We did it! We have made history. I am the very first plus size woman to take home the prestigious title of Ms Great Britain. Not only am I flying the flag for representation of all bodies, shapes, sizes and abilities but also for people of colour and women of Asian descent in leadership roles. I have joined a very small contingent of women of colour who have held a Miss Great Britain title. Only one black woman has ever held this title, Anita St. Rose back in 1996. I make the 2nd woman of Asian descent to hold the title after Preeti Desai was appointed as Miss Great Britain back in 2006. Thank you @saffy67 for the facts. This level of representation may be a small step but it helps to pave the way for greater inclusion and diversity within both the media and the pageant community in the years to come. I am honoured to be the voice for the unsung. I will never stop pushing for equality and true integration for all within society today. This shift-change is a powerful step forward. It allows for more people to feel seen, heard, understood and worthy in a world where there is so much pressure to be something else to be successful. Some may call this placement "tokenism" but everything has to start with baby steps and I am proud to be one of those stepping stones if we can break the mould going forward. I hope that people see me and look past my skintone, my size, my weight and see my heart, my dedication and resilience to fight for what is right. All I ask is that people take some inspiration from the fact that despite adversity I have overcome so much and I am still standing. If I can do this then I truly believe that you can too. There is more than enough space at this table for us all to rise and when I rise, we all rise together.
