"Wealthy art collector Calvin Norris, while visiting an artist friend, sees a woman modeling for a sculptor in the studio across the alley. Norris is shocked. The woman looks exactly like the subject of a Renoir painting he owns. He tries to get to the woman but she is gone before he can get to the sculptor's studio. Norris hires Mannix and Intertect to track the woman down. Norris is more interested in her than the possibility his painting is a forgery. Mannix, relying more on legwork than Intertect's computers, finds the woman, who, it turns out is really an artist and only models occasionally. It also turns out that Lang, the sculptor, is prone to violence. Mannix is convinced Linda is in danger and he's determined to crack the conspiracy". Bill Koenig

Striking Dominion workers outraged after police threaten arrests

The union representing striking Dominion workers say strikers were threatened with arrest last night at the Weston’s Bakery in Mount Pearl.

Chris MacDonald is the lead negotiator for Dominion strikers, and he says police say they were enforcing the Highway Traffic Act, and threatened to arrest strikers if they didn’t leave the area, and allow for the companies transport trucks to exit the parking lot.

A ruling in Supreme Court on Monday prevents striking Dominion workers from picketing outside the Loblaws Distribution Centre in Mount Pearl, however MacDonald says there is no ruling preventing workers from striking outside of Weston’s Bakery.

The workers have been on strike at 11 Dominion stores across Newfoundland and Labrador since August 22, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Tuesday night’s incident dominated discussion in the House of Assembly this morning, with NDP Leader Allison Coffin expressing outrage at the show of force.

Labour Minister Gerry Byrne is encouraging Loblaw’s and Dominion to return to the bargaining table.

Saying goodbye to political giant John Crosbie

Hundreds of people paid their final respects to John Crosbie this afternoon, as funeral proceedings were held at the Anglican Cathedral in St. John’s.

Dignitaries and politicians from across Canada attended today’s funeral service – including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and former Prime Minister Brian Mulrooney.

Mulrooney and John Crosbie’s son Ches Crosbie, leader of the PC Party, both gave eulogies.

John Crosbie died last week at the age of 88.
