Meanwhile, in San Sequoia:

That afternoon, Iseul heads over to Megan and Emily’s place for dinner. She takes the train from San Myshuno to San Sequoia and walks the rest of the way since the weather is nice, her heart racing as she thinks of Megan. She arrives outside the apartment complex, where her niece Cam and Cam’s fiancée Piper are hanging out with their friend Darren. Iseul stops to say hi to the group and hugs Cam and Piper. Plus, she asks Darren how he and Vikram, his fiancé are doing, and is also teased by her niece for the moon eyed look in her eyes. “I knew you came here to see auntie Megs because your eyes are so lit up and you have that goofy smile.” Cam says lovingly as Iseul blushes.

Upstairs in the aparment, Megan checks in with her daughter. “Emmy, I know it’s been a tough couple of months with your ma and I divorcing, but thanks for agreeing to let Issy come over.” Megan says. Emily smiles as she fixes her hair in the mirror. “It’s kinda awkward, but I want you to be happy too. Just don’t kiss in front of me or anything, I don’t know if I’m ready to see you guys be mushy yet.” She adds and Megan nods. “Of course, let me know if there’s anything you’re not comfortable with,” Megan says, smoothing a lock of hair from Emily’s forehead and kissing the top of her head. “Mo-om,” Emily grumbles jokingly, but she allows Megan to hug her and kiss her again.

Megan heads downstairs once Iseul texts her, and she says hi to Piper, Cam, and Darren before pulling Iseul into a hug. “Hey,” she says softly. “Hey you,” Iseul says, pulling back to take Megan in. “What?” Megan asks with a grin. “Nothing, I just haven’t seen you in person for a month, so I want to take all of you in.” She says, her eyes warm. “Oh Kang, you’re still such a cheeseball.” Megan jokes, but she blushes as Iseul leans in to kiss her cheek. “Should we head up? I know Cam is getting ammunition to tease me with later,” Iseul says, blushing as her niece gives her a mischievous and teasing look again, and Megan laughs. “Sure, let’s go,” She says, leading the way up to the apartment.

Edit: A sim in a bear suit just decided to stroll by, as one does. I’m mostly surprised that some sims wear a bear suit outside of the bear night at the bar, not that I’m judging, I’m just confused. 🤔😂

Also, Oh man, when Cam tells her dad (Iseul’s brother) and her sis Cece about Iseul being sappy with Megs, she will be teased by the Kang family for years to come. 😳😄

Avalokiteśvara Mantra Meaning

Oṃ, as I’ve explained elsewhere, has only a mystical meaning — suggesting primordial reality, or the potential for enlightenment that pervades the universe.

Mani means jewel.

Padma means lotus (why the form in the mantra is “padme” is explained below).

Huṃ, like Oṃ, has no conceptual meaning.

Both jewels and lotuses are important symbolic elements in Buddhism.

Jewels represent what is most precious, so that Buddhists worship not just the Buddha, but the three jewels (Buddha, Dharma, or the teachings, and Sangha, or spiritual community). and jewels were considered indestructible, which made them an excellent symbol for eternal truths.

The lotus represents purity, in terms of how the enlightened mind is untouched by the negativity of the world. Just as the lotus can exist in muddy water without being soiled, so an enlightened being can exist in an impure world without becoming contaminated by its greed, hatred, or delusion.

The mantra is often “translated” as “Hail to the jewel in the lotus” but the Sanskrit simply can’t mean that.

The central element, manipadme, seems to be a name, Manipadma (“The Jewel Lotus One”) with the -e ending signifying the vocative case, meaning that Manipadma — is being invoked (“O Jewel Lotus One”).

But if this is the case, then according to the rules of classical Sanskrit, then Manipadma would have to be a feminine figure. And Avalokiteśvara is male.

However, if the mantra was originally in a non-Sanskrit language with different grammatical rules, and the vocative -e ending was applicable in that language to a masculine figure, then Manipadma would simply be another name for Avalokiteshvara.

The mantra of Avalokitesvara would then mean “Oṃ, O Jewel Lotus One, Hūṃ” — the “Jewel Lotus One” being an alternative name for Avalokitesvara himself.
