ahhhhhhhhhhhh i mean SAME, KINDA?? the show feels like...very in line with my brand of bucko, i have felt very validated by some of the choices that were made!!!! thank you, i hope you really enjoy the show!!!! i thought the first episode was great, but there are some scenes later on that are PHENOMENAL!

honestly, my holiday season has been pretty chill! the most exciting thing that’s happened was that I did Christmas with my girlfriend on the 15th, which was a wonderful day (I got her a necklace for Christmas, and she’s worn it every day since... needless to say, that fact has made me softer and gayer). 

but other than that, i’ve basically been chilling at my parent’s house, having a lot of naps in my super comfortable bed, and cuddling my parent’s cat! and also finally reading all the fics that have accumulated in my email inbox since the beginning of November, ahaha. 

I hope you (and all my followers) are having a wonderful holiday season! if any of y’all are doing anything exciting, feel free to tell me about it! I’d love to hear about what everyone is up to (especially since I’ve only been around sparingly since the beginning of October... oops).

Unfortunately I’ve only written 8 things in the last year-ish, so here they are in reverse order.

The sea breeze, if Dawsey Adams cared to notice, bore the scent of salt, foam, and decomposing seaweed, same as it always has. (Paper Riches)

There’s only one person who raps on his front door with such vigor so late at night, unaccompanied by the clamor of German shouting, so Dawsey braces himself, hand on the knob, for Elizabeth McKenna to storm into his foyer with her next risky scheme to secure them more food, or supplies, or books. This was fun! Apparently I have a lot of variation, 54 words in #2 compared to 5 in #3.

Fudging Christmas

For my 2017 winter/holiday fic extravaganza

Malia is staring into the bowl as if she can will theingredients to melt perfectly. She’sstirring slowly, her arm muscles bulging with tense frustration.

‘Malia?’ Kira ventures.

Malia either pretends not to hear her, or really is deafand blind to everything but her bowl.

Kira gently touches Malia’sshoulder.

‘What?’ Malia asks. She doesn’t look up or break her stirring.

‘Are youokay? This is your third fudge.’

‘No,’ Malia grumbles. ‘This will be my first fudge. That’—shepoints at where her first two attempts are sitting on the counter—‘is not fudge.’

‘Theylook fine to me,’ Kira says. She breaks apiece off one of them, and pops it into her mouth. She hums around the softsweetness. ‘Tastes like it, too.’

‘Butthey’re not perfect. The first onehas unmelted chocolate in it, and the second didn’t mixright.’ Malia takes her eyes off herbowl for a second to glare at the offending not-fudge. ‘And I promised fudge for the Christmas potluck.’

‘Okay,’ Kira says. She wraps her arms aroundMalia’s waist and presses a softkiss to the side of Malia’s neck.‘But you’regonna have to stop glaring. You’regonna scare the fudge out of setting properly.’

Malia huffs out a laugh and relaxes a little.

Kira keeps her arms around Malia’s waist until the oven dings, signalling that her cookiesare done. Since Malia has taken over the kitchen, she carries them to thedining table. Some of the cookies are a little misshapen, and one has a burnededge, but she can just break those up and they can eat them while decoratingthe ones that come out right.

Unlike Malia, Kira isn’t muchof a baker, so she’s made it easy for herself. Thedough for the cookies was impossible to mess up, the glazing is store-bought,and so are the sprinkles. After heating up the glazing, making it fluid again,she sets to work. It doesn’t turnout as pretty as she hoped. She almost drowns some of the cookies, and the lastcouple have barely any glazing at all; but the sprinkles shaped like littleChristmas trees look cute, and when she dips one of the failed cookies in what’s left of the glazing and liberallydouses it with sprinkles, she can say they taste pretty good, too.

‘Needany help?’ Malia asks.

Kira shakes her head. ‘Almostdone.’ She holds out the plate withbroken cookies. ‘Want one?’

Malia takes one, and drops in the chair next to Kira’s. When she takes a bite of hercookie, she hums appreciatively.

‘How’d the fudge turn out?’ Kira asks.

‘I thinkthis is the one,’ Malia says. ‘If not, then I give up and I’ll make some baby fudge.’

‘What’s baby fudge?’ Kira pours sprinkles over the last cookie, then sitsback. She turns so she can put her feet in Malia’s lap,and puts the plate of reject cookies in her own lap.

‘Thefudge you make in the microwave,’ Maliasays, taking another cookie. ‘Evenbabies can do it.’

‘So… if you have a related fudgemeltdown, even I could save your cutebutt and make fudge for Christmas?’ Kirateases.

Malia narrows her eyes and drags a finger up theunderside of Kira’s foot. Kira’s leg spasms, and the plate ofcookies almost tips, almost spilling its contents to the floor. They both gasp,grabbing for the plate.

‘Notickling while I have cookies in my lap,’ Kiradecides.

‘Right,’ Malia says, a sly grin pulling ather lips. ‘No tickling while you havecookies in your lap.’ With onequick grab, she clears the plate and stuffs the cookies in her mouth. Hercheeks bulge and she has to keep her hand in front of her mouth to stopanything from falling out.

Pressing her lips together to suppress her fond smile, Kirasets the empty plate on the table. Then, she starts running.

Why am I blanking!? Umm... I mean if we’re talking about princesses and stuff then I liked Cinderella when I was a kid (though I know all the original princess stories were much darker). I’m not super well-versed in fairytales but funnily enough I’m considering taking a Folklore and Fairytales course next semester! So get back to me in eight months :P
