I can't believe that Gosho introduced such a mysterious character, with a very compelling relationship to the two main characters, with a very interesting personality and such. And he just went, "Yeah anyway, you'll see her only very rarely. Now, have a look at Amuro, his dead boyfriends, and his very fixable situationship with Akai for the 25th time"
#by the way i enjoy amuro as a character but like i need more about other characters you know he even got like two spinoff series#i don't hate his involvement in the story i just wish gosho would focus on character he introduced previously#like vermouth's backstory will probably come with the boss of the organisation but jesus christ literally get moving#and yeah those other dead boyfriends are tied to other characters but you could have put it earlier and managed it better ough#but also for once he was supposed to show me amuro since he discovered shinichi's identity he went anyway new movie promo!#vermouth please come back#please show up and kill someone#detective conan#dcmk posting

Heishin fic recs
Not quite a rec and more to me succumbing to an urge to draw fanart for the one that inspires me. Been reading fics for a long time and i figured i should do something to celebrates the authors ^_^ <3 take this as a love letter for the heishin writers community.
please check them out and if you do please leave nice comments and kudos for me
total of 5 fic fanarts under the cut:
Closet confession by FightTheHorn (1.3k | rated T)
Short and sweet. Heiji gets locked up with Shinichi in a closet and Heiji uses the opportunity to confess he likes to be tied up. Heiji is super open and honest here.... lowkey wish author wrote a sequel for this
A Matter of Deduction by calysto1395 (10.8k | rated G)
Heishin amnesia trope, this sentence alone should be a hook line sinker. Domestic yet angsty. I love when fics let you live in one of the detectives mind and see how their deduction brain work <3 This is a no brainer but I'm crazy about any of calysto's heishin future aus
I would do anything for you, even sacrifice myself by just_yeole_cryptid ( 1.7k | no archive warning )
Murder boyfriends. Heiji kills and Shinichi covers for him. This fic got me so bad I'm in desperate need more of this concept. Two people with an unbeatable moral compass, breaking their ideals for each other's sake.... peak romance
Eyes on Me by NightFoliage ( 3.6k | rated T )
Detectives goes undercover in a fun disguise, my favourite trope ^_^ Heishin goes undercover in an idol audition, with a dash of outside perspective. Whipped Shinichi who is very generous with complimenting Heiji in his head :)c
boys will be boys by AngelicSentinel (1.2k | rated T)
Follow Shinichi's thought process before he succumbs to a sudden impulse. Capture heishin's playful boyish charm :')
#tw blood#heishin#dcmk#my art#if you got more fic recs pls put them in the reply. even spanish chinese jp etc are fine i'll just MTL them 😭

Bringing up kaiju posting because ily best friend whom drags me to watch the whole trilogy of Gamera and then made the insane point of like that one of the movies with Iris (they are my favorite kaiju aside from Yongary which I’m not number one fan that’s my again friend who takes that title lol) which they have a whole waves hand emoji the Fourth Symbols aka the south and north right which is Iris and Gamara right right
So I yapped about heiji and shinichi being the west and east and my friend pointed out that legitimately like yknow in the movie itself and I’m like omg. Then evily enough a au was cooking in my head
Walk with me
Heiji being the guardian “beast” aka kaiju of the west while Shinichi being the guardian “beast” of the east, which both of them having how they look human forms while how they actually look like is big ass monsters that can level cities and lands. Funny enough even in human forms they can use their abilities like example heiji can spear you with his arms bc it can morph into retractable sword-like arms and shinichi can blow you up aka plasma beam go. Which yay body horror!!! (They don’t do it a lot bc gotta blend in)
Which one is labeled the savior/destructor in rumor/myth wise,
Which to be fair they are somewhat have their purposes being guardians, technically both are their to stop the other if they go rampant which one of them did which resulted to be sealed away until re awaken. WHICH there’s magatama bs which are tied to use holder they can communicate with each other and feel the same pains, emotions etc! Which comes with pros and cons bc let’s say you don’t have your emotions in check which influence/appears on the guardian. Meaning heiji and shinichi are old ass kaijus and the original holders are Ran and Kazuha, so being with them did bloom their personalities and etc who they are now .
Which unfortunately blinded hatred along those which builds up the link so lol funny enough shinichi holder was Ran while Heiji was Kazuha in this au. What happened to them erm…they died! Because if one of them like rampage and morphed into their true form well is a bad time so the magatama has a fail save state or whatever is called which does seal away heiji or shinichi completely only detail is the holder will completely die thumbs up emoji which in this au both of them took that decision and so heiji and shinichi are in their own magatamas in their own shrines hidden away somewhere in the east and west.
Until a certain phantom thief is on about lol which unfortunately looking information about gems and etc. stumbles about certain stones that are “magical” so Kaito sets out to look for them funny enough thinking oh is Pandora, buddy your in a surprised. He does finds one of the shrines legitimately abandoned and over grown but he sees the “stone” which is shaped like a magatama? Which is station between a tiger statue mouth inside the shrine which he legitimately takes and checks it out, funny enough he does this in a full moon to yknow check, which unknowingly to Kaito he “unfortunately” re awaken the most “destructive” guardian which is the beast of the west. So kaito is outside looking but he’s like dejected bc is not it (he was aiming for the east gem but there isn’t a lot of info) so when he turns around to like put it back he is instantly with Heiji who is legit way to close to Kaito which are face to face and internally screeches, aside from awaking said kaiju he’s now the new host so everything kaito feels heiji feels it too, which Heiji just says to him “where’s kazuha” with the most blanked and deadpaning stare ever at Kaito.
But waves hand around getting beamed into the magatama legitimately is the last thing they remember for both aka heiji and shinichi even more before they morph into their true forms lol so heiji last memory is something kazuha was pissed about something then is blank for him and for shinichi is the feeling of I need to stop heiji before he levels city’s and unnecessary murder people which he tells to Ran lol.shinichi and heiji are connected to each other so they can feel where they are if they are awaken if they are sealed is very muted.
Which to be fair for Kaito it sucks balls to be a holder because his poker face and ig if we put his emotions he repressed hell and back it’ll legitimately be reflected by heiji. Which is kinda bad yes heiji and shinichi are their own person and have their own personalities but they are not yknow human so the magatama’s are in a sense a tool to be in tune with them and insane control them anyway Imagine Kaito wants to cry his eyes out but he won’t bc poker face while next to him you got heiji instantly crying tears and all but he himself is normal feeling lmao. Idk who will awaken shinichi im like thinking about on who but shrugs it’ll change bc i had more funny enough kaito and heiji shenanigans moment.
Which I’m basing Iris = Heiji and Gamara = Shinichi because it somewhat fits, liketechnically speaking heiji isn’t super yknow angry person like yes he can be heated and bullheaded and etc but yknow not the super mega hateful person what Iris got influenced by hatred and etc bc ha born and raised ish by one of that characters in the movie and ik the name Iris comes from the character dead cat and stuff PLUS the whole i want Gamara dead
Which to be fair is so funny like heiji seeing shinichi after like 1000 plus years and awaken at modern times, omgies hi shinichi waves hand around bright ass hell grinning n etc
like ok I thought you guys hated each other eye rolls
Anyway the kaiju design are so 100% based on the bad bitches that is Iris and Gamara mix my friend also said that I can mix shinichi design with the legitimate not godzilla whatsoever Gomera, which fun fact my ass thought was Gamera the yknow the big turtle that was being reference but I was so wrong lmaooo
#dcmk#detco#dcmk au#dcmk posting#kudo shinichi#hattori heiji#kaito kuroba#ran mouri#kazuha toyama#you can see I’m sooo normal about this au like I’m a normal fan of kaiju which is influenced by my best friend#the influence is from the movies itself but with my own spin to it lol#this is legitimately playing with my toys rn#you can say its ship intended but I won’t tag it lol you can read with the lence if ya want bc idk if I wanted with the intention#how the info dump of the idea to a snip of a fic moment is soo funny to me lmao#not related but I do hc shinichi/conan being a kaiju fan deadass which 100% influence by my irl best friend and that he doesn’t show it lol#anyway I get all my evil info from said best friend which ily ufo but I did watched the movies lol which I got to them into detco-#with the episode that are related with gomera lol I key jingle them as they do to me with some stuff lmaoaoao#congratulations if ya read it completely if it interests ya 100% feel free ask questions or play evil toys with me I’m so normal about them

HAIBARA MOVIE!
Kir T-T She tried to save the woman but Gin is a bitch. It's good he didn't hear her though,
Not even minutes and he's already looking adorable!
And Ai is the sweetest girl in the world. She has seen so much cruelty and she still chooses to be nice T-T
I'm sure Agasa's inventions won't be anything important in the movie at all :p (He deserves so much more credit for his inventions).
Sonoko is also really nice and I adore her! She made sure Ai got her good karma in return for her own kindness towards the old woman.
Awww Akai is such a good dad, making sure that Shinichi and Ai stay safe. He's already an approvement on Shinichi's actually parents.
I was about to complain that Shinichi didn't mention the women of the BO but I didn't realise it was because he was revealing the info about their codenames. I didn't realise all the distilled liquor belong to the men of the org.
I feel so bad for Ran. She was shaking while she said this because her father couldn't even resist not drinking for a morning to join the trip.
Shinichi... You really just hitched a ride on the police boat because you can't leave anything alone T-T
Wow, he's actually acting the role of a child pretty well. Why can't he do this all the time?
He loves being complimented for his intelligence T-T
Shinichi should be sweating bullets right now with this technology.
Ever since how Shinichi counts has been relevent in a case, it's used all the time XD
And Amuro and Vermouth have shown up. This can't be good.
WHOOP! The secret it "out". And both Vermouth and Bourbon are scared for Shinichi (and Ai for Amuro, I guess).
Lmao yeah I guess the system would also be bad for the BO. Perhaps it's better it doesn't exist.
Camel magically grew back his hair (I know it's because this movie was in development way before that moment it's just funny).
Why are they playing this as a joke when it's devestating that they're made to deal with this.
I do appreciate Shinichi giving the kids hints instead of just telling the answer straight out and when he was struggling to give them a better one, Ai jumped in to help T-T
...Why aren't you telling Ai? I fucking HATE how the don't include her in the discussion when it's really imporant for her to be so.
THIS WAS SO CUTE. Okay they redeemed themselves slighty, but I would still love for her to included in discussions.
AI MADE SURE AYUMI WAS COVERED IN A BLANKET EVEN AS SHE'S FEARING FOR HER OWN LIFE AND TRYING TO RUN.
RAN!
OH MY GOD I WAS NOT EXPECTING THAT AND I AM SO EXCITED.
Okay but now the org know Ran knows about them (she saw them kidnap a little girl) and she FUCKING FOUGHT THEM AGAIN. She. Should. Know. Because at this point they will kill her.
She is at her breaking point with him. I hope that broke a couple of ribs.
SHINICHI IS NOT GIVING UP ON AI T-T HE JUST DIVED OFF A CLIFF AND INTO THE OCEAN TO CHASE AFTER THEM.
Hearing Agasa cry is making me want to cry T-T SHE'S HIS FAMILY.
One very pissed off and very dangerous little boy.
HE'S SO ANGRY AND UPSET WITH HIMSELF AND WORRIED FOR AI OH MY GOD T-T
AI T-T
MY GOD THIS MOVIE HAS DONE MORE FOR AI IN THE PAST FEW MOMENTS THAN THE SERIES HAS DONE FOR HER IN A LONG TIME!
I love Kir noticing the bug and not doing anything about it T-T And I know that knot has been tied properly. The women are being treated well in this movie.
Awww, they're all protecting the children from the truth.
And Amuro has given Shinichi the info he needs to fuck shit up.
Kogoro is being treated like a nuisance this movie as well and I am all here for it even if the movies usually write him better.
Ai has always been so kind T-T
AI AND AKEMI T-T
But that explains why Ai was on her computer.
She has a dog? Can she get anymore perfect?
Can someone throw Kogoro out? Or bring back the Kogoro from the previous movie? Please?
You know what I also like? Vodka feels like an actual threat instead of the side goon.
My heart is breaking.
KIR! SHE'S DOING WHAT SHE CAN! I LOVE THE WOMEN IN THIS MOVIE!
And Gin has arrived.
Gin at this moment: My long hair and hat look awesome but damn they don't make a helicopter landing easy.
KIR IS THE MVP OF THIS MOVIE MY GOD I LOVE HER. She's hitting Gin where it hurts to give them more time. She has her mission, she said she'd never compromise it, but she won't let two innocents die in vain.
Shinichi internally: Get fucked Gin.
I FUCKING ADORE THEM.
I ADORE THEM AS WELL.
Vermouth saving Ai for a change. If only because she knows if they found the truth about her, they'd find the truth about Shinichi.
He adopted that expression from Kaito.
I don't know why I'm surprised to hear deep fake in Detective Conan.
Okay, Gosho, movie writers, women can have adam apples. Ran's bruise was enough to identify the man
SHE GETS TO BE AWESOME TWICE IN ONE MOVIE?! I LOVE THIS.
Lol but Shinichi, you wouldn't have been able to catch Ran in your normal body, you have not trained your arm muscles.
LOVE IT. BOTH OF THEM ARE IN DANGER.
AND HE IMMEDIATELY GOES TO MOCKING THE DUDE.
SHE CARES SO MUCH!
AND SHINICHI APOLOGISED TO HER! WHAT IS THIS MOVIE?! WHY IS IT WRITTEN SO WELL?! It's on par with the movie 23 because the writing is just incredible.
Amuro is worried about his son. Akai is also worried about his son.
SHINICHI HOLDING THE PHONES TOGETHER TO MAKE HIS DADS TALK IS HILARIOUS.
Awww, they put their differences aside to help their son.
Shinichi: I am down for doing something insane and dangerous.
I fucking love Vermouth fucking shit up while she's dressed in but a towel.
AND AI STILL HAS GREAT MOMENTS TO COME!
He lost everything to keep him alive and he still decided to fuck them up.
Akai earlier in the movie: A rifle won't work.
Akai's solution: I'll bring a rocket launcher.
R.I.P
And just like Shinichi wouldn't let Ai die, she won't let Shinichi die.
I ADORE THEM.
I love how Ran had a movie where she nearly drowned and Shinichi is like "hold my beer".
THIS IS SO GODDAMN ADORABLE. I see why this is the CoAi movie but I just appreciate their platonic bond with one another.
I don't appreciate the "kiss" comment, though. CPR isn't a kiss, it's to save a life.
Of course Shinichi has to show off one more time before the movie ends though.
RAN'S FIRST KISS WAS TO AI AND I LOVE IT.
Ai knows Ran is a lesbian and wanted to make sure she has her first kiss with a girl.
This really wasn't needed, especially because Ai didn't kiss Shinichi. She just wanted Ran's lips before him.
And Shinichi wasn't even that upset about it. He just looked confused with her XD
So the disguises that Vermouth and Kaito can create would fool the AI. Interesting.
AND IT BROUGHT BACK AI'S ACTIONS FROM THE START OF THE FILM WITH IT BEING VERMOUTH!
This movie was great. It's tied with number 23.

Hi there!! I'm so thrilled to hear your thoughts on this topic too! This is actually my first time sending an ask, and since English isn't my first language, please forgive my dry tone or if some of my sentences seem confusing in anyway 😭
Anyway, back to the topic. I only recently learned about the long list of APTX 4869 victims. Previously, I thought the victims were just Haneda Kohji, Amanda, Mary, Shinichi, and Shiho. While it’s true that APTX 4869 was tested on many others, most of them seem to have died (I think?) and Shinichi and Sherry are the only and two latest known survivors of APTX 4869, plus the key point is that Gin and the boss were aware that Shinichi and Sherry were still alive, yet they still gave the drug to Mary. This makes me believe that they didn’t intend for Mary to die either.
About familial genes, I admit my knowledge on that topic is very shallow, and I honestly don't know much about it so I completely agree with your perspective. Also, don’t worry—you understood my points perfectly. I just suck at biology I’m sorry 😭😭😭
As for the idea of ensuring a direct connection to Sherry through family ties, I actually thought the same as you. Sherry is emotionally unpredictable, so it's hard to predict how she might react. And yes, it’s very juicyy that Sherry herself knows that Gin understand her better than anyone else. Let me elaborate:
Gin’s ability to recognize Sherry from a strand of hair or her presence alone suggests he knows her down to the smallest details—possibly even the sound of her breathing. Initially, I thought this detail was exaggerated, but then I remembered how my mom can recognize whose hair is whose in our house. When she sees a messy strand, she scolds me, and I always ask, “How do you know it’s mine?” She’ll respond, “I can just tell!”
This makes me wonder if Gin could have been the person the Boss assigned to care for Sherry when she was young. After all, her parents passed away when she was just born, and her older sister was only about six or seven at the time. The organization likely wouldn't have left the sisters alone to care for each other. Their goal in raising Sherry was for her to continue her parents' research. To achieve that, the organization would’ve needed to carefully nurture her scientific potential. Japan, known for cultivating young geniuses, would likely have had a structured process in place.
The boss would have had to assign Sherry’s upbringing to a highly trusted member. Judging from the personalities of the Organization members we know so far, aside from Vermouth, only Gin stands out as meticulous, calm, and reliable enough for this task. And since the Organization’s priority was her scientific training, teaching Sherry to use weapons or fight wouldn’t have been necessary. An obedient Sherry who couldn’t defend herself would have been easier to control. However, Sherry turned out to be a skilled shooter (as shown in Volume 18, File 178), and it’s likely Gin was the one who trained her. His shooting skills must be on par with Akai’s.
Even as a child, Sherry shows fear whenever she senses the presence of BO. She once mentioned they knew what she looked like as a child. But, interestingly, in similar scenarios, Mouri and Doctor Agasa didn’t immediately recognize Shinichi when he was shrunk. This implies that even if Sherry met some Organization members when she was young, those encounters would have been rare because each member had different missions. Many of them may not have even met her.
From this, it seems that the one person Sherry feared recognizing her child form—the person who had been with her throughout her life and could identify her by a single strand of hair—was Gin.
I hadn’t considered the possibility that Mary and Gin might be siblings, as I remember Mary is about 20 years older than Gin. That’s why I lean more toward the theory that Mary is Gin’s mother. The thought of people speculating about their possible relationship cracks me up every single time—it’s such a wild idea, but it would be entertaining for sure 😂
And also, I’ve often wondered, like you, why Shinichi and Sherry haven’t been caught yet despite the immense risks they’ve taken. It’s important to remember that BO and Gin aren’t our usual murderers (I'd be happy to explain this if you're intrigued ^^). The only and most plausible explanation might lie in Sherry’s antidote.
Thank you so much for discussing these fascinating, brain-exploding theories with me. I’m genuinely happy to share thoughts on many interesting topic. Have a great day!
Hi again anon! Bit of a late reply but yesterday was really busy fjdjgfj
Also, no worries about your English, it's great! And welcome to the non-native speakers gang hell yeah <3333
CW: brief mentions of grooming in general, and implications of SA in regards to Gin and Sherry (whether we like it or not, the subtext is unfortunately there).
I'll admit, I hadn't considered the possibility of Gin being Shiho's sole "caretaker" while she grew up, but considering the fact that (based on what little she lets slip about her life before taking the APTX) it pretty much feels like she may have been meticulously groomed to fill her position as Sherry ever since she was a child, it does kind of make sense that there'd be someone she was "assigned" to.
Gin being the one Shiho is most terrified of, despite the fact that Vermouth is also right there and pretty much seems to have beef with all of the Miyanos (not to say she's not scared of Vermouth, but I'm fairly sure Gin has her beat on Shiho's fear scale), could imply a slew of pretty fucked up things aside from the usual "this guy will hunt traitors down personally and shoot them in the head". Because yes, that's scary, but every codenamed BO member is capable of it. Some of them even take pleasure in killing people, just like Gin seems to.
The fact that Shiho has this visceral of a reaction only when Gin specifically is brought up (or is nearby) could be indicative of much worse things having happened to her when she was young, and although there is no actual confirmation of this (and there will most likely never be), it really can't be denied that the subtext hinting at it exists, whether that's intentional or not.
Alternatively, it could be because she associates with Gin most of her memories as a BO member: as those have been a very taxing 18 years culminating in the loss of her sister (at the hands of Gin himself, even), she may have somehow pushed everything she'd so far repressed onto Gin (if we still operate on the assumption that he either pretty much raised her or was a supervisor she had to spend time with on the regular), hence the spike in fear regarding him only and the disproportionate gap between that and the amount of fear she experiences when detecting other BO members. I'm not quite sure that's possible from a psychological standpoint, but brains are very weird, so maybe it is.
Admittedly, my knowledge of canon information regarding Gin is a bit lacking, so he might really be too young to be Mary's brother (although we do have a 15 years gap between Masumi and Shuuichi, so maybe we could reach 20 with the platinum blonds if we believe in the heart of the cards /silly), but it's just too funny of a possibility for me to completely discard it. I believe in the Cain Instinct Theory <3
Thank you so much for sharing all these thoughts with me! I'd love to hear more— whether through asks or DMs, either is fine with me, but pick whichever you're more comfortable with—, I love yapping about detco as you can probably tell djsjfkdkf
And a great day to you too💚

Kaishin Reveal and What It Means For You
Okay I need everyone to keep their shit together because I think this is being blown out of proportion. What follows is a quick rant about what the hell is going in the DCMK fandom and what is going on in fandom in general cause I don’t know why I’m seeing so many people lose their shit over something that was most likely going to happen followed by a quick lesson by a ‘fandom elder’ on how to ignore canon and make a ship your own.
Spoilers ahead and whatnot.
April 11th the DCMK 27 movie came out and information was revealed about how Kaito Kuroba and Shinichi Kudou are now cousins. Twitter lost its mind, Tumblr lost its mind, Discord servers are being created and now everyone is wondering what the hell should they do.
I’m going to be honest, if you are a creator for KaiShin, please don’t delete your work.
Either archive it or orphan it but please don’t delete it.
You put time and effort into this, into something you love, and just because the mangaka is so SO set in his ways of every single ship being friends to lovers does not mean you have to follow the same format. This doesn’t make you an incest shipper or whatever, it doesn’t make you a person who you don’t want to be, it’s just something that you had no idea of knowing was going to happen and I hope that you can look back at it fondly.
Anyways, for those enjoying Kaishin on the sidelines all I’m going to say is Pick a Lane.
Ignore Canon
If you are an old time shipper then this may not be new for you. I mean Gosho literally had another ship that turned out to be cousins like at this point it’s ‘who is my cousin’ being played in the entire Detective Conan manga. You either already guessed it, are an active incest shipper (hi, hello, tis a me) or you are used to your favourites dying. This situation is no fucking different.
Wolfwood is dead, in my head he is alive and well and treating his Plant husband right.
Sora is missing, not in my head where he is kissing Roxas and Riku and Kairi and whoever else wants to get at the sunshine of the KH universe.
Ben is dead, NOT IN MY REYLO FANFICTION.
If you are a person who actively kept up with the manga or actively kept up with the show it is possible to ignore canon because they do not suddenly go super deep into being cousins and knowing about each other. They both don’t know if they are cousins or else the jig would be up immediately and the manga would be finished. You CAN ignore canon and if Kaishin is a ship that brings you joy and just serotonin production I implore you guys to choose this lane if you still want to enjoy Kaishin.
It’s by far the healthiest option and teaches you how to curate your own fandom experience.
Alternate Universes and You
I was in the Hannibal fandom for a while and I clearly remember the ‘Hannibal is not a Cannibal’ tag on AO3. I thought it was hilarious but I would never dare to make fun of it because that is a prime example of CURATING YOUR FANDOM EXPERIENCE.
Here are some examples on how you can start tagging:
Not Cousins AU
Kaito and Shinichi aren’t family
No Family Relation AU
Pre Kaishin reveal
Or just make a quick blurb of how you mean this drawing/fic to be perceived. Again, this is your experience and you get to make the space you want to make. It’s up to you to make/interact with the content that makes you most comfortable. Again, if you want to delve into AU’s then that is up to you and I think it’s a pretty good lane for those who just feel weird about the whole reveal.
Stepping Away
Your moral values are your own, people, and I am in no position or even want to judge them. If you feel uncomfortable about this now, see your love for Kaishin diminishing because of the reveal or just don’t see yourself shipping Kaishin in the future then you are more than capable of measuring your response and stepping away from the ship entirely for your own health.
Is it going to be sad? Yes, but they are fictional and I recommend having an idea of what you have in your life outside of fandom that makes you happy that you can focus on as you go through this. College, work, whatever hobbies you may have taken up–hell put all your eggs into another ship that you know also brings you joy!
Do not let this dictate your day or your month or your year. This is just fandom, you don’t have to make a big statement unless asked about it, you do not have to justify your decision to anybody, curate.your.fandom.experience.
I’m going to end this with a repeat of what I just said.
This is all fictional. We are playing in a fictional sandbox where we can all make whatever we want in any capacity and as long as it is tagged correctly then nobody’s lines have to be crossed. If you just started enjoying Kaishin, find out how you still want to enjoy it or step away. If you have shipped Kaishin for a while, do the same fucking thing! The east side of the fandom is having a field day with the movie, why can’t the west have some fun too?!
I’m going to ship Kaishin (however all my reblogs will be moved to my other blog for incest-y stuff and just other content people may not vibe with in general) and hell I might just join the Kaishin Big Bang for the hell of it because I have been shipping this ship since I was 15 years old and I’m about to be 30 so….I’m staying fucking seated cause you aren’t getting me out of this chair, Aoyama, you aren’t getting me to ship Aoko with anyone other an Akako so suck on that.
Be safe, be smart and curate y’all.
#dcmk#kaishin#literally all I will say in the matter after this im going quiet again#curate your fandom experience people#BE SMART

I pretty much just zoomed through the London arc because I enjoyed it so much - one of those cases where it still holds up no matter what.
The fact that it takes place set in somewhere I know so well, with so many of the locations making me go "I know that place! I've been there!" or "I've gone past there!" and the inclusion of the Wimbledon Tennis, which I actually sort of attended once when I was still doing first aid (I'd love to go back properly one year), and even just Heathrow, which is near to where I live!
It's fun to see the characters' reactions to the weird shapes and the history of the buildings in the capital. The Gherkin! The Elephant and Castle! St Bride's! The Millennium Eye, which by this point is iconic and has been used as a landmark countless times, and as the centre point of the New Year's fireworks.
Last time I came back from London, I saw the sun setting in the middle of the Eye, even.
The case itself is one of the best, too - the twists and turns don't let up, the suspense is kept up, the switches between Conan and Shinichi, and the code itself just kept me reading because there's hardly any sense of "and now since it's the next chapter, we need to remind you what's happened before" - since it takes place over a couple or so days and they need to remind themselves what the code says, and they're sometimes wrong, it all happens naturally!
Then there's the way that tennis isn't just the setting. No, just like with football and baseball before, Gosho goes into the details of what makes a match good, and what makes it exciting. How he can use a game to give the protagonists clues, and how the players can really show their abilities and worth in a way that's keeping us thinking "that's a damn good player" but not sending it to the realm of "but I doubt anyone alive could be that good."
The player we're meant to be following is Minerva, but y'know, the fact that her rival in this case who wants Minerva to play to the best of her ability is "Demeter Bauer," a black woman, made me think of Serena Williams, someone who's also Just That Damn Good.
And then there's the confession scene, which... is so masterfully done?
It's like, any time I think "maybe I could imagine branching out and imagining one or the other of Shinichi and Ran with other people" canon comes and whacks me around the head, because. I MEAN.
"You really are a troublesome, tough case! When it's the heart of the woman one loves, how can I deduce that accurately?!"
It's just... it ties in with the Holmesian side of Shinichi (it's a reference to one of the things he says) but it's also the difference and divide between deduction as a logical aspect and love as an emotional aspect. Holmes kept himself separate from love, as is pointed out in the case, but Shinichi? Doesn't do that. He's clearly invested in also letting himself experience love, and be emotional.
And of course where deduction is logic, you can't logically deduce something emotion-based, because emotion is illogical. People still feel things no matter how unreliable the evidence is. Misunderstandings and miscommunications happen, making people do things they'd never do otherwise.
I also love the case (ha) for how Shinichi once again comes up with another iconic line in "Zero [love, in tennis terms] is where everything starts! Nothing would ever be born if we didn't depart from there! Nothing would ever be achieved!"
If anything, I feel like those are words we need to remember and remind ourselves of more often. That it doesn't matter how far you fall, or how "bad" you are - you have to start at somewhere, or you won't improve.
And that goes for relationships as well - that you can always start over. Nothing is ever truly "finished with" if you want to start again at "love."

Hi it’s the Drabble Anon again thank you and I’m glad that you like the little stories I made and it’s okay if you don’t answer or read it immediately, take as much time as you need. I made a few more stories than usual so I hope you enjoy and have a good day/night, the first is picking up from the swapover au as I dub it:
Conan frowns as he’s dropped back to Mouri’s office, pondering the events that unfolded this night; He told the police about the Labradorite mirror shattering when Kaitou Kid pulled it out of the safe which was further proven when a piece of the broken gemstone was found in the outskirts of the building and the strange man in black that appeared afterwards whom the thief escaped with. However, he didn’t mention what Kaitou Kid exclaimed out loud upon seeing him, or how Conan noticed the similarities between Phantom Magician and a certain British detective he’d met a few times. But it can’t be Hakuba, when Conan asked where he is, Inspector Nakamori said that he’s still in England, yet his hair looks so similar and even Kaitou Kid sees the resemblance. So is it a doppelgänger? If so, why act like some gentleman thief and appear out of nowhere. Conan checked the entire room and there’s no evidence of a hidden door or any of that sort anywhere. It’s as if he appeared out of nowhere like magic..
No! Magic doesn’t exist at all, it must be some trick! Yet there’s too many loose threads and disconnected puzzle pieces to form a coherent picture. The best Conan could deduce was that pulling the Labradorite mirror out of the safe must have caused it to shatter. It was a custom safe made of tempered glass so that people can still look at it while it’s secured and safe but why would anyone resort to such an extreme measure to ensure that Kaitou Kid doesn’t get his hands on it?
Sighing, Conan climbs up the stairs, yawning as he announces that he’s home only for his voice to die in his throat when he saw the scene before him. He rubbed his eyes to check if it’s just his tired mind playing tricks on him but nope, there are two Rans in the office, both looking identical to the other with the exception of one having her hair tied into a low ponytail. He struggled to form words, only managing to splutter out, “Eeeh?! R-Ran-neesan? Who’s this?”
“Ah, Conan! I- well it’s kinda hard to explain!” Ran says, waving her hands around before composing herself and gesturing towards the other, “This is, well… My other me! It’s hard to believe but it’s true, she’s also Ran from another world! We agreed for her to be called Rachel for the time being. Rachel, this is Conan, the boy I talked about who lives here with me and dad.”
The other Ran, Rachel waved and was about to greet herself before blinking and narrowing her eyes at Conan, “You look a lot like Shinichi…”
Panic seized Conan’s chest, filing the fact that even their voices are exactly the same for later as he puts on his best kid impression in pure instinct, “Al-le-le?! N-no, I’m not Shinichi-niisan! I’m Conan, Edogawa Conan! Sh-Shinichi-niisan is way bigger, and I’m really, really short!!”
“I never said that you were Shinichi.” Rachel said, her eyes narrowing even more but thankfully, Ran came to the rescue, “Ah, Conan is actually a distant relative of Shinichi’s mom and Professor Agasa! That’s why he looks alike to Shinichi.”
“Huh? But…” Rachel frowns, clearly contemplating but by the grace of whatever deity is out there, she dropped it, smiling as she bent down and clasped her hands together into an apology, “I see, I’m sorry that I scared you Conan-Kun, I guess I misunderstood things.”
“It’s okay Rachel-neesan!” Conan reassured with a bright smile, mentally wheezing out in relief that his identity wasn’t blown. Thankfully it was also then that Mouri came back, announcing that he already finished setting up the rooms to sleep in for the night.
Conan immediately fell asleep due to exhaustion of the latest heist, filing all the things that happened for tomorrow for him to figure out when he woke up to voices in the office a few hours later. Tired yet intrigued, he carefully creaked open the door which was enough for him to hear the conversation.
“I’m sorry, I’m grateful for you housing me even though I’m not entirely your daughter, or I guess I’m just not the daughter you know-“
“Rachel. I don’t care what weird sci-fi magic bullcrap brought you here but no matter what universe you’re from or if you’re related to me by blood or not, you will always be my daughter and as such, you’ll always be family. Got it? And I swear to you, we will get you home no matter what, I promise.”
“.. Yeah, thanks pops. I think I needed to hear that.”
“Pops?! Why Pops?!”
Conan smiled as he closed the door and went back to sleep, leaving the two to their late night conversation.
Hi again, drabble anon!!!
I’m always here for more stories! Let’s get into it, I can’t wait!
Ha! What i find kinda disappointing about detco is their inflexibility when it comes to anything ‘supernatural’, so to be forced to accept something just isn’t… right is nice.
Honestly conan is taking this better than I expected?? I would’ve passed out if I see two version right next to each other like that lmaoo
ALSO LOVE HOW THE OTHER VERSION OF RAN IS A LOT SHARPER!! (Or at least, less in denial bc im sure canon ran should’ve known the truth by now… but that’s another story.)
Hehehe kogoro being a good dad for once that’s great. Tho I wonder how Rachel is going to act now tho, I hope she calls Conan out on his bullshit soon 👀, like she doesn’t have to clue the others on it but 👀

okay manga spoilers under the cut. content is a little nsfw, as you'd probably expect
as expected, shinichi and uzaki are dating now! it thankfully didn't take hundreds of chapters to get to this point.
thing is, though, they're kind of slow-walking things because senpai is a little easily excited and passes out from romantic physical contact. he's the one who confessed and he initiated the first kiss (then immediately passed out), but he's been kind of a passive boyfriend otherwise. they've been "training" so that he can be a little less of a sack of potatoes whenever they do couple stuff.
hana mostly doesn't mind, because she loves him a whole bunch and is used to messing with him anyway, but one day she hits him with the "we need to talk," sits him down, and asks point blank:
she got a little self-conscious that hers might be too big for him or something, because he hasn't (intentionally) touched her bazongas once. he assures her that he loves 'em, so she's like "well, you've done the ecchi manga thing a few times already, you have my permission to cop a feel"
so he does! i already posted this panel:
yep, he was holding some titty. and he doesn't pass out, which is a big step for him! but what happens next is unexpected and genuinely one of the funniest things in this otherwise perfectly serviceable manga. booba in hand, shinichi suddenly has a vision:
something's busted loose.
at night, he has a dream, and you can probably guess what it's about at first. but then, it turns into something a little more vivid, and he is confronted by the same, cliched figure:
and he's like "something drastic just happened, and you know what i'm talking about," which gives us the panel up top. shadow shinichi's basically like "hey dude, uh, i'm basically the horny version of yourself you've been keeping tied down, and you really gotta let me loose. stop being so goddamn serious. you know you both want it"
and that's kind of where the manga's at at the moment. most recently he tried consulting a monk about it, but the monk predictably didn't appreciate it

uzaki-chan manga is having a persona 4 moment

Did - um... did anyone ever ask about the Dark!Ran AU?
Oh boy. I have posted about this in my workbench, but it’s worth consolidating the ideas:
In which, in the Org’s dying throes, Karasuma tricks Ran into lying to Shinichi so he thinks the Org is completely destroyed, but in reality Karasuma and Vermouth escape. She’s torn up by guilt, and Karasuma and Vermouth continue to blackmail her, until she begins to do dirty work for them. She’s really trapped. On the outside she cuts ties with almost everyone.
The work gets dirtier and dirtier.
Shinichi tries to figure out what’s going on, but Karasuma outsmarts him; he concludes that Ran is doing this of her own volition, traumatized by the Conan stuff and the Black Org takedown. Meanwhile, Ran becomes pretty much an assassin. Her leash is short.
Ideas:
Not really sure how to swing it without going OOC, she seems more the type to fight back with every ounce of strength.
But as a teenager in a shitty home situation, she’s already vulnerable to emotional abuse and manipulation. Textbook abuse starts with isolation and devaluing of self-worth, IIRC, and leads to total control. The Conan thing makes her even more vulnerable — she doesn’t know what to believe anymore. The isolation part is practically ready-made. So from that angle I think it’s plausible, but also very dark, and IDK if I wanna do that to Ran lol.
She helps the Org because she believes that Shinichi will die otherwise: doom the bad guys or save Shinichi, and she chooses to save Shinichi. But maybe he didn't need to be saved. Maybe she knew all along that Conan was safe, and when she finds out Conan was Shinichi...
Maybe everyone knows she's to blame for the heads of the Org escaping, maybe Shinichi blames her, and that's what makes her cut ties.
Anyway, she's tied inextricably to the remnants of the Org now. They don't have her killing people right off the bat, but it's sort of a gradual slide into villany for Ran.
This was originally setup to a shippy ShinRan, but now I think it'd be more interesting to focus on the dark Ran part, with maybe rebuilding all her friendships and other relationships. In any case the chances of me actually writing this are quantumly low.

The Light in my Nightmares, T, Chapter 16
Averna has Ran as her hostage, trying to blackmail Shinichi to do what she wants him to - or otherwise, Ran is going to be as good as dead. But can Shinichi save Ran and deal with the last ghost from his past? How much it's going to cost him this time?
Prologue ~ Chapter 1 ~ Chapter 2 ~ Chapter 3 ~ Chapter 4 ~ Chapter 5 ~ Chapter 6 ~ Chapter 7 ~ Chapter 8 ~ Chapter 9 ~ Chapter 10 ~ Chapter 11 ~ Chapter 12 ~ Chapter 13 ~ Chapter 14 ~ Chapter 15
Chapter 16
~ Ran ~
The wind blew her hair and the sun was going down. Maybe on another occasion, she would have loved to stand in the harbor, look at the water, see a glimpse of the city, and enjoy how the sunset dyed the sky and made the water glitter. Now? She hated it. She hated the fact that she needed to stand there with that woman, Rini or Averna, whoever she wanted to be. She hated how that woman stood beside her in a black suit, letting the wind blow her hair.
She had hoped that there would have been someone still working. She had hoped that someone would have noticed that she was tied and this another woman was moving her around, and come to help her. Gosh, she had even argued with a loud voice with Rini to get someone's attention, but it seemed to be pointless. The clock was over six and everyone was gone home, enjoying their evening.
And she hated to see how Shinichi had walked closer to the building which was still in process, but where Rini had wanted them to meet. And Ran hated to watch how he was climbing up the level where they were waiting for him. She had almost wished that he wouldn’t have come, but of course, he did. That was who he was. And he had done exactly as Rini had wanted him to do.
Except as closer as Shinichi came, the more nervous Rini seemed to get. All confidence that this woman had had, was almost gone.
Shinichi got to their level and started to walk toward them. His steps were calm, he looked serious, maybe with a hint of anger, and when he stopped a few steps away from them, he just put both of his hands into his pockets.
He looked so cool… And it made Ran question again his PTSD. It was like he had turned some kind of detective switch on, lost himself into the case, forgetting everything else around him which didn’t have anything to do with her or Rini.
And he was walking to the danger. Meeting the woman who had brought so much pain for him. Because Ran hadn’t done as Shinichi had wanted.
She regretted this.
“Still alive, I see”, Shinichi greeted, looking at Rini who only tightened her grip on the rope which was tied around Ran, making sure that she wouldn’t try to do anything stupid, as Rini had said it. “These months have been treated you well, it seems.”
“As they have treated you”, Rini answered, and Ran saw how she smiled, trying to look arrogant, but she could still see how tense she was. “Looks like losing parents and friends haven’t bothered you at all.”
Ran gritted. How low!
Shinichi let out a sneer and showed a one-sided smile. “Was that your worst?”
Rini let out a laugh. “We will see”, she answered. “It depends if you know how to behave.” She pushed Ran a little, making her take a step aside and back. It took Ran by surprise, she almost fall, but Rini made sure that she was still on her feet. “So, be a good boy and give what belongs to me.” She straightened her free hand towards Shinichi.
Ran observed Shinchi, who glanced at Rini's hand before raising his eyes back to her face. He didn't seem to be impressed. Then Ran glanced at Rini, who still tried to keep up the appearance that she was on top of the situation. Ran couldn't be wondering what was so important on Rini's flash drive that she needed it back. Ran had tried to ask about it, but Rini had just said that she doesn’t need to know, that she only needs to hope that Shinichi would find it.
Ran wasn’t sure if she would get out of this. After what she had heard, she believed that Rini would push her over the edge as soon as she got what she wanted. Why else she would have bothered to come this high, why else she had bothered to bring her this side of the edge? She had said it herself: Shinichi would do anything for her, and she probably knew how much he would suffer if he lose someone right now. Ran still could hear his last words ringing in her ears when he had left the mansion this morning, and even if Shinichi didn’t look terrified, Ran could only imagine how he was feeling right now.
He was good with that, hiding the storm that was raging inside him. Has always made it hard for her to read him clearly.
She wondered if Shinichi had planned something. She kind of hoped it, but she knew better. A few hours after the call, Shinichi had sent a message and told them that he had that flash drive. And as soon as Rini had read that message, she had brought Ran here to wait and make sure that Shinichi couldn’t call polices or prepare any other tricks to get her caught.
Ran was still pretty sure that as soon as Rini would get that flash drive, she would push her on the water. And since she was tied…
“I’m very disappointed in you, Averna”, Shinichi said calmly. “You should have come after me.”
Rini laughed. “Oh, sweetheart, I know you”, she answered with a sweet smile. “If I would have done that, you wouldn’t have told me anything. I could have tortured or even kill you, but you wouldn’t have cared. But sadly, I know your weaknesses”, she said and nudged Ran a little enough to make her sway again. “I know you care about other people more than yourself. You would have sacrificed yourself, but you would do anything to save this one.”
“And do you really think I will let you go after this?” Blue eyes glanced at Ran before going back to Rini. “Do you think I believe that you let her go?”
“Oh, Shin-chan…”
“How much do you want to bet that you only want to see me suffer?” Shinichi interrupted her. The corner of his lips raised a little, showing a forced smile. “Oh, I wonder how much you would enjoy seeing me on the ground, crying over her.”
Rini sneered. “You can always jump after her”, she suggested. “I don’t care what you're going to do, as long as I can get back my flash drive...”
“Shinichi, don’t”, Ran interrupted, meeting his blue eyes. “Don’t care about me, just…”
“Don’t intervene with things you don’t know”, Rini interrupted, pushing her again, making her take a few steps to stay on her feet. “You have nothing to do with this.”
“Except she does”, Shinichi corrected, stealing both of their attention. “You should have thought about it before taking her as a hostage.”
Rini sighed. “Whatever”, she answered and offered her hand to him. “Give it back to me: She gets free and you don’t have to see me ever again.”
“Shinichi, don’t”, Ran pleaded. Shinichi moved his eyes on her, and for a moment his expression softened. Like telling her that there was nothing to worry about.
But there was everything to worry about! If he lets Rini go now…
“Fine”, Shinichi said, moving his eyes back to Rini and making Ran’s heart sink. “You can have it back.”
Rini let out an excited sound and moved a little closer to him.
Shinichi, please, don't…
She watched how he moved closer to Rini, showing that flash drive between his fingers. When he was only a few steps away from her, he showed her a smile. “But only after you find it bottom of the bay.”
And he threw it from the edge, letting it drop to the water.
Rini let out a desperate scream, and exactly at that moment, Ran was pushed hard backward. She lost her balance, taking only steps trying to keep herself on her feet. She knew she was too near the edge, that she needs to stop as soon as possible…
And she heard her name, with a broken and panicking voice. She saw Shinichi, looking at her with panic in his eyes when he ran towards her, reaching her, almost touching her… She stared at those horrified blue eyes and realized that she won’t make it. He can’t catch her before the edge, stop her from falling. There was no way…
So she smiled. It’s okay, she wanted to tell him. You have come so far already. Take her down and move forward. Something touched her, probably his fingers before it looked like he started to stumble, losing his balance, and at the same time, she stepped in the air, losing her balance…
And she fell, towards the water.
~ Shinichi ~
"Ran!"
Shinichi stared at the edge where he had seen how she had taken that one step in the air and disappeared from his view. His heart was beating too fast, and he was panting, and yet, he tried to crawl closer to the edge to…
Click.
He froze.
“Don’t even think about it.”
Her voice was cold and harsh while something pressed against the back of his skull. He didn’t have to be smart to know that it was a gun, and if he even moves, his days would be over.
Yet, his eyes were glued on that edge… If he just could…
But he would be dead before he would get closer. And what would it matter anymore anyway? He wouldn't have anything to lose anymore.
And yet, he knew that this should end here, right now. Now that he has the chance. He can’t let her get away from this. Not anymore. If he gives up now, who will go after her, stop her? He was probably the only one who knew that she was still alive, running free… He can’t give up, not just yet.
Ran wouldn’t forgive him if he would give up now.
“I’m so fed up with you, Kudo”, she said angrily, only hatred in her voice. “Why can’t you just do a favor to this world and die?”
Shinichi sneered and lowered his gaze to those wooden planks under them. “Then, why don’t you just pull the trigger?”
“I should do that”, she answered and pushed the gun against his head with anger, making his head move. “You’re nothing more than a pain in the ass! You took everything from me! EVERYTHING!”
Shinichi let out a forced laugh and raised his head, even though he felt pain, thanks to the gun she was holding tightly against his skull. “I took everything from you?” he repeated humorously. “Wasn’t it I who should say that to you?”
“DON’T FUCK WITH ME, KUDO!”
“I don’t”, he answered coldly. “Because everyone who you consider 'everything', is still alive and in good hands in the jail, where you should be too if I can add.”
“You piece of…”
“Me, instead”, he continued, feeling the pain in his heart. “You took everything from me, and you know what is the worst? I can’t meet them ever again. Never.”
“It was only your fault”, Averna hissed. “If only…”
“If only I wouldn’t have gotten interested, I know”, he said, tired of hearing that. “But I did, and sadly, I survived from it, while losing everyone I loved dearly, and some friends, and… those I couldn’t save”, he continued, staring at the other side of the bay, without really seeing it. "I admit, my parents were the worst shot”, he admitted to her and took a deep breath, remembering their smiling faces... “But… you probably knew how it would make me feel.”
“I knew how much you all loved each other…”
“No”, Shinichi interrupted her. “Not because of that. Because you have lost your parents too.”
“Wha…” she gasped but shut her mouth. Shinichi waited for her to say something. She didn't. He smiled. It seemed that he had hit on a sensitive spot.
“I bluffed when you answered Ran’s phone”, Shinichi admitted eventually, since Averna didn't say anything. “I had that flash drive already.”
“You did what?!”
“I just wanted to buy some time for myself, find out why you just didn’t stay dead and left the country. What was so important that you stayed behind and wanted to find this flash drive.”
“You…” She didn’t have words. “You had it all this time! You hid it!”
“I didn’t”, Shinichi answered calmly. “I really lost it that day. But today, I went to meet Vermouth, and she told me that she took it after she had dragged me out from your hideout, and… Well, I kind of convinced her to give it to me.” He smiled. “So I didn’t lie – kind of.”
“So that’s why I couldn’t find it from your home”, she muttered, mostly for herself. “I searched every place…”
“And when you couldn’t find me from any hospital or saw me on the news, you came back to search where I would be?” Shinichi suggested.
“Did you know I was alive?” she asked.
“I didn’t”, he answered. “I believed that you were dead. Then I saw you in Haido…”
Averna hummed, sounding like she was pleased. “You looked so terrified that night when you saw me…”
Well, he had been. He had really believed that he had just seen some hallucination, but it seemed that he didn’t. She had been there, in front of his eyes...
“So, you hacked my flash drive”, she continued. “But how? I didn’t think you were so smart that you could have guessed the password.”
“Well, it took some thinking, and I have a friend who is pretty good with computers.” He smiled. “You probably knew her as Sherry.”
“Her”, Averna murmured. “Gosh, I should have gone after her.”
Shinichi wanted to tell her that she would have never found her, but it was better to keep her out of this. And besides, he had promised himself to stop Averna, whatever it would cost. “I learned that seventeen years ago you lost your family in Hinohara.”
She let out a laugh. “Well, there is no point to try to hide it since you know the story already. Oh yes, Ojima Rini was born and lived in Hinohara with her family”, she said, and Shinichi moved his head a little, trying to see her from the corner of his eye. “Until seventeen years ago some stupid bastard decided that there needs to be a metro station.”
“And that bastard happened to be a member of Tokyo Metropolitan Government”, Shinichi continued and stood up, turning to look at Averna. She raised her gun, pointing at him. “Fujisaki Yui.”
She looked at him contemptuously. “She asked us to leave, but we didn’t have anywhere else to go. No money for the house or apartment. That house was our everything. And since the government didn’t want to give us a place to live, my parents didn’t agree.” She kept a little break. “Until one night she came back alone, telling that it would be the last warning.” She stared him in the eyes. “She shot them. She killed my parents. In front of me.”
“Pretty heavy story to tell”, Shinichi said.
“You can only guess”, Averna answered mockingly. “I was only a little girl who just happened to get away from her.” She looked like she was remembering that moment. “I ran in neighbor and told them. They didn’t believe me, but they called the police because I pleaded. And when they came and checked…" She looked into his eyes. "Can you guess what did they say?”
“It was a suicide”, Shinichi guessed.
She let out a laugh. “Suicide in my ass”, she hissed, mostly at herself. “Gosh, I even asked a few detectives to check it, but it was always suicide. Always. Eight-year-old girl’s word against influential woman’s word?” She shook her head. “It was nothing more than suicide, and I was just ignorant, too young to understand that they killed themselves because they got too much pressure, money problems, and what else.” She looked sad, and for a moment, Shinichi felt bad for her. “She destroyed that house and build that station as she planned. And you know what was worst?”
Shinichi didn’t answer.
“On the opening ceremony, she came to me and said: I’m sorry for your loss.”
There was a silence between them. Only a wind blew, moving her hair…
“So you decided to avenge your parents.”
“I was a terrible child, even much more terrible teen”, she laughed. “Gosh, I just wanted to come to Tokyo and kill that woman. Destroy her, get her blood into my hands and see how everyone would say that it was a suicide. So, I came here, and tried to kill her a few times.”
“Without success."
“Yeah”, Averna admitted. “There were always bodyguards who stopped me”, she told him. “They put me in juvenile prison to think about what I have done. The third time I get out, I met them…”
“Them?” Shinichi asked and frowned. “The Black Organisation?”
“Yeah”, Averna confirmed. “It was the Boss himself.”
Shinichi grimaced yet didn’t say anything.
“He told me that he had seen me a few times and was interested in what I was doing”, Averna continued, looking a little bit proud. “After I told him my story since I didn’t have anything to lose, he asked if I wanted to join them. Promised me that they would train me, give me a home and do everything to help me to get my revenge. Everything he wanted back was my decisiveness, skills, and loyalty.”
“So, in meantime, you gathered all the information on that flash drive to be ready when the time would come?” Shinichi asked.
“Yeah, since it seemed that I wasn’t good more than pretending and lying”, she answered and looked a little disappointed. “The flash drive was also a reminder for myself why I was there, who I was, and that I won’t be that weak girl ever again. Reminder for me how untrustworthy all the polices and detectives were.” She looked at him, probably waiting for him to grimace or defend them, but he didn’t give that to her. When she realized that, she continued. “With their help, it was planned that we would finally kill Fujisaki Yui. I would get my revenge and leave it behind me. We took a few of her bodyguards down, making them talk and tell everything they knew. We were so close to starting our mission to get that woman out from the game…” Then she stared at his eyes, like trying to drill through them. “But then you came and ruined everything!”
Shinichi hummed. “Well, looks like I happened to save someone without my knowledge”, he said and opened his mouth to continue, but then he saw some movements behind Averna. His heart jumped an extra beat. He hadn't considered something like that would happen, and he wanted to shout, tell not to come closer, but then he realized that it could be his chance... So he turned to look at Averna, trying to think of something to distract her…
Yet, when he turned his eyes back to her, he realized that his face had revealed something to her. “What”, Averna let out, still pointing at him with a gun. She turned. “Wh-“
Shinichi acted. He took a step closer, grabbed the hand that hold the gun, and pressed it to point at the down. There was a shot, hitting somewhere besides his foot. Maybe lucky, maybe not, Shinichi didn’t care. As long as she didn’t…
“Curse you”, he heard her hissing.
“Give up, Averna”, he said, looking at those brown eyes. “Please.”
“No”, she answered, and surprisingly, let go of the gun. Shinichi swayed and realized what was coming. He crouched just in time when the leg swayed above him. He opened his eyes to look how Ran turned around and went after Averna who was already running towards the ladders, trying to escape. Shinichi stood up and took other ladders. Maybe it would make him go around, but he was fast. And maybe he could…
He jumped to the ground and ran to the other side. He saw how Averna was already running between shipping containers, probably trying to get them lost. He saw how Ran followed her, diving between the same containers.
Shinichi cursed and took the different gap, starting to run. He tried to think where Averna was trying to head. All he could think was that she just wanted to distract them, making them lose track of her so she could escape. In this kind of maze, it was possible. He had no idea where he could get out and where not. And even if there were some opening spots, there was no way to tell where Averna was running. And even if Ran was following her...
Ran...
Part of him was worried about Ran, who was alone after her, but part of him tried to ease his fears. Ran was pretty good with karate, and he was sure that Averna could never beat her. And since Shinichi had her gun, Averna couldn’t shoot her…
Except if she had another one with her, or if she had planned something…
He stopped and leaned against his knees. Gosh, calm down, he told himself, closing his eyes for a moment. Panicking wouldn't help. If he only could know where they were running now or where she was heading...
Then he started to hear some screaming somewhere nearby. He straightened and listened to them. He believed in recognizing Ran's voice, even if it had a little echo with it. They came closer to him, almost like they were a few gaps away, but... Shinichi looked in front of him. A few containers from here, they would probably meet at one of the crossroads. He started to run. If he was fast enough, he could get in front of them and stop her...
He ran as fast as he could, turning into one gasp, then another. He started to hear their voices closer, more clearly. He was pretty sure that if he just gets to the next gap...
He turned and the voices were so close. He started to doubt if he would be there in time, but he needed to try. So when he got close enough, he took his chance: He dropped himself to the ground and slid to the crossroad. And like he had hoped for, he heard a surprised gasp before something hit the side of his thigh and fell to the ground from another side of him. Shinichi moved fast, grabbing Averna’s hands, making her stay on the ground. As soon as she recovered from the falling, she started to wriggle, trying to get free from his grip.
“GET AWAY FROM ME!” she screamed as loud as she could. “LET ME GO, YOU PIECE OF…”
“Can you call the police?” Shinichi asked and turned to look at Ran who stopped beside them, out of breath, totally wet and… and…
Shinichi took his gaze away from her and searched his phone in his pocket, trying to ignore all the curves of her body which her clothes didn’t hide at all. It wasn’t like he hadn’t paid attention before, but…
He opened his phone and searched Takagi’s phone number. If someone, he would come as soon as possible. “Actually call directly to detective Takagi”, Shinichi said and turned to her, trying to avoid looking at her too much. “He will come”, he continued and met her eyes.
“Okay”, Ran panted and took the phone before turning her back to take a few steps away from them, raising the phone in her ear. Shinichi looked after her, still amazed. Well, he was happy that even part of his plan had worked: He got her free from those ties, even though it was a close call. He admitted that throwing that flash drive he had hoped that Averna’s attention would go after it, but the fact that she had been still able to push Ran towards the edge, away from him…
Well, he had considered that too. That as soon as he would have freed Ran, he would have pushed her away from him, for safe, and handled Averna by himself. But he hadn't thought that she would come back. He was still amused that she had come back to them, climbed those ladders and fight her, chased her, without any fear…
She really was amazing. In every way. She was…
“That’s disgusting, you know.”
Shinichi didn’t take his eyes away from Ran, who just turned to look at them and probably was telling Takagi what had happened. “I know that everything in me is disgusting”, he answered calmly.
“Well, that too”, Averna admitted. Shinichi was a little surprised that those words didn’t bother him at all. Well, like her words would mean anything anymore. Why would he care what Averna was thinking about him? As long as Ran liked him as he was…
“But that’s extremely disgusting”, she continued. “You… never looked at me like you look at her.”
Shinichi let out a short laugh and glanced at the woman who was still on the ground, yet she had turned her head to see him even somehow. “What? Are you jealous?”
She snorted. “If something, I pity her. She could do much better.”
Shinichi still observed Ran who was still on the phone, looking around her. Well, Averna wasn’t wrong, but…
“But I’m not surprised what you see in her. She is so much like you.”
“Mmm”, Shinichi hummed. “And nothing like you.”
Averna let out a mocking laugh. “And still you told me so stubbornly how much you loved me.”
Shinichi smiled – which took him kind of surprise, but it felt good and… right. “Well, after being with her, I have realized that… maybe I never did”, he said and met her brown eyes. “I’m starting to be pretty sure that I just like you, but I never really loved you.”
“Is that so?” Averna asked and smiled. “It’s easy to deny it now, after everything.”
“Maybe that too”, Shinichi admitted. “But you never made me feel like she does.”
“Hah”, she forced out a laugh. “I wonder… Maybe I should tell her how much in love you were with me.”
“Do that”, Shinichi answered and turned his gaze back to Ran when his phone came into his view. He took it from her.
“He is coming as soon as possible”, she explained as answering his silent question.
“Good”, Shinichi said and got up, making Averna stand up with him, still keeping her hands tightly in his grip. “We can go to the gate to wait for him”, he continued and smiled while looking at Averna. “And meanwhile Averna wanted to tell you something…”
“No need to bother”, Ran interrupted, and when Shinichi looked at her, her eyes were on Averna and there was a hint of disgust on her face. “I don’t care to hear lies of the woman who never really deserved your love.”
And while Averna let out a dry laugh, Shinichi felt his heart take a few extra beats.
Shinichi felt relieved and relaxed as soon as Takagi took Averna from his hands. It felt like he was ending something now. Like now he had met the last ghost from his past and dealt with it.
For the first time after taking down the Black Organisation, he felt like he was finally ready to close the doors of those events and turn his back to them peacefully. He was ready to let go of them and continue his life.
Yet, the woman wasn’t done. Even when Takagi was taking her into the car, she was trying to wriggle free. “Curse you, Kudo!” she screamed and turned to look at him. “This isn’t over!”
“I think it is”, Shinichi answered, mostly to himself. He met those brown eyes, hopefully, for the last time ever before Takagi put the woman in the car and shut the door. And seeing how he lost her slowly from his view, made him relax.
He was finally free from her.
And then he remembered Ran.
In a hurry, he turned to look at the woman who stood beside him, looking after the car which took Averna away.
“Are you okay, Ran?”
She took her eyes away and turned to look at him. Almost immediately she got a smile on her lips. “I'm fine”, she answered and let out a laugh. “Well, maybe a little shocked about today’s events and a little cold after the swimming, but I’m fine.”
“I’m so sorry about that”, Shinichi apologized, taking off his jacket and putting it on Ran's shoulders, hoping it would warm her even a little bit. “We… we should head back home and make you warm, and…”
“Shinichi…”
“Yeah?”
“I’m fine.”
He looked at her for a moment before lowering his eyes. “I know”, he answered.
“You’re shaking and… your grip is pretty tight”, she pointed out, letting out a light laugh.
Shinichi looked at his hands that he had let stay on her arms, grabbing them, making sure that she really was there, in front of him…
And he realized how scared he had been. How much he had feared to lose her too…
He tried to loosen his grip.
“It’s okay, you know…” Ran said, like reading his thoughts. “And I’m really, really sorry that I made you worried like this.”
He closed his eyes for a moment. He wanted to tell her that it was okay, but it kind of wasn’t. He didn’t blame her. He just hated to be afraid…
“But if it means anything, I was afraid too.”
“I’m very sorry”, he repeated and met her eyes. “You shouldn’t have been. I…” He looked away again. “I wanted you to be safe, keep you…”
“No, I wasn’t scared because of that”, she interrupted, making him shut up and meet her eyes again. She smiled, though a little plaintive. “I was so afraid of losing you.”
And before he knew it, she stepped closer and pressed her lips to the corner of his lips. It was a soft, warm kiss that felt like an eternity, and yet, when she backed off, he felt like it was over too soon. Shinichi raised his hand to cover the spot, like trying to keep the felt of her lips on there longer, and stared at her face, those unsure eyes and shy smile when she looked at him.
“Though I don’t want to do the same as she did”, she spoke eventually, looking down. “Even though part of me would love to tell it to you.”
He frowned before he remembered. He remembered Averna, standing in front of him, coming closer and pressing her lips against his. Telling him that she liked him...
Shinichi let out a laugh. “What does it matter anymore?” he asked and smiled when she raised her eyes back to him. “You’re nothing like her. In fact… you’re so much better.” She blushed, and Shinichi raised his hand, touching her cheek as gently as he could. He didn't remember doing that to her. And… as Ran did now, she never leaned on any of his touches. “And I’m going to do something that I didn’t do to her on that night”, he said, surprised at how silent his voice was. He heard how his heart was pounding in his chest when he lowered and stared at those beautiful, orchid eyes, which looked at him a little confused before he closed his. He took his chance and pressed his lips to hers.

I would love to know about 10, 17 and 18 as well. Sorry for sending too many asddsgfh, they all just sound so exciting! >v<
//Wick 0v0
Listen. Listen. I'm a writer. Actually wanting to know about my WIPs makes you my new best friend. Ask me. Please ask me. I will speak about them at length. I can't believe you find them exciting but thank you ;-;
This is a pretty eclectic motley. All three of them happen to be vaguely gen, surprisingly.
17 is Werewolf Ran. Look. I'm human just the same as anyone else, and Ran's my type, okay. Make her over 2 meters tall, give her inhuman strength, and have her protect her best friend? Yes please. Indulgent as hell, but everyone needs one of those. Most likely eventually RanAo.
10 is Almost Always. It was my first try for the KaiShin One Prompt challenge. It's not very long, mostly just vibes, and it's & KaiShin, platonic. I think I meant for there to be cape cuddling afterwards.
18 is Solidarity. Was thinking Bi x Bi Solidarity for this one. Ran and Shinichi decide they need to see other people and are bros about it. Never went anywhere because I never decided on ships. That's the worst part about being a multishipper, I think.

17.
Shinichi struggled against his bonds on the altar-like table outside the facility, echoing through the corridor. He could hear Ran’s screams echoing through the corridor, and that made him tear at his wrists, making them bleed. They were tied above his head while his feet were tied to the ornate gargoyles at the corner.
Shinichi was unsure exactly what they were going to do to him, but he was sure that it wasn’t going to be pretty, given his positioning.
And Ran. He had to escape. He had to help her. His struggles became more fierce, but also more futile. The ropes wouldn’t budge.
-
A howl, chilling him to the bone. A vaguely bipedal wolf walked out of the building, blood on his maw and on his wide, inhuman claws.
No. Not a him. She lacked the parts. A thick mane ran down the center of her back, and a forelock curled over one ear like a horn.
“Ran?” he asked. It was impossible, but he was certain in his deduction. She wagged her tail, then cut through the rope in one swipe of her claws, picking Shinichi up and throwing him over her shoulder.
“This is so undignified,” Shinichi said, and Ran growled at him, holding on to him.
Someone shot at them, so Ran turned to protect Shinichi and snarled. Her roar knocked them all on their tails.
-
10. almost always
The climb took some time, metal cold under Kaito's gloves. Shinichi had nestled himself on a small platform about two thirds of the way up, legs dangling over the side while his chest pressed against the middle bar of the railing and he leaned over it with both his arms crossed, looking out at the city. It appeared to be of solid construction, but Kaito couldn't deny the sight made him uneasy. "Ah, Detective, it's an awfully long way to the ground from here."
"Go away, KID."
"Makes me dizzy just thinking about it."
"Go. Away."
"Hmm. Can't do that."
A growl of frustration, but he said nothing else. The radio tower blinked red into the night sky.
"I won't be good company."
"Doesn't matter."
-
18. Solidarity
Ran lifts her head from his chest, perhaps to kiss him again, and Shinichi’s biting his lip, face downcast.
“Shinichi,” Ran says. “What’s wrong?” It’s a wonder, too, how alike they are in this. He’s beautiful beside her as they cuddle together, and the heat of his skin feels nice, but something is missing. It feels like something vital, something that’s supposed to be there but isn’t.
“Ran, I,” he begins, but he stops. It’s like he can’t come out and say it. Ran can’t blame him. She doesn’t think she feels it either.
“You didn’t feel anything, did you?” Ran asks.
“No,” Shinichi says. “Ran, I’m sorry I,” he trails off again. “It was nice, but I,” he worries his lip some more. “I love you.”
“I love you too," Ran says. "But I'm not in love with you."
"Yeah." A long pause. "The sex was fun though," he says.
"Totally," Ran agrees.
"Are we breaking up?" Shinichi asks.
"Yeah, I think so," Ran says. "Do you mind if we keep having it, though?"
"Why would I mind?" Shinichi asks. "You're still my best friend."
"Mine, too," Ran says.
"This is less awkward than I thought it would be," Shinichi says.
"Yeah," Ran says, and they get back to cuddling. “I’m glad we figured this out before we got married.”
“Yeah,” Shinichi says. “Me too.”
-
"Okay, so. Shinichi?" Ran says. They're sitting on the beach, Ran in his lap, Shinichi with his arms around her, and in front of them, their friends are playing beach volleyball while the two of them rest in the shade of a large beach umbrella.
It would be cozy and romantic, if they were actually dating. Now Ran just appreciates them leaving her alone, and appreciates Shinichi being her shield.
"Yeah?" Shinichi asks.
"I think I have a crush on a girl."
"Oh." He pulls her closer. "Ran?"
"Yeah?"
"I think I like guys," he says.
“‘Guys?’” Ran giggles. “Or just a specific guy?”

Shinichi hearing the words gin and vodka and only thinking about the men who hurt him. People in fanfiction should make both their names and the sight of the alcohol triggers for him. Please, I need him to experience trauma.
He's lucky he looks like a little kid. If he had been a teenager who had dropped his coins when he heard the names, they would have been a lot more suspicious (well, he might have got lucky as Tequila was talking to Vodka and he's more of Gin's lackey than the brains).
At least Gosho knows if someone is close to a bomb when it blows up, they will be blown to pieces, someone needs to tell the anime team who make fillers this fact too.
I love how reckless and aggressive Shinichi gets when he's close to getting clues about the Black Organization. I also appreciate that Ran speaking to him, distracting him for a moment, helped calm him down enough to think more rationally. Now if only he let her know the secret, she could actively help him in these moments because Ran is a calming presence.
Nevermind, he could have potentially put Kogoro in danger by having him discuss the organization so openly. You know the guy they made a deal with will also soon turn up dead because they do not leave any loose ties, especially because they did not get what they wanted from him.
How desperate he was to run into the explosion for the chance of clues though T-T He really does not care if he puts himself in harms way as long as it gives him a chance to return to normal but that will be his downfall and bring harm to those around him.

You know this episode does really help and show a very simple thing.
That Jiro is not part of the DonBrothers, and it is intentionally like that.
Jiro is another Don, like Momo. Not a Brother.
And the Brother powers seem to be connected to DonMomotaros, considering the points system.
So all of this comes together in some really interesting ways.
It makes sense that the Brother powers work that way. That they only connect with people who are... Good people. Who are heroes. Because that's what our boy Momo is.
You see someone in trouble? Right there to help. As our faviroute delivery boys says "He doesn't just deliver packages, he delivers happiness." At his core, Momo is a true hero. Helping those in need. And so it makes sense the Brother powers find people like that
Find people who are naturally good people.
But Jiro? As said, he's another Don. Like Momo, he is a Don. He isn't tied to the others. And he is alone. Because at the core, he is selfish.
Wanting to be a hero just got the title. As shown a few episodes ago, when given command of the DonBrothers he had them going against everything the team is supposed to stand for, in his desire to be a 'hero'.
And when he snaps and unleashes the savage white tiger, it's because MOMO was the one who actually did those achievements. Jiro didn't learn a lesson, he didn't realise he was wrong, just that HE didn't do the heroic things
And on that same vein, again he is alone. He hasn't got his own Brother equivalents. Because he doesn't need them. He saw the teams achievements as his own, back when they where the 'DragonFires'. OniSister stopping a car? That was him. SaruBrother saving people? Oh, that was him.
He doesn't see the Brothers as anything but tools, he sees himself as all that's needed. And so he doesn't have any of his own.
It is fascinating
"Jiro is another Don, like Momo. Not a Brother."
Idk why I found this sentence so funny 🤣
That dude's a fkin cousin'
Yeah --I mean it makes sense, in a way. He WAS sent as Momoi's replacement. But obv that didn't work out LOL! I wonder if this means that he could have a system of his own if he wanted to ?
🤔
"He hasn't got his own Brother equivalents. Because he doesn't need them."
Okay, hellO?
This is some fire asf analysis though, because you're completely right. I mean Momotani said it himself in episode 16 --
"I'll be a hero that doesn't need companions (i.e sidekicks)"
I think another important thing to note --is that Momoi had to save his own companions. Shinichi passing out in the fire? Momotani never noticed --or if he did, he didn't do anything
Onisister about to get plowed by a van going 70? He ALSO didn't do anything.
This shows that either he is so self-important that he doesn't notice the harm he's causing to others (yeah probably); or that even when he sees the harm he chooses to overlook it in order to keep-up with his fake-a$$ hero facade
I think this is why episode 18 was so interesting to me
Because that was where Momotani really 🤝🤝 the other Donfamily members AND that's also the episode where he chooses to let go of his own goals/ego/need to be Momoi's equal (or to win over him in some way)
because Momoi's vulnerability spoke to him more than his own selfish desires.
Hmmm -- this is also why Tiger boi fighting Sharkboy and going, "Why can I feel his sadness" LOL was such an interesting choice.
I think Momotani
(1) Feels vulnerable himself
thus the split whenever his 'facade' crumbles
(2) When he sees that vulnerability (in himself/other ppl), he ditches all of himself because he desperately wants to protect that vulnerability in (himself and) others.
Because if even his evil-self was noticing and bothered enough to vocalize the pain he was feeling from an enemy -- that shows it's not just a "good Momotani" thing.
BOTH sides of himself feel the need / pull to protect vulnerability.
And THAT'S fascinating to me.
#submissiveking99#fking FIRE analysis yo#🤝🤝🤝🤝🤝#This truly is something to thing about#reminds me that I shoould write some analytical essays for donbrothers#but yeah when Momotani chooses to forget himself ...tht is so fascinating to me#my thougts#asks#before harvesting season#avataro sentai donbrothers#donbrothers liveblog#donbrothers#20 peach falls#who let delivery boy bring a parade float to a gun fight#sentaisouped#momotani jiro

i don't want heiji to help shinichi to take down the BO (like directly, i mean he can help as much as the police will) but i do want kaito kid to help shinichi lol i kinda feel a superiority complex when shinichi is proven to be the greatest detective and idk i would feel really good if kaito helps shinichi coz after all shinichi is the only person that can reach other people's heart omg im insane
Um..... No offense, but that just makes no sense.
We've come such a long way in this manga. One of the main points of the story is that Shinichi gets to learn that he can't do things by himself, that he NEEDS help with this if he wants to be successful. He has tried to go after Vodka on his own and he ended up inside a locker just seconds away from certain death again, and he only survived out of pure luck and because Gin overestimated his rival at that moment, because he thought that no one could fit inside the locker (aka, that no one would be stupid enough to still be in that locker room with them). Shinichi had to learn the harsh way that he NEEDS allies here if he wants to survive, which is the exact reason why he is now surrounded by them basically everywhere he goes. He has the FBI, CIA, police, secret police, family, friends... He KNOWS he's not invincible. Let me repeat again. This superiority complex you mention DOESN'T EXIST. (Maybe he does have plot armor but I mean- he's the main character, and that's just the way Gosho designs characters in general. Although I have to say that recently Shinichi has been more and more out of the loop than usual, he caused some trouble for himself with his decision making in Kyoto, and since his parents have been involved he just seems confused and completely oblivious to some stuff even, which honestly I don't think I like).
Anyway my confusion here is on the fact that you think Shinichi needs Kid's help of all people, instead of literally all these allies that he has made through the entire story. It makes no sense. I know this is an unpopular opinion but... Kid has no business in the main plot. He doesn't know Shinichi, and he doesn't even really like him tbh. He might enjoy the games and the chase sometimes (let me repeat: SOMETIMES, because clearly Shinichi has been a pain in the ass during heists too) but he doesn't enjoy having him there, he doesn't go out of his way to try to know him. The ONE time he got involved in the plot it was because he was blackmailed into it. Shinichi threw him under the bus without intel on who he was going up against and almost died facing Bourbon (and Shinichi might have just overestimated Kid's talent and figured that he would be okay because "it's Kid", but he was still a jerk for doing that tbh).
So yeah, basically Kid has his own stuff to deal with, he has his own story, his own organization to take care of. He doesn't need to be involved in the end of this story that isn't his. He has ZERO ties to the BO plot. He just doesn't belong there. And Shinichi also has the right to end his own story and take care of things because he's the main character.
Gosho has said in the past that he doesn't intend to put Kid in the take down and I honestly hope that he keeps this promise.
