Cassian reminds me of the boys from the virgin suicides

If you don't know the virgin suicides is a book and a movie. I saw the movie in my middle school emo years and recently stumbled across it again. It's about a group of sisters who commit suicide told through the eyes of a group of adolescent boys who's curiosity is driven by their own lust.

The boys look at the struggling sisters like they are incomprehensible beautiful creatures because they are blinded by their own fantasies and desires. I saw a good analysis of it that describes how their struggles to communicate with the girls is that of their own making.

I feel like cassian also does these things when it comes to Nesta. The only thing is, he wants to get to know her and to help her but unlike the boys when she responds in a way that doesn't correlate to what he hopes her to be or wants her to be he reacts in frustration and takes that frustration out on her or he chooses to push clearly defined boundaries. She then, of course, becomes defensive and reacts by either trying to get him to leave her alone or striking with cruel words in hopes to deter him.

I just think cassian would stop thinking about who he wants her to be, how he wants her to act, and what he thinks she should be grateful for; if he just accepted who she is, her actions, and desires without judgement. He would be in a much better position to help her.

In the books the girls commit suicide not because their parents don't love them, but because of their inability to live up to their parents expectations and the subsequent lack of control of their lives because of it.

My biggest fear for nesta is that in the next book she'll be placed in a situation like this. Where Feyre's desire to fix her sister through force and push her ideals onto her only drives her further into despair.

The Vietnamese violet 🌸, Primulina tamiana (formerly Chirita) is a diminutive plant in the gesneriaceae family. It is a cousin to the African violet and prefers the same conditions- bright light ☀️, warmth🌡, and even moisture 💧. This wee plant, with its flowers, is never more than 3" high. Mine is in a large terrarium with a fluorescent light above it and is in bloom 🌸 almost continually. It would also do that on a windowsill in the correct light. Coming home to your own bed is an adult habit I've grown to cherish. As a young girl, it didn't matter where I fell asleep (often on the couch or a girlfriend's bed during sleepovers or my mother's arms) but I cannot seem to do this as an adult. No matter how drunk/tired/sleepy, nothing quite compares to dragging yourself home to your own little space at the end of a long day/night. Lord knows, I've moved so many times over the last few years, and despite having many new beds in many new homes, the feeling of returning to my very own was unmatched. So much so, that even my own old bed in my parents' house, and my boyfriend's bed didn't quite cut it! Today, I live with him and we share this warm love nest we ache to come back to. It's this, waking up to a familiar body next to you, waking up to gentle touches and comforting nudges, the wafting smells of vanilla and juniper candles that linger around you... I'm reminded that I no longer just come home to a bed, but also a person I love deeply. There's no feeling in the world that quite compares, and really, in its essence, what makes "coming home" what it truly is...
