middle child... parents died when he was 7 in a disastrous house fire. older brother yuji got him and their younger brother, renji, out before it was impossible to go back in and get their parents. 

they were sent to live with their maternal grandparents who outright didn't like their daughter's choices (ie... marrying the man that she did) so they were a little wary of taking in her children. in the end, they decided they were only capable of properly raising yuji since he was the oldest and could take care of himself to some degree. in frustration, the night that decision was made, yuji and keiji got into a physical fight. 

after some time in temporary homes, renji was adopted by a foreign family and moved out of the country with them, while kei was taken in by a rich family in the pharmaceutical business

his adoptive parents wanted him to follow strictly in their footsteps, but kei was never one who really enjoyed doing so. he always acted out to the point that his parents gave up on him and had him sent to various boarding schools. 

etc etc etc at some point in his teen years he became close with someone who taught him how to fight properly, and he really, truly enjoyed getting into fights. why? idk don't look too deep into it he's sooo normal.

PLATONIC unfortunately for everyone else, keiji is a very all or nothing type of person. it's either he likes you enough to get into bed with you or he hates you (likes you?) enough to punch your lights out. very few people fall into this middle category, but rest assured that he will literally kill for you if needed. fiercely protective over the few friends he does have. attack dog vibes you know? BACKSTORY ! (death tw, murder tw, & car accident tw)

The first six years of Javier’s life were about as close to perfect as life could get — raised in a warm home by two doting parents that provided their son with all the love and care in the world. It’s clear his life would’ve been completely different had tragedy not struck. While at home, safe and sound, going on make believe adventures with his babysitter, his parents were killed in a car accident.

With no one to take him in and no place to stay after that night, Javier was placed into foster care. Still trying to process and understand his own grief, he found the transition difficult and behavioral issues began to arise in the young boy. Soon after his behavioral problems popped up, he found himself getting bounced from home to home — never finding the perfect fit. 

Unsure of what else to do with him, Javier was moved into a group home when he was fourteen. He initially hated it there, but his opinion changed ever so slightly when he started to bond with two other boys there. As it turned out, the trio had a few similarities to bond over  — all three were superhumans that had been juggled and mismanaged in the system from their early childhoods due to behavioral issues and all three of them were overall fed up with it.

Despite trouble brewing, the staff didn’t see Javier bonding with the other two as problematic. In fact, it looked like an improvement for him —like he was finally coming out of his shell and forming meaningful connections for the first time since his parents’ deaths. They didn’t overhear the lengthy conversations where the boys expressed their dissatisfaction with their lives in comparison to the well-off and completely intolerable peers they had at school. And they certainly weren’t aware that Javier was beginning to use his intangibility to sneak the three of them out at night.

Their night’s spent out started as a way to blow off steam — damage a little public property and run off laughing into the night. Slowly, Dustin — the eldest of the trio and unofficial leader of the group — came to the conclusion that there was so much more the boys could do with their powers. It all started with pure intentions — steal from businesses that could afford it and stage the stolen items as anonymous and generous gifts made to the group home. Naturally things started to escalate and they found themselves stealing from wealthy individuals as well — acting as a modern version of Robinhood and his band of merry men. 

With the exception of a few close calls, their actions went largely unnoticed until one fateful night. Unbeknownst to the trio, the owner of the estate they were robbing was home and quietly watching the amateur heist take place. Impressed with how well they worked together and used their abilities, the man didn’t report them to the police and instead made plans to adopt the two that hadn’t aged out of the system yet. 

Javier and the boy closer to his age were soon adopted seemingly out of nowhere and Dustin was even offered a place to stay with them by the man they stole from. Perhaps this should’ve raised some sort of alarms, but all three were all too delighted to have a place where it felt like they were finally wanted and cared for to pay attention to any red flags.

Shortly after, they started training more rigorously and eventually started participating in more largescale crimes. All the while they were treated like family — never suspecting that they were really nothing more than tools to the person who took them in. It wasn’t until later when Javier was injured in a training mishap and pushed to continue, that Dustin became suspicious of why they were really there.

There was little time to process all this though, as they were quickly dispatched to take care of a job for a “trusted contact.” It was, of course, a setup to get rid of the boys who would become a problem should they turn against the man that took them in. In all the chaos, betrayal, and confusion that came with this job, Dustin was killed while the other two were able to make it back home — only to face more betrayal. The pair managed to escape death for the second time that night, but not without Javier taking a bullet to his shoulder from his adoptive father.

After getting Javier proper medical attention, the pair decided it was for the best that they part ways in hopes that it’d make them harder to track down. Once he fully recovered, he went back to criminal work, this time working independently as a hitman in hopes to better hone his skills so he can absolutely wreck his adoptive father’s shit one day 😌

HEADCANONS !

Forgive and forget? Absolutely not! Javier is very much the resent and remember type. Screw him over at any point and he’ll be hellbent on getting even. Like even over little things — he can be extremely petty.

Very hotheaded — it doesn’t take a lot to get under his skin. And while it is something he’s sort of working on...it’s not uncommon to find him in the middle of a heated argument over something stupid or caught up in a bar brawl.

Is the type to take jobs very seriously and expects the people working with him to do the same. While he’s not going to call you out right then and there for a mistake, you can bet your ass he’ll have a lot to say once the job is over and will be brutally honest about it. 

Teamwork is really hit or miss with him. He has experience at working well as a team and should in theory be better at it because of it, but his general distrust for others can get in the way and make things not go quite as smooth as they need to. Despite all his distrust, he is someone who can be relied on in the field and does make it a priority to make sure everyone involved gets out in one piece so there’s that.

Generally prefers to work alone or at least in some sort of leadership role, but he can adapt and take direction well if need be. And while he would prefer missions to go exactly as planned, realistically he knows that’s probably not going to happen and can quickly adjust.

It’s not easy to gain his trust or friendship, but once you do he’s very ride or die (unless you epically screw up and manage to lose his trust). 

Not to call him out or anything, but he’s had very few meaningful or significant relationships of any type with other people so he’s lowkey lonely. Of course, he’d never admit it, but yeah definitely lonely.

His sense of humor, when present, is usually sarcastic and dry.

Can frequently be seen rolling his eyes, facepalming, and sporting an annoyed expression.

Immediate death glare to anyone who calls him Javi (if they’re not close).

hello. i’m blue (he/him), nineteen, est! here’s a brief rundown of laz? i am so sorry in advance

he was born in hungary, his mother (who later became a politician) put him up for adoption a few months after his birth, maintaining she felt absolutely no connection to her son.

he was in and out of the hospital frequently, frequently sick due to the cyclical nature of his powers which are tied to the chinese zodiac. i’ll write a post abt that in a bit but as a basic rundown:

rat: reactive adaptation, rat swarming, water 

ox: dermal armor, horn manipulation, earth 

tiger: enhanced agility, night vision, wood 

rabbit: enhanced hearing, enhanced leap, wood 

dragon: enhanced condition, scale armor, earth 

snake: enhanced taste & smell, venomous bite, fire 

horse: self sustenance, danger intuition, fire

sheep: prey instinct, cold resistance, earth

monkey: brachiation, prehensile tail (dissipates during cooldown period), metal

rooster: feather manipulation (no flight/wings), hollow skeleton, metal

dog: enhanced tracking, enhanced senses, earth

pig: accelerated metabolism, matter ingestion, water

the elements at the end are the ones each sign is associated with. the opposite element (fire’s opposite is water, for example) becomes extremely effective against laz throughout the duration of that sign. he has a 7-10 day period of complete powerlessness between each animal cycle where he becomes essentially human. 

anyway. up until he was sixteen, his life was governed by the weaknesses of his powers. there was no guide book, he had little explanation for what was going on. his hearing would become overwhelmingly good for three weeks, the return to normal that followed would feel like his head was being held under water, his metabolism would kick into overdrive and his weight would drop drastically, he’d suddenly become incredibly aware of everything and would be broken down by accompanying anxiety, his bones would become weak and hollow, breaking easily, ect ect.

it wasn’t until he began recording the durations and symptoms of each iteration in the cycle that he recognised it did, in fact, have a pattern. once he recognised a pattern he could better prepare for it. once he could prepare for the downsides, he started to experience the enhancements that his mutation offered. 

once he had his first taste of power as a teenager, it became an addiction. he began preplanning and committing crimes, at first it was just robbery. he was hungry and largely on his own, but devolved into breaking into homes, into fighting and assault.

it was like he’d been given the reins back after being out of control for most of his life, but those reins did little to restore control. he gained infamy in budapest until he was brought to his knees in front of the syndicate of mutants who operated in the city.

recognising he was essentially at the mercy of his conditioning, they took him in after some intense hazing. their connections and training were what gave him enough traction to finally function. he was mentored by eris, a superhuman with a cyclical mutation that had similar detriments to his own, and was trained in fore-planning while he explored the full extent of each animals’ abilities. 

now, nearing twenty-six years into his career, he is renowned for his ability to adapt to his ever-changing circumstances. he takes jobs with long deadlines that benefit from his unnervingly proficient skill to plan out all possible outcomes and allow him to wait for the best arsenal of skills at his disposal to become available to him.

age has somewhat diluted his lust for power but has not made a dent in his fear of powerlessness. he becomes EXTREMELY RAW and uncomfortable around others when he is between animals. not that he’s a reasonably nice person in general but he’s arguably more tolerable when he doesn’t feel like he could be easily targetable :sob:

what’s that scent? the smell of CIGARETTE SMOKE AT A SEASIDE LIBRARY, which would explain the appearance of SIMON SONG. continental records indicate they are  known as THE FERRYMAN, a THIRTY-TWO year old ASSOCIATE. they have the unique ability of MEDIUMSHIP.  they were specifically selected for enrollment for the IMPOSSIBLE PRISON ESCAPE , WHERE THEY USED GHOSTS TO HELP HIM ESCAPE FROM PRISON. they can be DECEITFUL and PESSIMISTIC, but also COLD and OBSERVANT. we wish them well in their business to come.

simon is the only son and second child of richard and sara song, as well as the younger brother to min song. his mother died when he was relatively young, and his father eventually remarried a woman who mostly wanted him for his money.

min was a sister and mother all wrapped up into one; she watched out for him when their stepmother was cruel, but she couldn’t help but tease him and mess with him the way only older sisters can

as far as he can remember, he’s always been able to see ghosts ( but hasn’t always been able to control them or do much of anything with them ). unfortunately, it lead his stepmother into thinking he wasn’t quite mentally sound.

when he was twelve and his sister, min, was eighteen, their stepmother kicked min out of their home and shipped simon off to boarding school. his thirteenth birthday present was min arriving at his boarding school with forged paperwork guaranteeing that she would become his legal guardian. no longer having to worry about the cruelties of his stepmother, his life could be more at ease.

he’d only ever had min, and for the longest time, she was all he needed. but min still had to lead her own life and the older simon grew, the more he became aware of just how alone he was in the world. he knew min was up to more...illicit activities, no matter how hard she tried to hide it. while, at first, simon wanted to condone such activities, the more he spent time with criminals and the underworld, the more he felt like he had people who wouldn’t judge him for how bad or how well he behaved, since there were plenty who had done both worse and better than he had.

he began to work more at his ability and realized he could do more than just see ghosts - he could transfer his energy to them. and, if he did a few favors for the dead, they were more willing to do favors for him. using the assistance of ghosts, he could unlock doors without touching them, overhear words spoken in confidence while on the other side of the city, and move objects without ever blinking

unfortunately, despite his attempts at keeping business just business and his personal life to the other side, simon has had a few incidents where the two have collided. after a somewhat messy divorce with the sweetheart he married in university, simon had the chance to break into her home for some important documents...and he decided to take back the wedding ring he’d given her while he was there...which ultimately lead to the police being called and a ten year prison sentence stuck on his head.

not that simon served all ten years.  the more he heard about the ongoings outside of his little prison cell, the more irritated he became with his predicament. he bid his time and waited, four long years, until he was able to convince a dead prison guard to assist him in his prison escape. using pages signed in the guard’s hand, simon was able to walk away free, without killing anyone or the other guards being suspicious enough to look any deeper into the case.

he never imagined himself in a life of crime. no, he actually pictured himself as a university professor one day ( but sitting in the quiet archives works just as well ). but crime has come to be all he knows - what he’s good at. and no one has ever supported him the way other criminals have. with nothing left to lose, when the continental extended him an invitation, he knew he had to agree.

in the winter, fatima nwodo gives birth to twins. there's a snow storm outside, but she's comforted by the fact that she's introducing a baby boy and girl into the world in the same luxury hospital that her husband is chief of surgery at. seye and yejide. honor and mother's mirror. 

the twins are expected to be great, because why wouldn't the children of a former model and exemplary surgeon be stellar? and it's not like it's hard. forget being fed by a silver spoon, they're given everything they could ever want before they know they know they want it.

they're placed in every sport and activity that can be conceived, though the one that sticks the most with them is archery. at eight years old, they take to a bow and arrow like ducks to water. while close as younger children, this shared sport drives a wedge between the two almost immediately.

it's like everyone's constantly at odds with yejide. or maybe yejide is at odds with everyone else. either way, she's getting the cold shoulder from seye and fatima at any given time. why? her father, dami, has no clue. after work, he'll look at yejide over his reading glasses as he skims the paper and simply shrug as fatima throws another scathing remark yejide's way.

yejide learns to live with it, because the alternative is confrontation, and that's simply unheard of in the nwodo family, where everyone is expected to bottle shit up and never let it out. anger escapes only when she has a bow and arrow in her hands, and a target seventy meters away. nock, draw, aim, release. nock, draw, aim, release. nock, draw, aim, release.

it becomes a mantra, a saving grace, mumbled under her breath when she needs to relax her mind.

she's practicing more than seye, taking it more seriously. she sees the pride in dami's eyes, the envy in seye's, the pity in fatima's.

fatima wants her to consider education and modelling, perhaps even acting. yejide says no repeatedly, to fatima's distaste. of course she isn't deprioritizing education, but modelling? she has her father's face, his demeanor, his rumbling laugh, and none of the grace that her mother hoards for herself.

seye, ever the one to please his mother, decides that archery and modelling go hand in hand. he gets a contract with an agency and is distracted enough by this new endeavor that yejide surpasses his archery skills with ease.

the first injury is mid-competition. she's removed from the roster entirely and spends the remaining time on bedrest per her father's instruction. seye wins his category and she's left with nothing to show for the years of effort she put into getting this far. none of the medals compare to what she could have won from the archery world cup.

when seye comes home, yejide is in indescribable pain. dami only gives her over the counter painkillers. but seye, bless his soul, finds fatima's not-so-secret collection of opioids and slips her the bottle. there's just enough to get yejide through the worst of the injury, and she's back in business shortly. she follows her father's instructions of physical therapy when she's able, recovering well.

the 2016 olympics roll around and the twins qualify to be on the france team. they excel, because of course they do, and are on every major news outlet that's tracking the olympics. more medals join the growing collection the twins have in their family home, and for a few months, they're able to put aside their differences.

the 2020 olympics go similarly, with the twins placing in every category they participate in. more medals added to the collection, more magazines with their faces plastered on the front. yejide is in college, balancing her archery career with a slow going education in kinesiology and biology.

seye doesn't follow her, more interested in brand deals and showing off his achievements. fatima adores her son.

august 2023, berlin. archery world cup. she graduated two years ago with her dual bachelor's. she's taking a break before attending school for her doctorate's in physical therapy to pursue archery for as long as she can before it takes a toll on her body. apparently, now's when it happens.

yejide tears her rotator cuff bad enough that it requires intensive and immediate surgery. it's a career ending injury. seye doesn't show up at the hospital; he's busy winning, busy qualifying for the 2024 olympics. fatima doesn't show either. dami visits when he can, occupied with holding together a hospital and balancing his responsibilities.

she recovers at the family estate, but it's less recovery, more learning to live with constant, unending pain. the bottle of prescription painkillers runs out embarrassingly fast, and she digs through dami's office to find his prescription pad. she pockets it, practices his signature a couple times, and is on her way.

the day she learns that for some odd reason, seye has withdrawn his name from participation in the 2024 olympics, she finds a way to get out before any rumors start spreading. greece might not be far enough away from home, but it's the only place she can think of even if she'll still be in the public eye.

she's given an out, an escape from the estate, a reason to not be face-to-face with her stagnant career and her brother's despair. she blocks his number, her mom's number (not that fatima will be calling), and hesitates over her dad's. for now, she leaves it unblocked. it's easier to appear innocent when she leaves a line of communication open. now it's about surviving. picking up the pieces and taping them back together again. nock, draw, aim, release.

PLATONIC yejide keeps her circle small on purpose. whether she genuinely feels companionship with everyone in the circle is unknown, but at least for one or two people she feels strongly enough to be protective. still, she keeps secrets from them and will not hesitate to spill their secrets if needed. ROMANTIC all of yejide relationships have been short as she's not the commitment type. as soon as things start getting a little deep, she's getting on a life boat and leaving. more likely to use relationships as a way to get at her perceived rivals and succeed in class. ANTAGONISTIC absolutely the type of person with on-show enemies. whether they be set up by the producers for drama or not, she probably doesn't like them anyway. she'll do what it takes to be better than anyone else without qualms, even if that means digging into their life and exposing what should be hidden.

wren was born in america to a teenage single mother and he was immediately given up for adoption because of that. the couple that took him in were quite wealthy, so wren never really had to work a day in his young life.

he’s loud, he’s FUN, and he’s full of energy. it was probably why he seemed to always be a leader in his friend group, but he would usually call himself the comedic one.

after that, he got really into partying and literally partied his way through high school and never attended college.

in short, sara is a bully. she was born with fists for hands and iron lungs and she regularly tormented her new parents with her piercing screams. in fact, many acquaintances of sara’s parents were surprised to learn that they were expecting another baby just six months after sara’s birth. just a few months after her first birthday, she became an older sister

growing up, sara despised her little sister. if she were to ever see a professional therapist, they would likely argue that she was angry at her parents for giving her sister attention instead of her, but she has made a point of not thinking much about her family.

throughout a lot of her childhood, sara would torment her little sister - in ways more than just a normal sibling rivalry. she’d play her music late at night and raid her sister’s bedroom and kiss her sister’s boyfriend just to make her upset. when sara turned seventeen, she overheard her parents considering shipping her off to a military academy. that night, she hotwired an old minivan and ran away with her boyfriend at the time to drive from pennsylvania to california ( where she ditched her boyfriend at a gas station about halfway there ).

she’s picked up various odd jobs over the years and been involved in countless social circles, from drifters to druggies to young professionals. she briefly took classes to be a paralegal before inevitably dropped out, worked at a private investigator firm for a year before she got tired of catching spouses having affairs, signed up for the graveyard security shift at a graveyard, and even was a manager at a vape shop for a few months.

she got into counterfeiting because she always needed extra cash and, at home, she really only had a printer and plenty of hours to spare. it took her a few months to get the exact concoction right but, after following the guidance of a colonial counterfeiter, mary buttersworth, she was able to pass off her money as the real thing from her apartment. the largest issue sara came in contact with was washing the money, which is how she got more involved with organized crime and, eventually, was contacted by the continental.

she’s not a huge name in crime rings. she’s typically grumpy and almost always ready to fight, so sara isn’t all that popular among other criminals. however, she is somewhat well known among boxing fans. mostly in the united states, she has entered a few boxing and mma competitions when she needed some extra cash.

while she’s known for making counterfeit bills, sara also takes up demolition jobs. her favorite hobby is punching, slicing, or stabbing with either her fists or one of her many blades, blowing stuff up also works well enough. she’s better at making counterfeits than she is with destroying buildings, but it’s a skill she’s still working on building.

Hey everyone! I’m Anna and I’ll be playing Charlie here. I’m really excited to be here with this character. He’s one of my favorites to play and I’ve been looking for a good home for him for a while. Charlie is 22. He’s currently a student in university. He is in a 5-year program to become a special education teacher. He is in his fifth year.

He has lived in Manchester all his life. His family still lives here, but he has since moved into his own apartment. 

His family is very well off. He is the son of a neurosurgeon and a lawyer. Money has never been an issue for the Spencers, but Charlie was raised very well so he does not come off as incredibly spoiled or anything like that.

TW: DEATH He was an only child for the majority of his life. During his senior year of high school, his parents surprised him with the fact that he would be a big brother. His mother had a very complicated pregnancy and did not make it through the birth of his baby sister, Olivia. Due to complications during birth, his sister had a lack of oxygen which resulted in her being born deaf. Charlie has been learning ASL with his father since they learned Olivia would not hear.

TW: ANXIETY After his mother’s death, Charlie had an extremely hard time. His anxiety went through the roof and he started suffering from night terrors and even bouts of sleepwalking. The sleepwalking led to a car accident when he was hit by a drunk driver. He still has the scar from where the seatbelt dug against his skin.

His friends tried to get his mind off of everything which led to Charlie going to some parties. This was completely out of character for Charlie who is usually very shy and awkward in those social situations. One party, he was spending time with his childhood friend, Layla Moretti, and the two ended up sleeping together resulting in Layla getting pregnant. Charlie has been by her side through every aspect of the pregnancy as well as raising their daughter together.

Charlie is the best friend you could have. He always puts others before himself and will be the one to show up at 3am to bail you out of jail. His family and friends mean the world to him and he would do anything for them! No questions asked.
