How did all of you meet (you’re all in different countries) and then decide it was a good idea to start scanlating? Thanks for continuously scanlating the GSNK chapters for us fans

We met during an all expenses paid cruise (thanks, Groupon™™™!) through the Caribbean that ran out of salad for the salad bar 15 hours into the cruise. We were all very upset about the lack of salad and discovered our shared love of GSNK while commiserating.

But really though, after Roselia dropped it, vari and grolia independently both picked it up and did a couple chapters on their own before they were like “yo, u wanna work together?” so they did a bunch of chapters, just the two of them.

shotty messaged one of them like “hey, yall need any help translating gsnk?” and they said yes and thus the original trio came to be! 

after that, the other members contacted us through tumblr and offered their help

Out of curiosity, how did you guys get into Japanese? (what made you want to learn it?)

Vis: I got really salty about getting rejected from Japanese classes in school so with the power of God (bless the internet) and anime I exacted my revenge.

Adastra: It was a few of things for me 1. the Japanese sensei was super charming  2. I was reading Rurouni Kenshin at the time… 3. I couldn’t pronounce r’s when I was a kid, so I was terrified of taking Spanish (dem gorgeous rolled r’s…)

ive been meaning to ask, how is variatona pronounced? is it variation - a or varia- ton- a ??

To be honest I’m not quite sure either LOL I made this account when I was 7th-8th grade so who knows what that kid had in mind?? But in my head I say ‘vari-eh-shi-oh-na’ ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ A lot of people just call me ‘Vari’ tho, which is a lot easier

Is it just me, or was there a chapter where Nozaki tried out drawing on a tablet? It's strange... I vaguely remember reading it somewhere, but now I can't find it.

how tall are the mods? where do you stack up next to the characters in the manga?

mod grolia - nearly 5′2′‘ (157 cm)

mod shotgun - 5′3′‘ (app. 160 cm)

mod variationa - 5′4′‘ (app. 162.5 cm)

So basically we’re Seo/Hori’s height or thereabouts, still considerably taller than Sakura though :b

What shoujo anime/manga 's do you like the most? Do you know akatsuki no yona?

mod grolia: I loved the Akatsuki no Yona anime <3 I like a lot of shoujo series, including Kimi ni Todoke. [edit] oh but I LOVE NATSUME YUUJINCHOU SO MUCH ATM

Thank you for all of your hard work :D I was just curious, how did all of you find GSNK? (for me, the TOMODDAAAA anime scene was floating around tumblr and I had to check out the anime and then i had to read the manga)

mod grolia: saw a photoset of Seo (y’know being her Seo self) and later read a review of the first 2 episodes. I blitzed through those episodes and watched episode 3 as soon as it was out, and I was instantly hooked!!! started the manga not long after

mod minthae (or call them min like we do heh): my sister told me about it a few years ago but i didnt really get into it until i rewatched it recently. ive no idea why i didnt like it before. gsnk is amazing.

mod shotgun: i found gsnk while i was learning japanese. some people on the forums for the website i was learning from recommended it. i read the manga first, watched the anime after that.

mod variationa: I found gsnk when I was just browsing the gangan website, I was looking for another manga but found gsnk instead LOL

what are your least favourite parts on working on GSNK?

mod variationa: Hardest part is finding the time and motivation to finish my part Dx

mod grolia: The only one true bit I dislike about working on GSNK is when school cockblocks me and slows me down I guess?? orz

mod shotgun: i hate not having enough time to work on it and getting further and further behind the raws :(

what are your guys favorite parts of working on translating gsnk? redrawing? typesetting?

mod shotgun: mine’s gotta be seeing everyone enjoy the releases :P i also enjoy typesetting

mod variationa: Mine is definitely typesettinggg, I collect a lot of fonts and it’s fun to use them

mod grolia: Probably typesetting for me, watching myself translate and type out really hilarious dialogue is oddly satisfying haha

Heya ! o/ Once again, thanks a lot for all the work put into translating !! Also I wondered if anyone here shipped MayuMiko because they're actually a main ship of the manga but I feel it's underrated ? I mean a gay couple in such a popular shojo manga is extremly important ! What do you think about it ?! ☆

mod variationa: I don’t actively ship it, but it’s definitely adorable! I wouldn’t mind seeing more of it, I think it’d be pretty cool of tsubaki-sensei if she does make it canon

mod grolia: I ship them two but I sadly don’t consider them a canon main couple (yet?) since I don’t think Tsubaki treats them that way. Since she did pair them up back when Mayu was a girl, I hope she plans to do something more! And many people do have lots of love for them : )

mod shotgun: if yall go to the credits for ch 76 which was when mayu and miko go to a goukon together, you can see my losing it over the development lol. i do ship it but i also don’t consider it canon either
