Stressed Out
MAIN MASTER LIST
Word Count: 1.k <
Warnings: Not really any, kind of ooc Sherlock (but who cares)
Author's Note: Finally feeling like I have time to write and that the writing gods have been in my favor. This was a fun little one-shot to write. While I'm still trying to get back into my writing groove, this one shot definitely helped get some of the dust off my creative writing brain. So, thank you @my-dear-sweet-melody for requesting this one. I hope you enjoy it!
You werenât sure how youâd been doing it: managing the day-to-day lives of two people who also happened to be good friends of yours, assisting Sherlock with cases, seeing things youâd never thought youâd see in your lifetime (both good and bad), juggling relationships, your own well-being and health, and time to relax. Although it seemed like you had less and less time to do the things concerning yourself. You knew it wasnât healthy, but when you were thrust into the world of Sherlock Holmes, more important things came into play.
Sherlock was the first to notice how the stress was weighing on you. It was a total shock when he casually announced your current state to John. The moment the words of concern were uttered from Sherlockâs lips, the puzzle in Johnâs mind had been completed. With the help of Mrs. Hudson, the two men began to conspire to make life easier for their dear friend.
At first, Sherlockâs conscious decision to wash his dishes and put them away in the correct cabinets struck you as odd. Sherlockâs mind was usually too busy for such arbitrary tasks, and such magnificent brain power couldnât be wasted on such a thing. Then came the tidiness of his experiments. You could swear you hadnât seen a stray finger or eyeball dissolving in vinegar for quite some time.
When you had asked Sherlock about his new behavior, he shrugged it off with some wildly strange research idea he had come up with. You tried to follow along, but your brain began to hurt after a moment, so you opted to believe him instead.
Meanwhile, John took extra care to charge his and Sherlockâs devices. He knew no matter how brilliant Sherlock was, the man seemingly ceased to forget that computers, phones, and the lot needed to be charged via a charging cord and port. On the other hand, Mrs. Hudson made the note to prepare extra tea and biscuits to save yourself the trouble of doing that for Sherlock and John.
Now, you felt no need to question John and Mrs.Hudsonâs new behavior. It was in character for them to do small things like that. However, you continued to question Sherlock; he grew tired of it. Why couldnât you see that he cared for you, too? That maybe he cared a bit more for you than he should. He was growing weary of the excuses he made to your insistent questions when all he wanted to do was throw them up and tell you the truth. Truthfully, the truth was something he insisted upon. Sherlock always found it one way or another. Yet, he could only fib when you had a new query about his altered behavior. Was it hard for you to understand that Sherlock could care? That he, too, could be human?
âSherlock,â you called as you sat on the couch, pouring over the current case. It was usually your job to organize each thing into its Sherlockian category to save Sherlock his brain power. However, when you opened the file, it had already been done. âDid I happen to organize this in my sleep?â You raised the file and peered at him. Sherlock felt his mind conjure up the latest lie. Just before it left his mouth, he paused. He got up and marched to the window, where he began to gaze out onto the street below. He couldnât lie anymore. He had to tell you the truth.
âI organized it,â Sherlock said.
You froze. Something was seriously wrong with the man if he was now organizing his own cases. âSherlock, you never orgaââ
âWhy canât I?â Sherlockâs voice grew tense. His eyes clenched shut, all while his back was still towards you. He wouldnât dare look at you. He knew if he saw your eyes, heâd crumble and tell you everything, but everything was what you needed to hear. Everything was what he needed to say.
âI never said you couldnât. Itâs just,â you faltered, ââŠstrange.â
Within a moment, Sherlock whirled around. His icy blue eyes began to thaw under your gaze. âI observed you have stressed: Your trousers falling to your hips instead of hanging snuggly on your waist, the dark circles under your eyes that only grew prominent by the day, the growing urge to sleep instead of join Mrs. Hudson for the weekly watch party of the latest soap opera,â Sherlock shut his mouth. He had said too much already; he shouldnât say more, but his lips moved again. âI wasnât the only one who noticed, John and Mrs. Hudson, too. We devised a plan to lessen the blow of ourâmy constant mess.â
As Sherlock spoke, you realized his words were only the truth. You had noticed you suddenly had more time to eat a meal, spend time with your favorite landlady, who was more like a mother, go on walks in the park with John, listen to Sherlock compose his latest piece, sleep, and live life as it should be lived. Amidst Sherlockâs rambling, you whispered, âWhy?â
âBecause weâbecause I care you for,â Sherlock choked.
Slowly, you remove yourself from the comfort of the couch cushions and find a place in front of Sherlock. You watch as Sherlock shudders from the touch of your hand on his cheek. âThank you,â you said as a smile grew. âThank you for caring when I forgot to take care of myself. AlthoughâŠâ
Sherlock frowned.
ââŠwhile I appreciate the sentiment of you organizing your own cases, John charging the computers, and Mrs. Hudson always preparing tea, Iâd still like to be able to do my job. After all, the great Sherlock Holmes still needs to use his brain power to solve cases and save the day.â
Sherlock could only smile at that response for he'd give you anything you'd ask. "Of course. Of course, Y/N."

Let's analyse one of my favourite scenes: the "almost kiss" scene. There are many posts about it, so I would like to summarise it in one post:
Holmes came dangerously close to Watson while talking about the most important case in his career. First, there wasn't any reason for coming close, so it means that he just wanted to be close to Watson. And what was Watson's response? He didn't lean away, instead he turned his head towards Holmes with that "not friendly" look in his eyes. Watson and Holmes were sharing a strangely long eye contact, but then John lowered his eyes and looked at Holmes' lips with that same strange look. John's eyes show everything he wanted in that moment: he was looking at Holmes' lips with desire and longing as if he wanted to kiss him for so long. And now let's look at Holmes- he didn't lean away and was standing in that obviously uncomfortable position for a long time(until Mrs.Hudson ruined that moment), and it means that he was waiting for Watson to kiss him(I think he already knew that he will do it, because he was staring at Watson's eyes and obviously saw him looking at his lips). Why didn't he do it himself? Because he didn't want to startle John or get rejected, so he wanted Watson to do it himself.
Conclusion: if Mrs.Hudson had come a little late, she would have seen them kissing...

Yeah I don't really know what this is- it just happened. Enjoy?? Hopefully?
__
The realisation had crept up on Sherlock one uncharacteristically sunny autumn afternoon in Baker Street. It had been a slow day, Lestrade yet to come bursting through the doors with a new case for them. John, having finished posting all their latest adventures on his blog, had been sat reading the book he'd been meaning to finish for well over a month at that point. Sherlock, meanwhile, was lounging on the sofa as per usual, one of his favourite books on beekeeping in his hands.
It was when he'd gotten up to get a glass of water that he'd stopped in his tracks, eyes widening minutely before they turned to his hands. He'd gone to get a glass of water for himself, yet here he was, standing barefoot in their kitchen, with two glasses in his hands.
With a sharp intake of breath, Sherlock marched over to John's seat, soundlessly offered him the glass, gave a curt nod in response to John's absentminded "thank you", and returned to the sofa; only this time he was faced away from John.
It had just now occurred to Sherlock that John Watson was indeed his favourite person. Yes, he loved Mrs.Hudson and (reluctantly) Mycroft and Lestrade and his Mummy and Daddy, but if he had to pick his absolute favourite person, he'd simply have no choice but to pick John. The realisation was juvenile, and yet. It made Sherlock burn from the roots of his hair to the tips of his toes.
Ever since the day he'd had the realisation, Sherlock ensured he would make more of an effort to pay conscious attention to John's needs and desires, in order to make sure the good doctor would have no reason to consider leaving, for what would Sherlock do without his favourite person.
Which is why he felt like the stupidest man on the planet when he deduced John's niche interest in astronomy and cosmology. The signs had been right in front of him the whole time â the way John's lips would purse and a wistful longing would shadow his countenance every time someone brought up space; how when Sherlock had shown his utter disdain for learning the workings of the solar system, John had been more affronted than Sherlock had ever seen him; how when he'd moved in, he'd brought a decently sized collection of books on the subject â god, how could Sherlock have been so blind?
After having mentally berated himself, Sherlock set to work learning everything he possibly could about astronomy, just so that John could ramble on to Sherlock about the stars and the solar system and faraway galaxies and black holes; so John would stay.
And so, Sherlock set about learning astronomy and cosmology, first from John's own books, and then from various sources over the internet. Even when he'd had a particularly tough case to crack, he'd taken fifteen minutes each day to read up on astronomy, so as to not hinder his learning process.
By the end of the week, which gracefully had them solving only one case this time around, Sherlock had finished reading all of John's books and was currently working his way through some of NASA's many articles on various parts of the study that had fascinated him, and of course, what he'd picked up from John's books in the form of his little scribbles and highlights.
And really, he hadn't meant to reveal to John in any way what he was doing, at least not until the next time it was brought up in common conversation with someone they knew. In fact, Sherlock was planning on gifting John a short collection of scientific papers he'd found in the archives of Mycroft's vast library for Christmas if the topic wouldn't come up naturally.
His plans, however, came to a screeching halt when he'd left his laptop open on the coffee table while he went to the loo. When he returned, he found John scrolling through an article about black holes and the information paradox, resting his chin in his palm as he did so.
He paused, having been caught red-handed, clearly. John's eyes remained fixed on the screen as he slightly angled his head towards where Sherlock had entered the sitting room and asked, "Since when have you been interested in black holes and the such? Do we have a new case I don't know about?"
Sherlock paused, stood like a deer caught in headlights, unable to speak a word. John, having received no response, furrowed his brows and looked up at Sherlock, "Sherlock, is everything alright?"
Swallowing once and ducking his head, Sherlock embarrassedly went and sat on the seat adjacent to where John was sitting. He clasped his hands and held them between his knees as if he were a child waiting to be berated for something he'd done.
John's voice was softer now, "Sherlock you know you can tell me anything, but if you don't want to, I'm alright with that too."
Sherlock continued staring at his lap as he whispered, "I was reading for you."
"Pardon?"
Taking a breath, he looked John in the eye as he spoke again, "I was reading up on space for you. Not for a case."
John blinked in confusion â "For... me?"
Of course John thought it was odd Sherlock had done that, of course he did. This was clearly a mistake, Sherlock should never have considered doing this in the first place.
Becoming defensive, Sherlock snapped at him, "No, John, I clearly read all those books and articles because â oh."
He'd been cut off by something most unexpected. John had wrapped his arms around him and had half-nuzzled his face into his neck. "Thank you," John breathed.
Sherlock didn't reciprocate for the first minute or so, thinking John would let go, but when he gave no indication of doing so, Sherlock gingerly wrapped his arms around the smaller man as well, resting his head against John's as he did so, and something warm and pleasant settled in the pit of his belly at having his flatmate so close.
"Nobody's ever... nobody's ever really tried learning about something especially for me. They've never expressed interest in learning about the things I enjoyed learning about, so thank you."
John held on to Sherlock for a moment longer after he finished speaking and then he pulled away, leaving Sherlock feeling bereft.
John cleared his throat and returned to his previous seat, "So, what have you learnt so far? Anything that caught your fancy in particular?"
The smallest grin appeared on Sherlock's face, "You first Doctor Watson, what part of astronomy catches your particular interest?"
John smiled back and shut Sherlock's laptop as he settled in, "Well..."
And Sherlock found that though he doesn't particularly care for when people have to ramble, finding most of them to be dull and boring either way, he hardly minds when John rambles to him. In fact, he found he rather enjoys listening to John ramble.
And that was how the rest of the evening was spent, engaged in conversations about the cosmos and accompanied by an eventual Chinese takeout dinner.

Mrs.Hudson:
" Is this the ring for John ?"
Sherlock:
" Yes, I chose this one because it's blue like his eyes, silver like his...oh forget it...it's hideous...is it hideous Mrs. Hudson?"
Mrs. Hudson:
" Oh Sherlock, my silly boy.
The ring is beautiful and John will love it! Come here."

Hello long time follower forst time requester!! I have a request for a type of johnlock fic. Basically the premise is season 2 episode 1 where John and mrs.hudson are wondering about sherlocks sexuality and everyone even his brother and moriarty assume he's a Virgin but in reality he's a detective who went to college and had a sever drug addition. BUT homie for sure has traded sex for drugs and slept witg his drug dealer for drugs or a case. And John find outs and is curious/wants to see what sherlovks learned for himself lol? I read a fic like that years ago and I can't find it sadly but also would be open to some new johnlock fics where the lore is sherlock is equally experienced if not more and it's bc of his raunchy past.
Hey Lovely!
Ooooof okay this sounds vaguely familiar and I'm not sure if it's because I've read it or if it's because I've read a similar synopsis.
Hmmmm. Anyone able to help us out with either this fic or similar fics? I JUST realized I don't have a list either from me OR Community Recs for "experienced" Sherlock so I've made a note to compile some fics for the future! Any help y'all can give is beneficial!

Scotland Yard's catboy
Lestrade assumes John lives with a roommate. He does not assume that John is bonded to a brainiac detective who loves to solve puzzles and can solve cases and bake cookies faster than most people can talk.
Cute little Catboy! Sherlock fic. Very fluffy. Lestrade is John's friend.
âJohn, I need your help with this case. Mrs Hudson let me up... whoâre you?â Lestrade asked as he walked into the Baker Street apartment. He had met John Watson a few months ago and now occasionally came to him for opinions on cases over a beer or two. Heâd honestly call John his friend even though he didnât know too much about Johnâs past. He knew the short man had served as an army doctor and got wounded and lived with a roommate (he assumed it was a roommate since heâd never met the other person) in a rather nice flat. He had been to his flat once or twice. It had always been clean and tidy and there was always tea and biscuits and baked goods ready. He assumed Mrs.Hudson did all of that. But now seeing a tall slender pale figure covered in flour peeking around the corner, Lestrade thought again.Â
The figure stepped out and around. It was a man, no. The twitchy brown ears and curly swishing tail told a different story. A catboy. And a really rather large one.Â
Usually catboys and girls stood shorter, well almost as tall as John at most but this creature stood as tall if not an inch or so taller than Greg himself. He had a poofy and curly tail, rather oval shaped ears, and piercing blue eyes.Â
The cat smiled at him and dusted his hands off on the purple apron he had on.Â
âHello! You must be one of Johnâs friends! Whatâs your name?â A declawed hand stretched out towards Lestrade.Â
Lestrade was frozen. Why was there a catboy in Johnâs flat? Was he a maid?Â
Lestrade caught up and shook the strangely calloused hand. Catboys usually didnât look like this one. They were usually so much softer. They usually didnât have such large handsâŠÂ
âIâm Greg Lestrade. And you are...?â Lestrade looked up and down at the other. The catboy turned and motioned for Lestrade to follow him. Greg spotted a small paring knife in the aprons pocket.Â
âIâm Sherlock, itâs so nice to meet you. Take a seat! Johnâs to be home in a little while and you're more than welcome to stay here and wait if youâd like. Would you like some tea? A biscuit? I just finished baking some banana bread and itâll be cool in five more minutes.â Lestrade didnât answer because Sherlock was already fetching him a cup of tea and a plate of a few biscuits. Lestrade did appreciate the utter most politeness and welcoming. Maybe this was the roommate? No hybrids canât rent on their own. Maybe John co-signed?Â
Sherlock untied his apron and sat down in his chair with his own cup of tea. He curled his legs up under him and smiled a bit.Â
âThank you, Sherlock. So do you um do you live with John?â The inspector asked. He didnât want to over step but he wanted to know more. He took a bite of the biscuit and immediately tried to eat as much as he could while still being polite but lord these cookies are fucking delicious.Â
âOh yes, for eight years now. Weâre bonded and everything. My room is upstairs! Iâm usually up there.â Sherlock said nonchalantly. Lestrade was taken aback. Bonded? John was bonded? For eight years? Heâs never mentioned being bonded or even dating or living with anyone. Let alone a catboy. Hell he didnât even think John wore a ring but the detective never paid that much attention to Johnâs hands.Â
âReally? Johnâs just never mentioned you. Not to be rude or anything!â Greg said more to himself.Â
âYes I know. I donât like people being in my business unless I know theyâre nice. I mean I do not look like a regular catboy and cats are usually seen as dumb little things or bed decorations, in more than one way, and I am very much not a dumb little thing. I am definitely not a bed decoration. You are... you are nice. I can tell.â Sherlock whisked away the now empty cups and plate with quick elegance.Â
âOh⊠well youâre very polite and if youâre the one whoâs always sending snacks with John, you are one hell of a baker!â The detective said and laughed a bit. The slender man walked back in and smiled.Â
âYes, I make sure John always has something to eat. I do so hate a thin doctor. I quite enjoy baking. Iâm a scientist and baking is so similar but much more⊠rewarding.â Sherlock explained in his more relaxed, lower voice. He was getting used to this man. He didnât comment on Sherlockâs appearance or say anything...untoward. Though he did look at him in a slightly judging way but kept any comments to himself. Sherlock sat back down in his chair. He rather draped himself across it longways than sat. Â
âOh really? Is that why youâre always up in your room? Experiments and data logs?â Lestrade asks and looks at his watch. John should be here soon.Â
âOh yes, sir. All the time. John and I always shared a bed so my room upstairs is my lab. Iâve got a fridge and all my tools and my burners and everything. John dearest usually gets me cadaver parts for any occasion so I always have things to experiment and learn about. Right now Iâm doing a bit of an observation on molds.â Sherlock said excitedly. Once Lestrade was going to respond the front door opened.Â
âPrincess, Iâm back! I brought you new sprinkles and some pig eyes! Took me forever to leave that damned butcherâs shop. But I managed!â John called out as he shut the door and walked into the sitting area. He stopped short at the sight of the detective. Then he thumped his head with his palm.Â
âOh I forgot you were coming over! Iâm so sorry Greg! Princess I'm sorry I didnât call to warn you!â John said as he came over and kissed Sherlockâs forehead. The cat purred a bit and sat down properly in his chair with one of his long thin legs thrown over the other.Â
âItâs okay John. Your friend is okay. A bit large but heâs okay. I would have killed him already if he wasnât.â Sherlock finished by smiling at Greg. Greg rolled his eyes and laughed but when he got a stern face from John he looked back at the Cat.Â
âI know you would have. Always so hasty with the knife of yours.â John said as he walked into the kitchen to get a snack for the cat. Sherlock laid back in his chair.Â
He was all long pale gangly limbs and soft fluffy fur and gleaming blue eyes. Greg looked shocked for a moment before nodding a bit. There was a small bit of silence before the detective called out to the doctor.Â
âSo John, Iâve got this case and it is just so odd. Our medical examiner thinks this guy died from poisoning but he was just bleeding, everywhere. It was mad.â Greg said as he pulled a few small photos from his jacket pocket. The cat jumped up and came to look at the pictures but as soon as he was close Lestrade held the photos to his chest not letting the curious eyed cat see.Â
âNo, theyâre gorey. You wouldn't like it. It was pretty gross.â Greg said and Sherlock pouted and crossed his arms.Â
âI eat birds and do experiments on pig eyes. Let me see.â Sherlock said and made sure to lick his sharp needly incisors so that the detective could see them. John called from the kitchen where we had a fork in the still a bit hot banana bread.Â
âOh Greg, he is capable. Heâs smarter than the both of us combined. Princess, dear, give us your opinion.â John said and the detective returned over the photos into the slim plain palms.Â
Sherlock didnât flinch as he flicked through the photos and then he laughed. Greg looked frightened for a moment bit then the cat tossed the photos back into his lap and walked over to where John stood.Â
âPeople are so stupid sometimes, John. Utterly useless even.â Sherlock purred and hugged John from behind before sauntering his way back to Lestrade.Â
âThat wasnât poison. It was Scurvy. He was bleeding so much because he could no longer produce collagen which holds the bodyâs cells together, he couldnât make the glue. He died of blood loss due to the scurvy.â Sherlock said to the detective matter of factly. Then he turned back to John who was making his way back to the fridge and was fixing something.Â
âJohnnnnn that wasn't even fun. Your friend should bring me more. Oh like the Lobotomy and paint one! That was sooooo much fun!â Sherlock said and turned back to the detective who was sitting looking at him like he was crazy. That case was months ago⊠Had John told the cat about the case and Sherlock had helped⊠John had solved the case basically when they spoke again.Â
âYou help John with cases?â Greg asks dumbly. Sherlock nodded and John walked back into the sitting room with a bowl of something. Sherlock peaks over the rim of the bowl and his eyes grow big and round and his tail swishes happily.Â
âYeah, he likes crime and puzzles so usually at night Iâll tell him about your cases. Usually while I brush him or while he eats. Heâs very helpful. He usually figures everything out just by me telling him or photos.â John explained as he sat down in the chair that Sherlock previously did and the cat happily sat across his lap. Sherlock was purring and looking quite happy.Â
Ah so he was really just an oddball cat. Lestrade nodded. Definitely an oddball but smart. Fast. Brilliant.Â
âWell, Sherlock, maybe I should come around more often with cases. Weâve got a few cold cases that weâve given up on. Would that be something youâd like?â Lestrade said and watched John mix what looked like berries and yogurt in the bowl.Â
Sherlock gasped. He looked at Lestrade with an excited face.Â
âReally! Yes! Oh itâs Christmas! I want them all! Thank you!â Sherlock said and his ears were perked up and his tail wiggled excitedly and looked back at John.Â
âGreg, thatâs so kind of you. Iâm sure Sherl will appreciate it. He loves solving old cold cases on the tele. I think youâve made his year.â John said and pulled the spoon of yogurt up to Sherlock who happily ate it. John continued to feed Sherlock while him and Lestrade spoke.Â
A week or so later Greg showed up again at 221b Baker Street with an armful of nine cold case files. Sherlock squealed and promised Greg any baked goods he wanted. Sure enough a month later John met up with him with nine solved cases, eight dozen cookies, and a bouncing Sherlock begging for more cases. That was the day Sherlock Watson-Holmes became a rather loved part of Scotland Yard both for his amazing brain and orgasmic baking.

Hi I'm the anon from before that talked about my show (it's Lupin the third part 6) But for more context the Holmes in the show isn't actually the og Holmes (it's his grandson) but they still had the Holmes and Watson dynamic.
And Holmes still does have some sadness towards Watson's death. Like for example he puts a picture face down that has Watson on it and does retire (but he still works but on smaller cases like finding lost pets)
He also takes care of Lily (watson's daughter). They do have a nice uncle/niece bond going on and they do have some cute bonding moments here and there.
It's just little things. Like we never fully got a sad moment where he actually cried or tried to talk to Lily about Watson.
Hell it took him about 10 or so years for him to find the murderer. And in those years we never really got any confirmation he was even looking for the killer.
Instead he had to wait for Lupin. (The main character) to help him out. And they also did a pointless "OH DID LUPIN KILL WATSON" mystery. Which is revealed that even Sherlock knows that Lupin didn't kill watson... so there wasnât real point for that.
Another complaint I have is that Sherlockâs story was only told in 5 out of 24 episodes (technically 6 but even that doesnât play into the overarching plot) and there was ALOT OF FILLER EPISODES in between. That focuses on Lupin and his crew. And those extra episodes couldâve been used to develop Sherlock, Lily, Mrs.Hudson, HELL EVEN WATSON TOO.
We donât even really have a reason to care about Watson either. Other than the mystery of his death.
Thereâs still hope in the future for their development- like they did a bullshit Moriarty reveal. But now itâs just⊠a really rocky start.
(Btw Take this all with a grain of salt Iâm only saying what I remembered from the arc)
That makes a little more sense. I haven't seen this show so I can't say if the handling of Watson's death was too much or too little but I do think a Sherlock without a Watson would always feel a bit like there's a huge part of his life that's missing. You know how some people lose a limb and can still feel it sometimes? I imagine that's how Sherlock would feel about Watson. He'd have moments where turn sometimes as if to say something, half expecting Watson to be there and he isn't and for just a moment Sherlock is surprised by how hard the emptiness hits him.

I think I found the reason Holmes is rude with Mrs. Hudson. Mrs.Hudson intrudes the privacy of Holmes and Watson. First time we met her in Sherlock Holmes 1. Holmes was sitting on Watson's feet(quite close to him) and they had an akward moment when John mentioned his wedding, and a second later Mrs.Hudson came in. And when she did, Holmes was kinda mocking her, as if he was trying to drive her away and be with Watson in privacy again. Second time we saw Mrs.Hudson in GoS, and this was the most interesting moment. She came in right when Holmes and Watson were extremely close and were probably going to kiss (it was obvious from Watson's eyes and Holmes wasn't leaning away, as if expecting a kiss) And Holmes immediately moved further from Watson and then tried to drive Mrs.Hudson away again, by saying "Feed the snake, woman", but she didn't leave and said "You feed it". Then Holmes appeared behind her and said "Don't you have a goat that needs worming?"(he said it very angrily by the way) and she goes away and Holmes lookes at her until she leaves(as if making sure that she isn't looking) So I think Holmes just wants to be alone with Watson, so he tries his best to have privacy. But that's just my point of view and it may be wrong
But I am quite sure about the kiss moment:)

A cold rain had begun when Watson arrived at the hospital, he knew exactly where he was headed, to the chief surgeon's office. Dr. Tristan Hamstead had also been in the army in India, which was how they had met many years ago. In the past five years he had become the chief surgeon at the London Hospital and he and Watson kept in touch through being members of the same clubs. So it was without hesitation that Watson strode through the maze of hallways and past rooms to knock on the door of the office of Chief surgeon Hamstead.
âCome in.âÂ
Watson took off his hat as he entered the room, lamps were lit on the desk as well as a fire burning in a small stove in the corner where a pot of coffee was boiling.Â
âHam?â Watson asked.Â
The man had his head down and was writing intently, when he heard that he looked up and smiled.
âJohn! It's good to see you! What brings you to the hospital?â Hamstead asked. He was taller than Watson and had chestnut brown hair with a neat mustache and light brown eyes.
âIt's good to see you too, Ham. Well, I have come to see if you have a surgeon here by the name of Dr. Burkes?â Watson asked. He took the seat that Hamstead motioned him into.
âDo you mean Dr. Kelly Burkes? He is practicing here, yes. A brilliant man, everyone admires him, myself included. Do you know him?â Hamstead asked. He lit a cigarette and sat back in his chair to relax.
Watson found that interesting and upon hearing it made the decision not to reveal the full truth of why he was asking.
âNo I don't. But I have heard of his surgical skill and I wanted to be able to meet him while he is here,â he said.
âHe isn't in today but I would be more than happy to give you an introduction tomorrow. You must have read about him in the Edinburgh medical journal if you know of his surgical skill,â Hamstead said, smoke trailed from his mouth.
âOh yes, yes I did. I would appreciate the introduction, Ham, thank you,â Watson said.Â
âOf course. We could do it right now but as I said, he is out meeting with a patient so tomorrow is the best I can do,â Hamstead said.
Watson's eyebrows went up at the mention of a patient but again he kept his thoughts silent.
âWell, I will see you tomorrow then and let you get back to work,â he said, standing.
Hamstead stood too and shook his hand. âSee you then, old chap,â he bid.
Watson nodded and headed back through the hospital and out onto the street to wait for a cab to come by. The rain was fast turning to sleet, he pulled his coat tighter around him and walked a piece down the sidewalk when a cab didn't manifest right away. As he walked he thought about what his friend had said, about Burke being admired throughout the hospital, that had to mean that he possessed a great charm and cunning.Â
âHolmes could be right, this might be a great foe indeed.âÂ
Finally a cab came by and he took it straight to Baker Street, upon entering he found Mrs.Hudson coming down the stairs looking pleased to see him.
âHow is he?â Watson asked, removing his wet coat and hat right away.
âHe has been asking for you, I'm afraid I couldn't lie to him for long. He didn't eat very much either, doctor,â Mrs. Hudson informed.Â
âWell thank you for trying, Mrs. Hudson. I'll go up and talk to him,â Watson said.Â
He climbed the stairs and went into the sitting room and then on into his friend's bedroom. Holmes was sitting up in bed and smoking his pipe, when he saw Watson come in his eyes lit up but he didn't move.
âWatson! You have been at the hospital and you didn't even tell me you were leaving!â Holmes said.Â
âThat's because I wanted you to rest. Besides, you indicated that you wanted me to go anyway,â Watson said. He sat down on the side of the bed and felt Holmes' head.
âWell? What did you find out?â Holmes asked, impatient.Â
âOh Holmes, you're fevered,â Watson discovered. He got up and went over to the bowl and pitcher to pour some water, he then rolled his sleeves up in order to dip a cloth for his friend's head.
âYes, yes! The hospital, what did you learn?â Holmes demanded, waving his hand around annoyed.
Watson gave a silent sigh and returned to the bed with the cloth. âNot much. My friend Ham is the chief surgeon, he said that this Burkes is working out of there and everyone seems to like him quite well. Ham included, â he informed.
Sherlock put a finger up to his lips as he thought. âThat doesn't surprise me, he would have to have a certain charm to talk people into his surgeries, get them to spend so much money. What else did he say? How long has he been here? Does he have a family? Any close confidants in the hospital?â He asked.
âWell, I'm afraid I didn't ask-â
âDidn't ask?! What did you do then? Just chat with your old army friend and have a smoke?â Holmes exploded at him, face turning foul.
Watson was all too familiar with these outbursts, his mouth settled into a frown and he stood up.
âI have an introduction with Dr. Burkes tomorrow. I will be sure to ask all those questions then,â he said. With that he turned on heel and left the room.
Once in the sitting room he took up residence at the desk and began writing in his latest book about the case they had just started. It was always therapeutic for him to write about these things, more than he realized at the time, that he had learned from keeping journals while he was in the service. He sat for most an hour as he wrote, lighting a pipe, he delighted in the smells of ink and tobacco.Â
âWatson?!â
Watson laid his pen down, noting that the cry sounded rather urgent, he got up and went to Holmes room immediately. He saw that the man had an arm over his face and his bed covers were twisted and displaced.
âOh Watson, I think my fever is worse!â He exclaimed.Â
âHere now, let me see,â Watson said.
He leaned down over him, prompting him to move his arm, when he did Holmes took out the doctor's pipe and gave him the smoothest of kisses. Watson was shocked at first but soon that melted away and he closed his eyes, only opening them when he felt Holmes place the pipe back between his teeth.
âI do apologize for earlier, doctor,â Holmes said quietly.
Watson couldn't stop himself from smiling, taking his customary seat on the bed. âYou know me too well, Holmes. All is forgiven,â he said, equally as quiet.
They sat there silent for a few moments, Holmes holding his hand out and Watson taking it. The detective pushing worry of what tomorrow might bring out of his mind for the time being.

this is so funny to me bc back in the victorian era mrs.hudson and sherlock were the popular ship.
BUT!! mariana is a well adjusted adult we dont know if shes older or younger than the boys but shes had a job before within an office setting. she is the most professional of the three of them. sherlock hasnt had a what society deems a "regular job" from what ive heard (im like a month behind đđ) john was in a very structured work environment that encapsulated his entire life, so
m like it or not marianna is an important character as the op said, and one cannot complain abt how its diverging from acd canon because bbc sh didn't keep to faithful to the source material. I dont even think gatis and moffat truly studied the character bc of his lack of empathy for victims and just how involved he was at the yard. which is fine but its sets an expectation for other sh adaptations.
anyway 14 yr old me was robbed of a kind and thoughtful man who helped me realize a huge part of my identity(autism) and not the i was a fucking sociopath :)
I feel like a lot of people ignore Mariana's role in Sherlock and Co. I understand that the bond between Sherlock and Watson is a heavy focus in the original acd books, but Sherlock and Co is it's own thing. Mrs Hudson may not have played a large role in the books, but in Sherlock and Co she is one of the main characters. Ignoring her prominent role in their dynamic just so you can focus on Watson and Sherlock's dynamic is strange. You can still talk about their dynamic without ignoring one of the main characters. In Sherlock and Co I have always seen them all three as being like a family. Regardless of how you percieve their relationship, you cannot ignore the fact that Marianna is important to both of them. People shit on those who ship John and Mariana bc it "gets in the way of sherlock and watson" but that is such a stupid reason to hate a character. People can ship Watson with whoever they want. It isn't hurting anyone to have people ship him with Mariana.
Watson has a very lovely dymamic with both Sherlock and Mariana. I've seen people genuinely angry to see the podcast focus on Mariana and Watson for even a second. Sherlock and Watson have also had many one on one interactions. They've had a lot of focus on their dynamic and how it is built throughout the podcast. People being mad that Mariana also gets those growth opportunities despite her also being a main character is WILD. A man and woman can be platonic friends without being a threat to the "main ship" This reminds me of what happened to Mary in bbc sherlock. While I agree that Mary is a poorly written character, people give her way too much hate. Hating a character is fine, but hating a character just because she "gets in the way" of your ship is dumb. I don't like Mary in bbc sherlock. I think her being a spy was weird. Her death was only there to kickstart sherlock and watson's discord and I think that is a stupid reason to kill off a main character. It had no proper impact to the story and she only existed to contrast with Sherlock. Those are valid reason to hate her, but I don't just ignore her existance. She was still a part of the bbc sherlock canon regardless of how buchered her implimentation was. Mariana is a fun character and a lovely addition to sherlock and co. She has been given the same if not less focus than Sherlock and people still rarely include her in fan content. Yes Sherlock and Watson have a very interesting dynamic but I'd love to see more love for Marianna. She is a part of their family. Regarldess of if you see the dynamics between characters as romantic or platonic Marianna is still an important person to both Sherlock and Watson and I would love to see more of her. She is like the "straight man" of their dynamic. She handles the business aspect of their organization. She canonically eats with them at 221b very often. So much so that she doesn't even have a dining table in her flat. I love seeing different interpretations of her design. She is such a fun character and her personality flows very nicely with the others. Tldr I want to see more love for Mariana, and people who hate her unjustly get on my nerves lol. You can ship two characters without ignoring or hating on the girl character.

Mrs. Hudson, Mycroft, Moriarty all here, yes
Mrs.Hudson is the only one I've really fleshed out so far tho??
Mrs. Hudson. Julia "Hudson" Howe. Screenname/Username "Hudders" John jokingly calls her "Mrs.Hudson" because her Screenname sounds like "An old granny name" according to him. She's younger than both John and Sherlock and works in computer science! She's Johns video editor and stream mod and overall internet consult. No super hacker or anything like that but she knows computers and Internet guidelines better than anyone and can advise them on what needs to be cut and avoided, what they should look for while on cases, things like that
