Well hello my friend!

So here is my list! I haven't actually read fics with all of the tropes listed (for shame of me, I know) but for those one's I will simply give what I think it would rank at (and then go read them lol)

Found Family: A: I absolutely love found family fic and will actively look them out for the feels. I think they have different names under different fandoms like how Team is Family in the MCU is practically the same thing. As for a rec, remembering the previous statement as above, I would say that the Components of Construction by Rayshippouuchiha is such a good found family series with a lot of little fics within that has that energy.

Time travel fix it: For sure, 100% A. I have read so many time travel fix it fics and have enjoyed so many that I would say that it is definitely a trope I pick out. As for my recommendation for this, a short and sweet CR fic is Never Ending or Beginning (An Ever Spinning Wheel) by Infraredphenton. Their widomauk fic are amazing!

Near Death Experiances: D: I will have to shoot you straight->I have terrible anxiety in relation to near death experiences and tend to avoid them to keep my own peace. In saying that I have read a few fic that have the premise and I definitely don't hate it, but I largely avoid them at this moment in my life as to not give my overactive imagination more ammunition. Tbh I can't think of a reference off the top of my head.

Hanihacki: C: I don't personally find romantic hanihaki fic that compelling, but I read a fic many years ago that I would rec if I could remember it past the vague idea of it. It had the premise to be that of platonic/familial love and I was IN on that shit. I think the author's execution would definitely effect my enjoyment as I don't tend towards sad fic that often (I need that happy ending!!!)

Kalina is my 'poor little meow meow: B: I would say that I enjoy reading a fic that explores Kalina's side of things. I wouldn't say that I go out and read them frequently, but I def know of a good one. What Does A Cat Have To Do To Be Redeemed Around Here? by kkbluebyrd is worth checking out! <3

Pretend Relationship B: I would say that the pretend relationship has a place in my heart. While I don't tend to go looking for it, when I stumble across it in the wild I am clicking on the fic. I like it when the relationship they are pretending isn't just romantic, like pretend divorce or pretend parent/child relationship just bc its fun! A good rec for a pretend relationship (which is a fake dating au) would be for BG3, particularly Party Favours by howlsmovinglibrary. It has probably my favourite characterization of Astarion out there and is overall a delight to read.

Baby Riz Gukgak This is where I earn your shame->I haven't actually read a fic with this exact tag or trope, but the concept of it would be solid B tier for me. So I guess I will have to take a look...;)

Crack Treated Seriously A: Literally anything that is unhinged that is being played straight will send me. I love it on principle. Two for the price of one by Empressed is a scum villian fic that is a bit angsty, but over all an amazing read.

No Beta We Kayaking Like Tim So I have read The Magnus Archive fic before, but never actually one with this specific tag lol. I would say based on just my vibes about it, I would put it at B-> I now have to go read...

Everybody in this fic needs therapy A tier, 100000%, I love me some fucked up ass holes that need therapy and instead all they got are each other. Mother fuckers are having a GO at it and I want to watch the world burn while they're at it. I find that this is more of a vibe that a lot of fics have rather than an overt tag, so in the spirit of that, a fic that doesn't have the this trope tagged explicitly, but has the vibe is once upon a damn you all by grayintogreen. I will be honest, I haven't had the time to get around and finish it (school and work hate me and want me to have no fun)

Garthy O'Brien is a great dad B: Can I just say that I love Garthy? Just...I love them and I think the layers of their and Ayda's relationship is amazing and I love it dearly. I hadn't read any fic though about them till today (an oversight tbh) i'll be home for solstice was one I just discovered and is amazing!!!

There is... admittedly a lot of songs that I associate with Caleb. But the 3 that I will mention are Would That I by Hozier because it makes me think about this literal masterpiece of a music video.

Then Curses by The Crane Wives. Which..... hough. The. The whole song is him, realistically. But I am not going to post the entire lyrics in this post for it. HOWEVER THE LAST CHORUS IN PARTICULAR....

This is actually a tough question because while I relate heavily to Caleb it's.... very hard to put the why into words.

He's very determined. He is the embodiment of burnt out gifted kid (no pun intended). He shows his affection through little gifts and quality time spent. He's willing to rip the entire world in half for the sake of those he loves. He really likes cats.

I think without getting into the nitty gritty details that is a Lot of my appeal for him.

#18. How about a relationship they have in canon with another character that you admire?

While this would be an excuse for me to talk about widomauk I am instead forcing empire kids thoughts upon ye.

Caleb and Beau from the start were compelling. And their dynamic never stopped. They're the two humans of the group. They both came from less than ideal home-lives and then had horrible experiences with a person of authority in their lives. Neither of them cared that the other was a shitty person because the other understood. The other understood why they were a shitty person.

Early campaign empire kids is especially fascinating to me from Beau's perspective. Her trying to have a heart to heart with him only to have him walk away from her because he really does not like talking about himself in front of so many people. And her only response is to??? Just passive aggressively yell "WOOOOW. FUCKING COOL, CALEB!!!" At him!!! It is so fuckin funny but also shows that they are still learning to trust each other. Only to then be followed a couple episodes by Caleb apologizing and hugging her and for her to just??? Confusedly hug him back?? That awkward hug was EVERYTHING.

Beau: *schwacks her goggles over her eyes and then turns to Caleb* How do i look!? :3c

Caleb, without missing a beat: You look like a nerd.

I SIMPLY CARE THEM!! They are so stupid together but they are simply siblings!!! They care so much about each other. Caleb is literally willing to give up the safety of shelter for himself and the better half of the group in order for Beau to go on a date with Yasha. Beau sneaks Caleb into the biggest goddamn library which also happens to be the place where everyone hates her just in order for him to get some information. Caleb holding onto Beau for security while concentrating on a spell.

#22. If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

OHHH MY GOOOHHHODD

When they make him speak German!!! Especially when they make him speak German correctly!!!! It is actually very rare that I see good dialogue written for Caleb where he will slip into Zemnian (which is. just the German language but renamed for the campaign). Especially writing him where he speaks Zemnian when he's tired!! Acknowledging that he doesn't think in Common!!!!!

ALSO WHEN THEY DESCRIBE HIS SPELLS!!! There's. admittedly there's one fic in particular that I am thinking of while typing this out but I will refrain from linking it.

But describing his spellwork and his little quirks that he does and... god. He's so so complex to work with but when you get it right??? Hough.

#25. What was your first impression of this character? How about now?

I think I immediately liked him hHSDHGhGHDHG.

No but seriously I think seeing enough of Caleb from clips is what made me start watching it. I knew I was going to love him from the start. And that hasn't changed. He is, i think by now, one of my top 5 characters in media?? Like I do not realistically have a defined list but I can guarantee he has a spot somewhere on top 5.

The way so much of Caleb’s love and longing for his family mirrors how he grieves Molly. Caleb writing a letter to Molly when he buries him, telling him to come find them, a desperate hope to see him again—Caleb always writing journal entries to his parents, believing he would one day reunite with them. Jester offering to resurrect Caleb’s parents—Caleb softly asking if she could resurrect Mollymauk instead—

So as like a new guy here what's the thing that drew you to Molly and/or widowmauk?

I mean molly is my heart. I just adore him he means so much to me. And that extends to king and lucien too there isn’t a version of him i haven’t loved with my whole chest

Widomauk is cute. I think caleb and molly work together extremely well outside of shipping context they just really match eachothers energy. Theres tons of scenes of them effortlessly “co parenting” or making plans. Also just how perfectly opposite they are in every way but are fundamentally similar in having a past theyre trying to heal from. Theyre freak for freak. Theyre so funny. Matt made rhe minis kiss. Im only one moral man okay? I like a red/blue ship
