Everyday Objects with Magical Properties ✨
Simple magic hidden in plain sight.
🪞 The Magic of Mirrors: Reflecting Intentions and Energy
Mirrors aren’t just for checking your reflection — they’re powerful magical tools. They amplify your energy, reflect negativity, and can even act as portals for deep inner work.
Ways to use mirror magic: 🔮 Whisper affirmations or wishes to your reflection each morning. 🔮 Place a small mirror facing outward by your front door to bounce negative energy away. 🔮 Journal while sitting in front of a mirror to reveal hidden truths about yourself.
When you look into a mirror today, remember: you’re not just seeing yourself — you’re seeing infinite potential. 🖤
🧂 Salt: Purification and Protection in Your Kitchen
Salt is one of the oldest magical tools in the world — found right in your kitchen. It’s powerful for cleansing, protecting, and blessing.
Simple salt magic: 🧂 Sprinkle a ring of salt around candles or spellwork for a shield of protection. 🧂 Add salt to your cleaning water to spiritually cleanse your home. 🧂 Keep a small bowl of salt near your front door to trap negativity before it can enter.
Next time you’re cooking, bless your salt and stir a little magic into every meal. 🥣
🔑 Keys: Unlocking New Opportunities and Paths
Keys are ancient symbols of access, opportunity, and unlocking hidden doors. Old keys, new keys — they all carry powerful magic if you know how to listen.
Magic ways to use keys: 🗝️ Wear a key on a necklace, charged with your intentions for new beginnings. 🗝️ Sleep with a key under your pillow during a new moon to dream of future paths. 🗝️ Use two keys tied together — one for closing old cycles, one for unlocking fresh starts.
Which doors are you ready to open today? 🔓

Transmutation Warding: Feeding Off The Haters
• Welcome Back, Seekers! Within my local coven, we’ve turned our focus to warding and protection magick as we prepare for the year ahead. I adore transmutation magick for warding! It’s one of my favorite ways to craft shields for myself, my work, my growth, and my success. Instead of constantly bracing for every hex, evil eye, or ill wish, this approach flips the narrative. Transmutation wards work proactively, taking any negativity sent your way and alchemizing it into fuel for your growth and power. Why waste energy defending against haters or uncovering their identities when you can let their spite feed your fire? Let them send their malice—it’ll only make you more powerful.
As always, take what resonates with your spirit and weave it into your own unique magick! My spells and workings are here to spark your creativity and inspire your craft. ✨
--------
Tools & Ingredients:
1 black candle (to absorb negativity)
1 purple candle (for transmutation and spiritual power)
Thread or Cord (any color)
A mirror (to summon your Fetch Spirit or reflect your essence)
1 clear quartz crystal or any charm you’re called to that can be left on your altar or within your space -  As a subtle sentinel of the ward’s power, clear quartz is a cherished ally in magick. Its ability to be easily programmed makes it a perfect vessel for your intention, while its amplifying nature ensures the energy of your working radiates far and wide. To the untrained eye, it appears as nothing more than a beautiful crystal resting upon your altar or within your sacred space—a discreet guardian cloaked in plain sight, silently weaving its protective spell.
Optional: Chalk or something to draw a circle (for creating a sacred boundary to hold the enchantment of your crystal or charm. If chalk is unavailable, let your finger become the wand. You can also use salt or any symbols you would like to use to draw out a circle.
--------
Preparation:
Cleanse your workspace and tools with smoke, salt water, or another method of your choosing.
Candle preparation, take your black candle and anoint it with a neutral oil, something simple like canola oil—or any oil you feel connected to for protection. Once it’s dressed in oil, sprinkle it with herbs known for protection, such as basil, bay, black pepper, cinnamon, or clove—or any protection herbs that resonate with your magick. For the purple candle, I like to use a neutral oil as well, then dress it with herbs that are perfect for transmutation, like lady’s mantle and yucca. Along with those, I often add a pinch of herbs that represent success and abundance—and don’t forget to include a bit of your hair, fingernail clippings, or something from your person to taglock the magick, connecting the work directly to your energy. Then bind the candles together with some thread or cord.
Binding the Candles:
Take the black and purple candles and begin winding the thread around them, chanting this, or create your own:
"I bind these flames, black and purple entwined,
Protection and transmutation, powers combined.
Through thread and flame, my will takes hold,
To guard my essence, fierce and bold."
Tumblr media
You don't have to go all out like I did with those massive candles. Honestly, a couple of chime candles will do the trick if you're short on time.
3. Place your mirror above the center of your altar or working space, positioning it to reflect either yourself or the flickering flames of your candles (refer to the caption below the next picture for more context). Let it serve as a portal, amplifying the energy of your work. Arrange your candles in a fire-safe dish at the center—I often favor a trusty aluminum pie pan for this purpose.
4. Hold your crystal or charm in your hands, letting your energy flow into it. Visualize your purpose, your will, and your desire imprinting itself upon the object. Once your intention feels vibrant and alive within the crystal or charm, move it in a clockwise circle around the candles, envisioning it connecting to the fiery energy of your working—like a thread weaving them together.
5. When the circuit feels complete, place the charged crystal or charm before the candles. Now, cast a circle around the entire space, sealing in the energy. You can do this energetically, feeling the boundary forming with your will, or use chalk, salt, or symbols drawn ahead of time to anchor the space. This sacred boundary holds the power of your work, ensuring that your charm becomes fully and beautifully enchanted. And now, it's time to spark the flame on them candles.
Tumblr media
I used a selenite tower in this picture as a stand-in to show where your crystal or charm should be placed. This isn’t the actual charm I used, but it gives you an idea of the setup. You’ll also notice my altar mirror hanging just above the space, perfectly positioned for the energy work. If hanging a mirror isn’t an option for you, no worries—simply place one in front of your working area instead. The reflection is what matters most!
--------
Casting The Ward:
Lighting the Candles:
With the bound candles before the mirror. Light them, starting with the black candle, then the purple, and then chant this, or create your own:
"Black flame of shadow, guard and protect,
Purple flame of spirit, energy redirect.
Before this mirror, realms align,
My (Fetch Spirit/Reflection) carries this spell through time."
Incantation of The Ward:
Face the mirror and focus on your reflection, summoning your Fetch Spirit or the reflection of your empowered self. Chant this incantation, or create your own:
"Anyone who cannot honor my essence,
Respect my growth, or stand in my presence,
Be it through disdain, envy, or intent,
Their fate is sealed, their malice spent.
Their energy flows to me, transformed,
Into strength, abundance, success reborn.
As I feed upon their misguided spite,
They are drained by their own blight.
Across all realms, my shield is spun,
Now and forever, this spell is done."
Seal the Energy:
Visualize the mirror reflecting the power of your spell into the cosmos, spreading the ward across all realms. Allow the candles to burn fully if possible, or snuff them out respectfully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love this picture! The flames intertwine perfectly, mirroring the energy I was aiming for in this ward of protective transmutation.
--------
Aftercare:
Charging your crystal or charm: Leave your charm on your altar or in your space as a representation of the ward. Each full moon, place it under the moonlight to recharge its energy, visualizing the ward growing stronger with every cycle.
Mirror Care: Cleanse the mirror after the spellwork with smoke or moon water to ensure it remains a neutral tool for future workings.
Final Words:
Maintain your crystal or charm as a talisman of your protective transmutation ward and remember that this ward will work continuously as long as you charge it and feed it with belief and intention.
Stay Wild, Stay Magickal, & Keep Seeking, Seekers!

LOCKING YOUR MIRROR (A Very Brief Guide)
Tumblr media
Hey, beginners!
I wanted to share a quick post about how to lock your mirrors as personally I see it as a necessary protective practice, especially if you're involving yourself with mirror magic or glamour magic.
As my usual disclaimer, this is simply my knowledge and my teachings that I've come across & developed through research, speaking with others, cultural teachings, etc. However, everyone has the right to believe what they like, I just hope this serves as beneficial to some of you somehow, whether it be providing information you resonate with or just teaching you something cool.
And as my usual reminder to any beginner or baby witch... MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THOROUGH PROTECTIONS!
Comment any questions :D
Tumblr media
The Important Info
1. Cleanse your mirror (& stake claim to your mirror if that's in your practice as well; recommended)
2. Walk up to your mirror (of course)
3. Put your hand up to the mirror like you're holding a key
4. Turn your hand (“turn the key”), “locking” the mirror
5. Speak out loud “I am locking this mirror. Nothing may pass through this mirror. It is not a usable or working portal.”
6. Tell the beings behind the mirror to go away, ignore their reaction and wait for them to leave (99% chance they'll leave after a bit), AND DON’T ENTER THE MIRROR REALM
Tumblr media
Good luck & I hope this helped!

✨ Locking mirrors ✨
Tumblr media
I recently got a mirror and wanted to put it in on my altar. Before doing that I wanted to ensure it was locked and spiritually ready to do, especially with it being in such an important location for me.
By many in the occult and spiritual communities mirrors are seen as portals, with connections to the other side and each other. Some practitioners now go out of their way to ensure that portal can’t be accessed by others.
Locking a mirror is simply putting a protection enchantment on it, with a millions what’s to do it. When doing this I like to ensure the mirror is thoroughly cleansed, usually using smoke in addition to a cleansing water. Often people then draw a symbol on the mirror. This can be anything from the pentacle to sigils, runes, alchemy symbols or the elements symbols. I draw mine on with my favorite protection oil. Once I’m finished I like to physically clean the mirror again, while focusing on the energy I’ve put down spreading over and coating the mirror fully. This process can be down a few times a year, whenever your intuition pops up and tells you it needs to be done.

Mirror Magic: Portals, Protection, & Power 🪞
Mirrors aren’t just for reflection — they’re gateways, wards, and tools of truth. Across cultures, they’ve been seen as portals to other realms or the soul itself. In magic, they become both shield and scrying glass.
👁️‍🗨️ Folklore Notes:
• Covering mirrors during mourning prevents spirits from getting trapped
• Mirrors facing each other can open a “spirit corridor” (a big no unless you’re ready)
• Breaking a mirror = 7 years bad luck? It’s more like 7 years of disturbed energy
• Vampires don’t reflect because they have no soul to show
🌒 Magical Uses:
• Scrying: Use a black mirror or darkened surface to gaze into the unseen
• Warding: Place a mirror facing out your window or door to reflect curses & evil
• Truth spells: Hold a mirror while speaking affirmations or asking for clarity
• Spirit work: Use mirror portals for controlled connection (advanced & not for casual contact)
• Banishing: Write the name of someone toxic on a mirror, and symbolically “cut” the tie
🪞 Witch Tip: Never sleep with a mirror facing your bed.. it can invite dreams you didn’t ask for.
Handle with care. Magic and mirrors both reflect more than what’s visible.

Summoning the Fetch: A Mirror Magick Enchantment
Welcome back, Seekers! In my local coven, we’ve just completed a journey through the mysteries of Spirit, diving into the magick of the Fetch Spirit. Since many of you enjoyed the Spirit House post, I thought it only fitting to share a glimpse into the Fetch Spirit here. This practice was inspired by the wisdom found in "The Crooked Path" book a few years ago. As always, take what resonates with your soul, weave it into your craft, and make it uniquely your own. 🌙✨
What Is The Fetch Spirit?
In the craft of Spirit Work and Traditional Witchery, the fetch spirit is a vital thread in the tapestry of a Witch’s soul. Many paths teach that the soul is a trinity, woven from the higher self, the mid-self, and the lower self. The fetch spirit dwells in the depths of the lower self, tethered to the Underworld and the shadowy realms of the unconscious. It is the raw, instinctual force within us, rooted in primal needs like safety and comfort.
The fetch can be seen as the ID of our being—a wild, emotional current that stirs intuition through gut feelings and instinctual nudges, often acting as our unseen protector. By forging a relationship with the fetch, a Witch may delve into the hidden chambers of emotion, amplify intuitive knowing, and tap the deep well of the unconscious mind.
Skilled Witches often call upon their fetch to walk between worlds or perform workings on their behalf, leaving the Witch present in one realm while their fetch accomplishes tasks in another. This spirit companion may mirror the Witch’s form or manifest as an animal—its connection to our instinctual nature shaping it into the guise of a hare, cat, bird, or other creature. Such shapeshifting recalls the old tales of witches transforming into beasts, yet it is not the Witch’s body that changes but their fetch slipping into an animal guise to carry out the work.
Still, the lore carries warnings: the fetch and the Witch are bound as one. Any harm that befalls the fetch could ripple back to the Witch. Tales of fetches wounded in the Otherworld, with their Witches bearing matching scars, remind us of the sacred balance in working with this primal part of ourselves. Though physical harm may be rare today, the stories caution us to approach this work with reverence, care, and the wisdom of those who have walked the crooked path before us.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Summoning the Fetch: A Mirror Magick Enchantment
Purpose: Enlist the power of the Fetch Spirit with this enchanted mirror working, creating a portal between realms. Once the mirror is enchanted it can be placed on or above your altar, allowing the Fetch to reflect your magickal workings across the seen and unseen worlds. Let its gaze weave your intentions through the threads of all realms, amplifying your craft with otherworldly connection and power.
Timing: Dark Moon
Ingredients:
A Mirror - I personally favor antique silver-backed mirrors for this work, as they hold a conductive energy, but truly, any mirror will do. It is the intent and the magick you weave that brings the mirror to life.
Candles: Tealights or Pillars
Crossroads Smoke Blend or Spray
Offering
To begin, create your ritual space by arranging the candles in a circle upon the ground, with the mirror placed at the center—acting as a portal to the unseen, where you can see your reflection. Cleanse the mirror thoroughly before use, using either sacred smoke or a spritz of a Crossroads blend to clear and consecrate its surface. For this, I favor a simple but potent, crafted blend:
✨ Mugwort: For consecration, astral travel, and cleansing magickal mirrors. ✨ Wormwood: To summon and open the veil. ✨ Fumitory: To conjure, commune with chthonic spirits, and weave connection with the shadowed realms.
To craft a crossroads spray, steep your herbs in alcohol (60 to 100 proof works best for potent extraction) for at least one full moon cycle before your ritual work.
Once your sacred space is prepared, pause to ground yourself and step into the magickal circle. Take the crossroads smoke and begin circling your ritual space clockwise, letting the smoke weave its power around the candles. Walk the space as many times as feels right—allow the rhythm to guide you deeper into a trance-like state, where the veil between worlds begins to thin.
Now, light your candles and summon the crossroads, quarters, corners, or whatever energies resonate with your craft. I have my own way of calling these forces, but follow your instincts, trust your practice, and call forth what speaks to your spirit. Let the magick unfold as it will.
Once the Crossroads has been summoned, step up to the mirror and let your gaze fall upon the mirror. Lock eyes with your reflection, peering into the depths of your soul. Hold your focus unwaveringly, let your thoughts fade and your vision soften. Through your eyes, reach into the mirror, descending into the shadowy realms of the Underworld where your true essence lies hidden. When the connection stirs, speak words of power, such as:
"I summon my fetch on this dark moon night,
My astral twin, shadowed self, and tethered light.
I call you forth from the depths below,
Rise through this mirror, let your presence show."
Feel the energy shift as the boundaries thin, and your fetch begins to stir within the liminal space. Whisper words of kindness and praise to your fetch spirit, calling it forth from the shadows, until it you feel that it has stepped into the mirror’s gaze. Let your words weave a bridge, a thread of connection, until the spirit answers your call.
Once you've forged a connection with your fetch, it’s time to lay down your intentions, terms, and conditions for your pact. In spirit work, clarity is everything—be precise about its purpose, your expectations, and how you’ll nourish and honor this relationship through offerings. Spirit dealings can be unpredictable, so taking care to establish firm boundaries ensures a smoother partnership.
Consider crafting a unique signal or calling method, such as a specific whistle, gesture, or phrase, to summon your fetch when its aid is required. By setting these foundations, you not only honor the fetch spirit but also weave a bond of trust and power into your craft. Also, consider writing your pact in your own hand, sealing it with your name, and offering it to the flames. As the smoke rises, it carries your intentions into the other realms, weaving them into the unseen. Again, do what calls to you.
When you feel your Fetch working has reached its conclusion and the connection has been made, step even closer to the mirror and bind the connection by kissing your reflection in the mirror, pressing your hand against its surface, or breathing a sacred breath of life toward your Fetch. Then, speak this incantation, or craft your own words of power, to seal the enchantment:
I am you, and you are me, Bound together, tethered free. Two as one, spirit and form, In sacred union, magick born.
Together we weave, together we bind, Power awakened, paths aligned. By will and craft, let it be, My Fetch and I, in harmony.
When the energy feels settled and the rite is complete, extinguish your candles, place the mirror in its sacred resting place, give thanks, and leave an offering in gratitude.
______________________________________________________________
May your magick flow with unwavering strength, ever potent and true. As you work with the Fetch Mirror, may the veil between worlds grow thin, and may the power of your spirit and its reflection guide your path with clarity and purpose. Blessed be. ✨

Introduction
Mirrors harbor a unique and paradoxical role, often existing at the intersection of clarity and obfuscation. Throughout the annals of history, these reflective surfaces have been the subject of mystic fascination and contemplation. Shrouded in a mysterious aura, mirrors are an integral component of various mystical practices across diverse cultures.
A seminal instance is observed within the African Yoruba tradition, where mirrors are emblematic of Oshun, the deity of beauty, love, and prosperity. Here, these reflective surfaces serve as conduits to divine insight, manifesting the ethereal into the perceptible. Parallel to this, in the indigenous cultures of the Amazonian Shipibo-Conibo people, mirrors - often represented by reflective surfaces of water - are perceived as gateways to understanding the complex layers of the universe, thus embodying a significant spiritual tool. Moreover, in many East Asian practices, mirrors carry deep symbolic significance and are fundamental in rituals aiming to ward off malevolent forces. Among the Ainu people of Japan, for instance, mirrors function as amulets, protecting the holder from supernatural harm.
Tumblr media
Mirrors as Portals
A ubiquitous yet perplexing facet is the concept of mirrors functioning as portals. These reflective surfaces, more than mere decorative elements or vanity tools, hold a quintessential place in mystic and magical practice, extending beyond their ordinary use to become intermediaries between the unknown and the practitioner. Diving into the understanding of mirrors, one might read about their role as gateways. The duality of mirrors, both reflective and transparent, presents a tantalizing paradox: what they display isn't a mere reflection, but an alternate universe or spiritual plane. This dichotomy positions mirrors as a connective threshold, an aperture between the observable and the unknown, the physical and the mystical. Despite their allure, mirrors necessitate careful handling within a magical context. It is a common misconception that mirrors only function as portals during explicit rituals. However, their latent potential as conduits should not be overlooked. Consequently, it's paramount that mirrors remain shrouded or safeguarded within consecrated spaces to prevent inadvertent connections to unwelcome energies. Approaching this aspect with a measure of respect and precaution is instrumental in maintaining the equilibrium of such spaces.
Historically, the mirror's role as a portal is discernible across a myriad of cultural contexts. In Greek mythology, Narcissus fell victim to his reflection in a pool of water, demonstrating an early symbol of mirrors as deceptive portals to the ego. In Chinese folklore, the mythical creature Nüwa repaired the heavens using a seven-colored stone, comparable to a mirror, again associating these reflective surfaces with cosmic transitions.
Mirrors often represent truth, knowledge, and self-awareness, owing to their reflective properties. However, their potential as portals imbues them with added dimensions of mystery, transformation, and transition. The mirror, in this context, becomes a metaphor for change and personal evolution, presenting a liminal space where the known meets the unknown, thereby offering new possibilities and perspectives.
Given the energetic properties inherent in mirrors, they should always be treated as portals. Their constituent materials - silica and silver - interact in such a way that a subtle, yet potent, energetic field is generated, a field potentially capable of bridging multiple planes. To ensure safety, mirrors should be handled with respect and caution. They should be appropriately covered or warded when not in use, especially within sanctified spaces. It is also recommended to cleanse mirrors regularly to reset their energetic state and prevent any residual energies from accumulating.
Energetic Interactions & Metaphysics
Energetic Interactions
Amid the energetic symphony of the universe, each object reverberates its unique energetic signature, contributing to the collective composition. Mirrors, with their paradoxical and captivating nature, have often been the center of esoteric investigation. This intrigue is rooted not only in their physical attributes but also in their nuanced energetic interactions.
To comprehend the energetic interplay of mirrors, one must first examine the properties of its constituent components. Primarily, mirrors are composed of glass, a substance formed from the supercooling of molten silica into a quasicrystalline structure. Coating the back of this silica-based surface is a thin layer of reflective metal, usually aluminum or silver.
Silica is very insulative, and negentropic, meaning that its natural energetic state eventually resets regardless of influence. It is also Attractive, meaning that it slowly pulls other energetic compounds to itself. Due to the quasicrystalline structure, glass is refractive and enthalpic, meaning that it becomes thermal under pressure- or releases energy. Silver is conductive and repulsive in nature. Due to how silver atoms prefer to arrange themselves (a face-centered cubic lattice) it also tends to be very metastable, meaning that its natural energetic state is not prone to change regardless of energetic interactions. Because the two are constantly next to each other, because of the silver backing, the negentropic nature of the silica causes an energetic cycle of attraction and repulsion, this oscillation combined with the conductive nature of silver and the entropic nature of glass generates a small energetic field. While this is normally negligible, it creates the perfect environment for the propagation of connections between spaces or planes that are out of phase with our own.
The unique composition of mirrors implicates a distinct effect on the ambient energy. Mirrors, with their inherent vibrational resonance, can both pull and push energy, thereby influencing the surrounding energetic atmosphere. The capacity of mirrors to manipulate energy finds practical applications in the sphere of spellwork and energy transmutation. Through their reflective properties, mirrors can serve as effective tools in spells that involve redirection or amplification of energy. They can be used to create energetic boundaries, return energetic influences, or focus and multiply ambient energy and energetic projections.
Common Metaphysics of Mirrors
The mirror, with its intrinsic capacity to reflect, serves as a potent symbol of the Jungian 'Shadow' - the hidden aspects of one's psyche that are often suppressed or ignored. Through the act of looking into a mirror, one is invited to confront and acknowledge these facets, facilitating a journey towards holistic self-awareness. The mirror, in this respect, catalyzes self-reflection and introspection, propelling an individual towards self-understanding and acceptance. Delving into the sphere of mirror magic uncovers its profound connection to personal transformation. The reflective nature of mirrors encapsulates the principle of change, embodying the potential for alteration and transformation. As such, mirror magic can be utilized as a tool for self-development and evolution, offering a means to focus energy towards constructive change. Beyond symbolism and transformation, the metaphysical properties of mirrors warrant exploration. Mirrors, by their construction and function, are potent energetic entities. The amalgamation of silica and metallic elements results in a unique vibrational resonance, enabling the mirror to absorb, store, and emit energy. This energetic characteristic, coupled with the mirror's reflective capacity, amplifies its metaphysical potency, making it an influential tool in various mystical practices. Moreover, the reflective nature of mirrors aligns them with the principle of 'as above, so below', a concept found in various esoteric traditions. This principle speaks to interconnectedness, suggesting that what occurs on one level of reality also happens on another. Mirrors could, therefore, serve as a solid physical replacement for any correspondence necessary.
Tumblr media
Divination, Spells, & Ritual
In the enigmatic arena of divination, mirrors command a distinctive presence. Among various techniques, scrying - the act of gazing into a reflective surface to perceive spiritual messages - emerges as a common method of introspection and foreknowledge. This practice unfolds as a tripartite process, encompassing the scrying ritual, technique, and subsequent interpretation.
Scrying, an ancient form of divination, leverages the reflective properties of reflective surfaces, like mirrors, to delve into the psyche, unveil hidden knowledge, or prognosticate future events. This technique transcends conventional sensory perception, engaging instead with subconscious and/or spiritual entities. The mirror functions as a medium, harnessing and focusing the widened attention in order to project images or symbols onto the reflective surface. These visual constructs carry messages from the spiritual domain, providing insights that range from self-understanding to predictive revelations.
Techniques & Rituals for Scrying
Executing mirror scrying necessitates a meticulous approach. Often, the process commences with the preparation of the space and the individual. Creating a tranquil environment, devoid of disruptive elements, facilitates a deeper, unhindered connection with the spiritual plane. Personal preparation includes grounding and centering exercises to align the individual's energy with the ambient energy of the environment. They then place a light source between them and the reflective surface. Once prepared, the practitioner enters a meditative state, allowing their gaze to soften and unfocus while looking into the mirror. This passive observation invites subconscious impressions to surface and be displayed on the mirror. Maintaining an open mind and a receptive state is crucial, as the visions or symbols may not be immediately clear or might require subsequent interpretation.
Interpretation of Images & Symbols in Reflections
Post the scrying experience, the practitioner embarks on the task of interpreting the observed symbols or images. This phase is intrinsically subjective, as the significance of the symbols often rests within the personal context of the observer and their held convictions and correspondences. However, there are common archetypes and symbols that carry collective meanings, which can provide a starting point for interpretation.
For instance, water-themed images might signify movement, emotions, or the unconscious, while an image of a bird might symbolize freedom or spiritual elevation. However, these interpretations are not rigid, and the practitioner must trust their intuition to derive the true message from the symbols. Being able to pull specific concepts from abstraction can be an invaluable tool in this practice. Moreover, it's worth noting that the absence of specific images during scrying does not indicate failure. Sometimes, the experience might be more of an energetic shift or a feeling, which are equally valid forms of divinatory communication.
Examples of mirror spells for different applications
Harnessing the power of mirrors, one can devise a multitude of spells tailored for diverse purposes. One such example pertains to protection, where a mirror can serve as a shield to deflect negative energy. Here, the mirror is positioned facing outward, symbolically repelling unwanted influences, thereby safeguarding the individual or space.
Another practical application can be found in the realm of healing. A mirror, due to its reflective nature, can be utilized to channel and focus healing energy towards a specific target. For instance, an inscription or symbol associated with health could be drawn on the mirror surface. Subsequently, this healing symbol is then "activated" by focusing one's concentration on it, allowing the mirror to magnify the healing intention.
Mirror spells also prove instrumental in the domain of self-improvement. One may write or speak affirmations into a mirror, thereby employing its reflective capability to reinforce positive change. The mirror's surface serves to amplify the affirmation, aiding in its internalization and materialization.
Ritual Practices Involving Mirrors
Mirrors, acting as tools for focus, protection, and transformation. One common ritual involves the use of a mirror as a portal for spiritual communication. In this practice, the mirror is treated as a gateway, a connection point between the physical and spiritual planes. Practitioners may engage in meditation or trance work in front of the mirror, seeking to establish communication with spiritual entities or access deep layers of the subconscious.
Another ritual entails the use of a mirror in a consecration ceremony, where the mirror is "cleansed" of any residual energy and "charged" with a specific purpose. This process involves elements like incense, candles, or natural elements like moonlight, leveraging their specific energetic signatures to cleanse and empower the mirror.
One must, however, proceed with caution when interacting with mirrors in a ritualistic context. Given their potent properties, mirrors must be handled respectfully and carefully. Always ensure that the ritual mirror is properly stored or covered when not in use to prevent any unintended energetic interactions.
Example Ritual That Incorporates Mirrors
Ritual of Mirror Reflection
Objective: This ritual aims to promote self-reflection, growth, and self-awareness. It harnesses the unique properties of mirrors to aid participants in seeing and understanding aspects of themselves more clearly.
Optimal Circumstances: Conduct this ritual during a new moon, a time known for introspection and new beginnings. A quiet, dimly lit space with minimal disturbances is ideal.
Ingredients and Correspondences:
Mirror: Acts as the primary tool for reflection and introspection
(Optional) A bowl
White Candle or electric candle: Represents purity and clarity.
(Optional) Lavender Incense: Used for relaxation and heightening awareness.
(Optional) Salt: Represents grounding and protection.
(Optional) Incense for grounding
(Optional) Offerings for your spirits
Preparation:
Create a clean, sacred space where the ritual will take place.
Place the mirror on a flat surface.
Practice the incantation until you can recall it without breaking your train of thought: “Show me, guide me, reveal the truth inside me.”
(Optional) Place the salt and lavender in a bowl and then set the candle in the bowl, cradled within the mixture to support it.
(Optional) Place the candle between you and the mirror before lighting it.
If the bowl, salt, and lavender is omitted, just place the candle between you and the mirror. Be sure that the candle is in a glass container for fire safety.
Procedure:
Creating and Engaging the Headspace:
Ensure that your space is free from distractions by turning devices off or on silent, taking measures to get pets quiet and happy, notifying other residence that you require some quiet, putting on headphones with music, and setting comfortable lighting.
Use the flame from the candle dance. Let its clarity inspire your mind to remain focused and clear throughout.
(Optional) Affirm to yourself, “Today, I seek a clearer understanding of myself.” if you think it will aid you.
Maintain this headspace by repeatedly returning your focus to the candle's flame and the points of gnosis whenever your mind wanders.
Entering a State of Gnosis:
Light the incense and take a few deep breaths, inhaling the calming scent.
Sit or stand comfortably before the mirror, gazing deeply into your reflection.
Allow any extraneous thoughts to flow out with each exhale.
Gradually move your awareness inwards on your own psyche. While maintaining equal awareness of each component, break up your psyche into subsequent parts by whatever categorization feels most optimal for you.
Include awareness of your subtle body in your gnosis, as it also plays a role in the psyche.
Take steps to ensure that your state of gnosis is unbroken throughout the spell.
Programming the Energetic Body:
Within your gnosis, move your center of consciousness into your subtle body.
Incorporate your Wellsource into your awareness and how it feeds energy into your subtle body.
Begin to radiate Wellsource energy out of each energy point radially. Be sure that the amount of energy per second is unilateral for each point.
Energetic Constructs:
While maintaining gnosis, reach out and sense the energetic properties and projections from the mirror. It should be a rapidly oscillating field that projects roughly 10 cm -1 m away from the mirror relative to its size. If you’re using a black mirror, stone mirror, or any mirror that doesn’t have a silver backing it will have a different energetic sensation.
(Optional) Incorporating Spirits:
To integrate spirits, whisper a humble request for guidance from trusted spirits and give whatever offerings they prefer. To identify them, look for sensations of warmth, a gentle pressure, or feelings of serenity.
Ensure that you do not demand, but gently request their presence.
Understand that they will help you if they desire, but do not rely on or expect their assistance.
Ritual Action:
Gaze into the mirror, allowing your eyes to defocus slightly. As you do, softly chant or whisper, “Show me, guide me, reveal the truth inside me.”
With each repetition, delve deeper into introspection, understanding the various facets of your being.
Sink your awareness into the components of your psyche. Try not to label them, and just observe them. Trust that your subconscious will bring back what it is you need from the working.
Concluding the Ritual:
Collect the energy you released and send it into the earth.
Thank your spiritual aids, if you called them, and invite them to leave.
Extinguish the candle and clear the space, ensuring to store the mirror safely.
Cleanse the space using whatever means are more comfortable to you.
Note: Always cleanse the mirror after use to reset its energetic state. This can be done by washing it with salt water or vinegar. If you’d like to seal the mirror, draw a sigil on it and/or cover it with a black or white cloth.

Spirit Work
Mirrors, in their multifaceted roles within various esoteric traditions, exhibit a powerful capacity for spirit work. This encompasses a wide spectrum of practices ranging from entity banishment to spirit communication. The exploration of these applications, while deeply intriguing, also necessitates an attitude of respect and careful handling given the potent nature of this work.
Examples of Mirrors in Use for Spirit Work
In several indigenous cultures, mirrors are employed for spirit work, acting as conduits between the physical world and the spiritual realm. For instance, among the indigenous Huichol people of Mexico, mirrors are often integrated into shamanistic practices to facilitate communication with ancestral spirits. This specific usage is chronicled in "The Huichol: A Culture Walking Towards the Light" by Susana Valadez and "Shamanism and Spirituality in Therapeutic Practice" by Christa Mackinnon.
In Asia, particularly within the indigenous Ainu community of Japan, mirrors, known as "Iyomante," are considered sacred objects that bridge the gap between humans and "Kamuy" (divine beings). Details of this practice can be found in "The Ainu and their Folklore" by John Batchelor and "Ainu: Spirit of a Northern People" by William Fitzhugh and Chisato Dubreuil.
Using Mirrors for Banishing
Mirrors also play a role in the banishment of unwanted entities. The rationale behind this practice is that the mirror's reflective surface 'returns' the entity's energy back to itself, which can prove disorientating or repelling for the entity. It can also act as a portal to another spiritual plane through which an entity can be sent to. A particular method involves placing the mirror with the reflective side facing outwards towards the direction from which the negative energy is perceived to originate. During this process, the practitioner maintains a focused state, using projections from the subtle body to direct the unwanted energy into the mirror.
Using Mirrors for Spirit Communication
The reflective nature of mirrors has led to their usage as tools for spirit communication, serving as a medium through which messages from the spiritual realm can be received. This practice often involves mirror gazing or scrying, where the practitioner enters a meditative state and focuses on the mirror's surface, inviting communication from spirits.
One notable example is the "Psychomanteum," a mirrored chamber used for contacting spirits of the departed, popularized by Dr. Raymond Moody, author of "Reunions: Visionary Encounters With Departed Loved Ones". This technique requires a carefully controlled environment and preparation to facilitate spirit communication. It's recommended for only experienced practitioners or under the guidance of a seasoned professional. It is important to note that while mirrors can be effective tools in spirit work, some methodologies may not work for everyone due their vagueness or whether they’re writing from a personal narrative.

Note
so im not quite a beginner, I've grown up in a Pagan Wiccan household, but we've always had a really strong ward around our house so I've never had to lock windows/mirrors/reflective surfaces before. I know how to do it and read your intro into it, so I understand it, but what is the mirror realm? My parents always said that the wards would shut down the portals so I've just never found out I guess- I've also been pretty advanced at like sigils and spells that are self energized but not so much with spirits, other worlds, deities (despite trying to worship), ect so that probably explains why I didn't learn about the mirror realm
Thank you so much!
Hey! Thanks for asking. Hope you're doing well.
Yes, the mirror realm is related to spirits (though not inherently via religion or deities) so that could be why you never learned. I'd have to learn more about your wards to comment on if they actually work for your mirrors or not, but I'm sure you're fine if you grew up in a knowledgeable household, so I think that's pretty cool!
As per your question- The mirror realm is what I like to call "Hell if it was real and maximized by 10." The mirror realm is an incredibly dangerous realm that you can enter via mirrors, usually when the veil is thinned by direct sunlight on a clear mirror (and via astral projection, and other ways). The spirits inside are incredibly dangerous, it's like hordes of some of the worst spirits you can imagine. I won't comment specifically on those spirits, but I will say, they're incredibly unfriendly. Spirit realm spirits typically don't respect consent, autonomy or safety, and do seek to harm you.
Of course, not every spirit from anywhere is all bad. Some are more neutral or positive, depending on how you understand terms like "negative, neutral and positive" in your teachings. But, a vast majority of spirits from the mirror realm do have an urge to harm and/or take advantage of you, and usually want to keep you (your spiritual body) trapped in the mirror realm. It's why it's important to lock your mirrors and tell these spirits to go away - you're setting a boundary with those spirits to leave you be, and keeping yourself protected.
I hope this helps answer your question <3 Do let me know if you have more! Thanks for asking!

A comic I have been working on this for about a month. I had this idea about mirrors a few years back and even made a comic. But I changed the story and I wanted to redo it to show my improvement. I will post the original later for comparison.
