TEETH DREAMS: 'with my back to the world'

Almost a year to the day since the last one, I managed to get a new Teeth Dreams record out into the world. This one was kind of a hassle, it’s been a hell of a year. I wrote and recorded this as a sort of meditation exercise during a rough patch a couple months ago. While that sounds bleak, I think it turned out pretty much exactly how I’d hoped. 36 minutes of harsh ambient drone, composed around polymicrotonal interactions between 5 and 7 EDO.

Love and thanks to @uboatheflesh for once again mixing and mastering, and keeping my fits of despair at bay, and to Orchid for knocking out this absolutely stunning album art.

musician here. its a very firm belief of mine that music is for everyone to enjoy, and part of that enjoyment stems from making music. composing music shouldn't be just limited to the people who take classes on how to do it

but maybe you're thinking, thats not really for me but i wish i could get into analog synth! that looks really cool!

cmon it looks so fuckin cool. unfortunately it costs an actual arm and a leg to get into. i encourage you to not saw off your limbs, so maybe try VCVRack, a free, open-source simulator for a eurorack synth that looks *almost* this cool and is completely midi-compatible!

i think sacred music in the kryn dynasty would be very cyclical and repetitive in form to symbolize the idea that life is a continuous thing (at least those who are consecuted right right) and is a cycle across lifetimes and yeah

This is a small issue, and we'll likely never see it amended, but it feels like such a loss that we never got the music of Harry Partch in a Fallout game.

Two of his main bases of operations, Los Angeles and Oakland, can be visited in the series. Having been active from the early 40's through to the early 70's, Partch is also period-accurate. His subject matters dealt with rural, lower-class life in the US during the Great Depression, and his style of composition manages to sound alien and threatening while simultaneously being oddly hilarious (the two main sides of Fallout, the first of which is regrettably missed in recent years) .

If you listen to his voice, he absolutely sounds like he could be a talking head in a Fallout game, and having spent much of his life making bizarre musical instruments in a ranch converted into a carpentry workshop, he'd probably have at least three vault-saving MacGuffins stached away somewhere. Everything about Partch, from his time spent as a hobo to his haircut in the 50's, makes him a perfect fit for the series, but we got a 50/50 distribution of Doo-Wop and Ambient World Music instead with no room for nine minute operatic pieces about hitchhiking.
