing a specific sex work area and want more concentrated advice then let me know because that might make it a bit easier to give. Also, if you're writing for MP100 or GF and you want help, I'd be happy to beta for you too :) Just hit me up!

Hey, just wanted to say sorry that happened to you— had a similar experience of a lady doing something similar in Toronto way back in 2016 and like. Luckily I was with a buddy but still. Sorry there’s not much I can say that I think would help, but stay safe out there.
Thank you for your support <3
And yeah, i used to live in Toronto and the TTC had its fair share of interesting people, to put it lightly. But in all honesty I'd take the TTC over ETS any day of the week.
The difference between Toronto and Edmonton in my experience is that Toronto has a lot more quantity of crazy, but only a miniscule amount of that is dangerous. Edmonton has less overall crazy, but a good 50% of it is potentially dangerous crazy.
(Obvious disclaimer that I KNOW its because of the city and Alberta at large abandoning homeless people and shuttering safe consumption sites and rehab centers. I KNOW.)
^at the same time though, it really bothers me when people on this site act like hard drugs aren't a compounding problem when it comes to violence, especially randomly chosen public violence in broad daylight. It bothers me when people act like something targeting marginalized communities means that that something is somehow harmless, or can never be a compounding variable in randomly chosen violent crime rates.
I live in a city absolutely ravaged by illicit meth trafficking, whose businesses shuttered en masse in 2020, in a province whose politicians couldn't give less of a fuck about rehabilitation as they focus their efforts on what pronouns kids go by in school. Homelessness doubled here during covid and the city's response was to hire more cops. I understand that the catalyst was that
BUT... the meth is also one of the major parts of the problem. It very much is. I'm sorry but the meth is part of the problem. And there is a big difference between regulated and prescribed ADHD medication and street meth, and posts that act like there's no difference piss me off. "Hard illicit drugs are bad for you" can coexist with "addicts need help before criminalization" CAN COEXIST WITH "that guy who harassed me for no reason yesterday and threatened my life reeked of meth." There may have already been a fire under this city but the meth trafficking problem was the gas that was thrown on every building it could reach. Just because gas alone can't ignite without a spark doesn't mean it's not a major part of why a huge chunk of the buildings it was thrown on were reduced to ash

Family/Laugh: May 12 & 13 Prompts from @calaisreno
The exterior nowheres that Sherlock inhabits can be charted by his footfalls as he wends his way through the precincts of temporary cities. The silent drift of assimilating interior nowheres, however, seems to leave no traces, even as he feels unseen changes taking hold. His suspension in the January North of a darkness that persists until late morning, and then quickly returns in the afternoon, intensifies his perception that he lives in a shadow-world, a lone dark figure extracted from the frozen rain that curtains his days.
The patterns he seeks to capture as he hunts amidst the ones and zeros of cyberspace are likewise intangible – extended solitary vigils as his fingers command the keyboard to winnow through the tangle of codes – as well as tangible, of meetings with the technological mix of people here at Tallinn’s crossroads: software developers seeking the leading edge at corporate labs, security experts at NATO’s Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence, the underground hackers who traverse the landscape of the digital realm’s hollow earth. Both the intangible and the tangible are intense efforts to spy glimpses of Moriarty’s covert presence in the spaces between the ones and zeros, summoning up the networks and nodes of the intersecting spheres of finance, and energy, and communications, as made manifest in trafficking, and counterfeiting, and hijacking, across the physical and human worlds.
He’s accumulated an abundance of leads, some he’s near-certain he understands, and others he’s yet to decipher – but it’s enough to reveal to him his next move on the chessboard: St. Petersburg. He’ll take the train from Tallinn, without needing to step out for border control, which is handled en route. He’ll be leaving Estonia under a new identity; he hopes to keep Lukas Sigerson in his back pocket for later uses, but it’s time to make his presence difficult to trace: it's time to step away from Mycroft’s grid. He’s left seemingly inadvertent clues to allow Mycrofts’s people to (think that they’re) following him, along a pathway that connects the nefarious doings of Mexican cartels involved in establishing meth labs in Nigeria for the Asian market. Their pursuit of him will be turned to good account in dismantling that nexus, even when they realize he is elsewhere.
St. Petersburg is a hive of hacking activity, the physical site of the infamous Russian Business Network, which catered to the needs of cyber criminals. It’s not surprising that it is the city where Vladimir Putin lived, received his education, and joined the KGB, as an agent in its foreign intelligence wing, before tunneling his way to Moscow. Sherlock doesn’t believe that there are many degrees of separation between Moriarty and the dark internet of Putin’s hellscape.
He arrives at the end of Tallinn’s usefulness on a Friday evening. As he packs up his kit in the office space he’s made homebase through a courtesy loan in deference to his Norwegian technology credentials, some of the younger workers have swept him up into their murmurating flock as they celebrate the coming weekend in search of alcohol, bar food, and music. In London, Sherlock would have begged off such a request, were anyone intrepid enough to suggest it, and he would have been unperturbed at whatever anyone might think. But he’s not Sherlock, he’s Lukas, at least for a short while longer, and although his persona is reserved, businesslike and uninclined to make small talk, Lukas possesses an average quantity of affability; and remaining unobtrusive is best accomplished by being amidst the motions of others, rather than making himself conspicuous by setting himself off from the norms of sociality.
He did not, however, anticipate the karaoke session, which is putting a severe strain on the bonhomie he is channeling to Lukas, as it’s clear that he’s going to need to accede to accepting a turn in the spotlight, lest he put a damper on the good spirits of his companions. He nevertheless protests with a smile, holding out his hands, but any input he might have been able to exert on the decision-making disappears, when two of his impromptu friends conspire to tug him toward the microphone, explaining that all three of them will venture forth together, with a song they insist is dead simple to sing, and that the well-lubricated crowd will be delighted to join in with them in belting out the familiar refrain. Which is how he finds himself being carried along within a punchy, melodic stream that turns out to be excruciating emotionally, as the verses unfurl. He listlessly despairs, marooned, a hollowed-out laugh echoing inside his head in response.
. . . When I'm lonely, well, I know I'm gonna be I'm gonna be the man who's lonely without you And when I'm dreamin', well, I know I'm gonna dream I'm gonna dream about the time when I'm with you. When I go out (when I go out), well, I know I'm gonna be I'm gonna be the man who goes along with you And when I come home (when I come home), I know I'm gonna be I'm gonna be the man who comes back home with you I'm gonna be the man who's comin' home with you . . .
He’s exasperated at the universe conspiring to keep him unsettled, to deny him the solace of alone protecting him. He fears that he is fated to have any social contact whatsoever somehow conjure home and reminders of John. The song ends to raucous cheers, and the enthusiasm surges on, and he’s being importuned to name a new song of his own choice before being allowed to return to the table. He looks at the smiling faces helplessly, immobilized by the churning cacophony playing hide-and-seek inside his guts, incapable of conjuring up the simplest of answers. Undeterred, they jolly him along, prompting him to think of a film he’s recently seen, or club he’s been to, or a favorite television show. At the latter suggestion, his mind does slightly slip free, and there is John again, teasing Sherlock into watching another of his favorite shows, Sherlock pretending to be annoyed at being consigned to such a fate. He turns to the young people, and raises his voice to speak into the nearest person’s ear to be heard over the noisy crowd, and says with a question in his voice, Peaky Blinders? He seems to have pleased them, as they fiddle around to pull the selection, bouncing in high spirits and punching their fists into the air, as the music starts, a bell ringing out, and the slithering deep tones speaking of the edge of town, of secrets in the border fires, of a gathering storm -- and a tall handsome man, in a dusty black coat, with a red right hand.
As Sherlock listens to the song unspool, his mind wanders back to the show's themes, reminding him of a line of thought he’d been considering the last few days – that to focus singularly on Moriarty and faceless confederates is not quite the right way to conceptualize the dead man's web: that there must have also been family members in leading positions, positions of trust. One of the deep divides between himself and Mycroft originated in Sherlock’s refusal in uni to agree to work for SIS. Mycroft knew that he would never be able to trust completely any of the professionals who worked for him – after all they are spies working for money. To be sure, he wanted Sherlock to sign on to be able to appropriate his intelligence, but even more compelling was the fact that never having to question the loyalty of a brother would have made him an asset par excellence. Mycroft considers getting what he wants to be an inviolable law of the universe, and Sherlock doesn't think his brother will ever be able to truly forgive him for the rejection . . . especially given Sherlock's devotion to the inferior endeavors of dedicating himself to a life of metropolitan crime-solving. Family; family is what matters. A Moriarty is gone; but there are other Moriarties yet to be unearthed. ........................................................ @calaisreno @totallysilvergirl @friday411 @peanitbear @original-welovethebeekeeper @helloliriels @a-victorian-girl @keirgreeneyes @starrla89 @naefelldaurk

I checked on fanfics for The First Shot, one of the Chinese writers I've subscribed to have written a fic so I clicked on it and the stats blew my mind!

THIS AIRED LAST MONTH OH MY GOD? I have literally never seen this before, not this fast. Not even for MLC. Wow the sleeping Chinese AO3 community woke up for this?? I feel sorry for DMBJ now, you guys have truly left it huh 😂😭 Before I thought it's because ao3 ban and all its difficult to climb over firewall BUT YOU DID FOR THIS. Some of the best of Chinese dmbj fics are pickling over there with like 5 kudos each huhu
Like it's bamboozling. ALL of these are Chinese fics!! It's a great show but omg I didn't think it'd garner this much instantaneous fanbase. As a show about meth, looks like it indeed felt like meth for many HAHAHA.

That being said I've read some and you can totally mtl and enjoy them and please do because they are amazing!
IMPORTANT
Jokes aside, if you plan to watch this, for a crime show it's pretty standard, there are some CW (if you don't like slightest spoilers don't read anything below but then again if you already read everything above then you likely don't mind spoilers lol)
Murder and forced amputation and child trafficking and abuse and harassing women but not a lot, they are not dragged out and well balanced by the nice police squad scenes Speaking of which, it does get preachy at times with how bad drugs are etc 😂 But that too, I (pretended) to not see because it's set in 90's after all (modern drug dramas are just as preachy but hey🤣 I like the show so I excused it lol)
And in ep 24 of there's a CW SA scene too and its not too graphic but still plenty enough to be triggering 🫠
And in general, I wasn't too satisfied with how they concluded the show but not because it was bad but compared to how good the rest of the show was, it felt a tad bit underwhelming is all.
