Minthara and Gale would low-key make a good couple. Sorry to all the lesbian Minthara truthers, while it is true that woman has strong kitty licker energy, part of the charm for me is to throw this hairy depressed man at the woman raised in a society where men are generally slaves and servants, and instead of being intimidated by her he approaches her like one would a stray cat one intends to befriend; with annoying persistence and far too much delight over being scratched.

I’ve only managed to recruit her in act two once*, so I’m not familiar enough to know.

But in a Minthara x God!Gale ship, what goddess would she end up being?

Cause obviously she’s going to encourage him in his ambition, and ascend with him. So who keeps the God of Ambition on a leash? Will she start shit with other gods?

I’m so curious about Goddess!Minthara.

Okay okay I can't write this as a fic atm bcs I am so entrenched in my Teacher!Minthara x Obsessed!Student fic but I do have some humble offerings:

So I'm imagining it like some sort of secret affair that is definitely not a secret like everyone knows they are banging, the students, the staff, everyone

but they think (Minthara thinks) it's so under wraps

Minthara will be leaving his classroom and Gale hasn't wiped off her lipstick from his lips and a student points it out and he's like teehee oh really !

He loves it

especially as since the affair his students have become much more well behaved so not to attract the wrath of Professor Baenre

Professor Baenre's students love Professor Dekarios though if she is in a bad mood they always blame him

One student had a misfortune of muttering it under their breath when Professor Baenre decided to spring a test on them to ensure they were not caught slacking.

Something along the lines of 'Professor Dekarios hasn't done his job today then"

It was said that day, a portion of hell broke through the surface of the world.

Minthara will just storm into Gale's room, throw Tara out of a nearby window (she'll be fine, Gale's office is on the ground floor) and push him onto his desk where things get hot n' heavy

Tara is not a fan of this arrangement and Gale always scolds Minthara but his lecture doesn't last long when her tongue is down his throat.

Minthara will always say that their affair is born out of practicality and necessity, and yet insists that neither of them can have any other sexual partners - why risk being unsafe?

that Gale should always keep Friday nights available for her beck and call (she is there every Friday night, with a bottle of nice wine)

that they will never be anything more (she has to hold herself back from saying she loves the fool)

When Minthara hears that there was an accident in Gale's laboratory she abandons her class to see if he was okay.

He's in the nurses office getting treated for burns not realising that's not the only 3rd degree he'll be getting.

Minthara is so mad at him and yet all he can do is smile at her, she's tearing up over him

Which only makes her angrier saying how she doesn't understand how he didn't kill himself at birth

She tries to persuade him to take earlier retirement, insisting that he is incapable at teaching

he is warmed by the sentiment - it's Minthara showing she cares in her own special way

Gale leaves his tower and goes into the underdark to either seek out some obscure artifact that can help with orb problem or to just die deep underground where he can't hurt anyone (depending on your preferred level of angst)

Minthara is either cast out or sent to some busywork mission to get her out of the way of the More Important Baenres

Gale almost dies to some terrible underdark monster but Minthara slays it and he is so infinitely grateful, also someone to talk to

Minthara can see value in a wizard/time bomb even if he's... You know 😒

Toxic relationship ensues.

You can go for character study, plots and intrigue, underdark world building, all kinds of stuff

A Troublesome Bunny Appears! Gale/Minthara AU

This bunny has several cases of emotional baggage with it, but that should be all the more reason to take it home and see what's inside!

Drow politics and the troubles of a Wizard with a terrible curse combine in the dark to bring this plot together, with plenty of room for the two to make each other worse. Will Minthara only ever see him as a tool to use for her own gain? Will Gale even be opposed to the idea of someone else using him so selfishly, because being wanted is better than being cast aside? What happens when two ambitious souls cross paths without the influence of the tadpole?

There is an issue in this community with misstagged fics on AO3, specifically in the FxF tags. I don't know if it's going to reach the actual people or not but I'm still going to put this here:

A lot of MxM and FxM are tagging FxF ships in the main relationship category despite the ship itself only being written in the background.

Which is a problem because when you go into your ship tag to find fics of your ship, a ridiculous amount of them are off topic. And while yes you can lower that amount significantly by filtering and tag exclusion, AO3 has a built in feature that is made to avoid this.

I am going to use the Shadowzel tag for that because it's the most popular FxF ship on there and it's also one of the most misstagged rn. As of right now, there is 607 fics in the Shadowzel tag without filter. If you restrict the search to only include FxF, you are down to 397 fics. That is more than a third gone!

And it gets rid of some shadowzel content as well, so it's either you filter that out or you have to scroll through a tag where 1 out of 3 fics are about Astarion, Gale, Halsin, etc instead of the ship you looked up.

If your fic, let's take for example a Tav x Astarion, has either consistent mention of Shadowheart x Lae'zel, the most popular wlw ship, or has them in the background as support characters, or even just mentions them as a funny little wink and you want to make sure your readers know they are in here, you do not use the relationship tag! You go down to the additional tags and add "Minor Lae'zel/Shadowheart (Baldur's Gate)".

Unless the pairing you are tagging is the main focus or have a significant role and spotlight on them, you should not use the relationship tag! It clogs the feed for no reason, AO3 is not a website where you have to advertise your posts to the most tags possible.
