in my perfect asoiaf world rhaegar and elia are madly in love behind closed doors.

a sweet man that’s melancholic around the people he’s not comfortable with and a great man with those he is. he dotes on rhaenys, gifts her the toys she asks for and handcrafts toys for her kitten. he hold aegon at night, admiring his baby boy as his son grips his finger with baby strength.

elia is the one rhaegar answers to. he asks her for her input, and every time he listens, something prospers. she holds the future of the kingdoms in her hands, her love willing to do whatever she wants. she’s kind enough to keep that power within the walls of the red keep. rhaegar knows he would do anything she asked of him. he would go to war for her.

kind of expected that the ability breakdown wouldnt get that much traction (especially on twitter bc if it doesnt do well in the first few hours it might as well be dead) but what i didnt need to wake up to was looking at my twitter notifications and thinking there was a long comment on it at first but then i read it and it turned out to be some guy having dug up one of my old totk tweets where i talked about how zelda was treated-

now I’m just imagining the whole series being an overly high stakes game of Risk (or. multiple games. it’s a Risk party lol). Robert would rather drink and watch sports, so he lets himself lose first thing and is on the couch in the living room instead of playing (he gives his pieces to Stannis, and that sparks a debate about fairness that lasts an hour — Renly thinks Stannis is too uptight to play a board game and Joffrey/Cersei insist that Robert should have helped his son.) Tywin claims he’s above such childish behavior and refuses to play, but keeps stepping in to help his kids and grandkids figure out next moves. Myrcella went outside with Oberyn’s various children responsibilities to play in the sprinklers. Tommen is playing with the direwolves, and gets roped into braiding Margaery’s hair — he is surprisingly good at it. Ned is too nice to everyone and refuses to allow house rules so he gets ganged up on early in the night and taken out. Catelyn says at the beginning of the night that she’s not going to play, but when Ned loses, she makes herself Robb’s “advisor” to avenge her husband (he looks so confused and a bit sad about losing so early, and Cersei is such a smug bitch as Joffrey’s “advisor” — Jaime’s territory got consumed by Robb early on, like Joffrey/Cersei did to Sansa’s. Catelyn negotiates a trade of territory to help Sansa, which does not help Robb and eventually gets her relegated to the couch with Ned). Renly has been more focused on fighting Stannis because he thinks Stannis will be an easy win, but Stannis’s weird church friend cheats and Renly gets taken out. He leaves to join his boyfriend and Margaery in the backyard. His best friend and Jaime’s girlfriend, Brienne, insists Stannis cheated but can’t prove it and spends the rest of the game going exclusively after Stannis. Theon was in an alliance with Robb but then Yara showed up and Theon decided sibling alliance would be better, because Robb always wins game night and is nice about it too which is somehow worse, and Theon just wants to win for once (Robb sulks about it for the rest of the night, gets distracted by his girlfriend trying to cheer him up, and Walder fucking Frey, who was only invited because he’s Edmure’s father in law and “come on, Cat, I know he’s hard to get along with but he’s Ros’s dad, let him come to family game night”, took over all of Robb’s territories with the Lannister crew’s help. Arya swears colorfully to wipe his pieces off the board, and gets grounded from the game for a few rounds by her mother.) Oberyn is still mad about Tywin sending his hired “security” to threaten Elia after she divorced Rhaegar and took the kids, so he takes every opportunity to humiliate the Lannisters. He is soundly beaten and fucks off upstairs with his long term girlfriend. Bran isn’t really playing, just sitting at the table watching with the rule book in front of him, and continually telling everyone when something is against the rules (Jaime cheated to beat him at monopoly once and bran has NEVER forgotten that.) Rickon had to go to bed early. The Boltons were not invited, after the one time they were and Ramsay made passes at Sansa and sent Theon to the hospital for defending her. They spend the night calling in noise complaints about the Stark house. Petyr Baelish has been banned from ever setting foot in Catelyn’s home, despite being married to her sister. Lysa is mad that Cat won’t let her new husband in the house, refuses to let Robin play “such a violent game”, and they leave early. Jon has been minding his own business quietly amassing himself a small army of pieces and allies, and he and Sansa (along with Jon’s elderly neighbor’s grandniece, freshly moved here from out of the country and desperate for friends) win the whole fucking game out of nowhere. Cersei flips the board in anger. Is this how risk works I haven’t played in forever

played a game of ck3agot tonight where:

robert lost the rebellion. he and stannis were executed so renly ended up as lord paramount (aka the good ending). unfortunately for him loras was soulmates with some vyrwel boy but you can't win them all

lyanna survived (which hasn't happened to me before!), rhaegar divorced elia + disinherited aegon and rhaenys, and they had six kids all of whom were like textbook examples of stark genetics. daemon is rolling in his grave beholding what's become of his great valyrian dynasty

aerys died "under mysterious circumstances" and rhaella married joncon. i didn't catch it quick enough to see if she did it autonomously or if rhaegar set it up but either way it's very funny to imagine that rhaegar/jon conversation

the westerlands became stuck in a never ending loop of cersei installing herself at casterly rock and then being overthrown by tyrion vice versa. jaime was too busy having a sex scandal with one of the rhaegar/lyanna girls to notice
