"Garrus is a character who went from being a shit head punk in ME1 and grows and betters himself over the games. He talks over the hard choices in ME3 without judging Shepard no matter what they choice. He is pretty much the first to stand up for them and even when his own home is being destroyed and he doesn’t know if his father and sister are alive he’s there for SHEPARD. He is there for the person who is always there for everyone else! ME3 Garrus is honestly Best Garrus and I want to celebrate how good his character arc is over the games.

And the best part is: the romance doesn’t fix him. He still grows and improves if you romance him or not!

Idk, I just don’t think it’s super fair to reduce him to his ME1 character when the fact that him growing and improving is the part I like best about him. Garrus, to me, shows you can always get better and life is about always getting better. It’s never too late to be better.

i. simeon

he sees you there, in the celestial realm. he had known your soul was pure from the very beginning, but seeing you among the angels was like a knife to his gut, a reminder of his failures to protect you. 

you weren’t supposed to be here, not now, at least. it was far too early for you to die. simeon can’t help but feel bitterness well up within him as you turn from michael to look for someone in the crowd (he knew it was him. he hoped it was him).

your features light up – simeon feels his heart skip a beat. even now you were just as he last remembered you, he had always taken the time to visit you in the devildom, even after his internship was over. you more beautiful than any angel he had ever seen. 

you embrace him tight, and the tighter you squeeze the more he feels like he can’t breathe, the combating feelings waging a war in his mind. he should’ve been watching over you; what kind of guardian angel was he to let his human die like this?

“i’m sorry,” he doesn’t know why his voice cracks when he says it. simeon? losing his composure? he had garnered many millennia of years of experience working to keep it up. “i’m sorry i didn’t protect you.”

“it’s okay simeon,” he feels your hands squeeze the back of his cloak. a wicked thought crosses his mind; maybe if you dug your nails in harder he would have some penance for his failures. if you cut through the bone and marrow and reached his heart then maybe his father would forgive him – maybe you would forgive him for his short-comings. “i’m here now.”

“right,” he breathes you in as if to convince himself. simeon feels the strength of his bond with you overwhelm him, he can feel how much you care for him and he feels his chest fill with warmth, chasing away his guilt, if for the moment. “you’re here forever. with me. nothing can hurt you here, i promise.”

ii. luke

luke had always told you to be mindful of demons, that they were evil creatures who would take any opportunity to kill you. it had seemed that his warning had proved true in the worst way. if only he hadn’t been a cherub; if uriel had promoted him to be your guardian angel like he had asked, maybe this could’ve been avoided.

but he was overwhelmed with how happy he was at the fact that you would be spending time with him forever in the celestial realm. he had wanted nothing more ever since you had become friends in the devildom. you were the one light for him in the exchange program.

“you’re here!” luke chirps, sprinting down the golden bricks of the road to the archangels’ house. “you’re really–!” you’re suddenly enveloped in a hug as luke wraps himself around your waist. 

“hello luke!” you smile from ear to ear, ruffling up his neat hair. usually, he’d make a comment about you not treating him like a child, but for now it seems he’s too busy nuzzling into you. “it’s good to see you again.”

“yes! i’m happy to see you,” he pulls away, cheeks visibly flushed. “i’m sorry that i wasn’t there to protect you from those mean old demons but… everything will be fine now that you’re here!”

“would you like to give them a tour of the celestial realm?” michael chimes in with a smile, the younger angel’s eyes lighting up like a christmas tree.

luke nods excitedly, taking your hand in his, already tugging you out of the estate: “we have so much to do! we can’t waste any time!”

iii. solomon

solomon spirals hard.

there was a reason solomon pushed everyone away, why most people in his life were kept an arms length apart. he got too attached to things; to power, to magic, to anything that gave him that needed adrenaline rush… why would you be any different? you, the only person he has ever loved had been snatched out of his hands.

and worst of all, he had been powerless to save you. 

all the magic and demon pacts and connections in the world couldn’t stop you from bleeding out in his arms. humans like you were much too fragile for his liking; he had worked tirelessly his whole life to be anything but.

if he couldn’t get what he wanted from the damned, he would have to turn his eyes to the celestial realm. if he had to tear down the heavens and bring you crashing back down to earth, he’s sure he would. 

making bonds with angels was much more difficult than that of demons, but he found after nights of endless research that plucking a few of their feathers would get them to sing. 

he’s covered in golden ichor when he manages to bring you back – a life for a life. he finally was able to do it, not only to bring a human back to life, but to bring you back. solomon rises, shakily, as you feel your body materialize out of the magic sigil etched into the floor. he smiles gently, looking at you as if you were the only thing that mattered.

so why do you look back at him with such horror?

iv. diavolo

he had bargained with the archangels before, but never for a life.

in all accounts, a human choosing to leave the celestial realm and go to the devildom was unheard of. being cast out of heaven was notoriously the worst punishment anyone could receive.

but you do, you would always choose him over all the luxuries and beauty of the heavens every single time. it was true that love made people do stupid things.

michael sends you back to the devildom months after diavolo’s terms were set, a gift with the price of owing the ruler of the celestial realm a favor. michael was known for his kindness, but diavolo knew that there was more to him than that. he was smart enough to know that michael would never jeopardize the devildom, but angels never forgot debts owed. it was a risk, but one diavolo had no choice but to take. 

above all the benevolence and good-will he draped himself in, at his core, he was a selfish demon; perhaps moreso than anyone else in the devildom. 

he holds you against his chest the whole night. in the morning, he’d have duties and meetings to go to. but for now, you were his. 

“little one,” he mumbles into your hair, hands tight around your waist, “make a pact with me. that you may be at my side forevermore.”

v. barbatos

in so many other timelines he sees you, shining, alive. he starts to resent the other versions of himself for being happy with you (or even worse, happy with any of the others). barbatos could pull you out as easily as he could breathe; he had a mastery over his powers that other lower demons could only imagine. 

but it wouldn’t be the same, he reminds himself, it wouldn’t be his version of you. 

he knew the way to get you back, it’d be to break his own rule: do not interact with the past. diavolo had given him permission to bring you back, it would be a stain on the exchange student program if one of the humans came back dead after the second semester. but he wasn’t so sure, what if the you he brought back wasn’t the you he remembered? 

barbatos does it anyways, knowing he can’t refuse an order from his lord. the you in the celestial realm will be erased from existence replaced with the you of the past, the one who doesn’t know what it’s like to die. the two can only hope it doesn’t cause drama in the celestial realm.

“barbatos?” you question as you walk in the gardens with him, completely oblivious to it all. if he hadn’t been so happy that you had returned, he would feel guilty for not telling you of your death. sometimes, ignorance was bliss. “are you okay? you seem more quiet than usual.”

“do i?” he muses, forcing a soft smile for you. “i’m afraid i’m simply just a bit tired. sleep evaded me last night.” the last part wasn’t a lie.

“sorry to hear that,” you pout, “if you want to go nap, you should!

“do you not wish to spend time with me?”

“it’s not that…” you kick at the ground, arms crossed behind your back. “it’s just we have all the time in the world though, right? i want you to be rested when we’re together.”

he feels as if you’ve struck him with an arrow to his chest. barbatos sees your lifeless body in his mind, did you know and were trying to taunt him? or were you simply just this sweet?

“i suppose you’re right.” he nods his head, “but you’re coming with me.”

I was supposed to protect you

Part 2

Diavolo

Diavolo, the future King of the Devildom, was a force to be reckoned with. His power was overwhelming, and his presence commanded respect. But even he, with all his strength and authority, was struggling. The battle had taken a toll on him, and for the first time, you saw doubt flicker across his face.

The enemy launched a devastating attack aimed directly at him, and for a moment, Diavolo didn’t have enough time to counter it. His eyes widened, realizing the danger too late.

Without a second thought, you threw yourself in front of the blast.

“MC!” Diavolo’s voice was filled with shock and horror, something you’d never heard from him before. He rushed to your side as you collapsed, his powerful hands catching you just before you hit the ground.

“Why would you...?” His voice trembled as he cradled you in his arms, his usual regal composure completely shattered. He was the Prince of the Devildom, yet he couldn’t stop this. He couldn’t stop you from slipping away.

You tried to smile, to show him you didn’t regret it, but it hurt too much to form words. Diavolo’s expression crumpled, tears gathering in his eyes as he held you tighter, as if he could somehow keep you with him.

“MC, please... I need you,” he whispered, his voice desperate and broken. But it was too late. You had saved him, and that was enough.

Barbatos

Barbatos was always composed, always several steps ahead of everyone else. His calm demeanor never wavered, even in the most dangerous situations. But this time, the enemy had caught him off guard. A powerful strike was coming his way, and for once, Barbatos didn’t see it coming in time.

You saw it before he did, though, and in an instant, you made your choice.

You stepped between Barbatos and the attack, taking the full brunt of the blow.

“MC...” Barbatos’s voice was softer than you had ever heard it, full of disbelief as you collapsed into his arms.

He knelt beside you, his normally composed face etched with something you had never seen before—genuine fear. “Why?” he whispered, his voice trembling slightly. “You didn’t need to do that.”

You tried to respond, but your body was growing heavier, the pain too overwhelming. Barbatos tightened his grip on you, his eyes dark with regret. For once, he hadn’t been able to predict what was going to happen. He hadn’t been able to save you.

“I... I should have protected you,” he murmured, his voice breaking in a way that was foreign to him. The timekeeper who was always in control, always calm, had lost something he couldn’t get back.

Solomon

Solomon, the ever-cunning sorcerer, was locked in a fierce battle with the enemy, casting spell after spell with a determined look on his face. But even the most powerful human had limits, and Solomon was nearing his.

The enemy’s next strike was aimed directly at Solomon, and for a moment, you saw the panic flash in his eyes. He couldn’t deflect it in time.

Without hesitation, you threw yourself between him and the attack, absorbing the impact yourself.

“MC!” Solomon’s voice rang out, full of horror and disbelief. His usual calm, teasing demeanor disappeared in an instant as he rushed to your side.

He knelt beside you, his hands shaking as he tried to stabilize you, casting healing spells in vain. “Why... why did you do that?” he asked, his voice trembling.

You could see the panic in his eyes as he realized that no amount of magic could save you. His hands moved frantically, trying to cast every spell he knew, but it wasn’t enough. You were slipping away, and there was nothing he could do.

“MC... I’m supposed to protect you,” Solomon whispered, his voice raw with emotion. “I... I promised I’d look after you...”

But even the most powerful sorcerer couldn’t stop death. And as your vision faded, you felt his grip tighten on you, the weight of his regret hanging heavy between you both.

Simeon

Simeon was an angel of light, a beacon of hope even in the darkest of times. But today, even he was struggling. The enemy’s attacks were relentless, and despite Simeon’s divine strength, he was starting to falter.

The enemy launched a strike aimed directly at him, one that could be fatal if it hit. Simeon’s eyes widened, but he wasn’t fast enough to block it.

You moved before you could think, throwing yourself in front of him just as the blow landed.

“MC!” Simeon’s voice was filled with shock, his usual gentle tone now laced with panic. He caught you as you fell, his strong arms cradling you as if you were the most precious thing in the world.

“Why...?” Simeon whispered, his voice trembling as he held you close. His eyes, usually so full of light and warmth, were now clouded with grief. “You didn’t have to... I would have been fine...”

You tried to smile, but the pain was too much. Simeon’s grip on you tightened, his wings trembling slightly as he leaned over you, his tears falling silently onto your skin.

“MC, I can’t lose you,” he murmured, his voice breaking as he held you closer. “Not like this...”

But there was nothing he could do. As the darkness closed in, you could feel Simeon’s sorrow, the way his heart ached as he realized he couldn’t save you.

Luke

Luke, despite his young age, was full of determination and bravery, always trying to prove himself. But in this moment, facing a dangerous enemy, you could see the fear in his eyes. He wasn’t ready for this, and the enemy’s next attack was aimed directly at him.

You didn’t think. You couldn’t let Luke, so full of light and innocence, take that hit. Without hesitation, you stepped in front of him, taking the blow meant for him.

“MC!” Luke’s voice was high-pitched with panic as you collapsed in front of him. He rushed to your side, his small hands trembling as he tried to shake you awake. “No, no, no! You can’t... you can’t leave me!”

His voice was frantic, full of fear as tears welled up in his eyes. He had always looked up to you, always relied on you, and now you were slipping away before his eyes.

“Why would you do that?” Luke cried, his tears falling freely. “You’re supposed to be okay! You’re supposed to be with me!”

You wanted to reassure him, to tell him it was alright, but the pain was too much. Your vision was fading, and the last thing you heard was Luke’s heartbroken sobs as he begged for you to stay.

What were you thinking when you added bigfoot as a datable? Like his route is great and I love him but what led to you thinking "Need another emotional story for my cryptid phone game.... sasquatch"

Dialtown is, in essence, the amalgam of like 10 scrapped/unpublished projects rolled into one. while most of the datables were created for DT specifically, characters like Crown, Milt, Gingi, Mingus, even Stabby/Shooty and the Narrator were lifted from scrapped projects I've had on the backburner for the whole time I worked on DSaF and when I finished making that series, I had a challenge in figuring out which idea was 'the one'. In the end, I wound up going through each story, taking out the bits i felt were strongest or could function well in a larger story, modified them and built off what I ended up with.

One of those scrapped projects was a cryptid dating sim where you played as various iconic cryptids with unique needs/drawbacks.

Bigfoot was on the docket for that project and while most of the ideas in the project weren't exactly realized in Dialtown (a few are implied to be canon in DT's universe through the writing), Bigfoot's appearance is very authentic to what I had in mind for that character, minus the object head.

It's therefore just as accurate to depict me creating a phone dating sim around bigfoot as it is to say that i inserted bigfoot into a phone dating sim since i was teasing doing something with the character before i decided what the game was gonna be. many of the project drafts i had/almost made around this time involve bigfoot in some shape or form. He's even canon to DSaF and explicitly mentioned in 3, a detail people sometimes forget, with a pretty massive reference to that appearance alongside his DT appearance.

Bigfoot's presence was always in my work. a soothing and distant source of comfort. thank you.

i wish we had alloaro representation in media. a charming character who fucks - both literally AND aesthetically. one that makes other characters go "wow! they're so cool and good in bed, but ultimately un-datable, because as soon as they sense any romantic intention on you, they flee" (kinda like lucifer morningstar from "lucifer". he's aroallo in my heart)

a character who's funny and has a horrifyingly 80's sense of fashion (they have a curly combed-out mullet and mismatched earrings. you'll find them at pride wearing a corn costume because it "matches the aroallo flag" and they're "being subtle") or one who's the embodiment of a 60's greaser (their motorcycle helmet is themed after the aro flag and the back of their leather jacket says "LOVELESS / LOVE LOSES") or one who's a girly fanfiction writer that has more ships than a star wars movie (their fics are muntifandom-ly famous and most their stuff is covered in yaoi/yuri patches and stickers. everyone thinks they're a hopeless romantic because of it, but that's exactly why they're so big on the fiction ≠ reality discourse) or...

anyone else, really. just ultimately a HUMAN who's casually aromantic. one who doesn't make it a parade but isn't subtle about it, either. will they hold other character's hands? maybe. kiss their cheek? perhaps. hang out with them, on picnics and walks along the river? can't see why not! but platonically. or maybe have them be genuinely romance-repulsed & not so eager to participate in anything socially perceived as romantic. that would also be amazing.

let them express themselves sexually! let them fuck. give them a..."fuckbuddy", if you must. or a best friend who's sexually involved with them - classic romcom material, i know - but without it being "complicated"; because there's no romance involved to complicate it.

give them funny scenes. another character tries to kiss their lips or ask them on a date? they laugh nervously, the scene cuts and we get a hilarious shot of them escaping through the bathroom window. or audibly saying "ew" and then regretting it. another character is struggling to write a romcom/romance book without it being corny? we get a scene where our character casually describes the most romantical (and, to them, unappealing) plot ever - because, much like aces acing the smut department, they're far from misunderstanding what is or isn't heartstopping for alloromantics - only to have the other character stare at them like "?????????? HELLO????". give us a scene of them being confused as to why their hookup is yelling at them for acting "so casual" and responding with a quotable shitty line ("just because we had sex last night i can't call you "bro"? / "what? expected me to marry you or something? get off my bed, it's 9AM" / "would you rather have me mad? sad? what's happening here. give me a hint")

but give them complicated scenes too. scenes portraying the loneliness that comes with being aromantic but not asexual, the lack of community. them talking about how hard it is to maintain sexual relationships just sexual. the painful "breakups" because one of their friends declared their undying love for them but they cannot possibly match that energy, even if they wanted to. have them weep because somehow that keeps happening. the unfairness in being accused of heartlessness and selfishness by other queers. the shame on being told they're fetishistic and the reason why queer men/women/people are seen as sex-crazed or impure.

...anyways, i'm rambling- do y'all have any aroallo ocs? or ideas for alloaro characters? maybe aroallo headcanons? i'd love to know what you think! :)

this is less of a request and more of a "what are your thoughts" but I was wondering if, since the undateable trio will never be added to the OG/NB intimacy system, what you think their surprise guest preferences would have been? (like where you think they'd like to be tapped, what physical touch they would react best too, etc)

it's been something that has been on my mind since forever (specifically for Mephisto because of course lol) and i would love to hear your reasoning/thoughts if you have any! it's a bit of an odd/random request probably so if you dont feel any inclinations about it then no worries about passing on my ask. love your writing 🫶

THAT… is a complicated question! What interactions (taps, gift giving, pets, ignoring, shaking the phone) and more importantly in what order to do those interactions in is determined by the dialogue the characters says before the interaction and OM and NB have different dialogues although they mirror one another leading to the same interactions they like best. Such as, whether in the OG or NB to get the best interactions with Beel post battle Head tap, then chest pet, and chest pet again, for the high five do the high five, arm tap, then arm rub.

None of the characters have a specific touch they like best technically?????? Kinda????? but it dose seem at least SOME have preferences like Mammon, any 3 star battle interaction just pet his face, nothing else and you’ll get the best results. Most of Satan’s, Diavolo’s and Barbatos’ interactions that net you the most points always involve a lot of chest taps, sometimes nothing but chest taps. A good chunk of Levi’s and Belphies best are head rubs and taps. For Simeon it’s not a certain location but most of his best interactions involve pets whether they be on the head, face, or chest.

HOWEVER, that dose not mean I have nothing to add. For the longest time every character has had a corresponding favorite food, but when you look at the list of foods, there are three extra, and oh would you look at that, it seems each of these are rather fitting to our undatable three. Each of their descriptions even state “???’s favorite.” IT’S SOMEONE’S FAVORITE! I swear either those three were meant to be datables earlier on but got delayed or something. ESPECIALLY because these foods UNLIKE the previous undatables of Diavolo, Barbatos, Luke, Simeon, and Solomon, have flavor text.

(I have a pet conspiracy theory that Mephisto, Raph, and Thirteen were meant to be introduced in season three, possibly even be dateable instead of making the side characters datable, but those guys got so popular it was a business decision to make them datable and leave the new three for later. Like, in season two the reaper’s cave was super important and they were HINTING SO HARD, PRATICALLY OUT RIGHT CALLING OUT THIRTEEN they just hadn’t said her name! And quote unquote the new three’s food all has flavor text, just like the datable brothers, and not the side guys, like their stuff was made last minuet. Hell you could even go so far as to theorize that the reason people generally agree that the story starts going down hill season three onward is because that was not how it was meant to be but the side characters had to be forced in to be datable because of money! I’d say the Comfort Candy for Thirteen “Eating this candy will change your mood.” I believe she’d have fun with that one, or maybe it wouldn’t even effect her at all considering she is death and not the average… alive creature to get effected by things.

Black Coffee of Melancholy for Mephisto, I recall there being the string of chats in the OG where there was a rumored hole that would suck out all your joy, Satan goes to message Mephisto about it and it seemed he was unaffected, Satan assuming he was too late and Mephisto lost all joy. Given Mephisto has been described as always busy I could see him drinking the stuff to keep up with all his work. This also leads to interesting implications either A. Mephisto throws out all joy so he can concentrate on the task at hand, B. it doesn’t matter since he’s only happy either in Diavolo and his little brother’s presents anyway, or C. it’s stated that he’s just about as powerful as Lucifer so it is entirely possible neither the hole nor the coffee can effect him at all in their more magical aspects at least.

Then that leaves the Backstabbing Sandwich for Raphael… okay not gonna lie the descriptor doesn’t quite fit him, but we could also say that because this game has been in development for a while and things change such as the history and personality of the character who was intended to get this food. But… c’mon, a stabby food dose fit the man considering all the spears now littering the Devildom due to him. UNLESS… it’s an irony thing, the volatile angel not actually not being the bad guy in a narrative where you’re expected to side with the demon brothers always.

Considering your love of Mephistopheles, I can come up with a few ideas of how his interactions would go.

I say he’d like chest taps the “true/born as demons” aka Diavolo, Barbatos, and Satan all heavily favor chest taps so I’d say it’d be the same for our noble here as well as being ignored (more on that here jump to Demons and Courting: Showing Interest the paragraph before the related tangent), and as I said before the coffee as his favorite food.

As for other gifts, generally you need to do a specific action order for the character to like the whip of love, I say there be more opportunities than average to use it and him liking it, considering he’s a strong demon and demons society can be a bit… violent I say this man embraces that aspect of his home and CAN find it charming you’re trying to leave a mark, on HIM, how bold of you. I would find it funny if the “bad” interactions are him asking if you even know what you’re doing, he wasn’t hurt or annoyed by the action itself but your lack of skill in wielding the whip that I feel is fitting for him.

Other things from the… medicine category, idk what it’s called, the section with the whip, and bandages. He likes both the medicine and poison. The others are neutral.

As for the presents, loves flowers, likes the movie ticket, perfume, and message card.

Murder Drones | V Dating Headcanons

Woah, she's definitely one of the most datable characters of all time.

Her specific reactions to it is one of confusion and the literal definition of "FUUCCCCKKKK YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!", and she won't really make it known. You'll ask her to go on a date to whatever place you want, be that a mall, restaurant (which would be weird, since they can't eat) or whatever, their visible reaction is all the same.

"Sure, whatever."

"...That's it?"

"Did you expect a bigger reaction? And I thought you were more sophisticated than that."

"sHUSH-"

Whenever she isn't around you, she's probably (most likely) panicking about what just happened. You just asked her out on a date, and now she's thrown into this situation where you'd see out of a cliche movie.

What should she wear? What should she say? What does she do? She should just call this whole thing off.

Obviously, she doesn't. Otherwise, we wouldn't have headcanons here besides reactions.

She'd probably go to Lizzy to deal with the dress problem. Lizzy would probably inquire about what the occasion was, and V will just deflect it; just using the excuse of the upcoming prom, or funeral, depending on which episode you're placing yourself in.

She'd probably trust N enough to tell him about your date request, and dammit, he'll do his best to be the best wingman. He'll give advice to V about what she should say, about your interests, all the basic things you'd probably expect from a wingman that actually possibly know what he's doing or saying.

She'd be internally biting her -Non-Existent- fingernails as the day of the date comes upon her, and she might as well have been overheating about it all. Her inner worker drone self is starting to unravel, but she presses on anyway.

Obviously, how the whole date goes about depends on what you're doing.

If you're taking initiative, (I.e flirting, being extroverted, pointing out her blush on her visor that she's trying to desperately wipe away, etc), she's embarrassed. How dare you take lead on being the flirty asshole? That's her job!

Maybe you'll inquire about what she was doing the days before, and she won't mention she was freaking out to N while Uzi was secretly watching from a corner snickering at her. She'll just say that she was 'getting oil, hanging out with Lizzy. The usual.'

If you weren't taking initiative, (I.e being about as blushy as V was, letting her to all of the talking while you were just staring at her, etc) than she'll be a lot more... devious. I don't know how else to explain it.

She'll put her head in her hands while she teases you about being blushy mushy wushy, completely ignoring that she was damn near doing the same thing moments prior.

"Awwww, is somebody embarrassed?"

"You're just as embarrassed as me right now! Shut up!"

"..."

Don't mind that she was sweating bullets, because more than likely she was waiting for you when you were on your way to the agreed spot for the date.

When all is said and done, she'll probably think 'this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.' Of course, she's going to be kind of patting herself on the back for a job well done.

V probably isn't the best person to go on a date with if you're a worker drone, given her... past with them. Same goes for humans. But she certainly tried her best, whether she was thinking about it or not.
