@nerdynanny (nate & dogmeat) — lucy maclean starter call / accepting!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Hey...” Lucy says softly, stopping short at the sight of a dog coming around the ruin wall. “What're you doing out here?” It does not occur to her yet that there may be a human attached to the hound.

— @nerdynanny: nate & nora.
❧ another survivor of the gauntlet. nora honestly didn't know why that thing was still up and running — she supposed, she had to let her raiders have some entertainment. better than having them rip each other's throats out. she had sent porter gage to retrieve the man. although, her mood quickly soured when she saw the man. if she didn't know any better, she'd say it was nate. but that wasn't possible, he'd been shot and left to die slowly in his chamber. god, how nora had pounded at that thing until her fists bled and she couldn't move her arms anymore. she quickly shook of those memories. the fucking institute and their synths.
god, he looked so much like nate though but that wasn't possible. he'd at least be scarred, she knew she was. sprouting multiple new face scars, the most prominent ones being two over her eye, ironically, from the gauntlet. ❝ you can tell the institute and father, i'm not interested in joining. nor am i interested in whatever pet project you are, ❞ she stated, flicking on the classical radio on her pipboy, as though that could drain out the memories of the vault. ❝ i'll even be kind enough to let you run back to them. scram. ❞

— @nerdynanny; nate & nora.
❧ it felt almost surreal; walking through sanctuary hills with nate again. they'd walked this path so many times. often out for a stroll with shaun in his pram. she tried not to think of shaun. she had failed him enough already. god, she'd failed nate too. yet, here they were, two hundred years later, walking that same old path to their home. it was significantly cleaner than how she'd found it, thanks to preston insisting on turning sanctuary hills into, well, a sanctuary.
❝ things are, well, they're very different but we tried to patch it up as best as possible, ❞ she said, almost nervous that he wouldn't like. would he leave? she didn't want to think about that. ❝ it was a mess before but i like to think it looks almost as good as it did before. ❞

“The East Coast...” Lucy repeated, thoughtfully. “Long way to travel on foot.” She might not have known the wasteland very well, but she knew her American history, and even back in the days of planes, trains, and automobiles, it could take days to get from one side of the country to the other.
If he'd really been stopping to help build settlements, it must've taken years.
“I...yes,” Lucy admitted. “Yes, I have heard that.” And she'd been racking her brain trying to imagine what the experiment could've been in her Vault ever since. “Oh, right! Sorry. Where are my manners?” She took the man's offered hand and gave it a firm shake. “I'm Lucy.” Dropping his hand, she adjusted the weight of her pack on her shoulders. “Why were you headed to Thirty-Three?”
Tumblr media
"Thirty-three? I was just on my way over there." Nate mused, bringing his hands down. He flashed a charming smile, as a man with high charisma he made good use of his words.
"The Minutemen keep the Commonwealth safe over on the east coast. I've been crawlin my way across the country these past nine years helpin folks and setting up Settlements." He offered a hand.
"I don't know if you're aware-- but each Vault was made for some sick twisted experiment. Ours was-- cryogenics. I'm uh-- I fought in the Great War."

Lucy startled slightly when the man first appeared, one hand automatically going to the tranq gun at her side. She didn't draw it yet, though, and relaxed some when she realized he held his hands up, and they were empty of any weapons.
“Oh...hi.” She relaxed even further when she recognized the faded colors of his jumpsuit, hand dropping away from her firearm. “I am! Vault 33. And same here. The no harm meant part, I mean.”
Tumblr media
        Lucy's brow furrowed curiously. “What's a Minuteman?”
Dogmeat spotted the human he'd smelled, tail wagging delightedly to see they were a GOOD human. The colors of the vault suit were among the few the canine could see-- and folks who wore outfits like that tended to be good.
Like his human.
The canine was clad in a dog-sized vault suit as well, along with armor that read Minuteman Dogmeat on one of his shoulders.
Tumblr media
Nate came around the wall with his hands up, to show he meant no harm. He wore a similar suit, with the number 111 upon it. The suit looked faded, and had seen some wear and tear over the years.
"Dogmeat and I mean no harm-- we're with the Minutemen. You're a Vault Dweller?" He pointed to his own Pip Boy-- albeit one with a unique style.
