Will someone please tell me if any of these series have lesbians
(in regards to this post)
Of the two web serials featured in that meme:
Pale Lights, by erraticerrata one of its 2-4 protagonists is a lesbian. There hasn't been much in the way of romance for her yet, but the series is pretty early on, and also romance-light. One of the other female protagonists is possibly bisexual, and the male protagonist is ace. Pale Lights is about new recruits to an elite god-hunting organization in a gunpowder-and-sail era world that is also entirely within a massive cavern full of strangeness. Ongoing
Twig, by wildbow umm. ok. so how do I put this. It has ambiguously bisexual girls in an situationship? It got a lot of submissions to a yuribait poll tournament. Also in the main cast is a trans girl. I cannot in good consciousness recommend this on the basis of lesbianism, but I do like it. Twig is about a group of child lab experiments/field agents of a biopunk empire. Complete
Other web serials that may be of interest to you!
A Practical Guide to Evil, by erraticerrata Protagonist is a bisexual woman, and almost all of her romantic interests are other women. PGTE has my favorite slowburn romance of all time. Also in the main cast are (at least) two more bi women, and an aroace man (there are more queer characters depending on how you define main cast). In a medieval fantasy world where narrative tropes have metaphysical weight, a new group of villains begin fighting smarter to overcome their narrative disadvantage. Forty years later, a teenage girl from a conquered country, seeing how heroes have failed, chooses to become the Squire of the empire's Black Knight. Tagline: Do Wrong Right Complete
Katalepsis, by HY Lesbian protagonist, largely lesbian supporting cast, including a couple trans women. Lots of romance, including an expanding polycule. A young woman tries to rescue her twin sister, who was erased from reality as a child by an eldritch entity. Tagline: A web serial of cosmic horror, urban fantasy, and making friends with strange people Ongoing, almost finished (with the first "book"/major overarching plotline)
Necroepilogos, by HY I think literally the entire cast of this one is queer women (including at least one trans woman) having homoerotic moments with each other all the time. A bioengineered supersoldier wakes millennia after her death to find the world a wasteland, populated by women resurrected from across history who must now kill each other to live. Tagline: Lost girls in the ashen afterword Ongoing
PGTE/Pale Lights and Katalepsis/Necroepilogos would be my primary recommendations. Some other webserials:
Some of wildbow's other serials have more lesbians than Twig, but it comes with caveats: Worm (and its sequel Ward) are, uh, controversial for how they handle lesbians. Pale is much better, but I'm also only 1/3 of the way through so I can't vouch for it entirely. Pact has a single important lesbian character.
I lost interest and didn't finish Heretical Edge, but it does have a poly lesbian protagonist.
Time to Orbit: Unknown is not particularly lesbian in specific, but it is largely queer and genderqueer.
Another option of thing I read is quests and original/fan fiction on the forum site Sufficient Velocity. The downside here is that they mostly have really irregular update schedules (unlike the above serials, which update 1-2 times a week on a fixed day) and are prone to being abandoned. I'd recommend looking at how often/recently thy update before starting. With that caveat, some titles with lesbian (or bisexual) females leads and queer romance: Petals of Titanium, The Last Daughter, Lieutenant Fusilier in the Farthest Reaches, Castles of Steel, On the Road to Elspar, Mercy (and Other Costly Mistakes), Pound the Table, and A Little Vice

got caught up on necroepilogos after a two day binge and i really enjoyed it! it inherited most of the problems of katalepsis (endlessly ballooning cast, lack of stakes, and wibbly wobbly pacing) but they were much smaller roadblocks with necroepilogos. part of it is probably that hard science fantasy with a unique premise captivates me more than urban dark fantasy. also the characters are just stronger in necroepilogos. i'm kind of obsessed with all of the original seven zombies. def worth checking out if the opening blurb grabs you

what is this unfinished serial 👀 ← currently collecting recs I'll realistically never finish. why is the flower that bloomed nowhere so long
Mmm there's a lot of books I truly truly love. JWQS, Pact, ORV come to mind in terms of beloved books that bring me to tears whenever i reread them.
But there's only two web serials that completely rewrote my brain chemistry. One is obviously Worm, which i'm still obsessed about 3 years later, made a tumblr for, and have tried my best to collect as much fanart for as possible.
The other is Necroepilogos, a truly mind blowing scifi novel that I'm in total agony over the fact that it's approximately 1/3rd finished. I'll attach my slightly pretentious teaser/recommendation beneath this on my sideblog haha. I really hope more people can discover this serial & support it!

Maybe I'm coming at this from a published-lit perspective, but it feels weird to me to count something as "completely read" when it's not even completely written yet. I don't even count an unfinished trilogy as read if I've read the published books.
Also, I feel like Necroepilogos and Cordyceps are in a very different genre from Dungeon Keeper Ami and Prophecy Approved Companion.
Makin has updated his webfic bingo card. Here's mine!
Tumblr media
My own stuff is somewhat overrepresented here, anything with a little white square (probably a missing font on my end) is something that I wrote. I think you should get more points for that, personally. Yellow is "I read to the in-progress point and do plan to read to current at some point, eventually, no I'm not lying here" and red is "I don't plan to ever pick this up again, if I'm being honest".
You can definitely see how the amount of stuff that I've actually read has waned over the years. I've mostly been reading either non-fiction or trad-published stuff, and while the occasional story catches my eye, it's also the case that I've just been more focused on writing than on reading.
If I wanted to get a bingo, it seems like 2011-2012 would be the easiest, since it would mean continuing to not read Homestuck. On the other hand, the far right column would mean reading Planecrash, which is on the TBR list, and I have actually started (though not gotten far enough to consider yellow). Once this has more data, I'm curious what the "canon" will look like, those works which are most often green, since this is a better way to get information than just having a single person sit down to figure out what community consensus is.

My favourite 2023 media: year round-up
In no meaningful order. Not putting anything I'd rank 3/7 or lower because I don't feel like being negative rn.
For context with the way I do rankings:
A 4 is what almost everything gets, that's just 'it was good, I liked it.' Anything 4 or higher gets my recommendation.
On the lower side of that, 3 is 'I liked it, but it had issues that prevent me from recommending it,' and 2 is 'I had basically no opinion on it, it didn't change my life at all/was forgettable.'
To get a 5, something has to set a new high bar for me. To get a 6, it has to be so good that I don't think I'll ever see something that matches it (within it's genre/medium) ever again, or something I think is like, universally awesome/'the best of the best'
1 and 7 are special, and more about my opinion than their quality. A 1 is something I hated so much that I wish I hadn't seen it. A 7 is something that I can't stop thinking about because it makes me feel in a whole new way.
Rankings
Armoured Core 6 (video game) - There are very few games I've beaten. There are significantly fewer games I've beaten twice. I beat Armoured Core 3 times just to see extra story. 7/7
Frieren (anime/manga) - read both the manga and watched the anime, very good. 6/7
Jujutsu Kaisen S2 (anime) - It's a bit meh, but the animation is so good I have to give it a 5/7 - it's worth watching just for that.
The Eminence in Shadow S2 (anime) - Utterly trashy. I love it. 4/7.
Undead Unluck (anime) - Like it quite a bit. 4/7.
Call of the Night (anime) - I watched through this twice, and it totally took over my brain. 7/7.
Pale (web serial) - finally came to an end after years. This story was such a big part of my life for so long, I don't think I could give it less than a 7/7.
Katalepsis (web serial) - This story gave me a new kind of dysphoria I didn't know existed /pos. 7/7
WataMote (manga) - the first time I've experienced 'cringe comedy' and actually enjoyed it. The MC is sadly relatable. 5/7. Couldn't get into the anime.
I'm In Love With the Villainess (anime) - Enjoyable. I think it has a lot of potential it's not using, but there's nothing wrong with what it is doing. 4/7
Slay the Princess (visual novel) - I have basically no experience with visual novels, but I could tell this was something special. 5/7
Pale Lights (web serial) - amazing writing as always from EE. This is currently a 6/7 because I just love this author's style and stories
MTG Pauper Format (trading card game) - got into this recently, it's the most fun I've had playing magic ever. 5/7.
The Great S1 (TV show) - hilarious. Haven't watched the new seasons. 4/7
The Scholomance Series (novels) - awesome depiction of a magical school, fun writing, brutally hilarious. 5/7.
Necroepilogos (web serial) - a setting I thought wouldn't work, but it totally did. 5/7, but could definitely get a 6/7 in hindsight - it's so imaginative and unique that I could go either way.
The Witch From Mercury S2 (anime) - I really liked it, although not as much as the first season. Ik people have problems with it, but I'd still give it a 4/7.
There's a notable lack of TTRPGs on this list, and that's because I've been mostly just playing a fantasy system me and my partner have been working on. In 2024 I'd like to get to a few films and shows I missed, as well as play more new TTRPGs.

skill issue
what?
no, seriously, what the fuck in this chapter was "guro hentai bullshit", they just had a fistfight with some (mostly one-sided?) sexual tension, and then drank a little bit of the other's blood
how did that put you off, but you were fine with earlier chapters including a) lovingly detailed descriptions of cracking skulls open to remove and eat the brains and b) pov from the serial killer who is really into how everyone looks covered in blood and keeps thinking touch me rake me penetrate my skin about her friend's claws
this web serial might as well be subtitled Lesbian Cannibal Zombies of the Post-Apocalypse, what did you expect

binged through Necroepilogos over two wild and wacky days of being real sick and stuff. good stuff! It has revealed to me the way to make, like, that whole character concept of like. Good Commanders, i'm a good boy and I give good orders, I'm Not Like Other State Military Personnel. type character. the way you make that work is you just make it the personal sex thing of a lesbian with something deeply wrong with her. which shouldn't be surprising and it's also just Written Well but. it's good!
anyway I like all the characters but to single something else out to say. Kagami is very good. she would have been great on Tumblr, or perhaps in some manner of Danganronpa situation
