Game Idea - now a novel
Well... originally a dating sim game idea that will be a novel because I don't have any programmation skills nor the money to pay some developpers, but I like it and got lots of ideas for it so let's just share it.
If you want to make a OC and/or your MC from it, then have fun, I would love it ^-^ (list of existing ones at the end ^^)
It's a dating sim, mix between "Twisted Wonderland" and "Obey me!"
This is mostly ideas thrown like this in a messy way. But you can now read the novel version here:
Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7 Chapter 8 Chapter 9 Chapter 10 -All other chapters will only be on the other plateforms, always free to read

I also introduce all the characters on Toyhouse, UnVale or Deviantart and regularly post here on tumblr about it
And to not have to search through my tumblr, you can find every single infos about Scriptoria, on my Toyhouse as well.
everything under the cut
As a new student at Fablewood Academy, you are mysteriously invited after stumbling upon an ancient storybook. Among peers who resonate with legendary characters from fables and folklore, you stand apart—unable to resonate with any historical figure. Instead, you uncover a profound connection to the mysterious Writers.
Navigating the competitive dorm dynamics and building relationships with students and teachers, you begin to unravel the secrets of Scriptoria, the world of stories. With your unique bond to the Writers, you hold the key to saving it from an ancient force threatening to rewrite history itself.
~~~~
World
"Scriptoria" A magical world shaped by the memories and writings of the legendary Writers, who recorded the lives and deeds of its inhabitants.
~~~~
The Writers :
The authors of fairytales we knows, they are called the "writers" not because they have wrote the tales (since it's supposed to be all real stories in this world) but because they were keeper of memories, noting everything that was happening in the world, which permitted the actual characters to knows all about the stories.
The Writers and Their Origins
Connection to Their Stories and Cultures:
Jean de La Fontaine (Beastman from Beasthaven): La Fontaine, a fox beastman, had a knack for observing the social structures of Beasthaven’s vibrant and diverse communities.
Hans Christian Andersen (Mer from the Seafoam Dominion): Andersen was a merman with a melancholic streak, deeply inspired by the beauty and sorrow of the sea. His ability to capture fleeting emotions and weave them into poetic tales was unparalleled.
The Grimm Brothers (Goblins from Myrcadawn): Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were goblin-faes, an unexpected yet fitting revelation. The magic of the Writers kept their mischief in check, channeling their keen wit and curiosity into recording humanity's most primal fears and hopes. Their goblin heritage explains the darker, more visceral tone of their collected tales.
Charles Perrault (Human from Austreim): Perrault was a human writer from the cobblestone streets of Austreim. Known for his elegance and refinement, he focused on moralistic tales that resonated with high society while still appealing to common folk. His work emphasized transformation and perseverance, ideals he believed could bridge social divides.
An so many more… In short, every single race and country had one or multiple Writers.
The Omniscience of the Writers
The Writers weren’t ordinary historians—they were endowed with a unique form of magic called Storysense.
Storysense Explained: Writers could sense when someone was destined for a life-altering story—one that would leave a profound impact on their world and become a tale told for generations.
When they encountered such an individual, their magic activated instinctively, drawing them to observe and record the person’s journey.
This connection allowed them to witness events in real-time, ensuring no detail was missed.
The Rule of Non-Intervention: Writers were forbidden from interfering in the stories they recorded. Their role was to document, not shape, the fates of those they observed.
Consequences of Breaking the Rule: If a Writer intervened, their Storysense could fracture, leaving them unable to detect new stories. Worse, they might accidentally unravel the tale they were meant to preserve, altering history itself. (e.g. Helping Cinderella to escape her abusing family would prevent her from meeting her prince and she would not become the Great queen Austreim had known)
The Role of the Writers’ Magic
Memory-Keeping: The Writers’ magic extended beyond mere observation. They could project their memories into enchanted quills or scrolls, creating flawless records of events. These documents became powerful artifacts that resonated with the essence of the stories they contained.
The Grand Archive: All Writers’ works were stored in a magical repository known as the Grand Archive. The archive it a living entity, capable of organizing itself and occasionally revealing forgotten tales to those in need of their wisdom.
The Grand Archive’s real position is unknown and is hidden in its own pocket dimension. This dimension open slightly for the Resonance Ceremony.
The Writers’ Legacy
Unique Perspectives: Each Writer brought their cultural background and personal perspective to their work, enriching the world of Scriptoria with a tapestry of diverse stories.
La Fontaine’s fables emphasized cleverness and morality.
Andersen’s tales highlighted emotion and transformation.
The Grimms’ stories embraced the primal, magical forces of nature and humanity.
Perrault’s narratives bridged the elegance of court life with the struggles of common folk.
~~~~
Locations
Austreim: Inspired by European fairytales (Germany, France, Scandinavia). A realm of picturesque forests, cobblestone towns, and grand castles. Home to tales like "Cinderella" and "Little Red Riding Hood."
Beasthaven: A country inspired by La Fontaine’s animal fables. Predominantly inhabited by beastmen. Features different biomes in different part of the land, from lush forests and rolling meadows to savannah or thundra. The country is known for their lively markets in every biome.
Seafoam Dominion: An underwater kingdom of mermen and aquatic fae. Draws inspiration from Andersen's stories. Has shimmering underwater cities and shores dotted with mythical artifacts.
Ebony Sands: Inspired by African folktales such as "The Man Who Never Lied." A sun-drenched land of deserts, savannahs, river deltas and ancient temples.
Celestial Plains: Based on East Asian folktales, blending Chinese, korean, Japanese stories among others. Features rolling hills of bamboo, cherry blossoms, and mystical shrines guarded by spirits.
Myrcadawn: A borderland filled with ancient ruins, magical storms, and creatures from forgotten tales. Mostly inhabited by faes.
~~~~
"Fablewood Academy" An all-boy institution dedicated to preserving the legacy of the writers and their stories. Located at the heart of Scriptoria, blending all cultural styles. Where the Writers’ legacies are studied and the world's future is shaped.
~~~~
The Resonance Ceremony
When a student enters the school, they undergo a Resonance Ceremony, a deeply symbolic ritual that determines their connection to an Historical Character (a character from fairytales and myths).
Ceremony Description:
The Setting: The ceremony takes place in a grand, mystical chamber called the Hall of Echoes, a circular room lined with glowing murals of countless legendary figures. In the center, on the ground like a pond, is the Ethereal Mirror, which shimmers like water and reflects not the student’s image, but fragments of their potential resonance.
The Ritual:
The student steps up to the mirror, guided by a faculty member.
The mirror reacts to their essence, glowing brighter as it identifies the Historical Character whose moral compass and essence most closely align with the student’s.
The chosen figure materializes as a spectral image above the mirror, accompanied by a brief vision of their story, morals, and defining characteristics.
The student receives an Artefact Sigil, a magical mark on their hand, symbolizing their connection. The sigil also acts as a key to their dormitory.
Outcomes:
The character determines the student’s dorm assignment. Dorms represent shared principles or traits rather than region or story type, which creates unique diversity within each house.
The student begins to develop their Legacy Arte, influenced by their resonance.
~~~~
Dorm Names & Founders
Astraquartz (Inspired by Cinderella, Charles Perrault): Represents perseverance, humility, and transformation.
Scarletfang (Inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, Grimm Brothers): Represents courage and cunning.
Everswell (Inspired by The Little Mermaid, Hans Christian Andersen): Represents sacrifice and curiosity.
Mousetrail (Inspired by The Lion and the Mouse, La Fontaine): Represents cleverness and loyalty.
Obsidianspire (Inspired by Mamad in "The Man Who Never Lied", unknown Writer (African tale)): Represents honesty and wisdom.
Verdance (Inspired by "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter", Minamoto no Shitagō): Represents grace and adaptability.
~~~~
Resonance Dynamics
Living By Their Resonance: Students are expected to uphold the values and morals of their Resonance Character. Deviating too far from these principles leads to a Resonance Crisis, where the bond becomes unstable.
Resonance Crises: In a crisis, a student’s personality and abilities are warped by the unresolved conflict. They might embody the antithesisof their Historical Character, becoming a distorted, corrupted version of their story’s ideals.
Example: A student resonating with The Happy Prince may hoard wealth selfishly, spiraling into greed, causing their Legacy Arte to malfunction.
Resolution: To restore balance, the student must confront their choices and find a way to realign with their character’s core principles, often with the help of peers or the protagonist.
The Nature of Resonance
Resonance is not a rigid set of rules that dictate a person’s every thought or action. Instead, it represents a core essence—a reflection of the Resonance Character’s archetype, personality, and values. When a student resonates with a character, it means they share a similar foundation, but they are free to interpret and act on that foundation in their own unique way.
Core Principles of Resonance
Guiding Influence, Not Control: The Resonance doesn't force someone to behave exactly like their historical counterpart. Instead, it provides a general blueprint of traits, preferences, and tendencies that align with the character’s essence.
Example: Coach Garrick’s Resonance with the Big Bad Wolf doesn’t mean he must terrorize pigs—it means he shares the wolf’s gruff, bold, and predatory nature. How he channels those traits is entirely up to him. For Garrick, they manifest as a tough love coaching style.
Freedom to Choose Actions: While Resonance shapes a student's instincts and inclinations, their choices define their character. They can act in harmony with their Resonance without being confined to it.
Example: Elric, resonating with Cinderella's Stepmother, naturally enjoys luxury and attention. However, he can choose to respect others while enjoying these things, rather than mistreating them like the original stepmother did. If he strays too far—say, by shunning luxury entirely—it might destabilize his Resonance, but small acts of kindness wouldn’t harm it.
Resonance Crisis Is About Extremes: A Resonance Crisis occurs when a student goes against their core nature to an extreme degree, causing an inner conflict. This doesn’t happen because of minor deviations but because of a deep misalignment.
Example: If Elric started wearing rags and actively rejecting his love of luxury, his Resonance would destabilize. But respecting servants or treating them kindly, while still enjoying the finer things, would maintain balance.
Here are clear, narrative-driven examples to help clarify how Resonance works without feeling restrictive:
Garrick “Grizz” Wolfin (Big Bad Wolf): Garrick’s Resonance gives him traits like gruffness, strength, and an intimidating aura. He embodies the archetype of the wolf, but how he uses those traits is his choice. He could easily become a bully, but instead, he channels his gruff demeanor into being a demanding yet caring PE teacher. His choices define him, not the wolf.
Elric Briarthorne (Cinderella’s Stepmother): Elric shares the stepmother’s love for luxury, beauty, and a touch of laziness. However, he is not bound to repeat her cruelty. Elric can enjoy being pampered and commanding attention without mistreating others. If he rejects his natural affinity for elegance entirely, he risks a Resonance Crisis, but respecting a servant while maintaining his love for luxury keeps him in balance.
~~~~
Resonance Crisis: The Fractured Legacy
What Happens?
When a mage’s bond with their Resonance Character destabilizes, their Artefact Sigil fractures, and their inner conflict manifests as a dangerous, externalized force called a Fractured Legacy. The Fractured Legacy represents the mage's core identity spiraling out of control, with tangible consequences for the individual and their surroundings.
Mechanics of a Resonance Crisis
Stages of the Crisis:
Warning Phase: The Artefact Sigil dims or cracks subtly, signaling instability. The mage exhibits heightened emotional extremes or behaviors contrary to their Resonance Character.
Example: A Cinderella Resonance becoming tyrannical and dismissive, echoing the stepmother’s cruelty.
Threshold Event: A traumatic or critical moment causes the bond to fully destabilize. The mage’s Artefact Sigil shatters, triggering the Crisis.
Transformation:
The mage transforms into an Echoed Antithesis of their Resonance Character—a distorted, exaggerated version of their worst traits.
Example: A Little Red Riding Hood Resonance becomes a wolf-like beast, embodying predation and fear instead of courage.
The environment around them twists to reflect their turmoil—spreading corruption, illusions, or chaotic phenomena tied to the Resonance.
Manifestation:
The Fractured Legacy takes a physical or semi-physical form—either merging with the student or manifesting as external entities they must face.
Example: The transformed mage might summon spectral versions of antagonists, or their minions, from their Resonance Character’s tale, or their surroundings could morph into a warped, nightmarish version of their story.
Consequences
Prolonged Crisis states can cause lasting damage to the mage—mental, physical, or magical.
If unresolved, the bond with their Resonance Character could sever entirely, leaving them vulnerable to permanent loss of their Arte and magical abilities.
Resolving a Resonance Crisis
Core Resolution:
The mage must confront the internal conflict driving their instability.
Example: A Happy Prince Resonance consumed by greed might need to realize that hoarding wealth doesn’t bring joy or fulfill their true essence.
This confrontation often requires the help of others, especially the protagonist, who serves as a mediator or guide.
Reformation:
The Artefact Sigil repairs itself, often evolving into a stronger form, symbolizing the student’s personal growth.
The Legacy Arte might gain new abilities tied to the lessons learned during the Crisis.
Designing the Fractured Legacy
Visuals:
The Crisis should have a haunting yet poetic visual style that reflects the student’s Resonance Character.
Example: A Cinderella Resonance would look more like a deformed version of the stepmother or the stepsisters, surrounded by jagged shards of broken glass and spectral pumpkin monsters.
Themes:
Each Crisis explores the darker side of the Resonance Character’s traits.
Example: A Little Mermaid Resonance, consumed by jealousy, might suffocate others in waves of magical water, symbolizing their suppressed longing for acceptance.
Combat Dynamics in Resonance Crises
Fractured Legacy Boss Fights:
The mage undergoing the Crisis transforms into a formidable, story-inspired boss.
Example: A Big Bad Wolf Resonance could manifest as a towering wolf-like monster with powerful wind attacks, symbolic of their huffing and puffing.
Emotional Mechanics:
Incorporate dialogue or cutscenes mid-fight to remind players this isn’t just a battle—it’s an attempt to reach someone in pain.
Example: As the protagonist deals damage, the Fractured Legacy might shout distorted lines from their tale or reveal their inner turmoil through flashes of memory.
Combat Objective:
The goal isn’t necessarily to defeat the character in a traditional sense but to weaken their Fractured Legacy enough to restore clarity.
Player Options in Combat
Artefact Sigil Powers:
The characters used can use their own Legacy Arte abilities, which align with their Resonance Characters, to counteract the Fractured Legacy’s powers.
Example: A character resonating with the Little Mermaid might summon tidal waves to neutralize a fire-based Fractured Legacy attack.
Special Techniques:
Introduce a Breakthrough Strike mechanic where players can charge a special attack tied to the Resonance Character of the opponent.
Example: Against a Red Riding Hood Resonance, a teammate resonating with the Woodsman could unleash an axe-cleaving move that counters the wolf-like powers.
Group Synergy:
Peers with similar values or with a character from the same story to the Resonance Character in Crisis might deal bonus damage or have abilities to calm the Crisis state.
Emotional Impact of Combat
Hitting Hard With Purpose:
The protagonist struggles with the morality of fighting a friend or peer. Dialogue options or animations could reflect hesitation and determination.
Example: “I don’t want to hurt you, but I can’t let you destroy yourself!”
Each successful attack might shatter parts of the Fractured Legacy’s appearance, revealing glimpses of the real student underneath.
Dynamic Reactions:
As the player weakens the Fractured Legacy, they could start to show signs of clarity—stammering, pleading, or showing flashes of regret mid-battle.
Example: A Cinderella Resonance Crisis might sob, “Why am I acting like this? This isn’t me!” as their Fractured Legacy starts to crumble.
~~~~
Legacy Arte
Each Legacy Arte is tied to the unique essence of the resonated Historical Character. These are not static powers—they grow and evolve as the student’s connection deepens. It can be an offensive or defensive ability, a practical one for everyday or even a constant unseen ability (enhancing strenght, magic powers or anything else)
For example:
A student resonating with Princess Kaguya might have an Arte called Moonlit Grace, allowing them to summon moonlight to shield themselves and others. As they grow, the Arte might evolve into Celestial Radiance, granting healing and offense.
~~~~
Artefact Sigil
The Artefact Sigil serves as both a resonance stabilizer and a channel for magic, directly tied to the student's connection with their Resonance Character. It appears on the student's hand during the Resonance Ceremony.
Key Features of the Artefact Sigil
Appearance:
A glowing, dynamic symbol or glyph that reflects the essence of the Resonance Character. Its design evolves as the bond deepens, becoming more intricate and vibrant.
Example:
Astraquartz: A delicate glass slipper.
Scarletfang: A bold wolf’s paw print, with thorny vines wrapping around it.
Everswell: A flowing wave, centered with a small pearl-like dot.
Mousetrail: A small mouse.
Obsidianspire: A tall spire with rays of light radiating from its top.
Verdance: A crescent moon embraced by bamboo leaves.
Functionality:
Magic Channeling: The Sigil channels the student’s magic, focusing and amplifying their spells. It glows or pulses during use, with colors and intensity varying based on the magic type.
Legacy Arte Activation: The Artefact Sigil is the key to unlocking and evolving Legacy Arte abilities. As the student grows, the Sigil adapts to better support these powers.
Resonance Stabilization: The Sigil detects and moderates Resonance Crises. If a student strays too far from their Resonance Character’s core ideals, the Sigil dims or cracks slightly, serving as a warning. It also emits calming energy to help realign the connection.
Personal Connection: The Sigil is an inseparable part of the student, growing and changing with them. This deep connection makes magic feel more instinctive and intimate, as it’s literally a part of their body.
~~~~~~~~
Lore Tie-In
Origins: The Artefact Sigil was created by the Writers, using fragments of their own memories as the foundation. This ensures that every Sigil is a direct link to the archives of Scriptoria.
The Resonance Bond: The Sigil embodies the merging of the student’s essence with their Resonance Character. Its visible state reflects the health of this bond, making it both a tool and a representation of their inner journey.
Sims 3, I might try it again. I am looking for people's opinions about it in this day and age, especially about its gameplay.
Following the recent AMA with Matt Brown, a Sims 2+ lead developper, I became interested in trying out TS3 again. I'd love to hear people's opinions about it, in all aspects, not just about my points below.
I gave it a go some years after it came out, and before TS4 happened. I only tried the base game as vanilla, and was soon bored with it. Now I've delved a bit into its mods, and I think it can potentially scratch that ich I have, wanting a Sims game that I can mod the hell out of, with stronger capabilities than TS2, better enviourment effects, and a fun gameplay. Since I've decided to ditch any expectations for InZoi, due to it being a generic theiving peice of AI shit with no soul. Still crossing my fingers for Open TS2 to happen.
Issues:
1. I remember loving the new colour wheel, but missing the preset colour options. It became tedious very quickly.
2. I remember the open world was feeling so empty. Can anyone tell me what it's like now, with all those fix mods?
3. One more important thing: Has anyone ever managed to default replace those horrible pudding faces?
I'd like to hear about any other matters I haven't mentioned as well.
Why TS3 won't replace TS2 for me (there are 2 more videos like that!):
I don't know if you guys saw the REDKIT witcher restoration of one of the potential endings of the witcher 3 that was ultimately cut out. During this ending Yennefer was supposed to betray the lodge. And now I really think about all of it. Would Yennefer really do that ? Betraying Philippa is one thing, but Margarita ? We know Yennefer is ready to make every sacrifice for Ciri. However, I feel like this is going to far, even for her.
If we can agree that it is an interesting way of exploring Yennefer's morality, I guess the developpers thought it would be a little out of character.
I really enjoyed Philippa's lines tho (of course).
ALRIGHT!I JUST WATCHED THE MIRACULOUS MOVIE AND I HAVE THOUGHTS! There will be spoilers ahead, so tread carefully
A list, in no particular order, just how they pop up in my head:
The animation was STUNNING! Just, props to the animators, I enjoyed the movie visually SO MUCH! From the use of colours and lighting, to the way they used all of that to upgrade the characters: it was absolute perfection. (though some of those close up shots of Hawkmoth were A Lot. But that was probably the point)
The absolute chaotic energy that both Tikki and Plagg (but mostly Tikki, cuz unfortunately. there wasn't a whole lot of Plagg, which I understand due to time, even if it is sad) is FANTASTIC! I adore Chaotic Tikki so much. She has my whole heart! That little scene of Tikki pushing Marinette's hand to Adrien's? Lovely. Tikki explaining absolutely nothing to Marinette when they first meet? Perfection. Just. Give me more Chaotic Tikki, please!
The soundtrack? WONDERFUL! I kinda knew it was a musical, I think, but I completely forgot, so when Marinette sang those first few notes, I had to catch up a lil, but DAMN I was excited! (sad we didn't get Ce Mur Qui Nous Separe (I don't know the english name oops), but it was still fun!)
On that note: Adrian having the most Disney Princess I Want song in the movie is just perfect. No other words needed. Best choice they could have made there.
ALSO on that note: Marinette's singing voice? BEAUTIFUL! It fits so well! I just couldn't help but enjoy her songs, if only for that.
BUT I didn't have to, because the music itself, without the lyrics was just so well done!
Slightly less good: The hawkmoth song was missing some flavor, in my opinion. It started out, and I was EXCITED cuz it started so HARD and then it didn'treally deliver, I think. It kind of kept in the same range and didn't really go up, ya know?
I really REALLY liked Marinette and Chloe's relationship. The way Marinette fired shots back at Chloe, and they actually seemed to be becoming more frennemies? Amazing. I wish we would've gotten more of that in the tv show, considering earlier seasons Chloe and her character developpement, but I really enjoyed it here, in the movie
I'm happy we got to see Gabriel and Adrian actually confronting each other. Both Adrian standing up to his dad (although the timing was a little off, more on that later), AND Gabriel finding out his son is Chat Noir and the resulting Crisis. At least there was some emotional pay off there! (looking at you, season 5 finale)
NOW on the timing thing: There just wasn't enough time. I understand that they wanted to do the superhero origin story for people who aren't familiar with the show but do go to see the movie, but I feel like they just didn't have the necessary time to create the emotional tension needed for the end scene to actually hit as hard as it could have. We got to see a hint of Adrian and Gabriel's relationship, and what was shown was great! But if we had gotten a little more of that perspective and tension, it would've felt better to watch Adrian stand up to Gabe and his parenting skills. And consequently, enjoyed more of the end scene with them figuring out each others identities. Genuinely, I was happy we got at least some pay off there, but it felt too easy. (which again, makes sense due to the limited time, but I feel like they should have made choice: either the Big End Fight with Hawkmoth, OR the Origin Story. And since they did kind of set up a possible sequel, I feel like the choice could have been made)
With the feeling of too easy: I had the same feeling of Marinette and her finding confidence in herself and Ladybug AT THE END! The sudden change during the montage, I liked and felt like it made sens, since we then, during the big battle, get Marinette's insecurities over only being confident when she's Ladybug and all that. That is wonderful and so in line with the core of who Marinette is as character, no matter what version of her we get, that I love it very much. I would have enjoyed a liiiiitle more time with the Angst, but it's allright!
MOSTLY CUZ: that scene where she's dragging Cat Noir's unconcious body onto the debris of the Eiffel Tower, and she goes 'Don't. Touch. Him.' through tears and with a broken voice? AMAZING! When I tell you I Went FERAL! My children! absolutely STUNNING
The actual fight of the end battle? Marinette surrounded by flame and a Paris that is falling apart? Ladybug in Hell, essentially? GORGEOUS! Cat Noir running up the Eiffel Tower to fight Hawkmoth? Stunning! The Eiffel Tower slowly collapsing, as Ladybug watches and cannot Do Anything to stop it? HEARTWRENCHING!
Marinette revealing herself to Adrian at the ball? AMAZING SCENE! (although i laughed and had to utter 'Real Subtle, Marinette' when I saw the ladybug wings on the back of the dress, which was, againg, stunning). The way the scene was framed like the rejection scene? WONDERFUL!
The glitter on Chat Noir's mask? I loved it! Such a fun little detail we don't get in the show!
Did not like the Plagg farting scene. Just. No thanks. It's cheap comedy and that runtime could have been spent better, with a better characterisation of PLagg and his relationship with Adrian. But whatever, it's fine.
THE LADYNOIR CONTENT AND BICKERING! JUST FANTASTIC! ladynoir stans got FED this movie, and I am HERE FOR IT!
So yeah, that was an incomplete list of my thoughts on the movie! Overall I really enjoyed it! I really liked this version of the characters and their relationships. They feel a lot more genuine and real in comparison to the tv show, in some ways. I had so much fun watching it, and will probably go a second time, to see how it'll feel like on a rewatch. And just to enjoy the vibes. I do hope we get a sequel, because I am Curious. And would love more Natalie content.
[Three idiots pining]
ItaFushiKugi | Jujutsu Kaisen 06-12-2022
What if Yuji starts to developpes a crush on both Nobara and Megumi? And at first, he's pretty damn confused about it because
1) He's never had a crush on any guys before, so it was a surprise when he realised that about Megumi.
2) He's never had crushes on more than one person at a time, sure at first he's unsure if what he feels for both of them is really that.
But it is, and he's not sure what to do with this.
He would like to date one of them (not really thinking that both is an option). But he's not even sure if Megumi likes guys too and he's not sure if it would be weird to date Nobara while still loving Megumi too. Plus he's not sure he's really her type.
But he still sort of try the water with them. He never really dated before and never flirted either, so he's not sure what to do.
But then instead he notices how megumi and Nobara are both strangely getting closer than before.
They are often with each other, sitting close and talking quietly about things; showing each other things on their phone while giggling (at least, Nobara does, Megumi just smiles); Always brushing away Yuji's questions about what they were talking about.
and often when Yuji finds them and calls out to them, they suddenly pull away from whatever they were doing or talking about and putting distance between them.
This led him to wonder... are they dating?
The thought actually makes him sad. Not one, put his two crushes are seeing someone else (or rather, each other). So he decides that maybe he should leave them space sometimes. When he sees them so close to each other, already seemingly occupied, he just goes back to do something else... all by himself.
Meanwhile.
Nobara and Megumi actually both also have a crush on Yuji and instead of fighting over him decided to appreciate him together.
After all, Megumi is convinced that Yuji is to be straight (seeing how his presentation somehow always includes Jennifer Lawrence). And Nobara knows she doesn't fit Yuji type (Tall with a big butt) so she assumes he wouldn't like her the same way she does.
So they fraternise and bond (and maybe grow to love each other a little bit through it) over their love for Yuji.
They talk about what the other missed about Yuji, about silly, cute and/or nice things he did, sharing little things they learned about their crush.
They both exchange pictures of Yuji, sometimes even finding online things that remind them of him or outfits that would suit him very well.
They often end up pretty surprised when Yuji suddenly appears and they dodge saying what they were talking about and take some more appropriate distance between each other. After all, they don't really want to know what would happen is Yuji were to learn about their crush and how much they share with each other about him (that would look creepy and a bit stalker-ish).
But then they start noticing how Yuji seems to get a little more distant. He doesn't hang out with them as much as before and they are both pretty confused. Have they done something to make Yuji not want to hang out with them? As something happened that they don't know about?
And they both really hate that.
And the more they try asking Yuji about it, the more he seems to try and slip away.
Which is even more frustrating and annoying (and a little hurtful).
So one night they drag Yuji to Megumi's room and corner him there, not allowing him to go out. Plus there should be no sudden mission or training with Gojo-Sensei planned when it's already 10 pm.
It's an interrogation and Yuji barely budges.
It actually takes Megumi asking him if they hate them now somehow, sounding clearly sad about it.
And Yuji quickly replies that obviously no he doesn't hate them!! And he very quietly says "I actually love both of you.... but I didn't want to cause problem since you two are already dating".
And this leaves Megumi and Nobara confused as fuck because!? Since when?! Are they dating?! Somehow?!
"But it's okay guys, don't worry about it I won't do anything I just need time to deal with my own feeli--" Yuji starts before being stopped by Nobara grabbing his face, and pulling him closer.
"Who the fuck said we are dating?!"
and now it Yuji's turn to look confused.
"But you two are always with each other lately, secretly talking about things and never telling me, I thought you were dating and I was intruding".
The sound of someone's face-palming can be heard from next to Nobara, Megumi mumbling "This could all have been avoided".
"You should have asked us" Nobara said, hand still squshing Yuji cheeks, rendering whatever he tried to mumble impossible to understand.
"I love you" she ends up saying as Yuji gently grabbed her wrists to pull her hands away, before he froze, looking back up at her.
"And Megumi also loves you" she continued, turning back towards Megumi, actions which was followed by Yuji. Megumi seemed put on the spot, looking away a little. "Yes, I also love you" he ended up replying to the clear question on Yuji's face.
"So you two aren't in love and dating?" Yuji asks.
To that, Megumi and Nobara look at each other, a silence taking place. They have never talked about this before, but they somehow also both know there's IS something there between them.
"That... complicated" Megumi decides to reply
And it takes a little more talking about it, assuring Yuji that yes he doesn't need to choose between them, they can all be happy the three of them together. Who would stop them anyway? They will have to fight either Nobara or Megumi to stop them from dating Yuji.
And so they start dating like this. It takes a little while to properly settles and adjust to being three people dating, but they find how to work it out and are very happy about it all.
Communication is key and Yuji is actually happy to see Nobara and Megumi's relationship also evolving slowly. Like this, they can all love each other and be there for each other.
Also, somehow, all I can do is be amused at the idea of Gojo sitting down with Nobara and Yuji for a "you better treat Megumi the right way" kinda talk but it's a bit weird coming from their teacher. Plus, he also already seems to know they are already treating him very well
Liveblogging TMAGP 23 here we are
My phone broke so I'm doing this on computer so I'm sorry in advance for the typos
SPOILERS FOR TMAGP 23
Oh, yes Lena, try to dissuade our unhinged obsessed researcher to drop a mystery. That worked great didn't it.
Finding a piece ? What piece ? What do you need to be complete ? Is it a connection to an Entity ? To me, this kinda screams Lonely, given that right now, the guy is 'missing a piece'. It'll probably have to do with something Corruption-like later.
Also, the pseudonym of this person ? Alnewman ? Finding this piece will change them, and that's what they want. I'd say this is again something to somewhat do with alchemy, because creating a perfect human was a focus of some alchemist through the ages (homonculus and all that).
A... coral piece ? Oh this is going down a route I'm not sure I like. Transformation and doppleganger ? Not reassuring at all.
Scalpels ? Bandages ? She ? Are they- Are they going to cut parts of themself and feed it to the coral in order to transform it to look like the woman of their dreams ?
Oh they put it inside didn't they ? Inside their thigh. Wait didn't Athena in greek mythology birth like that, from Zeus' thigh ? There's a methaphor here I can smell it.
Oh, OP is a girl. My bad. Have a beautiful toxic yuri with your coral piece queen.
What bothers me the msot is that we have had quite a few cases of doppleganger since the beggining of this season. This is a very reoccuring theme.
Jmart didn't meet ? :(
But they did die, twenty years ago. Which means that others could have taken their place, hm ? Hm. We still have hope.
BASIRA ??? HELEN ????? Please don't tell me about Michael.
Aww Alice tries to be nice to Gwen :D Dyhard !
"I know how many eyes a normal human haves" AND THERE WE HAVE IT !!!!! What's the probability Jonny and Alex casted a woman to play Error just to lead us in the wrong direction and that it's Jon ? It's unlikely, there are more chances Error was an Institute experiment, but I can hope.
Oh, Alice, we're really in it now. They're after us.
Final Comments :
Really interested to see Alice's developpement as she drops the "ignore it and it'll be fine" act.
And Celia is very clearly targetting Magnus characters. She mentionned Basira but not Daisy, which make sense because she died before they could meet, and she already knows Georgie, and probably Melanie as well. I'm not surprised she wouldn't try to look for other members of the cult, because they aren't very knowedgeable of the supernatural apart from what they'd seen during the apocalypse.
Error is clearly an Eye thing, maybe related to Archives, maybe not. Probably an Archivist or an experiment.
And Lena either knows about the response department and what it does, and is trying to stop Sam indirectly before he gets hurt, or she doesn't, which is genuinely more terrifying.
Regarding the case itself, I think it might be worth it to check homonculus stuff and alchemy related things.
Cyx and Procyon are growing up so fast.
I am proud and happy about that developpement. But... For some reason I wish they stayed little a little while longer.
I miss when they could fit in the palm of my hand.
I wonder why.
I know I could simply make myself bigger. But I know it wouldn't feel the same.
Hi ballerinaaa! How hard is grand pas classique? it is quite the talk how challenging the variation is.
This variation is tough, easily one of the hardest in the classical repertoire. It's a stamina challenge, not so much in terms of crazy bravada, but in terms of the sheer # of releve's. Your calf muscles are screaming even before the famous diagonal of ballonees. The choreography is also quite exposing for the dancer, with body angles that are hard to keep turned out, and intricate transitions. Stylistically, the variation needs to be confident and crisp, authoritative but charming- not the easiest thing to convey when the choreography is a bit terrifying. Especially with students, you'll often see them walk on with one of two emotions: fear or overly aggressive 'I'm gonna nail this' gusto- both miss the mark for me.
Let's start with the first section, obviously the easiest. I like to watch the depth of the plies out of the pas de chat and into the different releves. The strongest dancers, and the one's with the technique to really shine in this variation, will have their heels firmly, safely pressed into the floor any time they get a chance.
I haven't performed this variation but remember having a master class on this variation with Jurgita Dronina. She stressed the importance of musicality and footwork in the first diagonal. Your arms are trying to sustain your legs, float the attitude and en dedans turns, and really sing the melody. To keep you balanced, she told us to think about our legs and lower body acting as the bass, the accompaniment. Yes, you need to float the balances and coordinate your body but not excessively. Each plie should be measured right on the notes, this becomes easier if your feet are stepping precisely in the rhythm of the piece.
Moving on, the jete's going up the diagonal should have actual height- this is still a jump even though it's the preparation for a developpe. It also should create a feeling of spontaneity, the releve out of the jump should be lightly unexpected. Afterward, one of the most difficult sections is the consecutive turning releve's in attitude into a big battement to the side. It's a fatiguing moment, but the leg should remain at the same height, not a bobbling up and down attitude. Watch also how the leg transitions from attitude, to coupe, to a la seconde.
Now on to the ballonne's that made this variation famous. It's supposed to be done on the croisé line, with the leg crossed to the audience. You may see it done on the effacé line to favor a stronger supporting leg or to make it a bit easier to keep turnout. It's an exhausting step, but also a great way to see how well someone has been trained and how strong their turnout is. When they do the ballonne to the side, they should plie with the leg in a la seconde before going into the turn. What often happens is that dancers will 'cut' the ballonne short and plie with their leg in either sur le cou de pied, or retire passe, before pushing up to turn. Most professional dancers aren't cheating at 45 degrees, but when the legs 90+ for the second set....things can get wacky. Watch for that plie, and the turnout of the supporting leg, as well as the stability of the spine. Here's two examples to consider, specifically comparing the diagonals:
youtube
youtube
And finally, consecutive tour pique is not terribly difficult on its own but it's somehow so much harder to do (and to finish) at the end of all this, especially for those who are trying to make it really exciting by nearly jumping them and throwing in a double to finish.
Lowkey we need to discuss Marvel making Aunt May younger with each new adaptations, cuz that's becoming kind of a problem.
"This new Aunt May is young and healthy because it's modern!" is missing the whole ass point of the earlier comics.
Aunt May being old and frail was made so that she couldn't live on her own and so Peter had to responsible. He needed her, but she also needed him . This is really important. The idea is Peter had to grow up faster and help keep the houseold together. If May can take care of herself on her own, we're missing this important chunk of developpment for Peter.
I got someone on X who think he is cooking so, if you'll allow me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The video maker mentionned several time Alear doesn't grow, chapter 10 is an instance of Alear failing at being brave as they literaly lost the emblem rings who made them feel braver and is being vulnerable in front of the enemy. They are having an emotional break down and the look in their eyes show the terror they felt upon seeing Sombron turn Marth into a Dark Emblem.
Put if you wanna have several more instances : chapter 1, Alear orders to run away from the Corrupted and are forced to interevene to save Framme and Clanne which they struggles to do as they need Marth's help. Same chapter, when Alear meets Lumera they are frozen in place as more Corrupted approaches and upon seeing a great big white dragon, they are frozen and it's to the point they nearly got blasted by Lumera's lazer. In chapter 2 they express worries over fighting Sombron, talk about how the Corrupted gave them a chill done the spine. When they see Lumera's creation, they mistake them for the Corrupted and scream indicating fear and when Lumera tell them they must be brave upon Alear's request to have "less unsettling ennemies to face" Alear answer by a weak, I understand with the awkward animation. Chapter 3, in th vault, they are paralyzed when Veyle attacks them and got almost killed by it had Lumera not intervened. When Alfred ask for their help, Alear is very reluctant and hesistant before accepting. Chapter 4, when seeing the Corrupted, Alear's initial reaction showed their fear. Still in chapter 4, a Corrupted attacks them by surprise as they are witnessing the scenery and got almost struck by it as they were frozen in place, had Veyle not intervened. In chapter 15, whe Timerra tease them about the Northern Fortress, Alear is visibly scared. Should I quote more ?
And a blatant evidence of character developpement being Alear reacting differently to Lumera's death in chapter 25 compared to chapter 3. You know ? Chapter 25 ? the one that is supposed to parallel with chapter 2
Tumblr media
Oh look, it shows you can show something using telling and words !
Contrivance in Engage is limited to the set up for the time loop in chapter 24.
The dream is nonsensical ? are you kidding ? Past Alear in chapter 24 that happens in the past meets the Royals since they fight with current Alear. Past Alear has only two special battle dialogue : with Veyle and their current selfves. With the Royal or any other units, they react like that
Tumblr media
Past Alear is a broken individual who is lonely and they want to have the Royals, people who have proven to be always there to support Alear through their reaction in chapter 20 and chapter 22, by their side. Past Alear also admits to envy their future self for being who they are
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Past Alear is jealous of their current self, to them, our Alear is what they want to be deeply in their heart, so in that battle Alear view themselves as their future self whom they meet because of time loop. That's why they are dressed in white, with their hair color and eyes being different and the Royals being all here. Another evidence is Sombron's cue
Tumblr media
"It's your fate to die here /omae wa koko de horobiru sadame"
It's the exact same line that Past Alear says in chapter 22
Tumblr media
"As expected... it is my fate as a Fell dragon to perish here/Yahari ja ryu wa, horobiru sadame"
If you managed to miss that chapter 24 is a time loop supposed to explain how Lumera and Alear met and therefore the dream of the prologue, that's on you. Linkand06 and Aster/ZefirArt on Twitter also made post about this on their main.
... do you still not get why Alear is fighting alone ? It is because when they fought Sombron, even if in that dream they had the Royals with them, as they expressed in chapter 24, they still did it alone. During 1 000 years, Alear had to fight all alone. They had no one. @fayesdiary even made a most where they compared Alear's stats to that of their past self and explained how Past Alear had to become stronger all alone. With no one. So yeah, it does show it pretty well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You call that "I am gonna help my enemies haha funny ?"
Tumblr media
I am not arguing sematics. Zephia never said once what were the actual power of that dragon crystal, we only discovered it in chapter 24 since the characters themselves did it. You can argue we could have guessed it because of the hourglass shape, but she never "dropped the nuke" and it's not arguing semantics. There is a diffference between Zephia explicetley telling Alear and Veyle and the audience about the time crystal and the current situation of the game, being that we discovered the power of the crystal only in chapter 24. And also, when making an analysis of a media, you ARE supposed to argue semantics, that's the basic of lierary analysis. And if you are seriously trying to adequate the Agarthans not using their light javelin on Rhea when they could have because of countless possiblity to Zephia never using something that is hinted that she made to see her parents in the past again... what are you even trying to say ? Bare that reason Zephia had 0 reason to go back in time. 0. She didn't even knew Alear was still alive in chapter 23, that's precisely where she learn that they are alive. And again, time travel and time rewind is different. Using it as she dies would only have Zephia, still dying warn her double of the past Alear is alive for the little time she had left. She resent Sombron for leaving her in the dust and if she can't have her child, she doesn't care about living anymore.
But you would knew that if your bothered reading the game
Zephia's magic is never explained as such. She said and I quote the game that Sombron gave her the power to make adjustements.
Tumblr media
She said that she is using her magic as a Mage dragon to control Veyle's dragonic impulse, as tasked by Sombron, she never said "yeah it's a spell that can only do that". Zephia can mind control people as shown by her control over Hortensia. The magic she is using with Veyle is combined with Sombron's power, as she explained in the literal screenshot since Sombron has the power to corrupte people and I mean it in every possible way. In the Xenologue, he uses this power on Rafal to manipulate him. Those two powers combine is what Zephia is using on Veyle and in fact, it's even why Sombron gave her a helmet to make it stronger, that the helmet gets more power for Upgraded Sombron and that in the Bad Ending, Sombron made another one to manipulate Veyle again.
Alright once again : Zephia's death is not to redeem her. Sadly I can't find the @teaveetamer 's post that explained perfectly why, so Ill just explain it : for a villain to be redeemed, they need to do once good action out of a good will. Take Marni, take Rafal as an example for God sake. Zephia helped Alear and Veyle only to piss off Sombron and even lied to them until the end! How is it redeemable ? And her death being said is no evidence when the reason why the death is sad is because the scene is from Zephia's perspective !!! She realized only now that she messed up, she realized only now that she could have had her family if she was less blind. What makes it even more laughable is that even she and Griss says it word for word to cry it out loud !
Tumblr media
The difference between a sympathetic or redeemable villain is all about the portrayal. See Goro Akechi, See Rafal. They are both portrayed as the victim in all of this and their crimes is an attempt from them to recover their lost agency. See Hyacinth, who in all supports and dialogue about him is remembered foundly by his daughter. Saying the game is trying to redeem Zephia is like saying the game is trying to redeem Sombron ! also
Tumblr media
see how their main victim is basically saying it's too late for her to be forgiven ? Another fun fact, but Veyle's support with Zelestia and Gregory shows she is still traumatized by what Zephia did to her. And Mauvier also have a support with those two : saying that Zelestia and Gregory felt 0 pity hearing Mauvier talk about the sad backstory of Griss and Zephia and instead felt horror upon learning what they did is an understatement.
And don't get me started on how in the Nintendo Life interview the devs said this
"Alear will not abandon someone who is capable of chaning their ways"
Is Zephia able to change her ways ? No. She helped them just to get her revenge on Sombron for letting her.
I can't believe you really said the game never established Sombron as arrogant !!!! Do you even read mate ?! Anyway he already got what he wanted. The power of the rings. And Sombron is someone who doesn't keep things in which he sees no value
Tumblr media
Once he absorbed it to become a Great Fell dragon, he got what he wanted : the power to open the portal. He threw them away because they were useless to him. And also BECAUSE HE MURDERED ALEAR WHO IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SUMMON EMBLEMS ! And at the moment Veyle switched back to being mind controlled, so really, our allies where in quiet a danger. Also
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sombron said, and I quote
Tumblr media
meaning he presentely is in the process of sealing it. Which means it's not done yet, it just created a disturbance, but he didn't closed it yet. That's why paying attention to semantics is important kids : so that it doesn't gives people the impression you don't know how to read.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
says Alear as Sombron is still in the process of closing the portal for good, which he didn't at the end.
Tumblr media
What a coincidence ! I just linked you to a post with screenshot of Lumera explaining literaly why she didn't knew, but I guess you and everyone forgot that Lumera only learned at the begining of the chapter that Sombron awake since there was peace of the 1 000 years where Alear took a nap ?
The Veyle is able to make better corrupted plot point exist in chapter 17. Sombron can't because he is weaker due to having being imprisonned for 1 000 year having weaken him. Ivy straight up said he was so weak he couldn't even move, and that's why he needed Veyle to do the dirty work for him in the first place !
The JP indicates that Veyle and Other Veyle speaks differently. Regular Veyle : speaks like a child and use hiragana. Other Veyle : speaks like an arrogant adult and use kanji. JP has different conjuctions and expression and the writers used it to make Veyle look different : compare the two speaking in JP
youtube
youtube
Hence why Alear says that. Also, regular Veyle has purple eyes, not red. SoOOOOOO. But that said, how a character speaks show their personality. This is why jpn Etie and Eng Etie are different characters : in jpn, Etie speaks like Maribelle, in Eng, she speaks like Sully. Seeing this, Alear's reaction and commentary makes sens because the two Veyle don't speaks in the same way. See Goro Akechia and see Rafal. Speaking differently = different behaviour. If someone you knew were to act completely differently out of a sudden, wouldn't you act like Alear reacted ?
Tumblr media
idk I mean Pandreo straigt up state in chapter 25, in his post battle dialogue he never meet Lumera and that the first time he meet her was chapter 25. Dragons are revered in their dragonic forms, as shown through the statues of Lythos Castle, the Brodian Bridge, Gradlon's temple and Destinea cathedral. Also
Tumblr media Tumblr media
chapter 5, Zephia wonders when Lumera had the time to have a child. chapter 7, Hortensia screams her surprise that there are 2 Divine dragons. Sombron and Veyle are the last Fell dragon in this world, yet we know Veyle was being worshipped as well solely cause she is a Fell dragon and Mauvier and Zelestia's support tells us that Zephia would have been powerful enough to be revered as a Fell dragon would Sombron not being here. Lumera put them in the Somniel and only let some people meet Alear to protect them since she is scared the followers of Sombron would want to do something to Alear. I mean, we all see how Sombron reacts when he learn Alear is still alive ? right ?
Also
Tumblr media
Veyle : "Who are you ?"
Alear : "I am..."
Lumera :" Alear is the heir of the Divine dragon"
Veyle : "Strange... Did Queen Lumera had a child ? I never heard of that"
Lumera :" Only some Royal families and believers are aware... He was asleep for 1 000 years... it was partly to protect him from people such as you... Was Alear's existence unexpected ?"
don't you love it when the manga, for once, follow the same dialogue or same plot point as the game ? I do. I sure do.
Alcryst though that they were bandits because they crossed no one but bandits. It's been established he never meet Alear and that Alfred barely recognized him. As the @teaveetamer explained in the reblogg where she made some additions, Alcryst is 17. Diamant is 25. Diamant said the first time he meet Alear was when he was visiting Lythos as a kid. Alcryst was either a toddler either not born at that time ! And unlike Céline and Alfred who frequently visisted, Diamant came at best one or twice when he was a child ! How do you want Alcryst to know them ? Also, see the manga ? This scene is even funnier cause Alcryst mistakes Alear for a pervert and takes even more time to realize Alear is the Divine dragon, even though he was given a portrait. But hum...
Tumblr media
Also, you know that the camera angle clearly indicates that they were at miles away when Alear and Alfred approached.
and please don't tell me you are trying to go "yes but Alear and Alfred are wearing pretty clothes". They were miles away when Alcryst shoot, as indicated by the camera angle of the scene and even then Alcryst is supposed to be in the wrong anyway, he is supposed to be the one making a mistake based on the fact he never met Alear and the fact he didn't recognized Alfred right away because he shoot them when they were miles away, because Alcryst let his protective side get the best of him which lead him to do irrational things. That's why he is introduced that way, this scene takes into account his protective side which is by far his most important character trait. When a character commits a mistake, there is absolutely 0 reason to wonder if they were right to make this mistake since it defeats the very point.
And also
待てど暮らせど、来るのは殆どが化け物。
たまに人間が来ても賊ばかりで。
自衛のため討伐をし続けていたら、あなた方にも威嚇を行ってしまいました。
We waited for you for so long but most of the time, only monsters came. Sometimes we crossed path with humans, but all turned out to be thieves. We had to defend ourselves, so we kept on defeating them but we ended up threatning you as well.
Just though I'd mention it but in the jpn version this aspect is much more obvious.
And anyway, considering the author's remark on Queen Eve it seems more like trying to nitpick every little conflict the story has as if it was a irl scenario where you need to avoid any little mistakes. Well, it's not. We aren't in real life, we are in a story and conflicts are required.
I never handwaved anything saying it's amnesia. Apparently it's not just Engage that gives you reading problem. I said that Alear being ignorant is due to being a Fell dragon. We don't know how much they knew before their amnesia but the way Veyle, Rafal and Nel shows they are ignorant about most thing of the human society explains why Alear, as someone who in the past was isolated and fought for Sombron being the only thing he knew about human and whom in the JPN version of Engage speaks like a little kid using hiragana and only hiragana, they knew no better then a child.
The dream does parralele since I just gave you literal screeshot and proof that it does. Also Lumera, when joining Past Alear ask them "Why are you here all alone ?" if this doesn't meant that Alear was all alone fighting Sombron before Lumera joined them, I don't know what it does. Do you not understand subtext or ?
Tumblr media
Weird, I found all of this in the game, in the literal FE wiki page and even in the manga that the mangaka is writing wroking with the writers and having played the game and that is adverstised as expanding on the game.
And Engage's story has it is is at best 7 hour long, not 40 hour long. That's 3H you talking about mate.
And I never bring up 3H once in my debunk, other then to point out that the dreams you call contrivance rely on the exact same strategy as 3H as a whole : different portrayal of one same event.
Also, the video maker admitted she NEVER played any other FE before 3H. As for you idk, but you are acting like a literal sheep, making a video made by someone who quoted the literal inteview where Tei, Yokota and Nakanishi said they wanted to make a simple story saying they were trying to write a "complex story" and who, as I saw scrolling down the comment, commented she didn't knew why they imitated Awakening that she was playing at the moment she made this comment, which is more recent then the video when in the literal interview she quoted they literaly explained why they wanted Engage to be more like Awakening, along with the lines of saying they wanted to write a simple story your entire personality and being very obnoxious, annoying and toxic about it.
And finally
Tumblr media
People, say it with me : IT HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR THE ENTIRE FRANCHISE !!!!! People even complained that in Tellius, despite being more involved in the plot, you still had support that required a special partner to learn said thing about said character and that it was easy to miss. As for 3H, if you never unlock some support you will never learn that said character is actually deeper then you though.
You are essentially complaining I am saying you need to play and complete a video game in its entierty to make a proper review of it and to understand the story. That's just making you sound like a lazy guy. To understand something, you need to make your braincells works and work to have it. Complainig that a game demands investissement from it's player is the equivalent of complaining that a book asks you to wait for the following one to understand the story as a whole.
And that's it. Sorry for the long post.
If you wanna add some more stuff you think I forgot, go ahead
so now can I go back to drawing ? please ? I have a cute Alear and Veyle fanart I wanna finish
The next couple of weeks went by smoothly. You were happy to be immersed in your dance studies. Thankfully, you were only subjected to Jonah's class on Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Not Jonah. Mr. King. You refused to let yourself be so familiar with him as to call him Jonah; even in your head. He has proven to be exceptionally strict and unfriendly with students. It made no difference. You don't know why you ever thought that you could be friends, or even acquaintances, with the man. You have noticed that in class, he never critiques or speaks to you directly.
He may mention something to Sebastian about "making sure your partner keeps their proper footing," but he would never actually address you.
You briefly wondered why, and then you pushed it from your mind altogether. It didn't matter, as long as you learned the steps for the performances and the course material.
Walking into class on a Wednesday, you were happy to see some students warming up in the corner of the studio. They were talking amongst themselves as they stretched. You threw your bag on the hook and went to your usual spot to stretch as well.
You had only been there for a couple minutes before J-, Mr. King, burst through the doors of the studio, making all the students go quiet, and stare in his direction. His hair was disheveled, and he quickly cast his eyes down to the floor as he entered the room. Removing his coat, he glanced your way as he walked to the closet, and briefly met your eyes. You suddenly returned your gaze to your slippers, and continued stretching. You didn't want to acknowledge or be acknowledged by him. Not singularly, anyway.
After a few minutes, Mr. King started the class. It went by relatively normally. Just as you were grabbing your things to leave, being one of the last few remaining, you saw a form out of the corner of your eye. Stiffening your back to stand up straight, you turned to face your instructor.
"(Y/N), your technique needs work. Come see me during office hours this afternoon," he curtly said, turning away from you.
"What? Mr. King," you almost grabbed his arm, but you realized yourself, and put your hand down. Jonah stopped nonetheless. "What do you mean my technique needs work? You haven't corrected me during class. What is not to your liking?"
Jonah faced you with a stony glare.
"Miss (Y/N), we will discuss it during my office hours. That is all."
As he walked away from you, all you could do was stare at his back, arms crossed, and tap your foot on the wood flooring. You were angry. How could he have a problem with your technique, but never say anything to you in class? He made it a point, it seemed, not to talk to you or critique you. And now he's got an issue with your dancing? Before you said anything you knew you would regret, you turned, and stormed out of the studio.
You were fuming as you power walked across campus to your room. You slammed the door and threw your bag down. You padded over to your bed and laid down in a huff. This man really got under your skin. Deciding that stewing in anger the whole time you waited for his office hours wouldn't do, you got up, and grabbed your things for a shower. You walked down to the communal showers, and reached in a stall to turn one on, as hot as it would go. You shed your clothes as quickly as you could, and stepped into the steam of the shower. Feeling the warm water coax your muscles relaxed you a bit. You let yourself dwell in this bliss for a while before you finally turned off the shower and grabbed your towel. Dressed in your robe, you walked back to your room, toweling off your damp hair.
Your mind was still reeling, wondering what on earth Mr. King wanted to correct you on. Looking at the clock back in your room, you realized that you still had another hour before his office hours. You knew that your mind wouldn't rest until the appointment, so you laid down in bed, and closed your eyes. A nap would do you wonders right about now.
Your alarm on your phone went off 45 minutes later. Shutting it off, and getting up to get dressed, you groaned. You felt like you had been sent to the principal's office in elementary. Dreading what was to come, you grabbed your coat, and headed out the door.
You had never actually been to Mr. King's office; until today, that is. It took you a moment to find it, looking at the directory in the admin building. Going up the elevator to the third floor, you tried to muster up your courage. You weren't going to let Mr. King push you around, but you were curious to see what he had to say. You gritted your teeth when the elevator stopped on the floor, the moment before the doors opened. There was no turning back now. Swiftly moving down the hall, you studied the office numbers, until you found Mr. King's. The door was closed. You knocked.
"Come in," you heard him call.
Exhaling a quick breath, you eased into his office space. It was roomier than you imagined. Jonah looked away from his computer screen, at your face, and motioned for you to sit down in front of his desk. You shut the office door behind you, and settled into the chair that was further away from him.
This time, when Jonah turned to face you, you registered that he was wearing glasses. He took them off, and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"(Y/N), thank you for coming. There is something I would like to discuss with you," he paused for a beat.
When he looked up and saw your confused expression, he continued.
"This matter is private. I ask that this information not leave this office."
Your knee was bouncing. Holy hell, you were nervous.
"There has been a recent report against me for misconduct. The costume designer for our school productions filed the complaint. It seems that she didn't appreciate my turning down her continuous offers for dates, and whatever else she had planned," Jonah shuddered.
"I didn't want to involve anyone else in this, but I read on your application that you have a tech background-," he explained.
You interrupted him.
"You read my application?"
Jonah studied you for a second, like he was trying to discern whether or not you were joking.
"Yes, (Y/N). I read all of my potential students' applications," he waved off, as if it were common sense.
"Now, the thing that I want to know from you is if you can find photos that were sent on a text chain between her and I. Even the deleted ones?"
His eyes looked desperate or hopeful. You couldn't tell which.
You shrugged.
"I should be able to. Is that all this is about?"
Again, Jonah seemed to be gauging your seriousness.
"Yes, it is. I couldn't discuss it in class, where others might hear. Why?"
You turned your head to the side, looking back at the door, and stretched out your legs.
"I had gotten myself worked up before coming in here, that's all," you clarified.
Holding your hand out, asking for the phone, you waited until he slipped it into your palm.
"It's Ursula. The messages I have pulled up there. She claims that when I sent her pictures, that she asked for, of last year's Don Quixote costume design, that there was an inappropriate photo in the mix. Which isn't true. I wanted you to show me how to pull up deleted photos so that I can show my bosses that there was never anything remotely inappropriate."
You clicked on his phone through the shared media and deleted photos. They were only pictures of costumes and mannequins, and one dancer in particular wearing said costumes.
"Who is she?" you asked, showing him the phone.
He scoffed.
"That was my star student that graduated last year. Her name is Vanessa, and she's off to do great things in the dance world. Why do you ask?"
You shrugged again, clicking through his phone.
"Just curious," you sighed. "Here. This is the shared media between the two of you in the chat," you showed him, "and this is how you get to your deleted photos," you handed him the phone back.
"You can 'permanently delete' the deleted photos from your phone, but there are data recovery software programs that can be used to retrieve them. If your bosses still have any doubts about your integrity, they can use those to investigate further. That will prove that there were never unprofessional photos exchanged," you assured him, looping your hands around your knees.
"Is that all?" you asked, trying to be a smartass.
"Yes," Jonah nodded, having put on his glasses again to look at his phone. "Thank you, (Y/N). And please remember that this information does not leave this room," his eyes met yours once more.
You nodded and stood up to leave.
"No problem. I don't know who I'd tell, anyway," you casually remarked.
Jonah watched your back as you moved to the door. When your hand touched the handle, he spoke again.
"You shouldn't have any doubts about your dancing, (Y/N). You're a natural," he complimented.
You turned to look at him, your cheeks heating up. Those were the kindest words he'd ever spoken to you.
"Thanks, Mr. King. I'll see you Friday," you smiled.
"Please," he knitted his fingers together on his desk after putting his phone down, "call me Jonah. See you then, (Y/N)."
I want to have an artstyle as captivating as Horikoshi Koehi Sensei and Ito Junji Sensei
To write stories as captivating and relatable as Ōima Yoshitoki Sensei's Koe no Katachi and Yamaguchi Tsubasa Sensei's Blue Period
I want to be able to leave funny Author's notes like Akutami Gege Sensei and Fujimoto Tatsuki Sensei
I don't need my stories to be world famous like Kishimoto Masashi Sensei's Naruto or Toriyama Akira Sensei's Dragon Ball
I don't need my series to last as long as Oda Eiichiro Sensei's One Piece or or even Asagiri Kafka Sensei's Bungo Stray Dogs
I don't need to leave a mark on history as deep as Dazai Osamu Sensei and Nakahara Chūya Sensei did
I just want to write beautiful, touching stories, with a beautiful artstyle.
I truly wish I had the talent, the passion, the drive, the ideas, I really do.
I wish I didn't feel like I was wasting my time rotting away.
I wish I could learn faster.
I wish I could at least get started.
Even if it's amateur, begginer stuff.
I wish I could put out something that I can call mine.
Anything.
I wish I could break away from the 1:1s and developpe my own artstyle.
I know it takes time..
But it feels like after 19 years I should be further than I am right now..
Why is it people around me seem to be so good at developping artstyles, writing stories, characters, being original, and I'm stuck. I can't do anything but colorless 1:1 copies. No matter how much I study, it's like I'm not fucking learning anything.
It's frustrating, irritating, discouraging and downright depressing.
It feels like I'm living a lie.
Like my dream is an unachievable lie.
I've alwyas been told with hard work I could do anything I wanted..
Am I not working hard enough then??
Am I not enough??
What the fuck am I missing??
Why does it seem there's some sort of secret universe all artists are privy to that I'm not??
Sometimes I just want to give up...
Never touch a pen again.
But I can't bring myself to..
Everytime I try, I'm taken by the urge to pick the pen back up and it feels like torture.
I love art.
It gives me a reason to live, dreams, aspirations, goals, something to always look forward to..
It also brings me pain, suffering, disstress, hours of mental tourment, so many tears, so many unanswered questions...
I don't know if I'll ever achieve my dreams..
But I'll keep working hard towards them..
Simply because giving up on them's not an option...
I hope.. if I do reach them.. I won't get there just to realise it's really not what I wanted in the end...
Ip Man 3 (2015)
Tumblr media
Ip Man 3 may offer the same expertly choreographed martial arts scenes as its predecessors but this movie’s entire front half is worthless. By the time it picks up, it’s too little too late, particularly when you consider the lame antagonists, bad performances and manufactured drama.
In 1959, Ip Man (Donnie Yen) must help the principal of his youngest son’s school. Property developper Frank (Mike Tyson) wants it for the prime real-easte it sits on. His criminal underling, Ma King-sang (Patrick Tam), will stop at nothing - not even arson or kidnapping - to convince the principal (Tats Lau) to sell. Meanwhile, Ip Man’s wife, Cheung Wing-sing (Lynn Hung) receives dire news from her doctor.
You get a bad feeling as soon as you realize they've cast Mike Tyson in the film. The man’s not an actor and even non-English speakers should be able to tell. What purpose does he even serve, except to - once again - introduce some “foreign devil” antagonists for Ip Man to defeat and then shoo away from his home? It certainly isn’t to give us something new, as Tyson is an English-speaking boxer - just like Taylor "The Twister" Miller from Ip Man 2. With his trademark face tattoo and daughter who looks NOTHING like him, it’s like he’s a time traveler.
You could’ve eliminated Frank altogether and only had Ma King-sang as the film’s villain. He’s certainly despicable enough and it might even be a nice change of pace for Ip Man to go up against someone who doesn’t have god-level martial arts skills. Unfortunately, this plot causes only frustration. Ip Man’s son is kidnapped, and not for ransom. Poor little Ip Ching will be sold into slavery unless the principal sells his building. “Alright!” you think to yourself. “These idiots are stupid enough to challenge Ip Man, a martial arts legend who’s saved China’s honor twice already. He’s always been cool, calm, and collected but now, the gloves are off. It’s time for him to go ballistic and teach these monsters a lesson.” but then, he doesn’t. The rescue is undertaken with the same intensity as a no-stakes match between old friends. Our hero doesn’t seem to care, so why should we? It’s a recurring problem with the film. People don’t call the police when witnessing crimes, even if it’s something as blatant and serious as an assassination attempt. I know the police are corrupt (they’re led by a white man, so how could they not be?) but Ip Man’s a respected member of society. He has close friends in the department. You could at least try!
This third chapter in the series isn’t all bad. It’s surprisingly effective when we move away from the school action plot and deal with Ip Man and his wife. There are tender, romantic scenes between them as they spend what could be their last days as husband and wife. Here, the film shows off some good performances. Despite this refreshing storyline, it eventually becomes frustrating as well. Ip Man spends all this time defending the school - his son's school, which is being threatened by ruthless gangsters. He's so dedicated to this cause that Wing-sing begins resenting her husband. She’s worried he won’t be there for her if her illness gets worse. Why she doesn’t just tell him the very important news she got from her doctor, I don’t know. Once they begin spending time together, a second antagonist, another practitioner of Wing Chun called Cheung Tin-chi (Zhang Jin), comes in. On paper, he's a great adversary. He's studied from the same school as Ip Man but applies the technique in different ways and morally, Tin-chi is little more than a glorified thug. Unfortunately, the picture fails to take advantage of these opposing dynamics. See, earlier in the film, Tin-chi accepted money to hospitalize one of Ip Man’s friends. We know he’s rotten but Ip never learns what Tin-chi did! How could writers Edmond Wong, Chan Tai-lee and Jil Leung miss that?!
Ip Man 3 often repeats what we’ve seen before and fails to take advantage of the natural drama that should emerge from its story. Despite some good performances and well-choreographed fights, it’s often tedious and feels phony. With the series once again teasing Bruce Lee but not utilizing him, it feels like they're just releasing more chapters to string us along. (Original Cantonese with English subtitles, June 4, 2021)
[Soulmates across realities]
BetterMiles | Spiderverse Soulmate AU 18-06-2023
[#milesbparker mmpbp, soulmate]
okay but what if, soulmate AU where you have you're soulmate's first words to you engraved somewhere on your body? And of course, you'll just KNOW they are the person when it happens, the mark even changing colour upon it happening.
Miles who has always been a bit frustrated and somewhat unsure by his own mark. "Hey Kid". This is just a common occurrence in his life, and of course, always came from people much older than he was.
even his parents seemed a bit concerned about that later fact.
Meanwhile, Peter had always wondered what kind of encounter he'd have for his words to be "Yes! I didn't kill you.". When he became Spider-man, he was a bit worried that it would be some criminal. Yet it never happened.
After so long of waiting, seeing everyone around him seemingly finding there's he had somewhat given up, especially with how well things went with MJ. Not everyone needed a soulmate anyway.
Then it didn't work out with MJ and after 37 years and no signs of someone being there for him he gave up.
Miles had been too surprised and shocked by the situation to properly register the heavy shiver that had gone through him when the Man had called out to him. Ignored the tingling sensation on his forearm. He was really lightly dressed for sure cold weather, he chucked it to that and the sudden shock of what had been happening.
Then the police had arrived and he was too preoccupied for the thought to even cross his mind once again.
Peter had been between two unconscious stricks when he heard it, nearly chucking the body shiver to his spidey sense going hay-wire at the situation. Yet something deep within him had registered more than clearly those words he had wished to hear and be followed by the unmistakable feeling for so long.
I feel like it takes them both a hot minutes before they realise what this actually was. Peter definitely has a crisis over the fact that his soulmate had been in another reality all along.
And what a *teenager*.
I feel like Miles wouldn't be 100% sure what to think about it. Maybe he's reassured that Peter has to be a good guy, after all, Spider-man is supposed to be a good guy, right?
I wonder how this would developpe. Because canon events makes it that obviously, they wouldn't have that much time to think about it if they wanna stop kingpin.
But there's also this feeling of not quite wanting to let Peter go. If he does, will it mean that they'll now be alone forever even after finding their soulmate? Sure, they are... /many/ years apart, but Miles still doesn't quite want to let it all go (and deep down, Peter also wishes to finally be around his soulmate "as you should want" a little voice in his head says).
what if this craving gets bigger and bigger when they realise that being close to each other and touching makes them feel better? even something as simple as slightly holding hands or leaning against one another.
Peter's who's always felt like there was a feeling of something missing by his side having it finally filled by Miles, not wanting to go back to his sad apartment and feel the same as before ever again. Because Miles attention and touch is enough to make that aching go away for a while.
Miles poor teenager mind who's feeling confused about all the new things he's feeling for someone else, adding to the already difficult situation of becoming a new spider-man too
I just want cross-dimensional soulmates who finally meets. Even better with the older one wanting to be selfish and wrong for once and keep his soulmate with him, so he doesn't have to feel that emptiness ever again. After all, he doesn't need to have a romantic (even less sexual) relationship with his soulmate! They can just be bud. (of course, that's not what happens).
