I NEED to have it addressed in fic form that the Rise turtles are fundamentally different than all their other counterparts, because their counterparts? They were accidents. Just a couple of turtles splashed with mutagen and oh look now they’re people but Green. (Huge oversimplification I’m aware but hear me out okay-)

But the Rise boys were created. They were specifically designed to be weapons of mass destruction. They were built with the intent to cause harm which means they were bioengineered to be stronger, smarter(?), faster, to heal quicker, to have the capacity to take hard hits while dishing out even harder ones, they were literally forged with a purpose to kill.

Add on their mystic powers? Then their unlocked Ninpo? You can’t honestly tell me that these four aren’t the strongest and potentially deadliest version of themselves out there.

Yes they still had to learn things, as did the other iterations, they weren’t immediately good (that much is obvious, like c’mon it’s IN the name) but I don’t think the other iterations possess the same instincts as these guys do. They’re just so. Unhinged. They’ve all had their moments in the show I think where it’s obvious they’re not really,,, stable. I love them.

In a plain fists only, maybe weapons, no powers fight, I do think some of the other iterations would win, but purely because they have way more experience than these guys do. (If I did any crossovers I’d say 2003 and 2012 are definitely older than these guys, especially if we’re basing this at the end of their shows) But put them against each other when they’re still at the same level? Rise is whooping butt, I know where I’m placing my bets. It’s called RISE of the TMNT for a reasonnnnnn they’re not there yet but they WILL BE, and as of the end of s2 and the movie I say they’re finally THERE.

Eschatology by aenor_llelo, Alderous, ConcoctionsFromHell, izziel_galaxy, Jaybird314, Otakuforlife19, and Rocket999 [17/17 chapters, 344k words] “HEAVY on the boys being biologically engineered to destroy the world, it also delves into so much character building and worldbuilding that we never got in canon, and it gives even super minor characters the chance to shine” Sounds intriguing, AND it’s a BNHA crossover which I am a big fan of :D

The Hunter’s Bible also by TurtleSoupSwimmer [2/2 chapters, 15k words] Rated Mature, contains themes of SA and c@nnibalism so PLEASE keep that in mind!! Not a fic for the faint of heart this is a Dead Dove: Do Not Eat! The SA is only attempted, and never shown, only implied, and it’s only in ch 1, but the other stuff is fairly descriptive and takes place in ch 2. All that being said, flipping UNHINGED, just about lost my mind in ch 2, it was entertaining in a surreal kinda way if you get what I mean. Funky little feral creatures

• while we know our favorite time traveling boi, takemichi, lives in absolute filth and might be super smelly, i really think that he either has smell blindness and thinks that it’s fine and that everyone was just dramatic OR that he actually takes multiple showers a day and has environment blindness to his own mess and doesn’t understand the smell around him

• oddly enough while baji may be easily one of the most feared people in toman, no one would ever guess that the person that baji fears the most is his own mom

• like he promised mama baji that he wasn’t going to fight & that he’d be home so she didn’t have to worry about him when she’s gone off to her night job. and when it turns out he came home to her waiting for him and she sees him covered in dirt and blood? i can totally see him shaking in his boots knowing he disappointed his mom

• idc what anyone says but mikey is super self absorbed. when he was younger, he was asked who he looked up to and this mf said himself and when he was told that he can’t say that? mikey threw a FIT

• draken is such a typical bike person like i think he would genuinely wish to be like tenya iida from my hero academia or iron man

• bc of draken’s love for bikes, emma would literally have so much beef with his bike that she BLAMES anything bad that happened to her on the bike

• like she would honestly personify draken’s bike and convince herself that it was alive

• Peh-yan is actually much smarter than he leads people to believe and i would say it’s bc he cause he just respects Pah-chin so much that he doesn’t want him to ever feel bad about being dumb lol

• even though smiley is the eldest, he totally acts like a spoiled younger brat sometimes and angry has to take the responsibilities that should belong to the eldest

• and even though smiley loves his dear twin brother, it doesn’t change the fact he also despises the unruly curly hair both on angry and himself. so when he straightens his own hair and asks his brother to do the same? angry will straight up say no and walk away

• i can totally see smiley throwing a tantrum and calling angry names bc 1) smiley is the older brother and the youngest must always follow what their elders say 2) why can’t angry just see that smiley is just looking out for him? and 3) smiley lowkey just wants to match his little bro but doesn’t want to admit it bc it might make him look lame

• makoto’s definetely a little freak, it’s canon that he got kicked out of takemichi’s house after his mom found him masturbating, but i like to think this event caused makoto get it together and lock in

• it’s also canon that his favorite spot is under the bed, so i can totally see makoto being super embarrassed after the ordeal and would use that spot to ground himself and that takemitchi would come visit him during this weird time to tell him it was okay and that it’s something he forget it ever happened

• like it’s such funny image bc just image for a month after makoto got caught, this dude would just lay under his bed whenever he could and takemichi would come visit, pushing a plate of food towards the bed, and it just looked like takemichi was making friends with a bed

• bless this man’s heart, but takuya was always mistaken for a girl in his early teens and somehow always carries a damsel in distress aura so both guys and girls always tried to come to his defense

• he was at the mall and some old man is trying to flirt with him? girls come to his aid. at the store and can’t reach something? a taller man will get it for him and tell him “not to stress with such pretty face and to not be embarrassed to ask for help”. walking home with bags of grocery? the older ladies at the park will unapologetically gossip out loud how it was a shame of how “frail of a pretty girl” takuya is and that it was shameful for how a girls’ parents to not be considerate

• even when the mizo middle five first joined, a lot of them would mistaken him as a girl but at least takuya had constant company wherever he went bc toman men were actually very protective of women

• lowkey atsushi would also get the same treatment, not as bad as takuya but the toman men would see him as ‘big sis’ for a while and ask him for advice, especially when it came to self care and more importantly hair care

• i totally see both takuya and atsushi milking the shit out of the weird assumptions just for the hell of it and when draken or mitsuya actually clears up the assumptions at a meeting, the toman men still are protective of takuya and still go to atsushi for ‘big sis’ advice

“Ugh, Takuya do you ever get annoyed with them thinking you’re still a girl? Ever since the meeting, they still come up to me for sister advice but the locker room behavior started. They kinda hit hard.”

• we definitely do not talk enough about the toman men in general but while i’ve seen lots of posts of toman being chaotic, i feel the opposite. i see the toman men being fairly quiet and are softies

• despite all of that and while they have doubt a lot of the time, they definitely come through to support whatever mikey envisions or what they think he would envision.

• one of the captains or vice captains having lady problems? best believe they will come through to hold a boys night. when Pah-chin got locked up? the toman men definitely schemed to break him out for a long time even when draken out and threatened to beat them up if they don’t stop.

He kindly searches your room for any "suspicious devices" placed by "creeps" he takes this opportunity to put in his own cameras to watch you from every angle in your home, you get more time away from him but he watches you while you sleep.

He gives you little trinkets and tech made by him just for you they all have cameras in them, he loves watching you

And your health is watched like a HAWK.

He's constantly calling you over to his place, under the guise of "making sure your healthy" and he does do that, he does!

It's like your a permanent hospital patient, with you being strapped up and poked and prodded.

Your heart rate would be constantly monitored with a watch he gave you along with your blood pressure, temperature, blood sugar, and steps per day.

The slightest cough will be treated like a medical emergency. His place would be disinfected and you would be "bedbound" from your illness.

Only he can see you when this happens, after all he's the only one who can care for you properly.

Honestly, I can see him medically abusing you, Munchausen syndrome by proxy style.

He'll give you new meds under the guise of healing whatever menial injury you got, only for you to get sicker and sicker. Hell, he might even put you under anesthesia and give you a couple of injuries (can't have you feeling pain or remembering it!) like breaking your legs and blame it on your "new disease."

Narcolepsy, bouts of paralysis or blindness, chronic pain, he'll do whatever makes you hang out with him more! Of course, none of it will actually be permanent or lifelong, he can stop it as quickly as he started it, but why would he do that when it's so affective?

And when you get ill, he'll insist he can be the only one to care for you. I mean, medical bills are expensive after all! Why waste your money when you can just go to your old friend Donnie!?

He'll have you lean on him for support, making you ill enough to the point that you couldn't even leave the sewers as you could barely move your legs and your entire body felt like it was in flames just so you guys can hang out together a little more

(To be honest it's less about the control he has over you and making you depend on him, and more on making you spend more time with him. But if he needs to make you dependent on him, he's not complaining.)

You'll have to stick with him until this "flare up" of your illness gets better. And he'll keep you trapped there with him through your disease until eventually he begins to break, as that now that you're by his side what the point of putting you through so much pain?

And so he'll down the dosage of the medicine he used to hurt you, just to make you feel a little bit better. But you take this as you healing, and you suggest to him that maybe, just maybe, you could go back home now? I mean you're getting better now, so you don't need to be around him ALL the time.

When he hears this he'll act calm at first even though he feels his blood running freezing cold and he'll help you pack up to go home, only for the next morning for the pain and paralysis come back, stronger than ever and making you cry and beg for it to stop

(He might even keep you trapped with him in this way, physically unable to leave and having your punishments being an up in the illness)

Sure, he'll feel guilt for making you feel so much pain and he'll miss your more fiery personality, that now has been dampened down due to your pain, but at least you're now next to him.

He'll help you learn to function to the best of your ability while ill, giving you a wheelchair and braces and the best prosthetics known to man.

But at the same time, he'll still be making sure you're still dependent on him, but independent enough where the old personality he fell in love with comes back. Independence dependence, per say.

Upping your meds just enough so that some days the pain still engulfs you but keeping it low enough so even on your neutral days you can engage in your battles of wits and words between you two that he oh-so-loved.

Good enough to function normally on your good days, bad enough that you writhe in agony as your skin flares up in pain on your bad ones.

It's all so you're still you, but he is still a part of you.

The same thing can be said for him. He is still him, but you are still a part of him. A MAJOR part.

And if you're ever pissed at him or resistant he'll drug your food with sleeping meds to make you more "soft" and "pliable."

But none of this dependence on him compares to how dependent he is on you.

As time goes on you can't get ANY time away from him.

Even before he does anything too drastic (before he practically kidnaps you) you are pretty much stripped of all your privacy and autonomy.

He's always following you around, showing up at your house unannounced, sneaking into your work/school to meet up with you in the bathroom, and any single moment you can be around him he WILL be around you.

The only moment of peace you get is in the bathroom and even then, if you're in there for longer than two minutes he'll begin to rant to you through the door.

It may frustrate you but to him it makes perfect sense. After all, two is better than one, so why would you ever need to be apart?

Remember that 2012 Halloween toy line where the Turtles were monsters? So I made a little AU based around that where the Turtles and all their friends are monsters or something else...

Leonardo - Mummy, was a royal that was given new life thanks to the Egyptian gods. Often bickers with Raph over who’s the superior royal (Leo’s actual royalty, Raph just claims he is causs ego)

Raphael - Vampire, calls himself the Prince of Darkness. Massive ego. He’s in love with the vampire slayer who’s hunting him down and wants to drink her blood to make her his vampire queen.

Donatello - Frankenstein’s Monster, created by Casey and very intelligent despite just been created and given life. Struggles to speak. Has a special connection and bond with April who uses to her powers to mentally communicate with him so she can hear him speak fully.

Michelangelo - Werewolf, his wolf transformation only comes out at a full moon so he’s his regular self the rest of the time but people think he’s more fun when transformed

April - Basically Carrie minus the abusive parent. Her father worries for her and her powers losing control and hurting those she loves, she feels like a freak but then she meets the Turtles and feels at home and slowly learns to control her powers.

Casey - Dr Frankenstein. A mediocre scientist, he created Donnie to prove he’s the best but turns out his creation is smarter than him and he hates it.

Karai - Gorgon (basically Medusa) and yes she can turn peoples into stone if you look into her eyes. Often wears shades or a blind fold to avoid eye contact.

Splinter - Ghost, a wise spirit who’s haunts the Turtles and friends.

Shinigami - Witch (shocker), usually everyone ago to for spells to solve their problems (Ex: Raph once went to her to make him a love potion, and once Slash asked her to help cure his “condition”), but she just messes with them and makes spells that just make their situation even worse.

Mona Lisa - Vampire Hunter. A Van Helsing and is hunting Raph down. Refuses to fall for his tactics and tricks (no matter how charming he is!)

Leatherhead - A sea monster like creature (like the creature of the black lagoon). Was an outsider and loner, bad social skills, but then met and befriended Mikey. He’s slowly opening up more and more when with him.

Slash - Something similar to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, he’s got two personalities that clash (Spike and Slash), he hates it and wishes to be freed from this “cruse”.

Renet - Average human, she’s dating Mikey and he desperately tries to hide the fact he’s a werewolf from her. She already knows.

HC that between all of the boys, the ones who actually get along the best are indeed Donnie and Mikey - whether Donnie likes to admit it or not he enjoys ping-ponging ideas off of Mikey and he comes back with a fresh view he didn't think about. Having his older brother take ideas into account makes him feel smarter, and makes him feel like he isn't as dumb as he thinks he is.

Raph and Leo, though, barely get along if at all. More often than not Leo slips up in what he says, shows weakness as leader and as much as Raph doesn't like it he takes charge of the mission with that. It's frustrating to no end and Splinter doesn't help in enforcing it. Sorry, theres alot of awkwardness in here. Its taking me a lot to submit this.

Um. I dont know if any sourcemates are gonna find this. If you do: hi! Im really scared to talk to any of you, and I miss all of you. Dearly.

But anyways. Im older now. I should be atleast a bit more braver, or smarter, or anything. Im not too scared of the dark anymore, Im just feeling the age get to me (?). I still do like plushies, but there arent anything like what I had back then, which sucks. Theres nothing here that is like home, thankfully.

Michael, or Mike, or even Mikey (if youd let anyone call you that), I really don't forgive you. That doesnt mean I hate you, though. I wouldnt be able to handle that. I just dont think I will ever get over the incident. I know it was a different time, you didnt know it would happen. I could never find it in my heart to hate you, even if I did for a little bit! Seriously, we were all in a tough place and I cant. I cant hate you. You did much more than William could ever do, even though you really werent in the place to be parenting your siblings for crying out loud. Thank you.

"You're not any worse than me," he looks at you with a sympathetic shrug. There's a bit of pain behind his dark eyes, but no more than the usual amount.

You mutter under your breath, "I don't know." Your knuckles are sore from how much you've been wringing them today. Pulling your fingers tightly and squeezing the pops out of them. "You're more likable than me."

He snorts, the sound makes you jump for a second and you lock eyes with his. "I like you way more than you like me."

You glare at him, picking up the crumpled gum wrapper and tossing it at him. "Wrong again."

He flicks the little ball back at you, the wrapper bouncing off your cheek. "You're too hard on yourself, kid. No one talks shit about you the way you do yourself."

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"It means," he sighs as he leans back across the edge of the side walk, leaning far enough back that his hair sprawls out on the grass. He looks comfortable like that, with his arms behind his head and his usual grey hoodie on. Like a street cat napping in a parking lot. "You're better than you think are. Kinder, smarter. You've got a great sense of humor too. Sure, you can be misguided and bit stubborn at times," his eyes meet yours with a smirk, "but I wouldn't change you for the whole world."

You frown down at him as you find yourself laying on the sidewalk beside him, weight on one hip as you bring your face closer to his. "Would you throw away your happy ending just to save my life?"

He looks at your very seriously then, keeping your eyes trapped with his. "Always. No matter how many tries it took."

"That's very selfish of you, Mikey." You say with a smirk, a hand reaching out to straighten the strings of his hoodie. "After all that effort your friends put in to save you."

"I don't care," he says with that carefree smile and airy tone, looking up at the large sky as the clouds pass overhead. "I know I'd go back to save you, and they're just gonna have to live with it."

You let out a little chuckle at his brazenness. Mikey would be like that. Headstrong and reckless.

"See?" He smiles as he locks eyes with you again. "I told you I was worse."

And the smile that spreads across your face is warm and soothing. It's a genuine feeling. Of being cared for. Of being cherished. Of knowing that, vices and all, Manjiro Sano cared for you above all else.

honestly I just don't know where I should or supposed to put it. it'd be better to keep to myself, but I feel like my own thoughts will harm me more than help others. if you choose to read it — you burden yourself with my worries by your own will. if you decide to reply, be mindful. feelings are complicated, and so are sensetive topics. thanks

those are some sketches I did as some kind of vent to feel better. I don't think I ever made something so self-indulgent, even if they look useless and empty. when I thought about turning my mind into drawing, I couldn't connect to anyone but Mikey. I really wanted it to be someone I aspire to be, someone who's a better and smarter version of myself so I can feel nice about it, but I don't think I'm able to do it. I might be doing the same thing with Mike I myself fear the most, not taking him seriously or simply disregarding him as the second option.

last few months I didn't feel too good about my art or myself. it's a lot of thoughts, and I expressed them as best as I could only for drawing to be the same figure in different clothes. it all means something, but when people see it they can only say what it is for a fact - lifeless shit. I'm being harsh, but everyday I feel so dissapointed in myself. drawing another mindless character, I feel like I'm wasting someone else's time. I just wish people would unfollow me, so I can feel unimportant and so I can finally just be here and not bother someone who I actually care for. I am tied to others opinions and acceptance, but it'd be so much easier if it was just crashed once for good. this doesn't make many sense, but, again, it's a vent. I won't expect much from me.

I felt like a second option so much. it's kinda dissapoiting, seeing myself get worse and worse. I get so genuienly upset when this one person jokes about me being somehow stupid, even if it's all about what I actually did or do. I look up to them like some kind of inspiration, and I know why they're better. they try, they spend their time, they struggle so much and yet they manage to keep doing all these things everyday as if it's normal. it is, it's just me being so fucking lazy. I know that when people talk to me they only do so because they know my friend, and I don't even mind all that much anymore. every connection I have outside of them makes me cling to it so hard it's embarrassing. I love them. and I mean it, I don't even lie in this post — this is simply what it is. I love them so much and I'd never wish them any harm or envy them, I know how and why they get what they do and I only hope that they'll keep getting better. it's just that I don't feel like I deserve being here, much less exist. I'm dumb, I'm talentless, I'm lazy, I'm so awkward and I can't even function like normal human being. having flaws in pronunciation and having to adjust your every word so people won't ask you to repeat as you get more and more embarrassed is genuienly disgusting. I hope I'll end this one day.

usually I'm the optimistic one, and I just continued with it as some kind of character trait I have to follow. I'm loud and open and don't have shame and I hate this to pieces, but I also wonder if they'd be able to replace me if I'm just too out of place. if I'm being extra, maybe I'm worth this little something and love I get. lately, I've been just apathetic. I zone out so much and usually don't pay attention, and I'm ashamed. I'm such a crybaby, but even that is better than just feeling so tired you're not sure if you can keep going. I hate myself and how I look or sound, and this is just gross. I'm gross, in any way and capacity. I don't deserve anything I get and I don't deserve my family nor connections. I feel like I trick everyone, getting so anxious before getting closer just because I don't know if they secretly hate me — it's worse when I can tell they don't. when they actually like my company, even if they can do so much better. I'm sorry if I don't respond. I just don't want to burden anyone else.

hope and sacrifice.

I need to expand on this more on here because I'm going insane thinking about this.

the main themes in the rise movie center around hope and sacrifice. hope, being a ninjas greatest weapon and what leo ultimately uses to get the team motivated, and sacrifice which leo actively uses. these two concepts are interchangeable and are used to develop this unhealthy view of being a hero.

leo being the prime example of this.

leo is notorious for being a martyr in the movie not because he wants to be self sacrificial and thinks he deserves it (although a small part of him might think that) but because thats what he's been taught and grown up to think. of taking responsibility. of allowing to take hold of the "burden" of caring for his team, for his brothers. he must sacrifice a part of himself in order to be a worthy leader. no more immature pizza stacking competitions, no, leo must sacrifice that part in order to mold into being a leader. he must sacrifice his childhood.

its no surprise leo wants nothing to do with this idea, its no surprise he's constantly rebelling against this notion and not taking it seriously because as much as we have seen leo act dumb and immature, we know that he is smarter than he acts. he knows that being a leader is sacrificing the part of freedom he loves so much. the part that can joke around with his brothers and can allow himself to easily fight off bad guys without worrying because thats not his job. he's just leo.

thats raphs job.

raph has sacrificed this part of himself. his identity is surrounded by being the oldest, being the responsible one, having the "raph chasm", being the leader. raph was born as the eldest son to take the responsibility and with little to no help from splinter (because lets be honest raphs relationship with his brothers is also very parental), raph has had to create this idea of what being a leader is not only to himself but for his brothers. he has created the mold of being a leader from shows, from experiences, from being the oldest. he must sacrifice a part of himself, a part of his freedom, a part of his childhood, in order for his brothers to be safe.

and now his younger brother is being pushed into this with little to no warning.

(now I could go on and on about how the season 2 finale was the catalyst for raph and leos bond and brotherhood to slowly unravel BUT thats another thread.)

the rejection of the leader position from leos perspective makes so much sense. leo is still a kid. this responsibility isn't for him, he's not equipped to make these decisions. thats for raph. thats for the oldest.

which makes why raph is so upset with leo in the beginning of the movie so much more real. all he's known is this great weight of carrying the burden and guilt of his brothers and the actions that could cause them to get hurt, he has taken the fall, taken the blame, and has done so without faltering (kind of). although leo is the "faceman", all of the brothers show some sort of mask to hide behind in an unhealthy way. donnie hides behind his science and his title of being the "smart one", mikey hides behind the fact that he is the youngest and his many dr. personas. leo and raph both hide behind some form of bravado that masks the fear they have for their brothers and their safety. raph uses his anger while leo uses his laid back attitude. both are hiding their fear. their both scared.

this is where hope and sacrifice begin to blur.

casey jr. introduces us to the idea of hope because he essentially is the human personified version of hope. he is future leos last hope. he is what is left of an entire civilization that has now been destroyed. but what is hope without sacrifice. casey jr. has witnessed both future mikey and future leo sacrifice themselves for the greater good. for hope. since this is all casey jr. has ever known, especially with how he grew up (another major theme but ill talk about that another time) the idea of sacrifice is hand in hand with hope. with winning. with being a hero.

so when leo comes back after raph sacrifices himself so leo can escape, casey jr. is more thrilled than anything that they have the key. because they "won", because raph sacrificed himself, because hope is nothing without sacrifice.

and this is again another reason why leo begins to put the two together and create his own warped idea of being a leader.

being a hero.

learning about his future self, of how much casey jr. idolizes him and calls him "the greatest ninja the worlds ever seen", of how he was a leader and led the entire revolution. of how he saved the world by sacrificing himself. its only until raph does the same does the gears begin to turn.

being a leader is about sacrifice.

and so getting thrown into the prison dimension is the responsible thing to do. its the right thing. its the sacrifice that someone like leo believes is what a leader would do because yeah leos the leader now and leaders do whatever they can to make sure their team is safe.

that their brothers are safe.

the words "its not about me" play into this mindset and although by the end it helps leo learn that he needs to put more trust in his brothers and allow the burden of being a leader to fall on more than his shoulders, "its not about you" is exactly the mindset that raph had in the beginning of the movie. and because of this, raph and leo both are stuck in this cycle of responsibility and freedom. of having to navigate between wanting to sacrifice their future of being heroes in order to just live like normal people for a few minutes or sacrifice their own individuality to bare the weight of the world on their shoulders. and with their situation of being literal mutated turtles created only to become super soldiers, they automatically are deemed special and were brought into this world in hopes of fighting against humanity.

A ninjas greatest weapon is hope after all.
