This is an add on of several people who don't quite fit the list since they aren't fictional but I wanted to give a little tribute to because they made an impact.

1) Steve Irwin/Irwin Family | The Crocodile Hunter

Steve Irwin and the whole Irwin gang/family taught me to respect nature and I learned many things that I still follow to this day. His energetic enthusiasm was endearing and his love of nature passed onto the audience.

2) A and B Teams | Mythbusters

I still watch not only reruns of the show but Adam's YouTube channel. The perfect balance of fun and learning is one of the best ways we retain information. Just like how Steve Irwin is to nature and Bill Nye to basic science, I think the Mythbusters hit a different part of the "entertainment education" sphere.

3) Steve | Blues Clues

I'm just in that age range where I was getting too old for the show, so I didn't watch it much, but who doesn't know Steve? Who doesn't still sing "we just got a letter, we just got a letter, we just got a letter, wonder who it's from?" every time they get the mail? Who didn't tear up at the actor only a few years ago checking in on us?

4) Bob Ross | The Joy of Painting

Sometimes I will just paint happy little trees.

This is a year-long commitment but I'm up for the challenge.

I'm convinced Mythbusters needs a reboot. Misinformation or mythinformation if you will, is at an all time high. We NEED the show that promotes critical thinking to come back. It doesn't need the same cast, in fact I think it would be better with some fresh faces. Imagine all the good it would do if you could just show your crazy uncle the Mythbusters reboot episode that debunks his anti-vaxx conspiracy in an easily digestible and entertaining format.

You know, that Mythbusters post legitimately changed my life. Before seeing it, I had exponentially more guilt and stress about not being able to sleep, which of course, further exacerbated my inability to sleep.

Now, every time I wake up about three am, knowing I have to get up at 6.45, instead of stressing and panicking about how my day is going to be sleep deprived and miserable, I just tell myself 'Time to activate Mythbusters Protocol' and lie there with my eyes closed safe in the knowledge that I am measurably reducing later feelings of exhaustion.

And when this happens, about 70% of the time the reduction of guilt and stress means I actually do fall back asleep, so all in all instead of getting only three or four hours sleep, I get five to six and a half.

Which y'know, major improvement in health and energy.
