For the @marauderswithpalestineproject project I branched out from my usual Wolfstar to write some good old fashioned Prongsfoot. Thank you to everyone who donated, and especially to my anonymous prompter (#104).

Anyway, here's a snip.

“Stop that Pads, you so are marriage material.” Peter, who seems to have inhaled the vibrant blue concoction in his glass, snorts liquid out his nose. Maybe that should offend him, it’s funny but it isn’t that funny “Oh c’mon Prongs,” Peter giggles. “I mean when’s the last time he held down a long-term fling? Kept the same bloke around for more than a week or two? He’s sort of a wreck- ow!” There’s the distinct thunk of something hard, James’ shoe probably, colliding with Peter’s shin under the table.  “He isn’t a wreck.” James argues. “Good Godric,” Sirius pipes up this time, throwing his hands up with an exasperated huff. “Can we finish our game and stop debating my marriage-ability? It’s getting offensive.” “Fine,” Remus swivels in his seat to face James. “Truth or dare?”

Be Patient with My Frozen Heart

It shouldn’t be so different now. He wanted those carefree moments back instead of this odd tenseness that haunted him. Only a few weeks ago, he would have hung on James’ every word like a lovesick fool. He’d been giddy at the mere thought of him getting to move in with James. Where had it all gone wrong? Now, when James asked what Regulus thought would be a good colour for the little figurines, all Regulus could focus on was how much James’ voice grated in his ears. He pushed it down with a smile and answered James’ question, hoping his annoyance couldn’t be heard in his voice. He was just tired from moving. Sure, it had been weeks, but it took time to get settled in. This off-kilter phase would pass, and they would go right back to how they usually were. It had to. Maybe Regulus should have known by now that denial never served him well. By some point, the illusion would break and shatter, its jagged shards hurting more than facing the truth ever would. It was early one Monday morning, it finally happened—the final straw on the camel’s back. Maybe Regulus could’ve blamed it on not sleeping well, how he lashed out at something that was seemingly only a minor inconvenience. Maybe it was bound to happen either way.

Defying Blood: The Untold Story of Remus Lupin and Sirius Black.

"But, when Remus paid more attention to it, he saw that it wasn’t Sirius’ name the one that stood out the most. Even if it was shining, it wasn’t as strong as the other one. Both names were joined together by a painted thread, which curved in a beautiful pattern around them, and Remus quickly understood it meant there was some kind of partner bond between them. The tapestry was signalling Sirius as consort rather than as Head. He felt beads of sweat trailing down his back, almost in slow motion, as he fixed his eyes on the other name. That one was bigger, shinier, and more intimidating. It was vibrating, Remus could tell as he approached the wall to trace the letters with his fingers, and when his skin made contact with the fabric, he felt it. The same tingling sensation as before, now covering his whole body.

Remus couldn’t breathe as he turned around to stare at the three cousins, and even Nym had a shocked expression on her rounded and toddlerish face.

“Well, Moons.” Sirius said, a beat later, as he stepped into his space with a smirk. “Should I bow or kneel before the new Lord of Black?”

For the prompt #171, in which the lovely prompter wanted Remus, who bonded to Sirius accidentally during a Full Moon, as Head of The House of Black with her partner as his consort creating some havoc.

A/N. It is being a delight writing it, as this fic is still on the works. You can expect several chapters a week until the end of the month of those two dealing with a war, horrcruxes, their duty as Lords and a family dynamics. I have experimented with its format, I hope you love the concept as much as I do.
