Hello! I've been discussing the GSNK timeline with people on Discord, and chapter 79 came up (78 in the manga volumes). Both your translation and the official translation make it seem like Nozaki has already written 10 volumes worth of content in 2 years which made me think the timeline is messed up. However, someone on Discord said the Indonesian version clarifies that Ken-san thinks Let's Fall in Love WILL run for 10 volumes or more. Could the raw version be translated this way?

Hello! I double-checked with other mods and we think the official translation (as well as ours) is still valid, though the alternative translation you brought up isn’t really out of the question either. Yen Press has been reliable from what I’ve seen/heard so I feel inclined to trust them, but we think it could be interpreted either way.

It’s not something that I’d be so concerned about since 1) it was meant to be a meta joke* and shouldn’t be taken seriously and 2) GSNK timeline is uh, warped atm due to the endless summer uniforms and Tsubaki’s lack of desire to graduate Hori age the cast

*context: it’s typical for manga to release multiple volumes in a year (2 to even 3) and GSNK was approaching its 5th year at the time

from translating to cleaning, redraw and typeset, which one is took the longest time for you guys?

mod grolia: Redrawing for sure, typesetting and cleaning is straightforward but redrawing is annoying bc you have to match the original and sometimes you even have to make it up bc of the awkward blank spots you get from cleaning, and you have to make it look as smooth/natural as possible

mod shotgun: redrawing because i’m bad with digital art so i have to redo things a lot to get something passable

mod variationa: I do typing, redrawing, and cleaning all in a big clusterfrickfrack so I never think about it separately, but I guess redrawing takes the longest for me too? Although I do spend a lot of time trying to find a good font and still end up usually the same ol same ol

How did all of you meet (you’re all in different countries) and then decide it was a good idea to start scanlating? Thanks for continuously scanlating the GSNK chapters for us fans

We met during an all expenses paid cruise (thanks, Groupon™™™!) through the Caribbean that ran out of salad for the salad bar 15 hours into the cruise. We were all very upset about the lack of salad and discovered our shared love of GSNK while commiserating.

But really though, after Roselia dropped it, vari and grolia independently both picked it up and did a couple chapters on their own before they were like “yo, u wanna work together?” so they did a bunch of chapters, just the two of them.

shotty messaged one of them like “hey, yall need any help translating gsnk?” and they said yes and thus the original trio came to be! 

after that, the other members contacted us through tumblr and offered their help

Out of curiosity, how did you guys get into Japanese? (what made you want to learn it?)

Vis: I got really salty about getting rejected from Japanese classes in school so with the power of God (bless the internet) and anime I exacted my revenge.

Adastra: It was a few of things for me 1. the Japanese sensei was super charming  2. I was reading Rurouni Kenshin at the time… 3. I couldn’t pronounce r’s when I was a kid, so I was terrified of taking Spanish (dem gorgeous rolled r’s…)

okay so the script is weird bc internet browsers think it’s evil and they’ve marked the page as not secure as a result, so on the computer browsers you have to disable protection for now (Firefox) or Load unsafe scripts (Chrome) to properly view everything

if you’re browsing on a smartphone/tablet or through the app then I don’t think there’s any hope for you, soz

mod grolia: I enjoy a bit of everything but slice-of-life and parody/gag series are great (cough gintama) :D

mod minthae: i like horror/dark mangas the most!! also shoujos !(our fave shoujo series here btw!)

mod shotgun: its impossible to choose one absolute favorite but the first chapter that comes to mind is the flashbacks to when nozaki and chiyo met. the gate scene kills me every time
