finished Strange the Dreamer. this is the only insta-love I can get behind. truly star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, soulmates shit. chemistry so electric it crackled. and THE WORLD. it's been a while since a fantasy world has so enthralled me, like I was there!!! the ending fills me with dread for the second book, but I have faith ms. Taylor.

Two things

1) I like that LoD books have their own unique tab section! This book has an ancestry tab while IDE has a bunch of lore tabs so you get an in depth explanation of how everything in that world operates so it varies by book necessity which eats

2) MC’s mom is literally Indian why do NONE of the sprites look like they’re even half Indian? Having half white MCs doesn’t mean you can negate your other ethnic half’s features you're not sneaky. That can be the case sometimes but that’s not typical right ???

I’ve expressed a lot of complex thoughts about Pynch on this blog lately. I’ve talked about how much I dislike their arc in The Dreamer Trilogy and MS’s unwillingness to let them communicate, and about how I’m still obsessed with them anyway and I think it boils down to this:

I actually do like some aspects of what The Dreamer Trilogy added to their dynamic. I actually love Ronan’s big reveal and the fact that he’s just a boy-shaped creature. I love Adam’s descent into lying about his past and realization that he will never be happy like that. I like that their communication is rocky, it feels true to their characters (though it absolutely should have been, you know, resolved).

Basically what I’m saying is, when I talk about TD3 Pynch being less than ideal I do NOT mean their complete story was contrived. I love cosmic horror Ronan. I do not think Ronan and Adam having different power levels is a bad thing, I think it’s awesome. I love their monsterfucker, insane freak4freak energy and I always will.
