Ruby's parents abandoning her to be raised in a home at age 7. She watches all the younger kids and babies come and go as they each get adopted, always wondering why she was never chosen. She tried to look nice and wore a clean dress and a ribbon in her hair for adoption days but the parents could see the mischief behind her eyes and every time would pass her over for a younger calmer child. "No one wants a naughty girl" she sobs as she cries herself to sleep at night

A girl her age moves to the orphanage after both of her parents die at age 11 and they become inseparable for the next two years. One night they sneak out of the orphanage and steal some ice cream, they walk around the streets in the dark eating it and sharing secrets but then the other girl trips and falls into oncoming traffic. Ruby runs and tries to pull her out of the way but she's too late and she watches helplessly, tears silently steaming down her face as her best friend dies in her arms.

Ruby starting high school but all the kids /know/ she is that girl from the home that never got adopted. She tries to fit in with her peers but they just don't share any common interests. While the others in her grade gossip and go shopping and talk about bands and movies they like, Ruby goes home at night to clean up after and cook for the younger children at the orphanage, the woman who runs it has fallen into a drunken stupor but /someone/ has to take care of the little ones.

She turns 16 and is told "you're old enough to live by yourself now" and is subsequently kicked out of her home of 9 years. She struggles and finds herself unable to balance school and work life, so she drops out and works the streets. She runs into the wrong crowds and gets caught up in drugs and sex work and by her 17th birthday she is checked in for a compulsory stint at a rehabilitation clinic in favour of doing time at juvie,but she doesn’t mind because it’s a warm place to sleep and food on the table. what he wasn’t prepared for was the kindness and compassion the people in the clinic would show her. Not just the workers, but also other patients, especially one girl in particular that shares her room. The two of them connect instantly and Ruby remembers what it is like to have a friend, someone to care about who also cares for you.

Ruby and her roommate have the same release date from the clinic, but unlike her friend, Ruby has no home to return too. She is invited to come stay with her friend. Ruby uses her charm and manners while she stays there, and the parents agree to legally foster her for the last half a year or so that she is a minor, provided she stays clean. They give her a roof over her head and a sense of belonging and for once in her life Ruby thinks things are going to turn out okay

So Ruby stays with Tammi and her family, and she feels safe and at home there. As the two get closer, they become something more than friends. Late one night, after Tammi confesses her love to Ruby, they begin secretly dating, unbeknownst to Tammi's strict parents. When her parents find out by walking in on them making out one lazy summer afternoon, they give the girls an ultimatum. "Stop this madness or get out" so they pack their things and hit the road, and Ruby is once again homeles.

Refusing to break the promise they made to themselves and each other, the girls do not return to the life Ruby left behind last time she found herself living on the streets. Instead they turn to witchcraft, which Tammi had read about in an old book she had inherited from her aunt. Ruby is skeptical at first, but agrees to give it a shot, these were desperate times after all.

On the night they attempt their first spell, it's cold and dry, they head to a secluded building, neither of them knowing what to expect. A woman appears with olive skin, her hair and eyes as black as the night itself. She offers them a deal, their souls in exchange for all the witchcraft power they could dream of. "No. Just mine" Ruby counters, but the demon is not willing to negotiate. "It's worth it Rubs" Tammi pleads, trying to convince her, "We need this"

She caves, "How long did you say we get?" Ruby asks, still obviously unhappy with their arrangement. "10 years honey, take it or leave it" the demon says with a smirk. The girls look at each other, Tammi's eyes pleading Ruby to accept this offer against her better judgement, and how could she say no after everything Tammi has done for her? "Okay... We're in" And so, both girls' souls are damned to hell for eternity, where they will eventually be twisted into demonic beings. THE END

omg i feel you i have this text post about Sam ending up with Jess in heaven and literally THREE different people have added "it's canon that Sam ends up with Dean in heaven" like geT THE FUCK OUT i just find it so annoying like you //know// that wasn't a post for your ship why would you ruin it for the other people??? (i'm with you 100% hon not exactly the same thing but a similar anger)

overcompensating ace!dean who’s never been fond of the act or intimacy of sex but fronts bc he thinks it’ll please john and he doesn’t want to explain to sam

so he continues to pick up girls at bars and finger them or eat them out and then make up some sorry excuse as to why he has to high tail it out of there before they realize that he’s actually not very interested in the proceedings. sometimes he’ll fuck them, if he’s distracted or lonely enough, but it’s always perfunctory and dissatisfying.

even after john dies, dean keeps it up because old habits die hard. he feels empty, with his empty smiles and empty laughs, but through the haze of smoke and alcohol nobody notices, and if they do notice they don’t care. he’s a pretty boy with pretty lips, why wouldn’t he want to put them to good use?

after hell, any interest dean ever might have had in sexual activity has been carved out of him by alastair’s whip, his blade, his fingernails, burned from him as a result of his own ten years of weakness and monstrosity.

he figures sam might understand, after dean died, or at least not question him when he stops staying out so late and getting so drunk, when his three am walks-of-shame turn into ten pm sullen slinking back into the room, smelling like nothing but the aftershave he put on before he left. he still never wants to talk about it. he knows theoretically he’s not wrong, not abnormal, and that sam would be supportive, but he doesn’t want to address it because maybe he is wrong, maybe there’s something all fucked up in his wiring, and bringing it out in the open would make him weak and vulnerable, and if he’s either of those things he can’t be protecting sammy.

Tell me your favourite book of all time and why I should read it. Die For Me - Amy Plum, don't let the title turn you off the book, i absolutely adore this book, i've actually read it so much the spine on the book is breaking, Kate (main character) and her story is so incredibly sad and she finds a happiness even though it is a bit strange, i love this story, romance, fighting it's set in france and i just love it ^_^
