Angels of Death

pt. 2/2 pt. 1/2

Bond and Moneypenny are requested as bodyguard for her highness, the duchess of Sussex, Morgana Pendragon.

OR: Q and Bond are snarky and married, Eve has a crush and Morgana is fabulous

Bond was a good spy.

Despite what everyone seemed to think, he knew what he was doing most of the time and was always sure to take the best course of action. Well, from his perspective. He was a professional.

He was also currently sitting in M’s office grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

Mallory sighed. "Do you see any problems 007?."

"Not at all sir." Bond answered honestly, still smiling widely.

"Alright. I expect you ready in three hours maximum. Ask Q-branch to lend you one of the good cars. We don’t want to make a bad impression."

Right. A good impression with the royal family. The one he had sworn his life to. For King and Country, that was his vow. Bond snorted. Q bas going to love this.

Ten minutes later Bond was standing with Q and Eve at the far end of Q-branch, disappointed but not surprised with the standard com system as well as a palm coded Walther PPK. “And I thought you loved me dear Q. What do I have to do to make me an exploding pen, hm? Dinner? Some special favours?” he murmured in Q’s ear while putting in the com and securing the Walther in the shoulder holster.

“We’re married, James.” Q answered deadpan. He was reading the mission file while Eve enjoyed a cup of Q-branch's coffee. "It seems to be a standart body guarding mission. Keep the target safe and try not to get shot until absolutely inevitable. The one difference is that you're protecting royalty and that it’s our royalty."

Eve sipped on her coffee and sighed in delight, before taking a look at the mission parameters. "Why isn't MI5 handling this one?"

"Apparently all of their agents are busy right now. And James’ next mission is only in two months. Thats probably why they chose him."

"-Aaaand because I’m such a good agent."

"James, you almost laughed out loud in Mallory's office earlier. No one laughs in Mallory's office." commented Eve, rolling her eyes.

Q shuffled trough the papers. "Well, the target is a royal so you better be a good agent, or there's no pudding for a week. Mummy doesn't want that kind of drama." Q frowned, as if that was the only concern about a member of the royal family being shot.

"I'll take care." James assured him.

"Who’s Mummy?" Eve asked, clearly confused.

Q smiled. "I’ll introduce you some time, she’ll like you. So. The target’s name is Morgana Pendragon --"

Eve chocked on her coffee. After half a minute of spluttering she could finally manage words again. "Q, my platonical soulmate, did you just say James is going to protect the unknowing love of my life, Morgana Pendragon? And the assignment is today?"

"Yes. Now, if you’ll let me finish I’ll reorganise some stuff so Mallory sends you with James. The pining has to stop, you’re better than this."

Eve looked like she might want to say something, but didn’t.

"So. Morgana Pendragon, second in line to the throne. You will accompany her to the opening of a new hospital. You're supposed to be at the palace at 1400, so you've got almost three more hours. You’ll need passes, but I can organise those." Q overflew the rest of file but found nothing of interest. “Alright. You two better go get ready. I'll talk to M. Be back in two hours and I'll issue you one of the fancy cars. I bet Mallory wants us to make a good impression.”

Q gave them the Aston. Bond hummed “You are my sunshine” while Eve, wearing matching black dress pants and blazer, put her own Walther in the shoulder holster.

“I didn’t know there was a Walther registered to my name and palmprint...” She mused, when Q handed it to her together with a com system.

“There isn’t.” He smiled ever so slightly. “At least as far as the database is concerned.”

She grinned. “This is why we’re friends Q.” She put in her com and shrugged on the blazer.

“Really? I thought it was because I made you those.” He said pointing down at her shoes. They were red lacquer high heels. Chic. And had knives hidden inside them.

She put her head to one side. “I mean, you’re not wrong. I also value your ability to take no shit.”

Q laughed.

Bond, who was wearing a blue grey Tom Ford suit - his second favourite, Q realised - was finally done with his inspection of the Aston Martin. “Moneypenny, are you done flirting with the Quartermaster?”

Eve only rolled her eyes. “No wonder it took us so long to figure out you were married. Look at that idiot.”

Q shrugged. “Well, I hate to say this, but we literally exchanged rings in the middle of Q-branch. Thats not what I call ‘figuring it out’, especially if you take into account that we weren’t even hiding anything. We thought you knew.”

“We’re flirting all the time.” Bond chimed in.

Eve rolled her eyes. “What you call flirting, is beyond normal understanding.”

Bond grinned. “You hurt me Moneypenny.”

“You do realise you only twenty minutes left to get to the palace.” Q stated absentmindedly while fastening freshly printed ID’s to ribbons. “And don’t forget these.”

Within the minute the Aston was on the road.

The butler had asked them to wait. After Eve had spent the entire drive gushing anxiously - a behaviour highly unusual for her - about the possibility of being late, they were now waiting. At least the palace was warmer than the Aston, who didn’t get much warmer than the usual Q-brach temperature of 18°C during their short drive through the cold December air.

Maybe the duchess was a busier person than they’d thought. Maybe she was just fashionably late.

Bond was standing in the middle of the room like he owned the place, Eve to his right. The entire room was decorated in golds and reds - the traditional pendragon colours. Since there was only a couch and a coffee table it was safe to assume the room was meant for greeting guests, which seemed like a spectacular waste of space, but such were the perks of royalty.

After nine minutes of waiting the door at the far end of the room finally opened.

Morgana Pendragon was taller than Bond. That was the first thing he noticed. Then Eve went stiff beside him and he decided it would be better if he did the talking.

Q seemed to have the same idea. “Bond you're in charge. Eve, you can flirt later in the car.”

Bond took a step forward and extended his hand in greeting. “Your majesty.”

Morgana took it. Her handshake was surprisingly firm. “Please, Morgana or Ms. Pendragon, if you must.”

Bond smiled amicably. “Commander Bond.”

“Commander?” Morgana lifted a perfectly shaped eyebrow.

“Formerly of the Royal Navy.”

“And now?”

“MI6.”

Morgana’s eyes sparkled as she smiled. “Really, how intriguing. My Brother-in-Law works there too.”

Q chuckled over com. “Really now. Well, you should get going the event is going to start in less than an hour and you have to drive slowly because of temperature.”

Bond and Eve took simultaneously a step backwards and Bond gestured towards the door they had entered trough. “Shall we?”

Bond took the drivers seat and hummed “you are my sunshine” under his breath, leaving Eve and Morgana to converse on the backseat, Morgana on the right as was traditional.

“So. “ said Morgana after closing her seatbelt. “I don’t think we’ve been introduced.”

Eve smiled tensely and shook. Morgan's extended hand. “Eve Moneypenny.”

“Are you also from the military Ms. Moneypenny? Or may I call you Eve.”

“Eve is fine. I was made Lieutenant before I was recruited for MI6.”

“And now you’re a bodyguard?” asked Morgana.

Eve smirked. “Now I’m a secretary.”

Morgana sat up straighter, etiquette shrugged off like a silken nightgown. “Are you saying that you were promoted to lieutenant and now you have to keep track of a rich old mans schedule?” There was something fierce in her eyes.

Eve smiled slightly. “You could say that, yes.”

Bond looked at them via rearview. “Moneypenny, stop leaving out all the juicy details! You make it sound as if everyone at six was a racist, mysogynistic pig.” He paused for a second. “Though there is that one guy in Accounting...”

Morgana relaxed against her seat. “Commander Bond, you read my mind. For a second there I thought I'd have to address the secret service over dinner tonight.” She sighed. “Now, do tell. What did Commander Bond mean?”

“After I was recruited for MI6 I was a field agent for a while. I was decent-”

Bond coughed.

“-and I was offered a position in the double-oh program, but I declined. Shortly after, I was sent to assist Bond - sorry - Commander Bond on a mission in Istanbul, and I was put in a... difficult position. Now I work as M’s Secretary.”

“Except that ‘Secretary’ doesn’t really cut it. We have a bet going: How will Moneypenny become the next M.”

“How come you never told me that!”

“Must have slipped my mind.”

“Are you betting too?”

Bond shot her puppy dog eyes in the rearview. “Moneypants, I would never-”

Eve sighed exasperated. “So you do.”

Bond started humming again.

Morgana had watched the interaction with great interest. “Alright, cut the fancy talk. I have some questions. First: Does he go by ‘Commander’ or ‘Bond’?”

Eve glared at James trough the rearview. “Everyone calls him Bond, even though he was a commander in the navy and honourably discharged.”

Bond pouted. “Ouch Moneypenny, thats cruel. I was just getting used to the respectful tone!” Then he grinned again. James Bond couldn’t be sad for long when in his favourite car.

Morgana exhaled loudly. “Oh Thank god. Commander Bond is way too long of a name, just so you know. Now. Did Bond just say the minions made a bet about you?”

“Sadly.” Eve sighed. I don’t know when the Minions started with that, but it must have been after Skyfall. Boothroyd wouldn’t have allowed anything of the sort.”

Morgana blinked. “Whoa, wait a minute Loads of information. Minions?”

Eve smiled warmly. “The R&D department of MI6 is called Q-branch, after their commander, The quartermaster. Bond wanted to annoy the quartermaster, so he started calling the subordinated minions. At first he was - excuse my language - pissed, but the term grew on him, and the minions themselves love it.” Eve’s smile turned into a smirk and she eyed Bond. “They also have a bet going about when the agents are gonna cost Q his last nerve so he’ll turn into a supervillain.”

Bond took a sharp right turn and slowly drove across the frozen parking space in front of the newly built Hospital, stopping in front of the main entrance. Eve and Bond got out and went to Morgana's door. Eve opened it and Bond led Morgana to the glass doors which opened automatically. Eve pushed the back door shut.

Bonds head twirled around. “Why do you hate me Moneypants!”

“Stop with the drama, it’s not even your car.” Eve said rolling her eyes.

Inside Morgana was immediately welcomed with a warm applause from all sides. Eve and James sighed. Now came the worst part of the job. Ignoring the Speeches.

Half an hour and what felt like ten thousand words too much later they were standing in the newly opened Lobby and sipped on cool champagne flutes.

Q cleared his throat, announcing his presence via com. “Eve, you're playing sniper for now.”

Eve, clearly thankful for the distraction smirked. Her voice was calm and low when she answered. “We all know I’m a very good sniper.”

Bond silently lifted his eyebrow but kept talking to the duchess.

Morgana noticed, of course. “What was that about?”

Neither Eve nor Bond answered immediately.

“You can tell her. Her clearance is high enough.” came Q’s confirmation.

“Our handler was telling Eve to play sniper -to stay a step behind - and she said that that would be fine since we all know she is a very good sniper.” Bond explained sparsely, distaste clear in his voice.

Morgana lifted an eyebrow and turned to Eve. “Why is he so grumpy all of a sudden?”

Eve leaned closer, so their conversation wouldn’t be overheard. “Remember that Istanbul mission I told you about earlier?”

Morgana nodded and a wave of her perfume hit Eve like a sledgehammer in the gut. Nevertheless she continued. “Bond was fighting someone on top of a moving train. I was in a car and managed to arrive at a bridge the train was about to cross before the train. I was meant to take a shot, kill Bonds target for him while they were fighting. But well-”

She shrugged, nonchalance dripping off of her like rain during a thunderstorm. “- I shot Bond. He fell off the train, and missed the bridge on his way down. Fell fifty feet into water, head down, with a bullet in the shoulder. He was presumed dead for months. But really, we should have known better; no one can kill James Bond.”

Morgana took a step back and eyed Eve with respect. “We should have coffee some time.”

“I’d love too.” Eve smiled brightly.

Bond sighed miserably. “ Love, get me out of here, Eve just told Morgana how she killed me and now they’re ganging up on me.”

Morgana eyed James, then his champagne. “Did he just-”

Eve shook her head. ”He’s not drunk. He’s talking to our handler, see?” She pointed to James’ right ear where the tiny spec of metallic black gave away the com, then pushed back her hair to show her own com.

“...Did he just call your handler ‘Love’?”

Eve sighed. She was still not entirely over the fact that she hadn’t figured out that Q and James had been married all that time.

Bond interrupted her, before she could say anything. He had taken a speedy recovery from his sulky mood and was now positively gleeful. He stepped closer to the two women so they formed a group and Eve took a few steps backwards in retaliation to keep and eye on the room.

Bond emptied his champagne glass and handed it to a passing waiter. “The minions love betting. It’s a terrible habit of theirs. They bet about anything and anyone. Also anyones. When Q and I first met on the job we were flirting the entire time - well, Eve calls it bantering, but no matter - and within a fortnight there was a betting pool about when we’d get together. But then I went under deep cover for six months. Everyone except Q thought I had left MI6 for a quiet live with the daughter of an Enemy of Six. The minions kept the betting pool running because they’re smart little bastards, and when I came back everyone wanted to kill me for breaking Q’s heart.”

Morgana frowned. “I thought you weren’t together?”

Bond smirked. “We weren’t. I take it as a major compliment that they thought Q and I would fit well together, even after I had apparently left MI6 for a woman.”

“So they wanted you and Q together even though you’re straight? Sounds pretty homophobic to me.”

“I’m bisexual, but thanks for the concern.”

“No I’m - I didn't mean - I meant, they thought you were straight? Sorry, I’m a bit overprotective - my brother is bi and his Spouse is pan .”

She took a sip of champagne. “Also I’m a huge lesbian. “ She added like an afterthought.

Bond grinned, Eve was going to love this. “It’s fine. Well, they disbanded the betting pool a fortnight ago.” Bond sighed.

“Why? Did you guys get together? No... Don’t tell me - Q got a partner? You found someone else?”

“I was sent on a mission to seduce a woman who had intel we needed - and much more we didn’t even know about - and only found out there that she only ever went for married men.”

“I don’t think a wedding ring is in a standard kit for secret agents these days, hm?” Asked Morgana teasingly. “Though I have to say, you know how to tell a story.”

Bond smiled and bowed his head in thanks. “The minions were quite upset about this development too - they pride themselves into equipping an agent to their best interest at all times - and a wedding ring wasn’t on the list. Luckily -” Bond slipped his hand into the inner pocked of his jacket and produced a necklace with a golden band on it, “- I am a married man. We got the intel and I went home.”

Morgana's eyes went wide. “Now that is a plot twist. And congratulations.”

“Thank you. Story isn’t over yet. The minions were convinced I had been married before and my wife was dead. I mess up our rings sometimes since we mostly wear them on necklaces and it’s hard to tell the difference. So they kept the pool running. I arrived at MI6 five hours later and went to return my com. Q demanded I show him my ring. Turns out I had the wrong one so we exchanged our rings in the middle of Q-branch and went home.”

Morgana laughed brilliantly and Eves head turned as if on instinct. She knew Bond was going to tell the story brilliantly. He was a spy, a living story himself. Bond winked at her and she turned back to face the crowd.

“Now that was a ride. I love a good storytelling, even better when the story is true.”

“A friend of mine loves stories too, maybe I could introduce you some time?”

Morgana's expression turned Icy. “Commander Bond, I’m sure I have mentioned I’m not interested in men your age.”

“Oh, no worries, you're actually the same age as her.” said Bond amicably.

Morganas features softened instantly. “Still, no thank you, I just found someone quite perfect.”

“Really? Care to share?”

“I’d rather not. After all, I've only known her for a day, and she seems to have a habit of shooting people who cross her plans.”

Bonds smile widened. “Wonderful. If you should invite her for Christmas.”

Morgana “Should I invite you and your husband too? Usually it’s just family, but I'm sure I could make an exception?”

“Oh I'll be there.” There was a certainty in his voice that astounded her.

In that moment her Mobile ringed. She recognised the number immediately, already pressing accept. “Sir?” She said in a serious tone before breaking character. “How are you! I haven’t heard from you in ages, what was that all about?”

“Hello Morgana, how lovely to speak to you on this terrible, terrible day.”

“You are so melodramatic, it’s just winter.” Morgana smiled. After Merlin he was definitely her favourite brother-in-law.

“Just winter she says. Oh, well what can I do... Never mind. You know I have a minor position in MI6, yes?”

“’Course. I’ve been buggering you about details for ages now.”

“Bond is feeling terribly smug right now, because he doesn’t know I’m the one calling you - now before you say anything, How do you like Eve?”

“Oh you know, Sherlock has his adorably perfect remorseless killer, I want my own too.”

“Good, because she’s my friend and I want to see her happy. You really should invite her for Christmas - and yes I know Bond just said that.”

“How?”

“I’m in his ear, metaphorically speaking.”

“...Wait are you telling me-”

“I’m his handler and you just met my husband of seven years whom I never bring to family dinner because he’s always away? Yes.” Morgana exhaled dramatically. “You are a menace, you know that right?”

“I try. I am also the Quartermaster of MI6, just so you know. I meant to introduce you at Christmas, but the he got this assignment short term. So back to business, you and Eve-”

“Oh no, mister were having lunch tomorrow and you’re filling me in about all the details, so-”

“-so you have the upper hand at Christmas, I know. If it’s any consolation; none of my brothers have met him yet because he keeps dying.”

“Is he with you right now, I mean- are they with you?”

“I silenced the coms, neither of them heard a word on my end. See you tomorrow then, hm?”

“The usual place?”

“There is a reason it is the usual, is there not?”

“You silly genius, see you there! And thanks for the call!

“No problem, sister mine.”

She hung up. “We should get going.”

‘It’s a small world’ Morgana thought to herself, taking Eves arm and manoeuvring towards the exit, Bond staying at her left.

She smiled innocently at Him. Time to play her favourite game. “I’m so sorry, I had to take that. What were you saying?”

Fruits Basket and ‘problematic topics’

Okay … so this is going to be long and messy and lately I am starting to write some long text-posts about the stuff I like here on tumblr what I maybe shouldn‘t do … but since no one of my friends really cares for the things I like and since those thoughts kept pounding in my head I thought the best would be to write them down. So… warning… Spoilers for Fruits Basket (Manga, New/old Anime) ahead. And Warning this will contain some sensitive topics as well. And to warn you for the last time: I am no english native speeker. As for that.

So listen ... since one of my favorite animes of all time (Fruits Basket) got it‘s remake I am more than happy to see the new content popping up everywhere. What I don‘t like are some of the interpretations for some story parts.

Furuba isn‘t perfect and has a lot of flaws. The series is about 15 years old right now and things have changed. But what I want to adress is the issue about Furuba containing abusive and pedophile relationships which are romanticized and seen as okay.

I have to say. No. That is not the case and here is why I think this way.

The characters I want to talk about are mainly Akito and Shigure and Kyoko and Katsuya.

Yes. Furuba contains abusive relationships. But those are part of the story and not absolutly positive.

Looking at Akito and Shigure their relationship is very complicated and part of the discussion I mentioned above. When Shigure was very young he had a dream about Akito. The one person he would love. It was kind of a prophecy. A future vision. He sees the one person he is suppoused to be with. The one and only person for him. The dream was about an adult Akito - who was born 9 month later. So Shigure is about 6 years older as Akito and he clung to this dream and the feelings he conects with this: LOVE.

Even after the curse is broken he stayed with Akito. That was his main goal in the whole story. He wanted the curse to break to be with Akito. Not with some child. With the future Akito he saw in his dream. The real Akito, not the one obsessed with the curse (and her dead father).

Shigure is depicted as a typical ‚pervy character‘. An anime trope I don‘t really like but it is used often in anime and is for comedy. It seems japanese people tend to find this stuff funny. I don‘t really like this but I never thought anything about this since I have seen this so often. The pervy old men. Well… Shigure is 26. ‚Old‘ is really a relative vague term in this case but stil his character is used for this. Like Ayame and Mine later.

That his and Akitos relationship is kinda problematic for some people lies in the fact that Shigure is older and clung to his dream – while Akito was stil younger than him. That she will always be younger than him and that Shigure never did anything to her or did anything that would sexualize her (until she is over 21!) is never mentioned by anyone.

A lot of people mention the flower flashback where an 16 year old Shigure gave 10 year old Akito a flower, after she asked him, if he would love her. Shigure told her (depending on the translation) that he has and will always love her and that she is everything he cares about. He gave her a platonic kiss on her cheek and smiles at her with affection. Nothing more.

Yes Shigure was stil 6 years older at this time and Akito was about 10. But consider the story and Shigures futuristic prophecy dream … does this makes him a pedophile?

I don‘t think so - because a pedophile is a person who is sexually attracted to young children and minors. Shigure is not sexually attracted to young children even if he is used for this pervert trope. He is not sexually attracted to the 10 year old Akito. In the flower scene all I saw was affection and, yes, love. But platonic love. People need to learn to understand the difference between love and sex. And romantic, sexual and platonic love. Those feelings can develop and change - but you need to read a story in its context.

Is Shigure a pervert. Yes. Does he like to look at highschool girls – for the sake of the comedy, yes. Is he a pedophile. Fuck no.

Is his and Akitos relationship stil problematic? Hell yes. Because they both love each other to the point where they hurt and manipulate each other. This is not romanticized in the stroy. The have romantic moments, yes, but most of the time the relationship between those two is shown to be everything but perfect or healthy. In the end they come together but they have to work on their relationship. That is how I see this two.

Now to Katsuya and Kyoko.

Again people say Katsuya is a pedophile for marrying a (15?) 17 years old girl.

But again, as for Shigure and Akito, their realtionship is not flawless. Katsuya was a student teacher (a trainee teacher) when meeting Kyoko. He did this because his father was a teacher and wanted Katsuya to live up to this. So Katsuya was studying to become a teacher dispite he didn‘t really liked it (and later cancelled his education). When he meet Kyoko he didn‘t start to meet her because she was a young girl or because he was attracted to young girls. As we see in the manga Katsuya was very popular among the highschool girls and some of them had a crush on him. If he truely was a predetor he could have everyone he wanted … but he didn‘t. He found Kyoko intereseting as a person. A young lonly girl with no goals or ambitions. He wanted to help her and fell in love with her. It just happened.

So yes … he is about 8 years older as her. But when he dicided he wanted to marry Kyoko and spend the rest of his life with her, he cancelled his teacher education, went straight up to her parents house and asked her parents for permission to marry their underage daughter! This happend after Kyoko was released from the hospital and her parents wanted to throw her out of the house. Katsuya suddently appeared at the scene and even Kyoko was surprised. That is why I think he decided before he wanted to marry her and that is why he went to her parents home.

Again. A pedophile is a person who is sexually attracted to children. Katsuya married one girl and stayed with her. Had a child with her. Wanted more children with her as they grew older.

Was it good that a lost young girl who never had a real family or someone who cared for her married someone much older and who she was mostly dependend off? Yes. But that‘s all. I see no other problems here. I think the message that was suppoused to be here was: love can hurt but overcomes everything (even age) and can heal everything. Was it executed perfectly. Well … no. Sadly.

Another thing I found really confusing in this context is the topic of age gabs. Especially with american readers. I have read a lot of posts about relationships between minors. For example: He was 17, she was 13/ 14 … 3 year age gap but he is a grown men and a pedophile. Than: 17 year old girl, 20 year old men. 3 years age gab. Now she is a kid, he is a pedophile. And than I read a lot how people are thrown out of their parents homes the second they turn 18 because now they are grown adults. I am a little confused about this double standarts. Of cause the older you get the more you grow as a person and you become an adult sooner or later. But it is really … strange to me. Where is the line? From what moment on are you a stil a child? A Kid? A teen? A young adult? An aduld? This depends on the situation and circumstances and how people want to interpret this. Because …. regarding to this all vampire stories for example from the last years would be about pedophile vampires. Twilight, Vampire Diaries. Buffy.

So in the end: Fruits Basket has relationships with age gaps. Yes. Some of this relationships contain abusive behaivor. Yes. Are those portrait as absolutly positive and romantic? No. Are there parts of those relationships that are problematic? Yes.

Are there any pedophiles in this series? No. Just no.

Maybe people, especially younger people, should educate themself and learn what this term really means. Age gaps =\= pedophilia.

But in the end you will see what you want to see and read what you want to read in a story.

Unpopular - or very rare - opinions about Ron, even for a Ron-lover or a Romione-lover

I am quite a strange person, because I have the impression that no one agrees with what will follow. I won't even list the obvious, since I think most of the people who will read this are Ron-lovers like me.

I am not going to explain everything in details, mostly because I will post some comments and analysis to do so... soon ;) !

1. I am glad Ron dated Lavender, and I am slightly unnerved every time I read that he has been a "prat" in sixth year. Why ?

Because of double standarts, people.

Why is it okay for a girl to want to feel good about herself, to feel special, to be assured that she can achieve things and look good, and not for a boy ?

Feeling okay with oneself is a very important part of one's teenage years. My mum, as a teacher, often talks to pupils who loathes themselves (I have no right to spill their secrets here, but I hope everyone understands)... and that is heartbreaking.

Ron reminds me of them.

Ron dated Lavender at a moment in his life when he thought he was "pathetic", when he thought the girl he loved thought him pathetic too (and he had reasons for thinking so...) when one of his teachers was unable to remember his name and kept looking through him as if he didn't exist while lavishing praise on his best friends and sister, when nobody except Lavander told him he was worth something, when his own team hated him, when his sister had humiliated him, when everyone was looking at Harry in awe, when he had just got scarred for life (scars oddly reminding me of cutting) and had lived through a traumatic event, when nobody except Lavender was doting on him, when nobody seemed to care about him but her.

It did not solve everything. Ron is extremely prone to self-hatred, and I don't believe it ever disappeared after the locket. But for once in his life, Ron actually felt good about himself for a while.

It is not that he did not care about Lavender's feelings. Not at all. Just see the way he felt when they broke, extremely guilty about having made her cry. She fancied him, he appreciated her and he was trying to get over Hermione. (and realised he couldn't, but that is another story...) Why would dating her be wrong ? He did not use her. He did not manipulate her. He appreciated her.

Why would that be wrong, although Hermione and Ginny did the exact same thing ?

I am all for Hermione when she dated Krum at the Yull Ball and Ron tried to guilt her over it, and she yelled at him (even if it I don't want to imagine Ron's feelings the night after, crying himself to sleep because "he would never be good enough for her"... Yeah, Schopenhauer was right: you only fully realise how much something is important once you lost it - or think you lost it). It was important for her to realise that she was not just a "bookworm", but a person who had just as everybody the right to feel desirable, and special.

Ginny dated other guys than Harry, and she was fully aware she had absolutely no feelings towards them (see Dumbledore's funeral) and ... ? She was trying to be herself, to get over Harry. She did not use guys, she genuinely appreciated them and it was important for her. It helped her becoming the person she became.

It was important for Ron too, and I wish people saw that.

2. I don't blame Ron for leaving in DH. It is not that I am cutting him slack, or that I just forgave him. It is more than that. I am admirative.

I think, and this is something I will defend to death after some research I made, that Ron has been mentally tortured by the locket.

Yes, I repeat it, tortured. This is not a hyperbole.

Note that I don't blame Harry or Hermione for the fight. They were manipulated - not tortured yet. The only one I blame is the locket

People don't realise that things could have gone horribly wrong. Under torture, people are led to do awful things. And that cannot be judged. Their pain is so huge they are not in their right mind.

When Ron faced his torturer again after he left, in a state of mental exhaustion, terror and anguish, for another mental torture session, he went very close to possession -actually he has been possessed one moment - and he could have killed Harry. That was exactly what Voldemort wanted : killing the Boy-who-lived by all means, weakening him, destroying the Trio.

It is out of sheer courage and thanks to his golden heart that Ron resisted torture and possession.

Wow indeed.

It could have been another way : with all the self-loathing stuff he always thought being repeated over and over again, he could have committed suicide. I think he could have attempted to do it if he had not left, but this is Ron who never gives up we're talking about, so who knows ?

3. Ron is not insensitive at all. It is the other way around.

Another thing I am ready to die defending it

We have a problem of vocabulary : being insensitive means that you don't care about others' feelings, that you don't feel empathy for others, or that you don't feel empathy at all. Sociopaths are often insensitive.

So... Ron, according to this definition, insensitive ???

I think it would be better if people just said that he was tactless sometimes.

4. Ron is not carefree. An optimist, yes, a boy trying to see the fun in life, yes, often immature, yes, sometimes insensible, yes...

But carefree ? No.

Look at the way he is often very anxious, the way he feels so very strong feelings, the fact that he is overly emotional, the fact that he worries so much.

The emotional range of a teaspoon, my arse.

Ron is a mix of raw emotion, passion, fire, and sunshine, wind and freedom.

5. Ron is romantic.

I see you laughing in a corner, because really, Ron, who had so much problems with dealing with girls, romantic ?

Well, being romantic means that you have idealistic ideas about love (I know what I'm talking about).

And look at Ron, squealing with delight on the floor when Harry received his first kiss, getting desperate when he learnt that Hermione had given het first kiss to another, playing matchmaker (this SCENE at the end of OOTP), grunting because "he thought that (Ginny) had a crush on Harry...", being ready to commit himself to love for eternity at seventeen...

6. Ron was not "the prat who walked out on Harry out of jealousy" in fourth year.

Both boys were to blame here. And acted out of a feeling of betrayal.

Better even : Ron first tried to swallow his bitterness.

7. Ron was not that prejudiced towards giants, house-elves and werewolves

Giants : what did he say ?

That they were violent and "awful", because they were killing one another.

Well, look at what Hagrid, a half-giant, says about it (conversation after his return in OOTP)

House-elves : what did he say ?

--> that they didn't want to be freed : apart from Dobby, whom he respected very much, he was right

--> that they loved doing what they did : once again he was right

--> that they were not human beings, and that you could not talk to them the same way : he was both right and wrong. You have to consider them as equals, and if you don't see them as human beings, you can be prone to forget it; however, house-elves are another species with other needs and expectations; and you have to be careful about what you say to them and the way you say it (house-elves are much more naive, innocent and emotional)

Werewolves : what did he say for people to think that ?

--> the "get away from me, werewolf !"

Ah, the hypocrisy. Let me remind you of something :

"'NO!' Hermione screamed, 'Harry, don't trust him, ge's been helping Black get into the castle, he wants you dead - he's a werewolf !"'

But people, think about it one second : these circumstances were NOT normal. They were hurt and TERRIFIED teenagers who had just seen one of their teachers hug and being really friendly with a seemingly mass murderer. They felt betrayed.

Imagine if Sirius had been a mass murderer : Lupin would have been like Greyback, who identifies himself as a werewolf and as a beast.

Ron and Hermione did not really think what they said. They were just TERRIFIED.

--> the "Dumbledore hired you, he's crazy"

Same thing.

It is crazy to expect perfection from terrified and feeling-like betrayed teenagers.

8. Ron does not lust much after other girls

I won't count Fleur, because the state he was in when he was seeing her was only due to her Veela-abilities (and let's face it -Harry too was influenced by it - just look at the way he described her when she entered his room at the beginning of HPB; Ron was just more sensitive to it)

He had a cute crush (oh god I hate this word) on Mrs Rosmerta.

He found Lavender nice, but did not lust after her.

And...?

That's all.

Full stop.

9. Ron's Boggart is not a spider

It may have been the case in the first books, but not in the last ones.

Otherwise let's assume that Parvati's Boggart will always be a mummy, that Seamus's will always be a banshee and that Dean's will always be a severed hand...

Nope. People grow and change, and their fears too.

I think that Ron's Boggart, once OOTP ends, has most likely been a dead or hurt Hermione that he had not been able to save, or a locketlike vision.

10. Ron is not so relatable and ordinary.

Well, maybe he is relatable for the way he feels inadequate, and his tendency to self-hatred reminds probably some people of their own struggle.

The fact that we can read him like an open book is perhaps relatable as well.

His arachnophobia ?

Maybe his bad luck.

But I never thought him ordinary. Or else being ordinary has never been so extraordinary.

The day you find a boy who is ready to die for others and to sacrifice himself at the age of twelve, call me.

The day you find somebody who is arachnophobic and is ready to follow spiders into a dark forest without complaining and even trying to appear enthusiastic, call me.

The day you find a fourteen-years old with a bitten arm and a broken leg, and standing on it without complaining once to tell somebody everyone thinks is a mass murderer and that he had seen with a knive above his bed some months ago, "If you want to kill my best friend, you'll have to kill me too", call me.

The day you find a boy who begs to be tortured instead of the person he loves and who is ready to give up everything he is for her or him, call me.

The day you find somebody who defies a dictator and a murderer when all hope is lost, call me.

And then I dare you to tell me they're ordinary.

I am sure some people imagine that I think Ron has no flaws, mostly because the things people blame him for are things I am often glad he did.

That is not true.

But the things I criticize Ron about are often smaller : imitating Hermione in Charms in HPB, his comment about Neville to feel better about himself before asking Hermione to the ball, his comment during a party during the Scabbers/Crookshanks fight...

However, I do worship Ron to the stars.

And I am proud of it.

Tel Aviv 2019: Straight outta Latvia to Eurovision with a cinematic French rendez-vous

Supernova with their strict-on decision to only focus on all that’s radiofriendly this year went to hell for me. I mean, I like me some pop tunes, but not those that are purposefully marketed to be enjoyed by the massive sheeps of the Eurofandom who usually fall for those songs by Michael James Down, Will Taylor, even Ylva & Linda... because at the end of the day they’re all just shallow and pointless outside the ESC bubble.

Well the best they could do is to accept some different winds out of nowhere! And so they did when the audition stage hit place and we guys got to witness the 33 shortlisted tunes for this year, among which of them are loudly and proudly different - like “Alligator” and “Grow”, which I did not fathom but I was also raging for their not qualification for - more precisely “Alligator” which was way more outstanding of those two I mentioned. The guys that performed that song were fun, their performance choice was fun, they could have totally rocked on Supernova... but alas.

In fact not that many alternative songs made it to the final down-to-16 cut! There might have been a couple of those that sound nothing a radio would play unless it’s not playing pop on its purpose (Laime Pilnīga’s ”Awe” comes to mind right away), but in the end of the day, not many of those survived and we were graced with some... choices, like letting Samanta Tina waste herself on a cocky-ass tune with terrible chorus rhyme-scheme and unbearable charisma and putting through the most Eirodziesma-like mess-fest with the Beaver guy on top of it. Honey I like you in costume but... not in this emploi.

I don’t blame them though, as one of non-blatant-pop tunes conquered the Latvian hearts for this year. These next Latvian people in Laura Rizzotto’s succession are collectively named Carousel and their song is “That Night”.

It sets a romantic mood throughout, like we all are reliving this magical last date - it was in a restaurant, the candles were lit, the restaurant looked vintage with bordeaux satin tablecloth on the table, and the couple is having a smooth evening... until the love runs out to the probably cold and rainy streets and the other half of the couple starts longing for one's love. That's all I can imagine with this.

So yeah, I really like this! It's got lovely instrumentation that doesn't need all the over the top instruments - just guitar, simple drums, etc.; the noir flair is distinct on here and that's not bad on here; this is just a simple and soft song that you too could play in your own restaurants when all the lovely couples have romantic dinners and sip wine. And in some kind of a French movie, too (with the lead role being a curly redhead artiste with striped sweater, looking for love in Paris (because it’s so romantic in there honhonhon). I'm not sure if the revamp touched upon this one little problem I noticed but the problem kinda seems to be that the chorus repeats. A lot. And verses are way too short that they could be easily forgotten against the 4th and 5th time one would be hearing the "lo-o-o-o-ove, where? Are? You?" line, and then lulled into sleep at how peacefully relaxing it is. Which is indeed of a problem because repetition has quite a bit of a negative effect on people. Yes, it gets the song onto your brain more easily, but the repetition drives people insane too. Just like it was suspected for “Story of My Life” (Belarus 2017) on its original version to be unable to be ‘stood’ - after the 2nd chorus, the rest of the song just went like “hey hey hayayayaho” until the end. Naviband fixed the problem by throwing in another vocal onomatopoeia in a form of the song bridge and I loved them for it, even if there still were too many “hey hey hey”s at the end, haha.

Final conclusion? Yep, issa good entry, and if anything it’s helluva underrated. Say what you want about it being “boring”, to me it’s somewhat fresh and exciting, because the melodies are pleasant, the instrumentation is top notch and Sabīne’s vocals are relaxing. Delightful starry night music, oh yes, thanks a lot for it, Carousel, I’m taking it.

Obviously, after they won Supernova, there was a lowkey uprising from fans who were dead certain on wanting Edgars Kreilis or Markus Riva to win, eek. Honeys, honeys. I do like those two as well, BUT for a bit of a mess that Supernova 2019 was with some of their decisions to include, I think it’s for the better they finally let themselves go lighthearted over it all rather than blatant tryhard to sound radio for the masses just cuz the NF wanted. Just forgive Carousel for winning, okay? Okay. ^_^

Approval factor: Definite yes from me, because why wouldn’t I rate it a yes. Yay brotherland!

Follow-up factor: For me personally this is miles better than Laura Rizzotto's last year's melodrama. Overall I think it just flows nice and is a delightful addition to the Latvian collection.

Qualification factor: This I cannot think about all too often but I am not sure if they'd... stand a chance anymore? I'd use to think it did, but that was weeks before supposedly much stronger entries rushed in, squeezing Latvia into an uncomfortable position. But I really hope it's just charming enough to kind of get through. Sort of. A little bit. I'm positive about it happening, but not that much. And a lot of older audiences might love it enough to vote it, too.

NATIONAL FINAL BONUS

I admit that I got way too heated about hearing Supernova’s new approach to selecting entries, but in the end it turned out that I didn’t need to worry all that much in the first place - some of those alternative entries we got were very nice (or at least the entries out of the standart overbearing radio-pop norm), both in their actual auditions (this time they were on an actual stage in front of a jury instead of the listeners pick-pocketing the submissions themselves) AND among the actual picks. But what else is there to be note-worthy in this year’s edition of this show?

• Well, among of the auditionees there were those too-weird-ass bands/artists (some of them I mentioned), and you saw me mention the “Alligator” song to you beforehand, which is done by an ambitious project ATOM.LV (so did I mention “Grow" by Waterflower and her show is worth mentioning as well <3 Those flowers in her hair, the hair color, the makeup, her overall image (it’s like Jamie-Lee upgraded) and the dance moves are ADORABLE <3333 but the song is... hmm... :c). And I’ll repeat myself - those guys rocked! I may have not been a massive fan of this but I can at least commend them - they had a good song structure going on, a clear message (alligators from the stars *catchy trumpet fanfare part* trying to probably conquer the world, yeah!) and an outrageous tribal image with that facepaint on! Awh hell yeah! Who wouldn't want THAT through the live shows??? Ah, only the Latvian juries ofc. (And me because I never got the appeal of this but I sure felt sad for 'em kids hoping and wishing for them through :x)

• Thank Goodness I had my faves through - all hail Double Faced Eels! They're the little legendary pop band who went all their way to compete in some Youtube contest and have had sung with Bebe Rexha as the prize for winning it almost 1,5 years ago :o Believe it or not but I have heard of them way before their Sulernova stint - I got introduced to them through a friend, known on Tumblr as Soupgeist. :3 And I don't regret stanning a name I know, as "Fire", their entry in this year's 'Nova, was a pop-rock banger with some electro in! Granted the vocaliat might've had some troubles singing live but he still pulled it off nicely in the finals, with that energy coming out on top! Yeah yeah, uguns. 🔥

• Like I mentioned earlier, there were people rooting for other favourites this year so heavily, and that annoyed the hell out of me, because I thought that Eurofans have some sort of evolving tastes that accept more than just pretty pop boys/girls with not-so-special songs? Well, I mentioned that Eurofans’ targets were Edgars Kreilis and Markus Riva. The latter felt so attacked about him trying to achieve his representation dream over and over he even tweeted about it once... well I did like his song “You Make Me So Crazy”, but I found it a little too overrated with the fans. So I did Edgars, but his song was way catchier and had way more personality than being a club track, I tell ya. Why would his song be renamed from “Fire” (yes, he partially shared a song title with that Double Faced Eels’s song!) to “Cherry Absinthe”, anyway? It gives it a bit more of an exciting feeling, tbh. ^_^ So I ended up rooting for him a little bit more out of the two ‘pretty’ pop boys, if I had to accept one of those kind of winners that everyone wanted (like everyone wanted just either yesyes or The Middletonz for Hungary this year).

• There were a lot of other nice chosen songs too that I would’ve loved to discuss, but I just can’t not mention the Riga’s Beaver as one of the more memorable moments here. I did write earlier in this that I was disappointed though. Not because of the beaver being out of costume and coming at us as a young-to-middle-aged stunning lad, but because the Beaver-entry, “Tautasdziesma”, was a “Supernova”-times cluster-mess. I think of this as a charity music medley-parody of some sorts, and that doesn’t bode with me well, and sometimes I like parodies, like the one Klemen Slakonja (aka the guy who portrayed Putin for a musical number once) did in his country’s NF in 2012 (that he hosted) was fairly nice (although a bit too much), but... ehhh... at least the men are fine and their costumes were dandy.

• Let’s not forget that those auditions had this one glorious thing going on during the performances - we saw shots of the jurors judging all of the 33 shortlisted acts with... rather less-than-enthusiastic looks, and man oh man were they fabulously done with this shit <3333

if that’s not a big indicator of them being too dead inside to be judging anything that day, then idk what is...

Anyway, I am finished with this review also, and I’m happy about it! I don’t think I can move any of this at a more quicker pace (seriously, I have to do so many more even during rehearsals!!!), but I am still trying to do my best. Good luck to the Carousel quartet and may they not flop in May! To hell with the naysayers sweeties, you’ll do just fine x ✨

Voltron Dance Academy AU

okay for this hear me out: I am not a professional dancer and I know jack shit about dancing but this is a fun thing spooking in my brain for a while now so bear with me please okay? okay

It’s headcanon time!

An AU where everyone is a dancer and shit

Basically there are two majour big dance academies in Altea: Voltron and Galra

It all starts by the Garrison closing down and the crew having to find a new dance academy.

Lance, Hunk and Pidge were put in a trio back in Garrison and therefore know each other and for comfort Pidge goes to see Matt and Hance join bc what else to do?

Keith is with Shiro and just “wat now”

so Shiro is just “Well Matt and I will just unwind tonight, wanna come?”

And somehow they all end up at this open dance night, where they just have their fun and all dance a bit, until the club anounces the dance stage open for the more brave guys.

Lance runs onto the now free dancefloor only to bump into this chick.

LO AND BEHOLD IT’S OUR GIRL BLUE

But the music aready starts and they roll wth it

Lance thought he is a great dancer, but oh boi, this girl leaves him in the dust with her precise and lively steps he is absolutely WOOED

If he is a level 10 dancer she exceeds the 70 Level line by far

Still everyone cheers them on and it’s super much fun!

Especially because both have a lot of fun together and despite not knowing each other and improvising a lot they click and dance pretty well together

Even if Blue is the one leading and hogging most of the spotlight

Shiro notices a few more people at the sidelines who seem to be with the girl, cheering for her (aside of this one chick who looks grumpy af all the time)

The next song comes on and a pretty small girl and a giant come forth bringing some BANGING JAZZ and michael jackson style steps to the floor (fedora and vest included)

They do all the stuff, from tap dance, jive, swing- a wild mixture, but stylish af

The song ends and Shiro sees the grumpy girl of the group return from the DJ. He wats to hold Keith back, but the guy already sprints onto the stage and almost clashes with this smaller girl (guess who)

And oh boi as the music sets in she gives such quick ballet moves Keith is left in the dust like Lance prior

Of course this is Keith, he aint going down without a fight and show off his own skills, but she owns the stage with her grace, as if she is flying over it, as if gravity doest exist

Keith “I dance ballet almost my entire life” Kogane is put in place by nobody else but this chick he never met and he is both furius and absolutely stunned

“Let’s get a big applause for the one and only Red Lioness of Voltroooon!”

Shiro: Voltron? Lance: Hold up! Isn’t Voltron that prestigeous dance academy?

“And now exclusevely just for this night The Lions of Voltron with their debut choreography!”

Nobody of them knows what the f is going on, but the music starts and they witness an absolutely epic dance group performanc led by this one young woman with the short black hair

It’s as if they all are one entity, their moves precise and totally synched up.

Not only the synchrone parts, but the place swaps, the double moments, the acrobatic movements, it’s absolutely fitting and a perfect picture.

It leaves the crew absolutely stunned

The club goes back to it’s usual routine and everyone disperses.

Pidge runs at Matt (who had probably his third vodka lemon in hands) and fangirled about those quick jazz steps, the smooth movements of that very small girl that was dancing

he just nods and slurps his drink because yes mhm i have no idea what is happening, but yes let’s give my little sis some acknowledgement, god I am so drunk where is Shiro I need an adult

Hunk and Lance were basically not even listening at each other and just talking in one big waterfall about how AMAZING that just was

and Shiro quickly follows Keith who makes a B line to the girl he danced again

“What’s your name and where did you learn to dance like that?”

Red just turns to him absolutely unamused and scoffs

“Excuse me?”

Blue makes a face and gives a short whistle, but before a fight breaks out Black and Shiro pull their hotheads back

“Scarlet/Keith”

The two look at each other andd exchange soft smiles

“I’m sorry, he’s-” “It’s okay, I get it. Maybe we could talk outside?” “Yeah good idea.”

The others notice Shiro and Keith leaving and quickly travel behind.

Lance just leans against Hunk and gives Blue a charming smile

“Hey gorgeous.” And she smirks back just as flirty. “Hey there handsome~”

Count Lancce absolutely LOVESTRUCK

Red just keeps glaring at Keith and murmuring “This is ridiculous, let’s just leave.”

And before Shiro and Black can really talk a loud “There you are!” has the lions turn around, Blue just groaning annoyed.

Entrance Allura and Coran

Did I say Blue had Lance lovestruck? Oh no, boi just fell in love at first sight ho mama mia

Blue: Allura PLEASE Black: Olea, just don’t.

Allura just talks in one flow to Black about how they can’t just leave during an open end night and how they still had practice yare yare

“Allura, I get that, but we all needed a small break, just a little... change of pace, we’ve been practicing the routine non stop for the entire day.”

Cue the Crew feeling a bit awkward and third wheelie.

“And who are these guys?”

Lance: your future lover~ Green: he wished Blue: pFT

“Um, my name is Shiro. We actually just saw them all dance and heared they are called the Lions of Voltron so we... got a bit curious if they meant the academy of Voltron...”

Hunk explains that the Garrison had to be closed down and that all of them were looking for a new dance school

and immideatly everyones miens change

Red: good luck with your search then. Black jut puts two fingers to her lips to shut her up.

“Actually...” She starts with a smile and then Allura approuches them as well.

“This is actually great timing... How about we invite you to apply for Voltron?”

You might think that I have double standarts like I love AIC with William but I don’t like STP without Scott Weiland. But I tell you what: AIC never hired anyone while Layne was alive and they never tried to replace him! William doesn't try to copy Layne’s style. Yes, they replaced Mike Starr long time ago. But it didn’t affect to the sound much because he wasn’t the main songwriter.

While STP bullied Scott for his drug addiction and bipolar and never let him finish his treatment and put him in debts. They fired him from the band several times, tried to replace him and it even didn’t work much! And now they are telling everyone how much they love Scott and they hired a vocalist who is mimicking him.

When Layne was in the bad condition the band decided to give him time to recover and to fix his problems and they respected him.

Also William in the band now as equal amount of time as Layne was and it’s just not fair to shit on him. He is here to complement the sound of the band and to keep the iconic harmonies with his own style and songwriting!

I fell into AIC stuff for the first time when I heard Rooster and Check My Brain and I am lucky to love every album of this band and appreciate every vocalist and a band member.

What would you think if Gon got a new traveling partner? Of course they could not replace Killua lol. But since Killua is with Alluka I think it might be interesting to see Gon's dynamic with another/new character. What kind of person do you think might have a positive influence on him at this point? Killua would probably get jealous though lol. On that note, what do you think Gon needs to do in the meantime to grow and how do you think he will be able to mature and whatnot?

This is a little hard to say because at the moment, Gon is faaar from being in shape and in term with travelling. He wants to spend some time with his family, with Mito and his grandma, that he hadn’t seen in over two years now. He needs to get back in the familly’s cocoon and take care of himself. As for now, Mito is treating him like a normal kid and distracts him with the homeworks he should have done in the meantime, and Gon seems rather busy with all of that.

Which i think is good for him for now. He lived something so traumatic, so much that he wanted to kill himself, and he ust achieved an unfuffiling goal - it’s important for him to come back to somewhere he feels entierely safe and comfortable. And at least he seems to be comfortable opening up to Mito about everything that happened, and about for exemple, how meeting Ging was leaving him completely out of it.

For now, he’s focusing on being a normal kid - being more at peace with himself.

Ging mentions that Gon still has an aura but he just can’t see it anymore - while i do think Gon sacrified a lot of it and all, i think he can possibly reachive it, but i also think that the traumatic experience, both mentally and physically with how it affected his body, will give him problems with his Nen. So it’s really important for Gon to make peace with himself.

And I don’t see his current situation to be so bad. I think he’s not okay. I think he has a hard time coming to term with, not only his goal bringing to something not that fullifying, but with everything that happened to him, especially in the CA arc - and the complete powerlessness that resulted.

but I think he’s in a good environment to recover and at least feeling at peace with a family figure (which is essencial to him after now having the confirmation he cannot connect with his father).

So, I personally think Gon is not okay, but at least in the best environment he could be into with his current state. It would frighten me if he was still running in the wild, especially with the likes of Ging or Kite who are not the best emotional supports there is (and while Ging was trying to help some things being solved, he really rubbed a lot of salt in the wound).

As for being with Killua, while my heart say yes, my head tells me that you can’t ask this much of them. They’re kids with their own traumas and they came to a point it’s hard to handle. They’re too young to be able to clearly deal with their own trauma healthily already, and I don’t think it’d be for the best for them to try to mutually help each other for now, they should focus on themselves as individuals, until they’re both in a better place. We can’t require of them to fix each other.

At best, I think Gon needs a proper adult to guide him. Mito is doing her best but she can’t understand deeply everything Gon had been through, and I truly think Gon needs to adress his trauma as what it was, and not with Ging nor Kite

So for now, I could see, say, a Sailor often passing by and giving him a few tips a few times and Gon eventually growing on them and maybe when he’ll be ready, going on normal travel adventures that doesn’t require Nen, at least until he really recover with himself.

I personally really think Gon needs to be around a responsible adult (or older teen - an older figure) because he can’t expect another kid to help him as for now. (we cannot really ask for that from Leorio and Kurapika for instance - but I think Leorio could be eventually a good moral support if Gon keep contact with him. But with all that happen on the boat lately I don’t think Leorio has the time to pick up the phone. Meanwhile, damn, Kurapika and Gon absolutly need to have a conversation, not because Kurapika is a responsible adult (god would you imagine) but because of the similarities of their experiences toward revenge. And while Kurapika is all ready to throw his life away, he has a double standarts when it comes to others doing that, and I think especially if it would be with Gon, it could bring for an interesting conversation that could help the both of them. But now is not the time for that, sadly, and we cannot count on that to fully help their recoveries).

But hey, maybe the Sailor is a parental figure with a kid around Gon’s age running around. It could give Gon some stuff to confront about what he wanted from his father and on his relationship with Killua to have someone else his age being around - and yet likely, feeling different than Killua. (because you don’t meet an ex-assassin easily).

As for Killua getting jealous, I think at best he could get extremely melancholic of having someone else with Gon ahah, and always making sure Gon is in safety, but I don’t think Killua would take it too bad.
