Scared? No, she’s terrified. Something like that has never happened to her and she thought she’d die right at that moment, but she can’t leave her daughter alone — she already lost her father, losing her mother would be too much for young little girl. Daeun has to be strong and go on, keep herself safe & sound to go back home and see her baby going towards her with open arms and that gummy smile she loves oh, so much.

And she has no idea how all of that chaos started, all she can remember is that she was in one of her colleagues’ room to discuss about some documents and the other female had lighted up a scented candle — she has no idea of how the fire started, whe she had noticed, her colleague was screaming and the both of them were locked into the place.

So many things went through her mind at the moment, she had her eyes closed all the time and she cried, she cried desperatedly while thinking of poor little Dabin, she would lose her mother as well. But it only lasted until she saw him.

Is he an angel, coming from the skies above to take her soul and welcome her into heaven? God, how much she wishes he isn’t.

And after listening to what he says, she immediately reaches her arms over to hold onto him, tears in her eyes and still running down her cheeks desperatedly as she clings to him with all the strength she has left, voice is low in a whisper due to her dry throat. “Take me from here, please… Please…”

The air was getting thin by the second and everything around him was red hot. He could see some parts of the ceiling were already tumbling down and his only way to reach the first floor of the building had turned into a whirlpool of fire. He should've listened to his team, he should've asked for backup-- but there was no time. The two women needed his help and he was the only one scouring through the second floor that time. They were his responsibility.

"We will get out of here but I'm gonna need you to focus and trust me, is that clear?" demanded Seunghyun loudly, busy taking off his breathing apparatus for her to use. She needed it more than he did. And if anything, he had his experience with gas and smoke before to the point it was safe to say that the man himself was probably trained to breathe inside a smoke filled room albeit a few cases of dry coughs rolling out of his mouth. "We can't use the stairs so we're gonna have to go to the other room because it's the only space that has a window. You will jump, and my partners will catch both of you, understood?" he had no time for small talks of reassurance, no matter how petrified they were, they needed to move.

It wasn't easy to reach the room across the hall of the building. This was why he hated apartments, one small fire can easily spread across the whole building solely because of the thin walls and its narrow halls. Not once or twice that Seunghyun had to shield the two women from the burnt logs falling out of nowhere, hence the stinging pain nesting on his shoulder was not helping either. “Wait here--” commanded Seunghyun as he headed towards the window that he soon had to break open using his elbow. It was stuck, and again, he had no other choice-- everything around them was either burning or already burnt. “Go, go, go!!”

                           “  ... sorry.  ”  nathan mutters under his breath, plush lips barely parting in the process before lowering his head along with his gaze. given the minimum amount of details that he’s gotten to know about the tragic episode she went through, he doesn’t dare to show this strange desire of knowing more. that’s something he’ll never be able to get rid of.   ❪   this   PATHOLOGICAL  curiosity   ❫   of his that’s been seeded from a very early stage of his life.  “  i really do not want to be insensitive with you.. that really isn’t my intention.  ”  no way he’d let this pass without one of his apologies.  

                          “  whenever i have a business meeting, i   ❪  always   ❫  think of my father.  ”  the confession makes its appearance out of blue, but that’s just his way of showing that he understands the situation more than she’d imagine, despite his constant hesitation when it comes to speaking about his father’s death.  “  when i was seventeen   ------   and even younger, i often had to accompany him and at that time, i really hated it. now i   WISH  he would be there with me..  ”
