My number one pet ffxiv theory is that the moogles are venat’s first draft of what would become the loporrits and the moggle mog myth is a mutation of their escape from the omphalos and/or the moon. While there is probably something in the game disproving this, one must admit itd be in character for venat, known lover of cute kitschy things, to have made the moogles. And made them both 1. A bit too independent and 2. Able to fly
