     “Maybe I’m not TRYING to be happy! Ever think’a that, Sherlock?” His voice must be loud, judging from the way his brother seems to wince in reaction, but he can barely hear it over the relentless thunder in his ears— blood vessels roaring to the deafening beat of his shattered heart. 

     He’d been doing so well until Diego walked in— chugging his way to a nice little blackout (the perfect cap to a wonderfully cathartic little breakdown). With any luck, he’ll wake up tomorrow with a headache bad enough to make him forget about all this pesky grief business. Who needs to cry over losing the love of your life when you’re fucked out of your mind or spilling your guts into a toilet bowl!

     “Christ, no wonder you got kicked outta detective school.” He snorts into the lip of his near-empty bottle before throwing his head back with utter abandon to let the last drops burn a trail down his throat. “You’re, like, really bad at...detectin’ stuff.”

Five tried his hardest to not roll his eyes, and all it did was end up with him sighing heavily and looking straight up at the ceiling. What for? He wasn’t praying, he had no faith in a higher power. He was half rolling his eyes. He swears if this a remnant of the whole JFK fiasco he was going to stab his brother with one of JFKs promotional pins for his campaign. “Good thing nothing is hinging on your opinion this time.”

Klaus’s accidentally graceful stilt-legs are draped along the coffee table as he watches the latest Disney Plus releases on the flatscreen.  The ankle of one bare foot jiggles with incessant restless energy. 

“C’mere!!!! There’s a really stupid lookin’ sabre-toothed tiger with yer name in this crappy old movie! It totally broods an’ everything! Haha, what the fuck, it’s tryna kill a baby!”

Does she have a plan? Not exactly. She’s not the stealthy type, though she can be if she needs to be. Kassandra rather go in, axe or sword at the ready, but she knows when to be stealthy and this is the time to be stealthy. There’s too many of them. “We pick them off one by one, quietly, and if we get caught we fight until there’s only us left standing.”

WELL  HE’S  NOT  WRONG,  BUT  ALSO  IT  WASN’T  ALL  HIS  FAULT.  not  everyone  got  an  equal  start  in  life,  and  some  --  like  the  two  of  them,  had  an  every  rougher  go  at  it  growing  up.
