Feel like we hardly need more byler proof at this point but one I rarely see talked about is Katya and Trixie's reaction to season 1-3:

They did not, and I can't stress this enough, react to a single byler moment.

Not one.

The scenes that did have byler moments in them, or where Mike was being sus in general, were all cut to exclude those parts. The milkvan kiss from the end of s3 is, for example, conveniently cut before it ends and Mike has that confused look on his face. And they had to. These divas would've clocked that shit immediately.

Also there's no reaction vid for S4. Which couldn't possibly have anything to do with the fact that the whole California plotline was just byler, and cutting around it wouldn't have worked cause there would be nothing left.

And this is not the Stranger things team, it's Netflix. Oh can't spoil the big "surprise" now can you? All I'm asking is that we get the full reaction later. We simply must get these two biological women clowning the shit out of Mike for being clueless, coo over Will being perfect and point out every single foreshadowing element (is that a one way sign pointing into his closet?? *bird noises*). Peak.

She comes by the shop every Monday. A Thursday or two every month, when she's getting the macadamias. Oh, I was fooled by her cat jumper at first, thinking she had one. She did seem like the type; methodical, high maintenance, selfassured; I had her pegged for a sphinx owner, and so I got myself one hoping to find her in some cat group or whatever. I was still a stocker back then, and I didn't know enough about her to do anything but watch from a distance. Well she's got a bird actually, hence the bird treats, but I'm still happy I got the cat. It climbed over the display I'd made for her knocking it down and ruining half her pictures, which was just motivation enough to follow her home for the first time, instead of staking out the shop when I didn't have a shift. Seeing her in her home, even from a distance, was more than I could ask for, but I already knew what I know now. It's not nearly enough.

When I asked for the cashier position, my manager said they were full staffed already but he'd add a note to my name in case they needed someone to cover on short notice, which would give me the experience necessary. After coming in instead of going to class on a Tuesday, however, it was clear true love has no time to race with the rats. That's when the evening shift cashier, Max or Mike or whatever his name was, started receiving hatemail. He didn't look like much, so I figured that it'd be enough to get him to move to an earlier shift or change jobs entirely, but apparently Maxwell was made of tougher material than he looked because I had to get a voice scrambler and start ringing up both the shop and his home before he actually quit. Then, I got the position.

The first Monday I was working I was ready to burst out of my skin with delight. My breathing was so light you could have held a mirror to my cupid's bow and I wouldn't have even fogged it over, heart racing under the fitted pinstripe replacing my band tees from my stocker days. She came by at the usual time, wearing a knit sweater that I'd never seen before but complimented her curls so cosily I went just that weaker on the knees. I managed to pull my act together in time to scan her picks and remembered to ask whether she wanted to sign up for the rewards program, since I had no reason to know she already was.

I think that exchange, our first interaction, was what sealed our fate together. That night, as I was closing, I made a list of bird products to casually recommend to her when I saw her next, makinf sure we had them in stock. It's usually slow when she does her shopping, so gradually we started chatting more. The cat call was a resounding success, since we got to go on over exotic pets. I didn't know African parrots were rare, or even a thing, but it suits her so I'm always thrilled to hear what Caligula's got up to. That's how I decided it was time to get the cat a name. When I first got it I'd call it 'cat' and it stuck, so the official name is Katya, but it only answers when it feels like it. That's fine by me, I'm only glad I didnt name it after her, as elated as I was upon learning her name.

Misty. Enigmatic and gentle, just like her. That was before I got the cashier position, one day I followed her to her job hauling some old hobo in a wheelchair asking for retirement plans in a Greek accent. I didn't get to speak with her, of course, but the harmony of her stride as she hovered around the residents was fuel for the fire in me. At one point she approached the nurse station to see about someone's evening meds, the closest I'd heard her voice at the time, and I spilled my faux grandfather's courtesy applejuice. He complained more than you'd think someone who's getting paid to sit and act senile would, but it couldn't dampen my enthusiasm a bit.

Risk: reward, I remind myself now. Today we are going on our first date ever in a sequence I'm sure will end in a spring wedding. Judging by the magazines I've retrieved from her bins, that's her aesthetic. I'm enamoured so by her scrapbooking I've got duplicates of all of them to cut out the things she did and try to arrange them like she would. Her display now takes up an entire wall and a low table, and so I cannot keep putting it off, I need us to take the next step.

Going from the checkout girl to a potential love interest is not an easy transition, no matter how much I work to make my wardrobe look less like pre-med and more like established professional. Which I'm glaringly not, but it's reasonably what she would go for, if she is even ready to go for a woman at all. My previous attempt matching her floral parfum with a citrus leave on conditioner got a compliment, but it's evidently not enough.

Today, she expects to meet with Rod from Bumble. Or maybe Tod. Out of all the information I gathered on him, his name is virtually inconsequential. His record with local police, though, is a veritable godsend. Disturbance of the peace and public intoxication, domestic disputes and even a DUI. My 911 call is such a virtuosa performance the only thing stopping me from being too smug about it are the butterflies fluttering low in my stomach. There's no way Bob is going anywhere other than he station today. I take out the chip to snap it in two and drop the pieces into the turtle enclosure. I actually like the turtles, but they've eaten through their cage twice so they should be alright.

I'm awful at waiting and, when I see her arrive at the café across the street and take a window table I have to stop myself from going AWOL. By the time my shift is over, she's been there for almost fourty five minutes, and Tod is just over half an hour late. I should have expected her to be early, and I feel guilty now. I untie my hair, throw on a red overcoat and walk as if in a dream out of the pet shop, into the café and to the counter. Order something, right. Namely, a cinnamon roll and a croissant I've seen her get before, with a caffè mocha. I scan the place while the lady works on that, only to meet Misty's eyes over her matcha.

My heart skips a beat when she smiles at me, and I'm returning a lovestruck grin. I lean back on the counter for stability as she makes her way to me, not looking really mad at getting stood up. I'm thinking this is going way better than I planned, and quietly congratulating myself for my colour choice back when I ordered the coat, when she says if I can get my order to go she'll introduce me to Caligula. It's kindof the dinner rush so the barista seems annoyed but complies.

Walking next to her is such an accomplishment and I'm feeling so lucky it takes longer than it should to register we're not headed to her home. I'm confused, but how could I even ask about that without giving up the entire thing? She seems to notice my reluctance, stopping and turning to me, but I'm so afraid of her questions I start talking without knowing what I'm saying, eyes on the floor. So I don't see her and I'm not expecting it when she pins me to the wall, not the way I've been wishing. I drop my drink with a yelp.

'Why are you following me?'

'What? I- I wasn't I... I thought we were- weren't you going to...'

'Almost 3 weeks you've been following me, and I thought I was going insane but I'm not!'

'But I wasn't!'

'No you are, and I want to know why.'

Something cold and sharp presses under my jaw, and she looks so commanding, wrathful like the angels, I'm thinking dying by her hand like this would be the loveliest of fates. But then I realise we won't get to have a romance that way, so I must speak. More than afraid of her, I'm in awe she's found me out. It's clear I've got much to learn. I sigh.

'Eight months.'

'What?'

'I've been following you for eight months. And twelve days. Because I'm in love with you.'

She steps back and I follow, reeling from the lost of proximity. 'Misty, I love you. I knew it would be hard to explain, and this isn't what I had planned, but...'

'Eight months?'

'I got a cat because I thought you had one, I started working as a cashier to get to talk to you. Listen, I know it's unusual, but I couldn't stop thinking of you and...'

'Prove it.'

'What?'

'Prove it.'

Katya meows lazily when I open the door. I'm dazed from the short walk to my flat, her hand hasn't left my wrist, the grip strong and grounding. I've been trying to find the words here, first to convince her I mean no harm but her demand resonates in my head. Prove it. If expressing my love for her is all she wants me to do, chances are she doesn't think I'm that much of a freak. I flick the lightswitch, lead her into the bedroom.

She could decide to kill me now, she could decide to call the cops. I don't care. I've basically brought god down to my shrine. Here she is, beautiful, surrounded by every tchotchke, every token I've taken in the name of love. Here she is, unafraid and understanding, shifting her hold from my wrist to my hand.

hi everyone, i'm a new book review sideblog. i've always wanted to start a blog but now i've actually taken that step. i love reading and now that i'm older, i am now more able to critically interact with the media i consume. i hope to share some books that i have read recently, books that i want to read and also any reading challenges that i have set for myself. below these very pretty headers, i will include some information about myself as well as the books i am currently reading, the music i am currently listening to and the shows or movies that i may be watching! i might also share my tbr list! thanks for reading!

currently reading i'm going to be honest, i tend to read a few books at once, however it is usually one novel and a couple encyclopaedic books, so right now i am reading edgar allan poe's the narrative of arthur gordon pym of nantucket alongside a classical mythology encyclopaedia. i'm also part of a book club and the books that we read together will make an appearance here. we recently read the letters we keep by nisha sharma, so expect a review for that, as well as one for weyward by emilia hart, which we read before that!

reading challenges currently doing a goodreads challenge to read 20 books this year since it has been quite difficult to get back into reading for pleasure + i am obsessed with mike flanagan's the fall of the house of usher on netflix, and i've already watched it twice but before i inevitably watch it for a third time, i've decided to read the tales, poems and novels by edgar allan poe that were referenced in the show; i'll try and include a link to my complete list!

currently listening to i love me some victoria monet and i've had her music on repeat consistently for the last couple years! i have also taken an interest in fleetwood mac, kate bush, and mos def. i've also been keeping up with the kendrick v. drake beef, so i've been listening to quite a bit of his recent releases. i might be willing to make a list (or maybe a playlist - not entirely sure) of some of my favourite songs at the moment.

currently watching not much unfortunately. i spend a lot of time on youtube but i am trying to find a way to watch season 7 of drag race. i've never watched the show before but i'm aware of trixie mattel and katya so i wanted to watch their season. as i mentioned earlier, i am obsessed with the fall of the house of usher on netflix but i am forcing myself to hold off before watching it again.

favourite books suzanne collins' the hunger games series, neil gaiman's american gods, silvia moreno-garcia's mexican gothic, ransom riggs' miss peregrine's peculiar children series (have not finished yet)

what do i like to read i like poetry a lot (though i sometimes struggle to understand it), as well as mythology, all types. i also like fantasy and dystopia and one of my favourite series is the hunger games series by suzanne collins. i am trying to expand my reading horizons, since i read a lot of ya fantasy when i was younger.
