hugely interested in bugs and taxidermy

he likes to laugh at really shitty taxidermy

he goes out of his way to look under rocks for bugs and pick them up

he shows bugs to scout and scout calls him gross. he does this purely to rouse scouts reaction bc he thinks its funny

when he wants someone to actually be joyous about his bug friends he shows pyro the gross ones and a drunk demoman the beautiful ones

he is morbidly interested in the stages of decomposition in animals and humans. on the barren roads around new mexico if he sees roadkill hes been guilty of pulling over just to inspect the damage

on this same note, he will slam the breaks if he sees a squirrel in the street

gods strongest scab picker. medic always slaps his hands if he catches sniper picking at scabs

i only say morning bc if it was a good morning id be fishing (he kinda likes fishing actually)

hes not great at carving wood but he tries his best and makes something thats pretty OK!

hes not scared to pick up a snake in the slightest

bro has not cleaned under his nails in a month and a half

he has a styrofoam cup full of dirt and worms he uses for fishing and its been there a minute and you can tell

unsuprisingly his van isnt fucking spotless

he has a lot of animal skulls around his van as trophies and keeps a few on his dashboard with the bobblehead and a mug

his dashboard is dusty as fuck and covered in trinkets

not horribly overwhelmed by smells because his nose is stuffy like all the time

one time he had scouts dog tags hanging from his rearview mirror for like 2 weeks because scout left them there

all of his clothing is over 10 years old and falling apart but he refuses to spend money on new clothes

he brushes his teeth twice a week and his toothbrush is nearly flattened

hes NOT a van of mint much if at all so he uses other types of toothpaste

majority of the trinkets on his dashboard are stolen junk the other mercs dropped that he picked up and never gave back like a magpie grabbing someones credit card

one of scout or soldiers kids was THE first baby he EVER held

hes shockingly good with animals and animals are shockingly chill with him despite it all

were he to exist in modern day he and scout would watch bluey together unironically

if the gangs out and about sniper will keep harry the cat in the van which leads to a lot of him awkwardly yelling at the fucker not to drink coffee

he has lost many good mugs to harry the cat or the other mercs, so scout made him a mug and it was so dogshit it couldnt hold liquid but every time scout came over sniper would use it and willingly spill steaming coffee all over the camper

one time he soldier and scout went on a fishing trip and he watched scout lose a fight with a fish and he brings it up entirely too often

sometimes in the middle of the night he hears something climb on top of his campervan and its always pyro doing some weird shit

most people he meets assume hes upwards of 32 but whenever he hits em with the “im 28” theyre stunned. he thinks its pretty funny but is also insecure about his appearance due to it all. part of why he is the way he is

he sucks at deciding what tone to use so a lot of the times its completely off somehow

the only “person” he goes out of his way to “start conversations” with is harry the fucking cat. he talks to that cat all the fucking time

when hes alone in his van or snipers nest he whispers little shitty jokes to himself and phrases only he finds funny to keep himself entertained. he usually gets into this habit for 5 minutes then straightens his back because he does not want a spy to know he does that

his van is kinda just “oh you can throw that anywhere” you know. his bed is covered in trinkets so theyre easy to grab. autistic nesting behavior

the passenger seat of his van is also full of stuff

his glovebox is spilling out napkins from every establishment under the sun

thats a gay man. thats a demisexual gay man

all of his miscellaneous skills and interests like fishing, bugs, hunting, taxidermy, woodcarving, amateur butchery, orthinology, very minimal mechanics, camping, survivalist stuff, perfectly average cooking, and everything is total compensation for not knowing how to talk to people at all

nobody liked him as a kid so he developed a billion hobbies to keep himself occupied without having to talk to people. he doesnt understand other people

It'd been a good day. For one moment, the day had been good. And now.....

'Breathe Northwest, you gotta breathe here!'

The thought hissed frantic in her head, but she ignored it. Instead, staring at the crimson color that was now staining her skinned knee and palms. The scent of copper overwhelming her to the point it where it made her head swim.

'Hands stained red, can't ever get it off, it never comes off.'

Pacifica felt her throat constrict as her breathing began to quicken. Chest tight and bound, her hands trembling as she just stared at all the blood. There was so much of it, too much of it. Always staining never going away, never coming off she just wants it off-

"Pacifica! Hey Pacifica, snap out of it! Please!"

A voice muffled cried out in the spiraling panic she was now falling into. Not completely registering who it belonged to. Instead trying to focus on trying to breathe and God she couldn't breathe please someone help-

"GRUNCLE STAN! GRUNCLE FORD! FIDDLEFORD! SOMEONE HELP SOMETHING'S WRONG WITH PACIFICA!"

The voice panicked and murky shouted out. The blonde barely processed it, instead wheezing and feeling sick. The sounds of footsteps rushing in, before another presence was by her. Warm, cautious hands gently taking her hurt ones. Pacifica let out a distressed sound only for a gruff soft voice to shush her quietly. Putting her at ease somewhat.

"Pumpkin I need you to go get the first aid kit from Poidexter or Fidds. Can you do that for me?"

The rough voice asked earning a noise of agreement before the source of it went rushing away. Pacifica trembled and again the voice spoke but this time at her.

"Hey, hey kid it's okay. You're gonna be okay. I need you to look at me."

It said, waiting for the girl to respond. After a bit of a struggle, the blonde finally looked away from her bloody hands, sucking in a harsh breath that made her head hurt, and chest give a funny stutter of sorts. Unseeing eyes made contact with a larger form that consisted of colors and shapes. But for some strange reason, they brought her comfort.

"That's it. You're doing great kid. Now, I need you to listen to me, follow my breathing. Don't focus on anything else. Now breathe in-"

The form said, taking in a deep breath to demonstrate. Paz tried to follow, her intake shuddering and making her nauseous.

"I-I can't-"

She started to say only for the comforting form to interrupt her, tone firm but tender.

"Yes you can sweetheart. Just focus on me, and take it easy. Now again."

After that, it was a bit of a blur for her. Hazy recollections of following the voice's breathing, hiccuping, and crying all the while until finally, the world began to refocus. Pacifica blinked, her surroundings finally making sense. The familiar back porch of the Mystery Shack greeted her, as well as the anxious form of Mabel and the concerned form of Ford. On the sofa sat an opened first aid kit, and it was then her knee and palms made themselves known by stinging dully. Confusion hit her as she realized that someone was gently rubbing her back. Eyes landing on the source, she was surprised to see none other than Mr. Mystery himself being the one doing it. Stanley noticed her gaze and seemed to relax a bit, offering her a cheeky smile.

"There she is, thought we lost there for a bit. How are you feeling? Can you stand up kid?"

Stan asked, seemingly indifferent. But his gaze held concern and understanding in them. As if he knew what kind of personal hell Paz had just gone through. The teen tried to speak but found she couldn't, her throat seemingly not working. Embarrassed, Paz shook her head no. Stanley didn't seem too surprised.

"Alright, up we go kid."

The older man said, picking her up unexpectedly. Paz immediately gripped his shirt, still shaken from earlier. Stan didn't comment on it, instead making his way up the old wooden stairs to join Mabel and Ford.

"Sweetie can you get the couch set up in the living room? I'm sure your pal is gonna need it."

Stan said, earning a hesitant nod from his niece. Mabel gave her friend one last worried look before heading inside. Pacifica didn't pay much attention, too exhausted from the events from earlier. Stan and Ford started to whisper amongst themselves, the two men seemingly discussing something before coming to an agreement. Ford held open the door for the two, and Stanley stepped inside into the kitchen. Where Fiddleford and Dipper were seated at the kitchen table, looking incredibly anxious and on edge. As soon as they noticed Pacifica, however, the tension they had seemed to fade away quickly. Dipper looked like he was about to start asking questions, but one look from Ford to Fiddleford made the two adults intervene. Taking Dipper into the living room with Mabel to set something up. Leaving Stan and Pacifica alone. A silence settled over them before the older man spoke up.

"I know you're probably embarrassed by what happened. But I'm just gonna tell you right now that no one cares about that. They care about whether you're okay or not. So don't think too much on it, alright?"

Pacifica took the words, processing them a bit. Before quietly nodding, not ready to talk yet. For Stanley, it was fine, he knew from experience how exhausting a panic attack could be, so he wasn't going to push it. Satisfied, he carried her out into the living room to join the others, where hopefully she could finally get some peace.

If you don’t mind me asking, how dose Gorebek work in your AU? At first I thought he was just the same as cannon but then I saw a cute drawings of a younger Torbek and what I assume was Gorebek hovering beside him seemingly trying to comfort him.

So is he Torbeks friend? his protector? His enemy? His friend, turned protector, turned enemy due to witchlight and oppressed trauma? What happened?

He DOES work like in canon... But I'm not gonna lie to you, Anon, the thing is mostly a Headcanon that I have and it can work even on this AU, both paths or for a Headcanon on the OG Verse lol

Can't remember where the hell I read it or if it's actually canon or what(?), but I read somewhere that Torbek was always capable of hearing The Other in his head, but I might be wrong??? So that's where the drawings come from.

And again, it can ALSO work on the OG Verse. It's just a HC of mine ig?? lol

Perhaps he was a protector long time ago?? Perhaps he got corrupted?? Or maybe he was always that way??? Perhaps he was born as a way to cope with his excruciating loneliness??? Perhaps he used to be nice??? Only having Torbek and Torbek only having him?? Perhaps he's his own person and just for some reason turned to become his enemy later on?? Perhaps it's all of the above??? Or not??? Jealousy?? Anger?? Abandonment?? Resentment?? How?? Why?? Torbek doesn't know. The Other doesn't seem to care to explain, at least not now, not anymore. Doesn't think it's worth his time.

secondly, thrawn <3 eli <3 ysalamiri <3 how do I think thrawn would react? with LOVE and ADORATION, how else! he would shower his new child in affection and attention — so much so that eli might end up feeling a little neglected, bless him...

like, I feel for the first few weeks, thrawn's gonna be talking about this thing like a first-time parent. people will be avoiding him left right and centre because you just know he's gonna show you a reel of photos and get in-depth about everything the creature's doing. eli might soon regret his decision... especially when he sees thrawn with the ysalamir 24/7, to the extent that they cannot even get a moment in private.

I also think eli would be content to give the ysalamir a simple, straightforward name (idk... sal the ysalamir or something...) but thrawn would proceed to spend days agonising over the Right Name. probably ends up choosing something strange, convoluted, and difficult to pronounce. possibly something that honours lysatran history, myths, etc. (eli is hesitant to approve).

nobody else will call the ysalamir by this name. eli's (simpler) suggestion would've already stuck for the crew of the chimaera.

also, it's canon that thrawn likes (fine, 'has use for') ysalamiri, so it isn't a super radical headcanon, but: reptile dad thrawn. he's the guy chilling on public transport with a snake round his neck. him and his reptilian children staring people down and being accidentally intimidating — that means a lot to me.

now, what I think would be funny is if eli was distinctly Not A Reptile Guy. can't stand their texture, can't stand their diets (like pinkie mice, cockroaches, etc.) whereas thrawn no qualms whatsoever. maybe eli was even raised to be wary of reptiles, growing up on lysatra (could be they have some equivalent to the cottonmouth in the southeast-ish US). he would still give thrawn the ysalamir because knowing it would make thrawn happy outweighs his personal ick about reptiles. honestly, maybe he's a bird person... but that's for a different ask.

all that to say: thrawn would be the most considerate parent to this ysalamir (to everyone else's detriment), and be very grateful to eli. unfortunately, this sets him on course to becoming Reptile Dad, while eli has to settle in as his reluctant, but supportive bf.

Hello, everyone. Just wanted to say in about two days there will be a celebration on the Leviathan, and it is open invite. Just bring a dish worth a reasonable amount of servings, don't cause trouble, and you are free to meander about the ship for the day.

It is a tri-monthly tradition of ours is to hold a feast, as an excuse to share wealth and intermingle on friendly terms. Haven't been able to host it as of late for, well... obvious reasons. However, I'll be picking it back up now that the Leviathan is up and running again.

Perhaps we can theme them on the four seasons you all are so fond of. This time will be 'fall' themed. I better see pumpkins.

I think that Pacifica might take after her parents quite a bit when she's older.

Despite being around people like Dipper and Mabel, Wendy, Soos, Ford and Stan. And basically being raised and mentored by Fiddleford, there are moments where those Northwest traits come out.

It's in the way she sometimes glares, gaze full of that firm, unyielding Northwest authority. She has her mother, Priscilla's looks and frown, but has her father, Preston's personality, and temper. In Pacifica's eyes, these are traits she wishes she never had. Because it's hard looking in the mirror and seeing her parents staring back at her.

I also like to hc that Pacifica also has Abigale's eyes and gaze. In the moments of intelligence and in the spark of curiosity for more knowledge. In the way her gaze turns hard as ice or the way she's determined to accomplish things.
