The Spirited: Origins is an interactive fiction horror game. In TS:O you take the role of an amateur paranormal investigator who jump-starts their career with a case of a demonic entity, while being haunted by their own inner demons.

The game is entirely text-based, and driven by your choices. Create and shape your P.I.; their identity and looks, their personality, their fears. Develop relationships, take on new cases and see the impact your decisions have on the world around you.

This game is rated 18+ for mature content and graphic descriptions of violence. Themes and trigger warnings are listed in the title screen.

I never read the locked tomb series but I got into it through sheer vibes and aesthetic... The harrow nova au is what actually got me further into the, well, lore and universe. I already love your necro!gideon design, like the bone accessories and her look just *chef's kiss* it's perfect!

Got any necro!Gideon headcanons? (If you're comfortable with doing that) You may info-dump if you want, I find it really helpful when understanding a person's idea for a character. (only if you want to ofc).

THANK YOU SO MUCH I HAVE REVEREND DAUGHTER GIDEON NAV ON THE BRAIN! Sit down with me while we talk, okay: First of all, she's an asshat, like, just straight up a bag of dicks. She's cocky, she's a show off, she thinks her shit don't stink. She's entitled, abrasive, MEAN, and above all else very VERY competitive. Physically she's a wet little chicken bone, with greyed out skin and dull hair. She did all her piercings herself (shocker), and she implanted bone into her own neck! Half for defense, half for it looking badass as hell. She also files her teeth so they're sharp af, which is great for looking like an abomination but the scars all over her lips and tongue will tell you not to do it yourself. She keeps a chain of teeth, fingers, and other misc. bone fragments around her neck for easy access for constructs, and she'll stim with it mindlessly while she's bored or thinking. She keeps three or four skulls on her waist for bigger constructs, sometimes she snaps off their teeth when she's in a particularly bad mood. She doesn't usually dress up in her full garbs with the skeleton hand shoulder pads, bone crown, veil and capes -- it's usually just for formalities and special occasions. Kept the idea of those braces on her fists, though I thought it would be cool to implement them into her gloves so she can wolverine at will. She's creepy, she's conceited, and she's seemingly always dissatisfied. She keeps Nova on her toes for sure (threatening). IDK i just think shes really neat, wish we could've gotten more of her in the books U - U

the idea that ike decays intrigues me. what does that mean, and how does it work? can a person absorb ike, and if so, what would happen if it decayed within them?

Ike Decay

Yep a fun topic. Let’s just define a few terms first…

Magical weight - Ike is massless. Magical weight is a measure of the number of fractions that a simple component contains. This increases it’s instability and likelihood to decay.

Fractions - The Quanta of Ike. They make up simple components.

Weight

In large magical events such as a god dying, Ike is released in such a high density with such high energy that it can sometimes undergo a fusion equivalent and form higher weight components.

Higher weight components are more unstable and likely to decay.

The Process

So in decay, a simple component splits into two lower weight components and gives out very high energy fractions.

So magical decay occurs naturally and randomly. The ‘half-life’ is shortest in components with more weight (still hundreds of years) but there are things you can do to speed up the process.

If you try to cast a very unstable component (high weight) you have to be very careful on how you are using it so that it doesn’t decay before you can complete the spell. Manipulating the component can trigger a decay if you are not careful

If you are trying to get a high weight component to bond to other Ike you usually needed very special conditions or a very receptive component to bond it with (very low weight) so it doesn’t give out too many fractions and decay.

If you manage to get a high weight component to absorb as normal it will then decay as it is cast, releasing energy that is used to enact the spell. e.g. transferred to Kinetic to start a fire. In this case the decay products would be emitted from the physical thing back into the air.

Can a person absorb Ike? Can it decay in them?

Ok so there are two ways in which Ike can interact with someone’s body.

First is if they are a sorcerer or god and have their own Ike store. In this case their Ike is highly unlikely to decay because any unstable Ike would have already decayed in the process of the Ike binding to their soul as an infant. If their Ike does at any point decay naturally it will be such a small amount that it is really inconsequential and it will happen when they cast with it, at which point the Ike has already left their body.

Secondly you could absorb Ike if something has been casted on you. For example if someone was trying to set you on fire you would absorb strands of Ike associated with fire.

For higher weight components like the soul, decay is more likely, but this again would just decay in the person and the energy released within that decay would be channeled into the spell. Any decay products would just be emitted from your skin.

Because the energy from decay is added to the simple component’s energy higher weight components can be much more powerful than some lower weight components.

Gideon Nav is kinda the funniest narrator of all time bc she will straight up tune out during world building lore or explanations of magic system stuff bc she dgaf but no matter how DIRE the circumstances are she will, every time she's in the same room as Coronabeth, take a moment to mention how unbelievably hot she is. Gideon literally is like "Issac was SCREAMING about how somebody was dead and also more importantly, I saw Coronabeth in a swimsuit and got so hard I got nauseous. 👍 Haha... but someone was probably dead though 😐 for sure."

Bonus lore/notes below!

Tried to ride either of his Kaithes (Nexus and Vapra), falls down gracefully every time (I should draw that but I'm too lazy rn)

Said Kaithes were given by my Drifter herself, Bombastine never said thank you but obviously kept them around for 'status'.

His poisonous arm has also antidote but he can't control that... yet.

Oh yeah, one whiff from his poison or injected into the body someone's gonna be dead.

Believe it or not, Bombastine has a dagger. Same dagger that Eurie used to... cut open an about-to-be Void Angel corpse. (Art here /tw violence though)

This is very sweet- I am afraid I'm not in the fandom to be familiar with AUs, but dragons are always a favorite pick amongst reimaginings. There happens to be only one true dragon in this particular story... but I can show you the Todoroki's now that I have them finished- (I plotted them as a unit)

Dabi was the lynchpin design-and his family was built around him! They are all creatures of reincarnation, but with various meanings.

Canon Touya threw around some choice words about being reborn as Dabi. The way he seems mentally stuck to his childhood felt like a Phoenix who can't (or perhaps won't) allow himself to grow beyond a certain point, doomed to repeat his self-destruction. Like the other AU villains though - he's a little more morally grey in this story.

Firebird (Slavic) are often harbingers of either good fortune, doom- or unattainable goals in their tales. If that doesn't sound like Endeavor I'm not sure what does. They differ from phoenix in which they are 'always on fire', but they don't self immolate - they're just 'built like that'.

Tsurara onna (icicle woman) are created from the loneliness of single men during the winter time. When a man gazes longingly at a strong, beautiful icicle, they may appear. They disappear in the summer, and may reappear in winter. The love stories invariably end in tragedy. Considering Rei's dynamic to Enji, it felt fitting.

A Snegurochka (Russian- Snow Maiden) the fairytales often echo tsurara onna, of maiden that melts due to "shenanigans" (not always tied to love stories). 

Simurgh (Persian) is more of a reach - you can really dive into their different lore and variations, but they are similar to phoenix in which they also immolate to reincarnate after a very long time. They have connections to both fire and water.

There's no myth creature equivalent of both fire and ice. Yet in canon, Shoto is the only one who doesn't provide himself a hero title. His name is his identity. So- he's the only "undefined" creature. There's a number of myths you could read him as if you wanted (he doesn't care).

... Dabi's pheonix fire also plays into forming the character Juzo (Not that anyone asked- this is reaaaaaaaallly reaching into the semantics on the yliaster, or prima materia that forms the philosophers stone- which mentions pheonix fire purification as a metaphor... ah don't worry about it).

Gashadokuro's are the scariest creature I could think of for a nomu.
