i mean i get it, they want to amp up the ante for the year finale, but also just... bleh. kinda left a bad taste in my mouth if i'm being honest.

they already were upping the ante... like, if I have a narrative objection? it’s that this literally did happen before and I’d be way more interested in something else happening. them being able to do something about it together.

like, the nature of Night Vale and its tenuous place in reality is super fascinating and there’s all kinds of stuff that can happen with that. there’s... plenty of drama just from the shifting timeline already.

the point got home just fine. this did not drive it in effectively. it was just cruel, tbh, to have Carlos basically not present for so long, bring him back in such a GREAT way, and then.... that. like. okay. sure. ugh.

it’s come up before how they seem to have started thinking of the world to the exclusion of the characters, and this... does kind of drive that home, maybe.

9. Describe your perfect mate

this is really confusing to me as a mancunian does this mean mate as in the normal word for friend or mate as in like soulmate.

Uuuh, similar interests to me, so video games, cats and art. I love travelling so I’d like someone to come along with me (or at least someone who wouldn’t mind me travelling with friends)

Needs to get along with my parents (not hard). If you like art you’re in with mum, if you like folk music you’re in with my dad. They’ll adopt you if you don’t have a good family. Enjoying quizzes and puzzles is a big plus. If you’re strong enough to be able to pick me up A++++ (I don’t know why this is a thing I have).

43. How long was your longest relationship?

I’ve not really had a proper relationship bc something always gets in the way or they’ve been on/off things. Longest on/off one was 3 years.

61. What is the first thing you notice in someone?

I don’t notice anything bc I’m oblivious. Voice probably, I like listening to accents (if you’re not posh english or generic american & austrailian)

i was watching a streamer play sims while my msuic was playing and na na na came on. and then i remembered that mcr straight up did a sims version of na na na and it's the best thing ever !

yeah big agree :( i do miss the big arcs. and i get it. i don't wanna discourage experimentation with the formula, but i feel it would work best just being episodic individually than three parters. but man, year 5 is my absolute favourite year and it was precisely because of the buildup and character development and yet it also still had episodes with their own contained stories too, i feel longer arcs work better with the formula they do have.

Yeah! Like part of what I love about this show is seeing what these writers do, because it tends to be creative and interesting. In terms of “something different,” I thought Bedtime Story was better and I could contrast it to some of year 6 (from... what I remember although I’ll literally listen to it in like half an hour oops). A nonstandard format, but in a singular way, so it rather than feeling it awkward, it sticks out as interesting. And it’s another fun one to chew on as far as like... Why Cecil as a character is doing this?

Is he just sharing more personal things now, or is it more than that? The fact that he doesn’t interrupt for news segments at all suggests it might be - two of the A Story About episodes are like that except for Us, which has a community calendar segment.

Anyway I don’t know that this is a critique so much as a comment on like media experience (which sounds super pretentious oops), but one thing I was thinking listening to year 6 this time was like... they do manage to put enough into the three-episode arcs that it’s hard for me to envision the material squished into one episode - it’s a lot. But at the same time, listening to it all at once left me feeling like we got less than usual?

Like there was less going on, all bunched up and with the radio show segments between the main story getting kind of perfunctory, so it didn’t even things out very well.

But I don’t remember feeling that way as it was released, so? It might just be a matter of how it is listened to, which maybe is interesting in terms of traditional airing schedules vs binging and how media changes when experienced in different ways, and perhaps in ways it was not designed for. Which, again, isn’t strictly a bad thing.

...Anyway, probably more important than that, you made me think about how this would have been handled normally. The material WOULDN’T have been squished into one episode at all. We would have gotten maybe a smaller number of stories, but more spread out with updates, right? (And interspersed with segments of “story of the week” scenarios... maybe a fun opportunity to comment on how overworked the news cycle is, as the lingering issues keep getting buried but hey! That’s still important!)

For example: Dana would have maybe started advancing her plan regarding mayoral powers earlier, it would’ve developed more slowly over the year or some months, but it still could have culminated in the blood matter event?

oh! im not sure tbh… i think i must have realized by 7th or 8th grade… so abt 13 i guess? but i stayed in denial abt it for a long time, so much that i convinced myself that i had a crush on this girl in middle school… anyway later i realized there was no doubt abt me being gay but i tried to convince myself that i could eventually fall in love with a girl and marry her… i even kinda identified as a heteroromantic homosexual dftcghbj but not entirely srsly bcs i think i deep down knew i was gay… i think i didnt fully come to terms with me being gay until i was like 19

have you ever seen mcr live? i remember seeing them when i was a teen (the most current album out was black parade) and IT BLEW MY MIND it was amazing, fuck they really knew how to put on a show!!!

i haven’t! :( i got into them too late, unfortunately. and i’m not really one for live concerts, although GOD i can imagine that their showmanship would’ve been wild......... bless
