ENTANGLED ━━━ chapter one
pairing: gojo satoru x zenin f! reader
series masterlist┊next chapter
synopsis: you — the daughter of zenin naobito (the head of the zenin clan), born with no cursed energy and therefore deemed to be the disgrace of the clan — have only one dream. to escape from your own blood that’s rejected you ever since birth, even if it means you have to dirty your hands in the process. when simply running away is not an option, for they would indubitably find you and drag you back for worse, you find your getaway in the arms of an enemy clan
warnings: MDNI, canon divergent, non-linear narrative (a lot of jumping back and forth between past & present, it’s indicated accordingly), female reader, she/her pronouns, reader is a zenin born without cursed energy, discrimination, abuse and bullying during childhood (she gets the toji treatment :/), brief mention of direct maternal death (regarding reader’s mother), childhood friends that fall out but come together, marriage of convenience (but with a twist), eloping, pining, kind of slow burn ngl, ijichi, shoko, geto, naoya + naobito cameo, mentions of food and alcohol, terms of endearment (calls you miss zenin, bride-o-mine, then mrs gojo later on + sweetheart <- so do you but with a lot of sarcasm behind it), sexual tension, male masturbation, although it’s left vague there’s some elements of incestuous behaviors on naoya’s end, wc: 9.3k

VI. Bad Faith — the day after The First Night.
The News
Nobody could ever predict what Gojo Satoru was up to, except for one specific behavioral aspect of his — those who’ve spent a fair amount of time around him could easily figure that whatever it was on that man’s mind, it was, without any doubt, unorthodox and crazy.
Yet every now and then, Gojo Satoru managed to outdo himself and exceed even their wildest expectations. This time — by dropping a bomb nobody saw coming, especially not from him.
“Gojo-san, there’s an upcoming mission assigned to your students, and you are to supervise them throughout it”, Ijichi hands a document regarding the occasion, but his arms hang in the air as the blindfolded man is absorbed in a rather peculiar activity, patently unwilling to receive the papers.
“Eeeh”, Satoru drags out a displeased whine, without even bothering to look at Ijichi. Currently seated and mindlessly spinning around in a swivel chair that he rummaged out earlier that day from one of the storage units in Jujutsu High and dragged into the classroom for god knows why. His entire attention focused on keeping his long legs up in the air as he spins as fast as he can without possibly breaking the chair, but still, he shows some semblance of interest. “When? Where? What’s it about?”, the words spoken in slow monotone.
If you look at the papers, you might know the answer to all these, Gojo-san. Ijichi thinks to himself but, of course, doesn’t dare say it out loud. “It’s in two days from now, the location is—”
“Stop right there”, Satoru cuts him off, ceasing his childish ministrations with his feet landing a heavy stomp on the floor. He slowly gets up. “In two days?”, he rubs his chin, thinking, “I am afraid, I can’t. I am getting married then”
Of course, you are. Ijichi thinks in an internal monologue.
“With all due respect, Gojo-san”, he clears his throat to push back the laughter that’s about to climb up and out his throat. “You could’ve come up with a better excuse than this to, umm—”, after fixing his glasses, he continues, “—ditch your duties”
“That was not an excuse, Ijichi, nor was it a joke. I can’t believe you think so lowly of me as a teacher”
For a second there, the evident seriousness in his voice sends a shiver down Ijichi’s spine, which, to be honest, is not entirely caused by the way Gojo spoke to him, but also what he spoke of just now. “I really am getting married”, he repeats.
“Oh?”, Ijichi’s eyes widen, unable to utter another word other than an exclamation while processing the credibility of his words. This man is not joking? This man, of all men, is getting married? For real?
“To be more precise — in two days from now, I will be busy kidnapping this bride-o-mine”
“Oh?!”, still speechless, another gasp leaves Ijishi’s mouth. “You’re eloping?”
“That is correct, ten points for you Ijichi!”, Satoru claps his hands. “Keep this a secret for the time being. I know it's a matter of time for everyone to know, but I'd rather they found out after it’s official since prying eyes might get in our way and spoil our plans. Got it?”
Ijichi only nods in return.
“Good. As for the mission — let Nanami handle it in my stead, the students will be fine as long as he’s with them”
After Satoru left, excusing himself with a “oh, so many things to do before the big day, you know?” spoken with his trademark silly chuckle, Ijichi stood there in the empty classroom for a while, frozen. Shocked to his core still, but now also curious. Who was that woman to make Gojo Satoru want to marry her?
The Proposal
(two weeks ago)
“To say I was surprised to get a call from you would be an understatement, Miss Zenin”, Satoru grinned at you, taking off his sunglasses immediately upon your arrival and placing them on the table.
It’s not that you were late — he was simply early, something quite bizarre for him honestly. Already ordered drinks for the both of you and waiting for you to show up with his legs crossed and fingers nervously tapping on the table — again, being nervous was something quite unusual for him as well.
“And to ask me to meet you here of all places—”, he sprawled out on the chair, leaning his back against the wooden splat, his long legs reaching the other side of the table from beneath and pushing the chair there with his feet to invite you to sit. He was being a gentleman in his own way, to which you rolled your eyes but made no remark. “Are you going to ask me to kill someone for you?”, a mocking chuckle escaped his lips after he finished his sentence.
“Not necessarily”, you replied, unamused.
The day before, you called him. Asking to meet you here, in this secluded spot disguised as a cafe which regular people avoided, since it was a place swarmed by dangerous individuals and illegal activities. Drugs, kidnapping, assassination — whatever shady dealing you could think of. It had to be this place, after all there was no way for a Zenin to meet a Gojo out in the open, considering the bad blood between the two clans since generations ago. Especially not the daughter of Zenin Naobito, the clan head, and Gojo Satoru, the pride and leader of the Gojo clan. It would’ve caused consequences, for you at least.
“You’ve got some balls to come here alone though, I must admit. As intriguing as always”, Satoru scoffed. “I don’t remember the last time I sat this close to you. Not since we were kids”, his lips slightly curved into a nostalgic smile as he reminisced about old times. “Now you avoid me anywhere you see me, like I’m some sort of disease”, and the smile shifted back to a regular one, although you could tell it was forced, just to keep his usual nonchalant appearance. “Not that we meet outside of clans’ gatherings, but still—”
“Can we skip the yapping and cut to the chase? I don’t have much time”, you interrupted. “Sure, Miss Zenin”, he shot back.
Miss Zenin. The way he called you that annoyed you abysmally, and that probably was his intention all along. But you had to ignore it for now, you really didn’t have much time on your hands — you had to go back home before anyone would notice you weren’t around.
“I have a favor to ask, actually — it’s more of a proposal”
“Listening”, his head tilting to the side, eyes locked on your lips, awaiting the words.
“Will you marry me?”
Silence.
It took him a few seconds before he could speak, pondering in his head whether he heard you right. Eventually the only word he could utter was “What?”, to which you said nothing. You figured it was best to give him some time to process the information.
“What’s the catch?”, he spoke again, eyes now squinting.
“Glad you asked”, you gave him a knowing smile.
“Of course. I would say it’s a joke but no way you’d call me out of the blue just to pull my leg”
“True, it isn’t a joke”
“I believe it’s not out of love either? Unless... I am wrong? Have you been harboring such strong feelings towards me all these years?”, his tone slowly transitioning back into mocking after the initial shock had faded.
Rolling your eyes, you scoffed. “You wish. See, that would only happen in your dreams”
Laughing, he slowly shifted in his seat. Leaning his body forward to rest an elbow on the table and press a cheek against his palm, his other hand playing with the straw of his drink. “So, you want out of the clan, huh? And finally have the courage to do it”
“You figured?”
“Well, I grasp things quickly. Considering how the Zenins treat women and especially those born without cursed energy, like yourself, this wasn’t hard to predict. But I am surprised by the choice of your method”
“And I am surprised you didn’t cut me out by now since this was a shot in the dark”, you eyed him, baffled but pleasantly.
“Let’s say I am intrigued by your proposal, which turned out to be quite unromantic, but I'll look past it”, a mystifying grin splattered on his lips. "Also, as you already know, there’s a Zenin or two I am willing to help”, he laughed. “So, tell me — what’s in that beautiful head of yours?”
"Well, as you already guessed — I want to leave the clan. Being a Zenin is not for me, never has been. I’ve been treated like an abomination all my life, looked down upon like I barely fit the criteria to be human in their eyes just because I was not gifted with abilities, and I am done with it”, you paused, trying to hold back the cracking of your voice. All the years of mistreatment washing over you as you spoke. You took a deep breath, “Simply running away is not an option, they will find me and drag me back for worse. You know it. But if you help me—”
“—their hands will be tied”, he finished your sentence.
You nodded. “They can’t go against you. Well, there might be a slight commotion, namely coming from my brother, Naoya. But he won’t do anything brash without father’s approval”
“That lousy brat? I didn’t know the two of you were so close”, Satoru lifted an eyebrow, a bit bothered by this.
“We’re not, but it’s complicated”
He got the message — you did not wish to talk about it. And he’d let it slide. For now. “And you think you’ll be free once you become a Gojo?”
“Not immediately, but eventually — yes. I don’t plan on staying by your side until death do us part, you know”
“What an eventful meeting this turned out to be — first I get a marriage proposal, and now a divorce, all at once”, he laughed, covering his eyes with a hand. Perhaps to hide something in them that didn’t quite align with his laughter. “What if I get attached and refuse to let you go?”, he spoke, with a tone more serious that it took you aback a bit. “Have you considered this?”
“Are you a comedian now?”, you brushed it off. “We both know such thing won’t happen”
“How come you’re so sure?”
“It’s happened before, you know it”
“We were kids back then”, he smiled softly, with a sprinkle of regret on his lips. “We used to sneak out to spend time together, but things are different now”
“But you stopped coming”
“My training got more intense, didn’t have time for games anymore”
“You bet. I know you did it to keep me out of trouble. You were aware I was getting scolded and punished for meeting you”
“Oh?”, he gasped. “You knew?”, a powerless laughter followed the realization that all these years you didn’t just avoid him out of spite. Part of him felt at ease about it, that you always understood him, even without words. Just like back then. Maybe because you were both a mutation of a different breed — a special boy put on a pedestal by many, a monster if you will; and a nonspecial girl looked down upon by her own blood as a disappointment, barely a human — yet the loneliness you carried weighed the same on your hearts.
“Yea”, you sighed. “Back then you did it to keep me out of trouble, now you’ll do it to get me out of one. When the time comes, we’ll separate but keep it a secret. If my clan finds out, they won’t let it slide. I’ll show up for gatherings every now and then, to dodge any possible suspicions, but that’s all. Treat this like a deal”
“That’s all good, but deals require an equivalent exchange so both parties benefit from it. You get your freedom. But what about me — what do I get in return?”
Your lips curved into a scarce smile, delighted that he was willing to negotiate. This could actually work, you thought. “Well, it’s not like your family will be very pleased to have me but still. The most important thing is, you won’t ever have to deal with the blind dates your clan sets you up on, with an arranged marriage in mind. I bet they’re nagging you about it constantly since you’re pretty much of age now”
“What my clan is concerned about is an heir, marriage is just a stepping stone. How will this temporary thing between us do that? Temporary and fake on top of that?”, he questioned through a scorn.
“I’ll give you a child”, you shot at him in a heartbeat, voice unwavering. This was part of the plan after all.
“What?”, he laughed, tilting his head in pure astonishment at your offer.
“We will lead a normal married life, like a proper wife and husband. I’ll have your child, this secures me even better. That way I’ll be tied to the Gojo clan forever, not the Zenin”
“You’re aware what we need to do in order for you to have my child, right?”
You were, but when he put it like that your face got hot against your will, heat burning your cheeks and sizzling on your ears. “I am”, you mumbled, unable to look him in the face. Petrified to meet his gaze.
“You really are insane”, he covered his face with both hands. Perhaps he was petrified, too.
“Coming from you that’s rather concerning. Now back to the point — you up for it?”
“Alright. Let’s do it”
Sealing The Deal
(back to present)
For the past two days Satoru pulled all the strings possible in order to speed up the marriage procedure. He diligently prepared all the needed documents to officially register your matrimony. All that was left was to go to the ward office and submit the marriage application after signing it along with two witnesses.
With that, today would mark your last day as a Zenin.
“Do you know who the girl is?”, Shoko asks, leaning against the wall in the ward office hallways, waiting for Satoru and the mystery bride to arrive.
Geto shrugs from next to her, “Nope, no clue. Still trying to wrap my head around the fact that this is happening — he is actually getting married”
“You of all people didn’t know he was involved with someone?”, she scoffs, turning her head in his direction. “Strange, maybe he was hiding the love of his life from you so you wouldn’t snatch her away”
“He wasn’t involved with anyone, if he was — we both would’ve known. Besides, what do you mean by that? I would never break the bro code, come on”
A semblance of a lazy laugh slips through Shoko’s lips. One can tell she didn’t get much sleep (again) by how lethargic and unenthusiastic her reactions were. “Girls end up falling for you always, so maybe he chickened out to introduce her”
“That’s because he sucks with girls”, Geto snorts.
Satoru wasn’t exactly the sweep-you-off-your-feet type of guy. His looks were bewitching, that was a given, and women would latch on him, only to give up shortly after. And all the reviews were unanimous — I want someone that will put me first, but with him — I don’t see it ever happening, his mind is elsewhere.
“Maybe he finally caved in after years of his family pestering him to get married”, Shoko throws another guess.
“Satoru caving in to an arranged marriage? Seriously, Shoko... Does he look like the type to listen to what elders tell him to do?”
“He never looked like the marrying type either, yet here we are”
“I don’t know”, Geto sighs heavily. “This is way too odd”
“Hey, hey~”, Satoru’s voice echoes through the hallways. “Sorry to keep you waiting, my bride was barely able to sneak out from the Zenins. You know how the old farts there are”
Hearing the name Zenin, Shoko and Geto glance at each other with the same perplexed look in their eyes. A Zenin? Sneaking out?
Forcing a somewhat adequate smile, you shake their hands. You could tell they were taken aback after hearing your name, it was written all over their faces that they didn’t quite endorse this insane whim of Satoru’s.
“Satoru, can I have a quick word with you”, Geto pulls him to the side after giving you a polite smile as a form of apology.
“Are you eloping?”, he whispers, although quite audibly, “With a Zenin? Have you actually lost your mind, Satoru?”
“Suguru”, Satoru lazily drapes an arm over Geto’s shoulder, “Yes to your first question, as for the second — have you ever seen me be normal about anything?”, he laughs.
“Not the right time to humor your misery, Satoru”, Geto says through gritted teeth all while forcing a smile looking your way, to avoid any awkward impression on your end that the two of them were talking about you (even though that’s exactly what was going on). “There’s existent animosity between your clans already, are you trying to start an actual war all over again?”, he snaps, giving a sharp nudge to his side.
“Ouch~”, Satoru yelps. “Come on, Suguru. What can they do to me?”, his words brimming with confidence compel Geto to rub the bridge of his nose in annoyance. “Do you remember, that one time on the rooftop back when we were still students in Jujutsu High, I told you about a girl from my childhood?”, Satoru continues.
Geto nods. He does remember it vividly, after all it was the first and last time Satoru has ever talked about a girl of his own accord and with so much passion behind his voice.
“That’s her.”
“It’s our turn”, Shoko interrupts. “Let’s go get you married”
As you all entered the hall, Suguru gave Satoru a soft pat on the back and glanced over his shoulder at Shoko with a validating nod.
Satoru got a pass from his moral compass.
--
Signatures were inked, rings were exchanged, and vows were made to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do you part.
It is said that vows are crucial in a marriage, they set the tone for your relationship going forward and serve as a ground to build your values on. Whatever values could be built on a soil soaked with lies, you thought to yourself as you all walked out. As soon as the ceremony was over Shoko rushed out to get the dose of nicotine her body was yearning for the entire time inside the ward office, leaving you three behind.
There was nothing holy about your union, it was a lie to begin with. And, naturally, so were your vows. It shouldn’t bother you this much that you were to break the fake promises you just made to the man that handed you a one-way ticket to your freedom.
“What’s with the face, Mrs. Gojo?”, Satoru softly pokes you in the arm, the unease in your expression doesn’t go unnoticed by him. “We just tied the knot, yet you look like you just walked out of a funeral”
A funeral. Right. That’s how it felt to you.
You buried yourself, your past, in there. You got what you wanted, but part of you was terrified of the new person you were to become. Mrs. Gojo, huh? You were not in the right headspace to be snarky about it now.
“I’m fine. All these formalities are draining, that’s all”
“Then we’ve got to recharge”, he grins, then turns around and shouts at Geto who’s walking a few steps behind and scrolling on his phone, “Suguruuu, let’s celebrate, shall we?”
“Geez, you’re loud, Satoruuu”, he cracks an irked grimace, sticking a pinky finger into his ear.
“There’s no need for that”, you whisper, tugging at the hem of his shirt.
Satoru’s fingers trace over your knuckles, hesitant to get a proper hold of your hand, but he gives in anyway, “We have to pretend there is”, he speaks in a low voice, and wraps his hand around yours. “Besides, it’s lunchtime. We need to eat”
You don’t resist, neither his touch nor his words.
On your way to the restaurant that your (now) husband made a quick call to reserve a table for four, Satoru sat on the driver’s seat — a rare occasion, usually Ijichi drives him everywhere — glancing at you beside him on the passenger seat at every opportunity, studying your features and how much they’ve changed compared to his childhood memories of you. It’s not like he never saw you after that. But you’d never let him take a good long look at you, always running away the moment you noticed him around. Before he could know it, he was smiling, mouth agape — a soundless “ha” passing through the crack of his lips, the sunlight hitting his eyes, yet he couldn’t blink — he had to take you in. He was back to being a child at that moment, wearing his genuine feelings on his face without knowing how to mask them. And you... you were even prettier now.
The two sitting on the backseat exchanged an astounded look after observing the scene unfolding before their eyes. Who would’ve guessed that their friend had such a hidden, soft spot for someone and could make such genuine faces?
The Past
You were born with bad luck.
That’s what you told yourself. And that’s what others, who felt sorry for you, thought so too. Mostly those unfortunate enough to be servants in the Zenin clan that have witnessed way too many things happen to you.
First, you were born into the Zenin Clan as the daughter of Zenin Naobito, the leader — that alone was the biggest mishap the heavens bestowed you with. A problematic clan with questionable values, where owning powerful cursed techniques was held in highest regard and considered the measure of your worth as an individual and whether you were fit to be a Zenin. Rejecting, without an ounce of remorse, their own flesh and blood and looking down at them like inferior beings did they deem their ability weak and unworthy.
With that being said, here comes the second — you were born into that clan, with no cursed energy. You didn’t make the cut ever since the beginning. The clan didn’t even mourn the fact you were lacking, they simply treated you indifferently, and sometimes with disgust, like you were one of the servants — easily replaceable. “It’s not enough that you were born a girl, but you are also lacking the gift. You were never meant to be part of this family to begin with, the name of Zenin will abandon you once you get married”, your grandmother would often tell you, right before throwing you into the disciplinary pit with curses. Till then, maybe through some miracle you could manifest some cursed energy if she locked you up there for long enough, so you could be at least a little bit useful.
Wait. There’s a third, too — your mother lost her life giving birth to you. It’s not like you felt any guilt for that, you never knew what parental love was anyway, therefore didn't see it as a burden that weighed on your conscience. In fact, you were partly relieved that there was one person less to mistreat you there.
Your older brother, Zenin Naoya, would often use this to harass you. Telling you “Maybe you’re not that hopeless after all, since you killed mother. Or maybe that’s even worse — she’s going to be your only kill” with that revolting laugh of his.
Other kids looked down on you too, avoiding you like you carried some disease. There were rumors even, how childish, now what you think back — that if you came closer to them, you’d rid them of their powers and of their mothers too. Oddly enough, those rumors were started by none other than your brother. Perhaps he wanted to be the only one to pick on you. While he made every woman walk three paces behind him, he’d keep you close, telling you in a condescending manner “How am I to look down on you if you keep walking behind me, little lamb?”
And you truly were a little lamb. Living and growing only to get the life in you eaten away by the Zenins. A sacrifice for no good.
But the summer of your sixth year was different.
You met a boy.
He looked like winter in the middle of summer. Snow-white hair falling over his face and likewise lashes, sitting like tender snowflakes on his eyelids. The bluest blue in his eyes you had ever seen in your life, and if you stared long enough it’d throw you into a trance.
There was a sense of loneliness to him akin to winter too.
How when the cold months came around, people would spend less time outside and instead run to their homes to warm up in front of the fireplace. He was the winter people were hiding from.
And you figured, you had heard of him. He was the special boy of the Gojo Clan, the first in centuries to inherit both The Limitless and The Six Eyes, whose birth alone shifted the power balance in the world, who had a bounty over his head at such a young age for being a force too great to be kept alive.
He was the complete opposite of you, yet somehow the same as you. One rejected for being too much, and the other — for not being enough. Both were similarly exhausting, arduous, and lonely.
You first met during a clans’ gathering. The big three brought together under one roof to discuss some matters you can’t quite recall now, just like you don’t remember the reason you were brought along. Perhaps to carry stuff around, like you always did.
An exchange of shy glances as you waited outside, sitting on the wooden engawa (veranda) led you both slowly scooching over closer to one another, until the gap between you was small enough that you could see how his heartbeat made the collar of his kimono flutter ever so slightly.
“Is it sweet?”, the boy pointed at the popsicle in your hand. “It is”, you answered along with a nod. Bringing it up to his mouth — “Want some?” — you invited him to take a bite as he looked at you with uncertain eyes. A blush painting a beautiful cherry hue on the pale complexion of his cheeks. He nibbled on the side of it — “It is!” — his eyes grew wide, a glow in them.
“You’ve never had one? — surprise in you voice. “Of course, I have”, he lied, scratching the back of his head, a bit embarrassed of possibly seeming uncool in your eyes.
He had a strict regime when it came to the food he consumed. Whatever he put into his mouth had to be of great value and nutrition, diligently prepared by the best chefs, so his body, or as others saw it — the shell where a god resided in — would grow healthy and strong to be on par with his powers.
It was the first time you shared food with someone else. You usually ate alone, disgusted by the Zenins surrounding you around the table that your throat felt too tight to swallow anything that you put in your mouth, be it water even.
And it was the first friend you ever made. While everyone up until now turned a blind eye and avoided you, he didn’t run. He even stayed.
Introducing himself as “Satoru" only, he deliberately refrained from saying his full name at first. When you never pushed him to reveal it, he turned a bit fidgety.
“You never asked about my last name” — lips slightly pursed, the muscles on his face fighting off a pout but failing eventually. “Maybe I’m not that interested in you” — tilting your head, you teased, yet — “Just kidding, I know who you are” — you quickly added upon seeing his brows knitting in dejection. “But you can be just Satoru with me”
From that day onward you’d meet in secret every now and then, whenever both of you could manage to sneak out. For just a little bit. To eat popsicles and other sweet things together.
That was, until your brother found out.
Naoya always kept tabs on you after all. You were a prey to him, and chasing you was like a game. It was only a matter of time before he knew. Or perhaps he did already but let you sneak out on purpose so he could use it to his avail and torment you further.
Naturally, the time you spent with Satoru fell shorter compared to that spent in the disciplinary pit. “That’s to teach you a lesson, little lamb”, Naoya would say with a twisted look in his eyes as he locked you up in there.
At times like this, you’d remember your grandmother’s words — “the name of Zenin will abandon you once you get married”.
...and an idea brewed in your mind.
If you could run away right now, you would. But where would you go? What would you do? You were only six. If your own flesh and blood was this cruel to you, how could you expect the outside world to treat you any better?
You were not that naive. You knew you had to wait.
You endured the endless hours that felt like days and weeks in that pit, surviving by pure miracle every time. Or was it hope that kept you fighting? Because you knew, by the end of it, as long as you were alive, you’d find a way to meet your friend, the only one you had. And maybe he could save you one day. Maybe, tomorrow you could make a promise to each other — that when the time came and you were both of age, you would take his last name and be freed of the curse you were born with.
...but Satoru never showed up.
(to be continued)
The First Night
(back to present)
It was getting late. You spent more time than originally planned at lunch with Shoko and Geto as everyone had already cleared out their schedules for the day to join you on your escapade.
You thought at first, that the entire time you would have to dodge questions such as How did this happen? When did you start seeing each other? When did you decide it was time? Who proposed? How? Doesn’t the animosity between your clans worry you? Have you considered the consequences even? Are you perhaps pregnant? Is this why all the rush is for?, etc...
But that never happened. Neither of them pried, nor made you uncomfortable invading your personal space. In fact, they made you loosen up a bit by being warm and friendly, already treating you like one of them, mocking Gojo’s constant mischiefs in front of you. The setting resembled that of a parent-teacher meeting where you were in the role of the parent, and they were the teachers complaining to you about Gojo. It was a rather humbling experience for the whitehaired man who sat there pouting and subtly gesturing for them to cut it.
But when he heard you laughing at their stories, he ceased. Sucking it up, he let them continue playfully bashing him. He had really missed your laugh.
“So~ we’re here — welcome to your new home”, Satoru points at the huge mansion after helping you hop out of the car. One of the bodyguards in the yard immediately took the keys from his hand and drove the car away to park it in the garage area.
To say this thing before your eyes was huge would be an understatement actually. After you quickly scanned the place you noticed there were a few more houses built around the mansion, and perhaps even behind it.
The Gojo household was located in a huge, fenced area with a single front entrance, for security purposes (so it would always be known who walked in and out under meticulous surveillance), leading to a big yard with a well-kept garden befitting the Gojo Clan. The first house in front, and the biggest, was the main mansion — inhabited by Satoru’s parents and grandparents (from his father’s side), while extended family (like aunts, uncles, cousins — basically the most important members of the clan) resided in the ones around it.
Satoru, despite being the clan head, did not live in the main mansion. His place was relatively isolated from the rest (ironically resembling the life he led and the powers he had), situated far behind all the houses, right before a path that led to a forest-like area as part of the Gojo property.
“No way”, you gasp — “Don’t tell me you live with your entire clan?” — as you quickly pad forward, leaving him a few steps behind, to further inspect the place.
“Not technically but yea, we stick together — clan traditions deem it this way”, he sighs.
“Never took you as the tradition following guy, to be honest”
He chuckles, “What can I say — I am full of surprises~ But truthfully, as the clan head I can’t just up and leave, you know? Besides...” — a pause, observing you as your eyes roam around studying the place, head turning from one side to the other in astonishment. Then his gaze shifts to his left hand. Lifting it slightly and spreading his fingers to look at his ring, and then back at you. “...sometimes deeply rooted habits are hard to break. Especially if one holds onto them for too long. It’s hard to let go no matter what kind of person you are”
“There’s something even beyond you, Gojo Satoru?”, your voice almost mocking but somehow lacking the right tone to it, too distracted by your surroundings.
He laughs, “Maybe. Just one little thing only” — words mumbled under his breath, too soundless for your ears to catch on.
--
After you made it in, he gave you a full tour around the house. Walking you through each and every room, thoroughly explaining where things were and how you could touch up anything you desired and change it to your liking — this was now your home, too.
The last stop was the bedroom.
“Should I carry you in bridal style? That’s how newlyweds do it~”, Satoru smirks at you, arms crossed around his waist, his side leaning against the doorframe.
You were about to make a face there for a second and give him an eyeroll, maybe even pick on him for watching way too many romcoms, but you held back.
“Sure, why not”, you mumble instead, looking down.
After all, before you was the room where certain things were to happen in, according to your deal, and you thought it’s best to let him indulge in this play pretend and carry you in as your feet were frozen in their tracks anyway. Nervous of what was ahead, you couldn’t bring yourself to move.
“Oh?” — caught off guard, not expecting you to actually go along with it, he gasps, but then — “Right?” — quickly plays it cool. “Alright, bride-o-mine, here we go”
Charging towards you with a slow step, he leans down so your eyes are on equal level, face an inch away from yours. So close that, as he cracks his lips open to swipe a tongue across them his hot breath feels like steam against your skin. Licking his lips, a habit you were painfully familiar with, it was something he did when he got nervous that seemingly didn’t change from when he was little.
He scoops you up effortlessly, holding you tight but tenderly at the same time. His fingers clutching firmly around you yet at the same time careful enough to not bruise you. “Almost there”, he pushes the creaked door open with his foot and carries you in through the doorway.
Flustered, you turn your head the other way in an attempt to hide the heat eliciting from your face. You were way too close. His scent invading your nostrils, you could almost distinguish his natural body odor from his perfume.
“Oh, my... If you shy away this easily”, he carefully sits you on the bed — “how are we to make that baby~ Hm?” — and smugly smirks as he plops down next to you right after, his knee scarcely brushing against your leg.
“Tch...”, you click your tongue, heat still spreading like fire on your cheeks, and even far up to your ears. “Didn’t know you wanted to bed me right away?” — is he really going to jump on you now? Why bring up the baby talk otherwise...
He gasps in an overexaggerated manner, gluing fingertips to his mouth, “Thought I could give you some time to adjust, but if you insist...”
“Ugh, Gojo”, you aim a reflex eyeroll his way.
“What now, are you talking to yourself?”
“Excuse me?”, you lift a brow.
“You’re a Gojo too now, you know?”, a grin on his lips, the kind he makes when he’s about to win something. “When you refer to me, you have to say my first name — Sa-to-ru — to avoid any confusion~”
See, that was his goal all along — to make you call him by name, just like in the past.
...but two can play this game. You had no intention of losing this battle to him.
“Sweetheart”, your tone overly delicate on purpose, as you tilt your head, cheek pressing against your shoulder. “Isn’t this better?”, you flutter your lashes at him.
His reaction comes slow. The full grin from a second ago is now a half, the other half — a surprise, with a sprinkle of a new, unknown to you glint in his eyes. “You’re playing a dangerous game there, sweetheart”, he breathes, scooching closer to you. An arm finding its way around your waist, wrapping itself from the small of your back all the way front, hand stopping at your navel.
A flinch shudders through your body, but he’s got you still, you can’t pull away. “What happened to giving me time to adjust?”, you mutter, not as feisty anymore. This was a side you haven’t seen to him, which you figured was natural. You knew him as a kid, now — he was a man. And like all men do, he was acting on his urges.
“You push my buttons”, he’s leaning closer, and closer, and closer, until your noses are brushing and breaths are exchanging. His free hand rolling up and tucking the few strands of hair falling on your face behind your ear, then slowly sliding to the back of your neck. “Trying to get me excited?”
“If a mere endearment excites you this much, what will become of you when I say your name?”
He laughs, his breath infesting your mouth. Lips accidentally grazing yours from the action itself, which draws a low, helpless hum out of him. “Care to find out?”
You jolt — something about the way he was looking at you told you this wasn’t just some simple teasing — and finally bring your hands to use and push him away and get up. “I need a shower”
“Ah, got all hot and bothered? It’s okay, I am used to it — I have this type of effect on women all the time~”, he chuckles, earning yet another eyeroll from you. Reaching behind to grab a pillow and sit it on his lap, subtly hiding the fact that he got all hot and bothered, too. “You know where the bathroom is, sweetheart”
He won this round.
--
Satoru is still sitting in the bed, back relaxed against the headboard with one foot thrown over the other on the mattress, as you make your way out of the bathroom. You smell like him now, he thinks — only natural after having to use his shower gel and shampoo — as your freshly showered self approaches the side of the bed your pajamas were carefully folded and placed at. He took it upon himself to buy them for you, along with some clothes, and shoes, and bags, since you couldn’t pack and take anything with you.
“Can you, umm”, you fidget, “turn around or something? I want to get dressed”
“There you go again, shying away from your own husband”, he smugly teases.
“Oh, you want to watch so bad? How perverse of you, sweetheart”, you mock, loosening the belt of your bathrobe so the fabric covering your shoulders slides down a bit, revealing more of your flesh.
There’s a good chance for this reverse psychology to backfire now, you think, but you just couldn’t make peace with him picking on you like that.
He shifts in his place, now sitting up on the opposite side, legs touching the ground and his back turned against you. The transition was so quick and instinctive as if he, by sheer luck, dodged a bullet aimed to take his life. “I’d love to stay for the show but, you see...”, he rubs the back of his neck, “I need to check the report regarding my students’ mission from today”
“I see”, a victorious smirk on your lips as you watch him walk away.
This round was yours. Now you were even.
--
You were going to be trouble.
The report was, of course, an excuse. He had to make it out of the room, or he would’ve done something terrible to you.
His face burning hot as he quickly stripped himself of his clothes in one of the guest rooms downstairs and went straight into the bathroom to cool off. An aching pulse on his groin dragging inaudible curses from his mouth. Fuck, fuck, fuck.
A stream of ice-cold water hitting his face, hugging his shoulders, cascading down the rest of his well-built body before washing down into the drain. He stands there still and completely unaffected by the temperature. He was burning inside.
Eyes shut, he thinks about you — about the way that bathrobe loosely enveloped your frame, about the gap temptingly revealing bits of your cleavage, leaving little to the imagination... about sliding his hands down into that very gap and pushing it open, taking the fabric covering your shoulders in his hands and pulling it down your arms to expose your breasts... about clasping both of your wrists behind the small of your back while his other hand moves to the side of your face and holds your chin before kissing you hungrily... then moving to your jawbone, and then lower, and lower... and lower, kissing and nibbling until he reaches your nipples, and then further below...
His hand relentlessly stroking his cock to the visual of you in his imagination. Part of him absolutely disgusted by what he was doing right now, thinking how he was tainting the innocent girl from his memories. But then another, the one he couldn’t suppress — shamelessly trying to picture even beyond, making up in his mind what he thought your sweet expressions and obscene sounds would be like under his touch.
His balls tighten up to him as he pumps himself from base to head with firm strokes, low growls rising from his throat echo through the walls the faster his hand works up and down his shaft.
The tension soon leaves his body, his cum oozing out from between his fingers and spraying all over the bathroom tiles.
Oh, you were going to be trouble for sure...
--
“What puzzles me though, is that nobody has called you all day”, he walks into the bedroom, a towel wrapped around his hips. “In all honesty, it’s been bugging me for a while now”, a hand brushes back his damp hair.
“They think I’m staying over at a friend’s place”, trying to ignore the view before you, you avert your gaze from him and his ridiculously lean body and well sculpted six pack that looked way too perfect to be real. He probably came here half naked, on purpose, to get back at you for earlier... Say nothing, say nothing, say nothing — you kept internally repeating to yourself. Play it cool.
“And they let you?”, he casually saunters over to you, his hand reaching behind you to grab a hold of his nightwear sitting on his pillow. Seriously? He had to walk all the way to your side only to reach for the pajamas placed on his? What a sore loser...
“Mhm”, you hum, lips tight and eyes looking down at your lap, “I managed to convince father. The odds were in our favor, I guess? — But I have to pay them a visit tomorrow, to deliver the news”
“We will pay them a visit”, he corrects you. “I’m coming with you”
“You don’t have to”
“But I want to”, he insists, his resolve is solid.
“Okay”, you don’t resist any further. “What about your family? When are we telling them?”
He makes his way to the bathroom inside the room, while still speaking to you from over there. At least he’s not as shameless to get dressed in front of you.
“They’re easy, I’ll talk to them some time tomorrow. Might organize a little thing to introduce my wife properly, heheh”
“How do you think they’ll take the news? I mean, I know they won’t endorse it but — on a scale from one to ten, how bad do you think it will be?”
“What does it matter when it’s fait accompli? Besides, they can’t go against my decisions, so”, he shrugs after making it back, fully dressed now. Thanks god. But wait...
“Did you seriously get us matching pajamas?”, you look him up. He was wearing the exact same pair in blue, while yours was a light shade of pink.
“Yea?”, he emits a dorky snicker. “Don’t you think it’s cute?”
“Ew, cringe”, you fight back a snort.
What a truly bothersome man...
Bad Faith
— (n.) dishonest behavior with the intention of deceiving someone. “bad faith” refers to dishonesty or fraud in a transaction. depending on the exact setting, bad faith may mean a dishonest belief or purpose, untrustworthy performance of duties, neglect of fair dealing standards, or a fraudulent intent
You slept well for once in your life, despite being in a new place, a new bed — you knew you owed it to the fact you were away from the Zenins.
The same can’t be said about Gojo though.
He stayed wide awake all night, restless, turning and tossing, making occasional visits to the shower even, to calm it down. Annoyed to some extent by how he was the only one in turmoil while you innocently slept next to him, unaware of his condition. He felt like an insatiable teenager all over again. How embarrassing, he thought...
During the whole car ride to the Zenins, he kept yawning and rubbing his eyes from beneath his pitch-black sunglasses that were adeptly hiding his dark sleepless circles caused by none other than you.
“You can wait in the car”, you try your chance one last time after arriving.
“I said I’m coming with you, so don’t waste your breath”
“Fine”
After you both make it past the gates of the Zenin household, the few of the servants standing in the veranda quickly pad inside — most likely to bring it to your father’s attention, you think.
All the rest you got the night before instantly leaves your body now that you’re in Zenin territory, your chest filled with unease as you cross the threshold of the place that, despite being so big, could never quite fit you in and be a home to you.
Your mouth feels too dry, you try to swallow the lump in your throat, but it keeps sitting there like an immovable object, growing bigger even the further you step in.
Unknowingly, you’re grabbing Satoru’s hand, squeezing it tight. “Relax. I am right here”, he leans in to soothingly whisper in your ear, which makes you realize your actions. You pull your hand away, picking up your pace.
...only to slow down and take a step back the moment your eyes fixate on none other than your brother, Naoya, leaning against the wall in the hallway. Waiting for you. His hair falling on his face, covering the look in his eyes but by the way his teeth bite into his lower lip, you can tell — he’s not thrilled by the view of you together.
“Well, well”, a loud, hysterical laughter erupts from Naoya’s mouth as he strolls over to you, thumbing the bridge of his nose. “If this doesn’t remind me of good old times when my little sister would sneak out to play with you — are you perhaps falling back into that bad habit of yours, little lamb?”
You flinch as Naoya’s claw-like hand reaches for your shoulder, ready to hook his grip on you, but with a swift move Gojo stands in front of you and stops your brother, leaving him unable to go any further due to his infinity. “Hello to you too”
Naoya clicks his tongue, not pleased with the impenetrable intrusion. “Tch... Move, don’t butt in in family matters”
Satoru chuckles condescendingly, “I am family too now, you know? — Dear brother-in-law"
A jarring burst of inconsistent, unsettling laughter follows this declaration, each sound leaving Naoya’s lips grows more hectic and twisted, the tone wavering between low and high, and it sends a chill down your spine.
“Huh... sis... that true?”, the deranged madness in his voice dying down now, but he speaks with a timbre of sinisterness. His eyes wide, unblinking and staring right at you with piercing lunacy in them.
He had the same exact maniacal aura to him right now, just like years ago when he first confronted you about the secret escapades with Satoru.
Terrified, you hug your shoulders. Head turned the other way, trying to hide from the sharp daggers in his gaze.
You only manage a nod, and the sick sound from seconds ago echoes through the hallway once again.
“You—”, Naoya grits his teeth, trying to draw near you but the whitehaired man before him won’t budge. “How long have you been plotting this for, huh?”
Irritated at Gojo’s technique that leaves him unable to come any closer and wipe that mighty grin off his face, Naoya takes his frustration out on the wall by punching a hole right through it. “You fucking as—”
“Naoya”, your father’s voice approaching from behind him interrupts the commotion. “Go cool your head off”
“Tch...”, it’s not that he feels like complying, no. His arrogant self would never bow down to anyone, not even his own father, the clan head.
But walking away right now gave him a chance to pass by you — and he’d gladly take it, as there was something he wanted to confirm.
“Did you let him touch you, little lamb? Answer me — did you?”, he stops right behind you and whispers from over your shoulder.
You wince, his breath on your neck sending shivers down your spine. Noticing that Satoru’s hand is moving slightly up and getting ready to possibly attack your brother, you gesture at him to stop. Mouthing a silent it’s fine.
“Don't but in in husband-wife matters, our sex life is off-limits for you, brother”, you mutter over your shoulder.
“Pfft”, his eyes squint knowingly at you. “Good — I don’t smell foreign residuals on you. Good, little lamb. Good.”
--
“So, you two, huh?”, Naobito, sitting cross-legged on the floor in the tatami room, takes a sip of his sake and wipes the droplets drizzling from the corners of his mouth.
It was barely noon, yet your father, as per usual, had already started his drinking for the day, most likely during the early hours of the morning at that.
You hum, but the man beside you, your husband, had something more to say.
“What can I do, old man — your daughter’s a beauty, I had to go and take her. Pardon my rudeness, I forgot to ask for your approval first” — to which you basically facepalm yourself.
“If you had done that first, you wouldn’t be sitting here now, you arrogant brat”, Naobito drags out, the alcohol must be getting to him. “But the damage is done already, what can I say”, he adds through a hiccup.
“—or do, against me — Right, old man?”, Satoru shoots a proud grin, then on a more serious tone, he continues — “She’s mine now. And I don’t quite fancy it when people pry on what belongs to me. So, I ask of you to act accordingly from now on, or there will be consequences”
“You ask? Yet this sounds more like a threat to me”
“It could be, depends on you”
Silence.
The air in the room is intense and heavy after these exchanges. There’s a calm smile on both of your father’s and husband’s faces, yet the glare in their eyes is as cold as absolute zero.
“With that being said, glad we’re on the same page and thank you for the half-assed belated blessing~ I will take care of her from now on, don’t you worry”, your husband nonchalantly breaks the silence, then looks at you with a quick shake of his head towards the door. Meaning, our job here is done. Let’s go.
“You might go, I wish to speak to my daughter, alone”
Satoru glances at you, looking for consent in your eyes. You nod affirmatively, “Wait for me in the car”
Before walking out, Satoru gives one last warning. “Old man, if you try anything funny, I’ll make this place one with the ground beneath you”
--
“Make this place one with the ground?”, Naobito laughs uproariously. “You’ve gotten under his skin. Good.”
He gulps down another cup before proceeding, “He’s always got a soft spot for you. I’ve seen his eyes wander in search of you during clans’ gatherings, but this — this is beyond my expectations even”, he wheezes. “Good job. You’re finally doing something right and being useful to the clan”
“I’m not doing this for you. I’m doing this for my own sake”, you grit your teeth.
“I don’t care for your purpose so long we sow the benefits of what you reap, just like I don’t care how you do it so long you take him down — poison him or slit his throat in his sleep, I couldn’t care less. Just make sure he’s dead by the end of it — it’s the only way to get that lousy freedom you’ve been babbling about all these years”
The terms were clear from the beginning, yet your stomach fills to the brim with guilt, threatening to spill out from your mouth the more your father speaks of it.
And he continues, “If you give him a child too in the meantime — even better. That way the Zenins can take over the Gojo Clan”, a greedy curve on his mouth wet with sake. “But in all honesty, what surprises me the most is you, actually — you’re more of a Zenin now than ever”, an unhinged laughter cracks his lips.
Your father’s words stab through your heart like a sharp knife. Snapping a few necks for the greater good for yourself, your freedom, shouldn’t be a problem after all you’ve been through.
But then, why does it feel like he is right? You are more of a Zenin now than ever. Why does it feel like the more you try to run away from the Zenins, the more you become one?
And why does your heart ache so much for the man you are to kill soon?

The 100% Good Twine SugarCube Guide!
The 100% Good Twine SugarCube Guide is a coding guide for the SugarCube format of Twine. It is meant as an alternative to the SugarCube documentation, with further explanations, interactive examples, and organised by difficulty. The goal of this guide is to make the learning curve for new SugarCube user less steep, and provide a comprehensive and wide look over the format.
VIEW / DOWNLOAD THE GUIDE!!!!
The Guide is compartmentalised in (currently) four categories:
THE BASICS or the absolute basics to start with SugarCube. No need for extra knowledge. Just the base needed to make something.
THE BASICS + adding interactivity, and creating a fully rounded IF game May require a bit of CSS knowledge (formatting rules)
INTERMEDIATE MODE adding more customisation and complex code Will probably require some CSS knowledge, and maybe some JavaScript
ADVANCE USE the most complex macros and APIs Will surely require some JavaScript/jQuery knowledge
Note: The Advanced Use includes all the APIs, macros, and methods not covered by the previous categories. This includes code requiring very advance knowledge of JavaScript/jQuery to be used properly.
Each category explains many aspects of the format, tailored to a specific level of the user. More simpler explanations and examples are available in earlier chapters, compared to the later ones.
If something is unclear, you found a mistake, you would like more examples in the guide, or would like a feature covered, let me know!
The Guide currently covers all macros (as of SugarCube v.2.37.3), all functions and methods, and APIs. It touches upon the use of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery, when relevant. It also discusses aspects of accessibility.
The Guides also provides a list of further resources, for the different coding languages.
The Guide is available in a downloadable form for offline view:
HTML file that can be opened in Twine
.tw file that can be opened in Twine
source code, separating the chapters, .js and .css files

Determination (Platonic)
Part 1 Part 3 Shanks beast pirates
Tagged: @peachsuka28 @emptynessinmyworld @badluckinfrench @j-s-l-m @tigerfang-rage @madokamagicaa @rymtea
Please give some suggestions of others y/n has met on their journey in the comments. I wanna see who else people want them to befriend/meet
I plan to later on do an entire thing for marineford. Be prepared for that and more stuff about y/n’s devil fruit
Once again this is non linear. Partially cause it’s easier that way and cause y/n has lived so long that their memories are kinda jumbled/they don’t really perceive time anymore (I kinda focused on that in this)

At some point in your eternal journey you began to write down your adventures into a small notebook
It’s leather bound with bright lettering on the front
A custom clasp in the shape of a star to keep the soft yellowed pages tight together
Sometimes you read it when out at sea with nothing to do but letting the wind guide your way to place of new and old
Before tucking it away into the pocket of Roger’s coat
Old ink of a dark navy blue stands out on the paper
Stark against the light yellow
With your feet dipped in the salty water of the place you called paradise you pull it out once more
Content in relaying over memories and people you’d once met
Let’s see who we have in store for today
Sengoku
Waking up on Marineford of all places after dying was certainly not on your list of islands you wanted to visit
An island dyed white and blue with golden accents sprinkled throughout the crowds of marines that walk through the area
The headquarters sat at the very top, loud and proud on the crescent moon shaped island
Honestly you very much contemplated just jumping into the sea to end up somewhere else
But as you stood at the very edge of the bay , leaning a bit forwards as the sapphire blue waves crash against the old stone walls
A hand grasps your shoulder
Turning around your met with the sight of a marine you had vaguely remembered Garp talking about
Sengoku, the Buddha
Your eyes trail upwards past his face to the pelican sat atop his marine hat
It stares down at you as does the marine who looks at you with concern
Especially since he sees no fear in your eyes along with contemplation
You had seriously thought about jumping into the sea all Willy nilly
It wasn’t even accounting the fact you may have a devil fruit
He quite literally drags you into the base, you don’t really complain since he gives you crackers
Similar ones to Garps favourites though a different brand
He sits you down, trying to get as much information out of you
It…isn’t successful
Your just chilling in his office, eating, looking around and giving the vaguest answers ever
Like he asks you about the island your from and you respond “a summer island a long ways from here. A place where fruit is plentiful and the corrupt hands of society do not touch” or some shit
He’s too stressed to deal with that type of shit so he doesn’t push further
Garp has been in his ass as of late along with the fact he’s worried about Rosinante
So his solution is to for now allow you to work as a delivery person for letters and documents
You actually quite enjoy it
Meanwhile this poor man is stressing over the fact that there is seemingly zero leads to any parents?
He’s just gotten somewhat unclear reports about a child on a raft drifting from island to island
Someone who reportedly has a track record of befriending the most unlikely of people
His migraines are getting worse at this point
You come to like the somewhat stern marine, oftentimes talking to him once done delivering letters and such around base
Most conversations are on ethics, morality and life
It’s odd but the way you talk about it seems as if your a weathered person who had seen more than the eye can see
Something in him leads him to feel as if your older than you looked
And then you somehow end up doing the most child-like thing and that feeling momentarily goes away
It’s weird and conflicting
But something he comes to get used to
In a lot of ways you remind him of his adoptive son
You have his smile and kindness that you extend to others even if they had sneered at you in the halls
The energy to complete a job no matter how big or small
A pension for somehow ending up in some sort of danger, though now it’s not from having two left feet
It’s from a lack of spacial awareness and not having any care for your safety
You’d think after such a long time seemingly on your own there would be some sort of fight or flight instinct
But from what he could observe there was absolutely none
It leaves him scared
He grew to care for you
See you as someone he’d take in within a heartbeat
But despite that and the offers he gives you of a home with fresh meals and someone who would care for you
You decline every time
Your tired from going to place to place yet you decline all offers of a stable life
A child should want some sort of stability, yet you throw that to the wind
He supposes that your burning determination and self sufficiency are good factors but a child your age shouldn’t have that
You should be carefree and going on a whim
But instead as he looks in your eyes he sees the tired visage of someone who had long lost their innocence to the world despite the laid back nature you show
It’s sad, it leaves him sometimes awake wondering what exactly you had been through
Maybe it was marines, it would explain your apprehension at first around him
Hair standing on end despite the lax facade you put up
Eyes looking at him with caution like a frightened and cornered cat. Calculating how to best go about the situation
The way in which you discuss with him about justice and what it meant
He digs more and finds scraps of nothing
Meanwhile as all that happened you were blissfully unaware of his spiral of worries
Just focusing on your job as you memorized the headquarters and marine procedures
You had nothing else to do plus it could come in handy
Along with that you befriend some of the few decent marines
One of which you spend quite a lot of time with despite Sengoku complaining about the smoke smell that hangs off your uniform…and the second hand smoking risk
Not like it can kill you quick so you don’t really care
You listen in on a lot of juicy marine rumours
There is quite a surprising amount of it
Despite your comfortable happiness here it’s merely an afterthought
You know you can’t stay here long
It feels as if it betrays Roger and the many other pirates you had found yourself in the company of
You desire freedom and marines are in direct opposition of that
But with this experience you find growth in your views
Marines weren’t all bad. They served the purpose of keeping order, something naturally needed in the world
But they are overstepping, wanting entire control when there needs to be a balance of both order and chaos to keep things in line
Plus you met a few that you’d otherwise consider good people in a system they thought would do good
You can’t fault them for that, not when so many sought out with good intentions
Secretly you prepare your leave, your boat already having washed up in the bay a few week back
Your not sure why but it always seemed to show up where you were
Maybe another aspect of your devil fruit? You don’t know it’s full capabilities but don’t question it
You’d rather let life do what it does best and put things in order if the stars align
At this point your prepared to leave but hold out for a bit longer for Sengoku’s sake
But then you delivered to him a letter whilst he was having a meeting with a fellow marine
Even before you enter the room you can recognize Garp’s boisterous laughter
Despite his now more apparent age from time he’s still eccentric and buzzing with excitement
As you enter the room you keep your head down and caps brim tilted as to shadow your face
Sengoku notices this but doesn’t voice it aloud as Garp laughs about something
He barely gets a image of you before your out the office
Heading to the small room designated as your own as you write a letter saying goodbye
You can’t stay, can’t risk it
Sengoku arrives a couple hours later completely exhausted from Garps usual rambling
He’s not sure how someone can go from business to about his grandsons
He has your dinner in hand, apparently you never showed up at the mess hall
His voice and knocks are responded with silence
Worry gnaws away at him, the feeling of something being wrong apparent more than ever
the door creaks open and your not there
What he’s met with is an open window with sheets cascading down the wall and a note
He runs to the pier despite knowing your not there
It’s there he takes time to actually read the note
A thank you but an explanation about how you must leave. Head off towards yet another adventure in the grand world you called home
Tears cascade down his cheeks as he reads it
They do not get better when it tells him that you would always remember his kindness
And that he taught you something valuable to viewing the world
Heading back to his office he thinks back to his son once more
Something finally coming to mind
He swears he remembers Rosinante mentioning someone similar to you as a childhood friend
The only person him and his brother had as children
He shoo’s off that thought though
They were dead
His son watched that firsthand
But because of that he knows that Rosinante would want to know of you
He takes the picture he took of you in the delivery uniform and placed it in a letter
He’d have his son look into perhaps finding you
Or at least extending a helping hand if he hand found you adrift at sea
He’d stash away the reminders of your stay lest he get an earful from Garp
Speaking of which, the idiot hero of the people seemed more alert for some reason. Just saying he was on the look out for an old friend…odd
Kid pirates
They find your ship as your drifting at sea
You were fishing at the time, passing the time plus trying to get some potential food
And then you see this giant ship pull up near yours
Your not really scared though a bit surprised cause you recognized that Jolly Roger
You’d heard a lot about this crew, but you didn’t know who was the captain
Seems like your question will be answered
Staring down from the side of the ship is someone with fiery red hot hair and someone wearing a mask with an equally wild mane of golden locks
For some reason though the red head looks familiar
Extremely…ohhhh you knew him
Oh shit you knew him when he was a kid
And now he’s grown up (you’d hadn’t even realized it’s been that long) and your still as young as you were back then
With no possible explanation to write you off as a different person
Shit-
Before you can do anything your lifted out from your ship via a metal bracelet on your arm made of wire and screw
Curtesy of Kid all those years ago who stares at you with a mixture of confusion, shock and anger
His crew is watching with batted breath wondering what he’ll do
“I’m guessing you want an explanation”
“No shit”
“Captain let’s take this someplace private”
With that the two take you to his workshop, a place similar to the one he had growing up
Yet it’s now not just a shack
Around the room there’s metal scraps and almost completed projects scattered around
It smells of iron, rust, determination, stubbornness and oil
All of which you’d come to associate with the red haired captain you now sit across from
And of killer who you now recognized despite the mask
You don’t have much of a choice to tell the truth
Especially since you know for a fact both would be able to tell if your lying
Kid is angry, perhaps not at you but for the circumstances of your life
It’s no wonder that even as children you were a bit odd
Staring off into space as you’d say some weird cryptic shit
But it also explains the sadness as well
The few times he caught you silently mourning something or someone in the dead of night
His anger fades though and becomes something else when you mention you didn’t know the years had flown by and he was grown up now
It scares him
You hadn’t realized the large passage of time from when you left that one night to now
When you admit that your even a bit shaken and confused but shrug it off
That really fucking terrified him especially when you begin to recount some of what you’d done in that time
For so long he and Killer assumed you died but perhaps you had something worse than that
You’d lived through so much
Through bloodshed and war
Through loss and grief
Countless deaths of not only the people you’d formed a connection with but yourself
Pain was now a meer concept to you
He sees how strong you are (and he heavily respects that) but at the same time how close you are to the breaking point
When Kid cares for someone it’s akin to molten steel
It’s burning brightly and protectively forming a hard barrier towards it and danger
There are a few people he’d ever stick his neck out for to protect (that being his crew and Killer)
And one of them is you, the only other person in his childhood that ever stood through thick and thin with him
By god will he ever admit it through words but with actions
And his actions are subtle as hell to those who don’t know him
On deck as his crew are rowdy he makes sure to keep out and eye for you, especially considering how your prime bumping into material for being so short
Luckily for him though your usually on someone’s shoulders or being playfully tossed around
Despite how clashing the rest of the crew’s personalities are from your own you fit in. Your calmness allowing you to go with the flow of their escapades
It’s not really surprising to him, but there are a few of the crew who comment about it
There were a lot of ways to describe you but he thought the best was the eye of the storm
A peace and calm within the swirling winds of danger and chaos
Bringing a calm breeze and momentary warmth
It’s easy for him to notice but his men are more content
Happy as you indulge in games with them or give a break from the hecticality of life at sea
This is of course all good and nice but Kid is somewhat huffy when you spend too much time with them
When this happens killer usually gives you a signal so you go spend time before kid ends up destroying something
One of his favourite pastimes with you is having you help with his tinkering
Sitting in a small chair made of metal and scrap as he works diligently
During these times he doesn’t talk, just listens as you tell stories or stay silent with him
It’s therapeutic in some way
Especially since the only background noise is the clanking of metal
Sometimes you ask about his devil fruit power and he shows off
Making you oh and ah about the versatility of what he can do
It makes something in him swell with pride especially since you look at him with awe
Just as he did as a kid when you told stories of pirates
During the late nights in which his crew are asleep you both talk
He digs deeper into your stories and gets madder and madder when more and more of your life is exposed
Most of your responses when hearing the truth is pity but his is anger
A weird but validating reaction that makes your long died out anger ignite a little
He lets you punch, scratch and scream to let it all out. Encouraging you to do so
Sometimes you swear you can see a brightly shining star in him. His determination for something that burns like a furnace used to heat up metal to bend to his whim
Killer is much like kid in the fact that he’s worried about and cares but he goes about it a much different way
He’s the only voice of reason on this ship
And he’s honestly glad to have someone else who’s level headed
As much as he loves his captain and crew it can kinda get annoying sometimes when he’s the only responsible person
Your at least not jumping to set the ship on fire every 3 minutes unlike some people
Hearing your situation now makes a lot of sense when thinking back to when he and Kid where young
There were a lot of inconsistencies and things that didn’t make sense
But now they do on the fact you were a seemingly immortal traveler
It makes him upset like Kid though
Your situation wasn’t fair
Your life wasn’t the dream your once made it out to be
Sure there are moments of happiness dispersed through the cold harsh waters but it took you dying in horrible ways to get there
You didn’t see that but you felt it’s affects
The occasional times he’d have you help cooking and then you’d blank out
Be stuck in your mind till he snaps you out of it and you explained how you were once eaten
It’s terrifyingly eye opening to how the world treats someone like you
A kind and calm soul who only wants freedom amongst the waves
Yet though they are sometimes treated with kindness there is also cruelty
Like Kid it leaves him angry
Upset on how you let yourself be treated in such a way along with brushing it off
Not only that but it’s also concerning
How you endure the worst things he could imagine yet it seems to be an afterthought
Until he finds you in the middle of the night staring out at the darkness with a certain look in your eye
There’s not much he nor Kid can do but he promises himself he’d try
Try for your sake to actually value yourself
Killer on the ship is the cook amung other duties as well, but cooking is his favourite
He has you help out as a second pair of hands
To be honest he doesn’t trust anyone else on the ship to cook without accidentally (or purposefully) poisoning someone so he usually does it alone
It’s the only time of peace on this madhouse that he calls of home
And it’s nice he gets to share it with someone
He assigns small tasks for you to do on the account your still a kid (despite how much you protest and say your literally older than him)
Cutting vegetables, grabbing ingredients, taste testing and stirring are your main priorities
But occasionally he has you help with other things as long as he can keep a close eye on you
He knows for a fact if you hurt yourself you wouldn’t tell him and brush it off
And by god he doesn’t need you to die of something stupid just cause you didn’t care to tell him
Unlike Kid he’s not afraid to verbally give affection
It’s just in private moments that he prefers it
Soft thank you’s and moments in which he admits he had missed having you around
The logical side of him knows he and Kid can’t convince you to stay but the emotional side tries anyways
Showing you how happy you could be if you stayed here
How the crew saw you as their own
How much safer you’d be rather than just drifting from place to place
It’s a loosing battle but one he tries anyways cause he cares
And he knows Kid cares despite the fact he tries to deny it
Cause Killer knows Kid
Seen how the red haired captain had been more motivated as of late
How much happier he is
The fact that when you bring up leaving the red haired captain locks himself in his workshop for the night to try and distract himself
He wishes you’d see how much you affected people, affected them
Cause despite what you thought of yourself your able to do the impossible
You leave a real impact on those you’d met even if it was for a short time
The crew sometimes pester him for answers on how he and Kid already knew you but he doesn’t budge
That’s a private matter that only you could disclose if you so wanted to
But for now he just says you were friends beforehand which gets some confusion
Speaking of the crew, he watches as you interact with them
Quickly somehow worming your way into their hearts as you did his
Watches as you play poker and they teach you how to cheat at the game or sing shanties while they drink
He may or may not have gave a few a good knock on the head for letting you take a few sips
(Kid hides the fact he gave you some as well)
He carry’s you off to bed and sneaks you some sweats he snagged at a port
Even allows you to brush and braid his hair in private
Kid once walked in and laughed his ass off about killer going soft
And then the two had a playful fight
Meanwhile you sat there laughing
It was like old times
As always you eventually leave but not before the crew throws a large party in your honour (and partially to drink the feelings away)
Before you set off again kid gifts you a bracelet made by him and a small piece of paper
To always find them if you needed their help
You smile and set off, not knowing how the crew stares with ignorant hope you’d turn around
Crocodile
Your not sure how but somehow you ended up in a desert with absolutely no idea of what island this was
Naturally you decided to lay in the sand and wait to die so you’d wake up somewhere else
But a few hours into that a shadow obscures the harsh sun that had been glaring at you for hours
A man, black slicked hair and elegant clothes with a golden hook for a hand
Beside him is another man, what you assumed to be a bodyguard of sorts
“Hi what desert is this?. I’d like to know where exactly I am before I die”
Yeah they definitely didn’t expect that for an answer
But with what you said you seemed to intrigue the hooked man
“Alabasta. What are you doing out here in the first place alone kid?”
“Woke up here. Was waiting to die”
Admittedly crocodile was just gonna save you as to make his imagine of being the hero of this country even better but now you’ve really got him interested
Even Daz was somewhat surprised and intrigued by your comment and lax attitude towards death (even your own)
So as he takes you back to the city, taking in the fame that came with it, he decides to “look after you” until your parents come to claim you
As any kind Samaritan would do
Your calling bullshit on that but amuse his words anyways
At his casino he talks to you as he does paperwork and take mysterious calls you leave the room for
While your curious you respect his privacy which he seems to appreciate
Crocodile is a peculiar man
Someone of specific interests and a golden viper-like tongue that leads to fools eating out the palm of his hand
You can see that though, quite easily actually
Eyes looking past the hand he holds out to the hook he hides behind his back and goons just behind the corner
He honestly applauds that you see it
In his words your “a smart kid.” Which you assume is something he doesn’t say often
Much like an oasis in the scathing sands of the desert
Your conversations with him are much more personable rather than focusing on his clearly defined goals and plans
That isn’t your business to divulge in, but his character is up to your judgment
He’s obviously not a good person but half of the people you’d called friends were criminals and killers alike
Sure some had morals but there’s still a stated fact that they had taken lives in pursuit of their goals
Roger included
You’d be a hypocrite to think otherwise
Talks often involve subjects of death and the goal of freedom
And what freedom meant in this world that was quickly having it taken away
Crocodile is tinged by death much like the lingering smell of his cigars
It follows him like a plague, like sand stuck to your clothes after getting wet
Yet despite that it’s a clearly interesting topic to him especially since you disregard your own safety
He’d seen it in the desert and at his casino where you nearly got shot by an angry patron
You don’t care about your own death
But when it comes to others it’s a different story
It’s interesting to him
Why were you so selfless in the fact you’d carelessly throw your life away for someone else’s
In this world it’s one only won by the selfish
He’s a prime example of that
At his core he knows he’s selfish, his goal is an example of that fact
Yet despite how foolish it is to not be selfish…with you it’s admirable
You don’t have some sunny and innocent view on the matter. You know it’s a loosing game yet you pursue it anyways
Perhaps it’s more foolish in that way but you don’t care
Not when you have the freedom to choose and make those choices anyways
Freedom matters to you more than words can describe and he relates
It is freedom that let him make the course of his own destiny
Changing who he once was to the person he is now
Now comfortable in his own skin and confident in his abilities and identity
Perhaps it’s cause you had your freedom taken away at some point but you relate in some way
Not having the choice in a matter and suffering due to it
He doesn’t go into full detail on the matter but you have a knowing look in your eye and a semblance of deep respect because of it
It makes a part of him feel light and airy
Despite all the clearly scummy aspects of himself that are as clear as day to your eyes….you respect him
Some still deeply insecure part of him curls up at that and wants to cry
You respected him
That’s something he’d always wanted
It’s not motivated by fear and greed but true respect for the hardships he’d been through to get here
Worry curls up in his gut, swirling and violent like the sands storms he creates
Shit, he’s attached
What’s worse is that you’d wormed your way into the others hearts as well
Even Daz has to admit you grew on him
Your a lot like a cancerous sore. Growing and spreading to a new part of the body
Yet he can’t will himself to cut you off
And neither does his inner circle
It complicates things but at this point he accepts it after a brief moment of reflection and thought
He hadn’t thought of trying to find your parents and had the posters taken down
Now fully intending to keep you as his own
He doesn’t ask you on the matter, just slowly begins the process
Decorating your room to your preference
….which was very hard considering you didn’t have one and settled for the bare minimum most of the time
Yeah it’s a bit of a challenge especially since your beginning to catch on real quick
It’s kinda easy to tell when someone goes from “I’m keeping you around for entertainment” to “I’m keeping you around as my kid now”
While you appreciate the offer and effort you don’t particularly like your freedom being impeded upon
“You know that’s hypocritical right?”
“Yes but when have pirates ever been people of their word?”
“Touché…but I’m still not happy about this”
As this happens he begins to dig deeper to who you are
Intent on figuring out if you had parents and if he could perhaps…get “custody” to put it broadly
But that becomes a challenge when there’s seemingly nothing about you except for vague whispers across the sea
A legend
A story
A song
It’s old, going back to the days of Roger and references to before that as well
A tale of a star that never really died
It’s forgotten to many but to a few it still lives on
And he has the vaguest idea from the description in the song that it’s you
But for awhile it’s a mere speculation
Until you end up dying in front of him from a deal gone wrong
Despite the fact you knew the bullet would pass through his body you instinctually throw yourself in front of him
The bullet piercing your chest
A deafening silence filling the moment between him and his inner circle of baroque works
And then chaos
Their swiftly dealt with, the perpetrator personally having their body liquids drained within mere moments
And then he’s at your side as Bentham does their best to stop the bleeding
Despite the fact your bleeding with a piece of led stuck in your chest your unfazed
Shrugging it off as “pain is a concept to me at this point”
It makes him angry, sad and determined all at the same time
Angry at the fact you must’ve experienced so much pain that something like this is nothing to you
Sadness that you’ve went through this before
And determination to stop it from happening again. To have the ability to protect you
“Let it be known that when you come back I’ll be looking for you”
“So you know?”
“Had some connections…found an old story but you just confirmed it”
You giggle lightly at that, not even wincing as you cough up some blood with your laughter
They all watch as your eyes fade of their light and then after that your body breaks into sparkling dust
Crocodile is a selfish man, one driven by ambition and greed
It’s funny you think he’d let go someone he considered to be a diamond in the rubble
One that shone as bright as a star in the sky
He extinguishes his cigar under his boot, grasping the small bits of starlight in his hand before it slips through his fingers like sand
He chuckles, how ironic
In the world populated by the greedy he intends to be king
And a king guards his treasure especially something that is as priceless as you are in this world
“Watch out kid. You’ve gotten me attached and there’s no undoing that now”
Boa Hancock
For a brief time you had spent a couple months or so as a celestial dragon’s slave
It was by complete accident that you were kidnapped and subsequently sold
But in that time you’d come to learn more of the politics of the world
Specifically the inequality of rules for nobles from the world government
You don’t spend much time as a slave but it’s torturous
Permanently scaring your mind with the pain of being branded as property
Seen as an object that can be broken
In your time there though you remember 3 girls
That time is a blur in your mind but you remember giving your limited food to them
The group being taken aback by the kindness as you explained you’d be fine
It went on like that for awhile
You never got their names but you gave them yours
They were sisters, the one with black hair being the oldest of the trio
It was a friendship made out of desperation
Of knowing that none of you were alone
The eldest of the group is one day forced to kill you for the pleasure of the sick bastard who had branded you all
She’s sobbing
He’ll kill her sisters if she doesn’t
You tell her it’s ok, that she must do what she can to survive and keep them alive
That death didn’t scare you
Her devil fruit turns you to stone within an instant but not from romantic love
It’s from the love of a friend
Of someone who’d cared for her and her sisters enough to give up your own for them
For her to keep them safe
The statue crumbles and she’s left sobbing
Gold floats from the grey dust that scatters around her
She thinks back to some of your last words
She had to be strong for her sisters
Make sure they get out of here lest your sacrifice be in vain
She’d be strong so she can protect
Just as you protected her and them from a violent fate
Even through the scar isn’t there anymore you scratch at your back
Remembering the pain of that seal
You can’t remember who the symbol belongs to anymore
Other than then being some type of royal
The cycle begins again
Smoker
You met him during your brief time at marineford
One of the only Marines whom you found to actually be good
Not just seeing things as simply black and white good and bad
Sure, he had a job to do and accomplish but he at least had a sense of morally grey justice
A well weighted scale so one side is not preferred over the other
It’s because of him that the smell of lingering smoke now leaves a sense of comfort to you
Admitting this to him makes the rather gruff man go completely red
Much like the lot end of those cigars that he loves so much
Despite how own duties he’d help you deliver things at the base
Having his smoke help carry letters across the island within minutes as to give you a small break
Speaking of which, he basically forces you to have mandatory breaks from work
Oftentimes literally dragging you off to go get something to eat
You have the feeling he has a soft spot for kids but vehemently denies that fact
(The way he buys you ice cream and lets you sit on his shoulder says otherwise but ok)
Another thing supports this fact is that he grows quite concerned at your complete disregard for your safety
The man has a panic attack every time you make an odd comment about “do you think I’d die from this height or shatter my legs” and “could you theoretically give people cancer or kill them via smoke blockage in the lungs?”
You can’t convince him that you had a happy childhood before this
Sengoku not being able to find your parents makes this thought worse
You didn’t know him for very long but you hope to one day run into home again
Charlotte LinLin
Somehow you ended up at an orphanage after someone found you asleep and adrift at sea
It most cases this would’ve been a blessing
To you it was an annoyance as they left you at a place for the abandoned and mourning
A reminder of where you might have ended up if you haven’t ate your fruit
Hadn’t taken the reigns of fate in your hands and steered it towards the endless blue sea
Immediately you want to leave the moment you can, especially since you get off vibes from “mother caramel”
That woman is up to something real bad
You can feel it deep in your bones
But you end up staying when you meet a peculiar girl
She’s young but not little, she towers over you like a giant
Puffy pink hair kept in two buns and freckles cheeks paired with a large toothy smile
She’s an interesting character, so like always you end up staying
Her name is Linlin, someone with monstrous power yet is innocent to a frightening degree
She has a kind heart yet doesn’t realize her strength
Something you try to help her with
Linlin is ecstatic to have you as a friend especially since you don’t seem out off by her size
You stay by her side, more specifically on her shoulder and tell her stories that make her eyes widen in curiosity
Telling stories of other races, showing her that the other children who aren’t human aren’t needing to be fixed like she initially thought
Their all perfect
She’s still a little confused but she gets the gist of it
Another thing she doesn’t get is discrimination and thinks it’s stupid
She expresses a dream of a place where everyone can live in peace
It’s a beautiful dream but one that is far fetched, yet you can’t help but tell her to go for it
Because there’s no harm in trying
Mother Caramel seemingly assigns you as Linlin’s impulse control
Seemingly since your the only one who can actually make her listen when she’s blind from rage
As much as you don’t like the old woman, she’s got a point
Linlin is a hurricane if made angry and you’re the key into keeping it at peace
She seems to note that to herself for some greater reason
In the end you didn’t know Linlin for very long but she seemed to hold you in such a high regard she deemed you her “bestest friend!”
It’s nice
But like all things they come to and end
But surprisingly it’s by her own hand
At her 6th birthday everyone had come together to make her sweets knowing she loved anything sugary
She was in tears, grin so wide you thought it was big as the red line
She ate and ate
Until there was no cake left
But like in those blind rages she didn’t see
She didn’t see there was nothing left
Didn’t notice what she now began to eat was the rest of the children sitting nearby
Mother caramel
And finally you
Eventually she woke up, finding herself alone and confused
Glitter flowing up into the sky
Years later you hear about some island meant to be a utopia for all people
It reminds you of that little pink haired girl
But that can’t be, you heard the pirate behind it was a maniac
That couldn’t be the innocent girl you met and became friends with
…how did you die that time again?
All the deaths have merged together or you can’t remember which death went where
For all you know the one where you got eaten was that one
But that can’t be
From what you remember Linlin was kind if not naive
She couldn’t
Wouldn’t
The cycle begins again
Katakuri
For awhile you stayed at an island that specialized in baked goods
And that served as a calling for the famous pirate known as “big mom” and her children
The island was not yet under their…”protection” but was being negotiated with as of when you visited
And on that island you found yourself at a bakery buying sweets to your hearts content
Specifically donuts
The one where we’re apparently particularly good
And honestly it’s been awhile since you’d treated yourself to a good meal
Soooo you splurged a bit and bought them all
And that leads to an odd meeting when you run into the giant of a man with a pink tattoo and fur lined scarf covering the bottom half of his face
The chefs cower as they tell him that their all out of the sweet treat
Despite the evident frown he doesn’t look as if he’s about to trash the place like the chefs are making it seem
He simply seems disappointed and a bit sour
Despite how everyone is clearly afraid of him you poke his arm making him look at you
“We can share if you’d like. I don’t mind”
From the mortified looks of everyone in the room it’s evident everyone is half expecting him to flat out obliterate you on the spot
But much to their surprise he seem to think it over
“If you see me eating I’ll kill you”
“Aight, that’s fine with me. We can eat back to back, then I won’t see you”
The bakery is left silent as you leave with the pirate
They prey your alright
Just as your promised you eat back to back. He creates a small house of mochi as you put down the donut box and you both eat
It’s peaceful and nice
He half expects for you to turn around but you don’t
You don’t even seem to consider it as you happily eat and engage in small conversations
It’s odd being asked such mundane things like “how was your day?” And “what do you do for a living?”
Let alone by someone who isn’t currently shaking in fear
….it’s nice
You let him have the last donut much to his surprise
He enjoyed this much more than he thought he would
So he comes up with an ultimatum
“I’ll be too busy to buy them before they sell out…would you be willing to buy them and then we do what we did today?”
“Sounds fun to me.”
He leaves with a warm feeling in his chest
Not even his siblings treated him in such a relaxed manner…it was refreshing
The next day ticks by and he finds himself awaiting for the meeting to be over
He stops himself from tapping his foot but his irritation occasionally seeps out
It goes to help speed up conversation though and then he’s free
Like the day prior you both meet at the same place
He insists on paying you back but you refuse
It’s confusing but he doesn’t make a comment about it
In the grande scheme if things this is such a small thing but it begins to mean the world to him
He’s only intended to stay here for a week yet he dreads that final day
So much so that he finishes business early
When you go to the shop you find that their already sold out much to your displeasure
You go to tell the sweet toothed man you befriended and find him already with the confectionery
You eat back to back once more for the last time
Enjoying the donuts that bring him momentary relaxation and relief from the pressure to be the prefect son
The perfect big brother
It’s nice
And for once he feels as if he was his true self around someone
You hear him cry but don’t turn around out of respect for him
Instead you just offer him more food and gently pat his arm
A small “thank you” falls from his mouth and you smile
You thank him in return for the pleasant company
He wonders if this is what is mother experienced when having her “bestest friend” all those years ago
The one story that him and all his siblings had heard growing up
About someone much like yourself
He leaves the island with a smile beneath his scarf and a noticeable better mood
His siblings ponder about what happened but he doesn’t speak a work of it
This was a treasure he’d like to keep to himself
For some reason his mother has a knowing look
Btw wanted to thank you all for liking this so far. I was honestly kinda scared to actually post for one piece but I’m glad people are enjoying my content for it. I recently got into the show and wanted to write about it cause I love it so much.

Some Albedo Fics
So thrilled that Albedo is back in the story! Just the way I like him (and write him) too: mysterious, subtly inhuman, even a tad menacing - until you learn more. Here are the three very different Albedo fics I've written.
Sand and Chalk, Root and Stalk
The chalk prince and the forest watcher brave the scorching deserts of Sumeru, debate what it means to be alive, and up their publication count in the process.
Albedo/Tighnari, academic feuds, in-universe documents, non-linear narrative
Fun fact: the flowers in this are from an actual world quest, but I suspect that almost no one reading the fic has played this quest! The paper abstracts are based on my own academic paper-writing experience.
Of Promises Unkept the Night Flowers Speak
Set during the Irodori Festival. Kazuha models. Albedo paints, and observes more than he should.
Albedo/Kazuha, bondage, introspection, NSFW
Fun fact: in an early event, Albedo canonically paints Kazuha tied up and displays it for all of Inazuma to see. So... you can see why this fic had to be written, right?
Alchemy Is Full of Secrets (and Alchemists Are Too)
As a captain of the Knights of Favonius, Kaeya takes his responsibilities quite seriously. When one of the junior alchemists appears troubled, Kaeya takes an interest… and a suspicion.
Albedo & Kaeya, aka Kaeya is protective of Sucrose (and Albedo is too)
Fun fact: all right, since I'm already over-explaining the other two, let me also mention that the thing about Albedo eating spiders is in fact canon...

Hello I worship at the altar of you and your beautiful wrinkly brain 🙂↕️ I have been very curious about one Yang JEONGIN and evolving/ascending abnormals.
1) is it like vampire puberty? Do they go through wild hormonal rages?
2) does he know what’s happening to him?
3) how???
I await your response with bated breath 😌
Xoxo, 🐉
my pretty dragon~ welcome to the blood roster, 🐉. you now have unrestricted lab access. this one’s not just lore. this is virology with fangs.

🧬 THE EVOLUTION OF JEONGIN
A Study in Mutation, Awakening, and Biological Betrayal
First: no. There’s no such thing as vampire puberty. No hormonal surges. No emotional teenager tantrums with fangs. That’s human projection.
What does happen? Is mutation. Spontaneous. Violent. Permanent.
WHAT THE FUCK IS AN ABNORMAL?
Ask any vampire scholar and they’ll give you three words:
“Gods made wrong.”
Abnormals aren’t turned. They aren’t infected. They aren’t created through magic or ritual. They are born — but they are not born right.
🩸 THE LEADING THEORY: GENETIC MUTATION
Vampire scientists call it the X-𝜃 gene — unofficially known as the Abnormality Mutation. It is not inherited in a classic Mendelian pattern. It breaks genetic logic. And it defies magical bloodline predictions.
The first recorded Abnormal? Born to two normal vampires. No family history. No known spell damage. But from birth: accelerated development, uncontrolled bloodlust, and an aura that melted wards on contact. Doctors tried magical suppression. Witches attempted blood-stabilization rituals. Nothing worked.
They could not suppress what never obeyed laws to begin with.
🔬 CURRENT WORKING MODEL: A RARE, SPONTANEOUS MUTATION
The X-𝜃 gene appears to:
Override standard vampire regulatory genes (e.g. those controlling bloodlust thresholds, regenerative speed, magical dampening)
Create non-linear power responses (i.e. feedback loops, surges, uncontrolled magic under stress)
Disrupt circadian/sunlight sensitivity genes entirely
Stimulate non-traditional energy pathways (Abnormals can metabolize emotional input: fear, lust, devotion)
The problem? There’s no single genetic pattern. It doesn’t run cleanly in families. It skips generations, reappears randomly, sometimes even activates mid-life (see: Jeongin).
🩸 ADDITIONAL HYPOTHESES:
✦ 1. Magical Environmental Trigger
Some believe the mutation is not fully genetic — that it lies dormant and is triggered by exposure to certain ancient magics, trauma, or spiritual fractures. This would explain:
Delayed awakenings (like Jeongin at 18)
Abnormals emerging from formerly Normal bloodlines
✦ 2. The “Reversion Theory”
Proposed by a rogue scholar. He states that Abnormals are not new — but a reversion to the original vampire species, pre-civilization. Before rules. Before enchantments. The “gods made wrong” weren’t wrong — they were just too real.
“Abnormals are the truth of vampirism, buried under generations of domestication.”
Most vampires refuse to acknowledge this theory due to its existential implications.
✦ 3. The Anti-Evolution Hypothesis
Some researchers believe the Abnormal mutation is a flawed evolutionary hiccup — one that grants immense power but guarantees instability. Like giving a child a loaded weapon: Powerful, yes — but self-destructive unless anchored by extreme regulation.
This is why Chan, despite being born Abnormal, still works tirelessly through Nocte Labs to decode it. He’s not trying to erase it. He’s trying to survive it.
“Just because I was born this way doesn’t mean I understand it. It’s still eating us alive.” — Chan, confidential Nocte memo
⚠️ WHY IT MATTERS FOR JEONGIN
Jeongin is an active subject in Chan’s ongoing mutation studies. Because he is the only documented case of a Normal born vampire:
From two Normal parents
Who began Awakening into Abnormality in early adulthood
And is approaching his biological lock age of 25
This makes Jeongin a biological anomaly inside an anomaly. And the moment he turns 25 — his cellular structure will “freeze,” locking in whatever he has become. Chan suspects he will fully Ascend.
But no one knows what a late bloomer Abnormal truly looks like after the lock. There are no records. There are no survivors.
🔎 JEONGIN: CASE STUDY
Born Normal. Normal parents. Normal bloodline. Nothing immediately strange. But when Jeongin turned 18, his body stopped obeying Normal limits.
Symptoms began:
Walking in sunlight without enchanted protection (should have burned — didn’t).
Uncontrolled sensory spikes. Could smell a lie across the room.
Pulse acceleration under moonlight.
Strength fluctuations. Once bent metal by accident.
Chan, having seen Abnormals before (and being one himself), noticed. And he’s been monitoring Jeongin ever since.
❓ WHAT IS HE NOW?
Jeongin is what vampire scientists call an Awakening Abnormal. A transitional state where the mutation is active, but not dominant.
He still has:
Some Normal weaknesses (e.g., minor sun fatigue after long exposure)
Normal magic stability
Emotional bond sensitivity
But increasingly, he also shows:
Feral reflexes under threat
Blood scent tracking
No need for glamour spells
Momentary time-bending speed
Vein bloom when angered — hallmark Abnormal sign
🎂 VAMPIRE AGING : WHY IT MATTERS
Vampires “lock” in their physical age at 21 or 25, depending on bloodline strength.
Jeongin is currently 24. Once he hits 25, his biology will lock — and if the Abnormal trait dominates by then, it becomes permanent.
Chan believes this is inevitable.
WHEN HE ASCENDS…
Once the full mutation takes hold, Jeongin will:
No longer require blood as frequently (Abnormals metabolize it differently)
Lose all sunlight sensitivity
Be immune to holy relics and emotional glamours
Become capable of soul-affecting speed and strength
Risk Overload Feedback if not stabilized (i.e., seizures, bloodcry, internal rupture)
Chan is currently working with Nocte Labs to design a stabilization ritual — something to help Jeongin maintain control once he ascends.
Because once he’s fully Abnormal? He can no longer afford to just “feel things.” Rage. Desire. Panic. All become weapons.

malevolent s6 predictions & theories
also sorry if none of these make any sense, i can barely remember anything that happened 🥀💔
in season 6 arthur will fall (ofc)
arthur will meet someone from his past
season 6 will introduce flashbacks of arthur’s childhood
betrayal by a trusted ally maybe the person “the manager” was speaking to at the end of da capo or john
the dark world is actually a prison for something far worse: a cosmic entity that the outer gods fear
there will be a cryptic message hidden in the audio that us listeners can decode, but im highly doubting this
arthur might get a chance to “reset” everything but must choose between his own peace or saving others
season 6 experiments with non-linear storytelling, cutting between timelines or memories without warning
arthur finds physical letters or audio recordings from past versions of himself — clues left behind in failed timelines, an audio recording/letter which is arthur’s past self, warning him not to trust john
a faint clock motif or ticking sound is introduced, suggesting a countdown to something catastrophic, i highly doubt this as well
a mysterious character claims to have known arthur in a past life and knows how the story ends
a book or written journal is found that documents everything arthur’s done — before he’s done it
the season might end on a cliffhanger, with arthur staying into the dark world forever

LaDS Fanfic & Lore Resource
I am documenting all of the Love and Deepspace lore over on GitHub!
View the WIP project here (Project contains many untagged spoilers!!)
I'm using a free mapping program called Obsidian that's basically a red string board in app form. Everything!! is connected!! The lore is so detailed and it's been so satisfying to go through.
So far, I have the main story up through Long Awaited Revelry, plus all anecdotes and the Beyond Cloudfall myth. I wanted to go ahead and share even though it's WIP since I've already made so many interesting connections.
For example, the format is still a bit rough but this Main Story Timeline gives an approx month/year for every event in the main story. Based on multiple sources, the main story almost certainly starts in July 2048!
More info below
GitHub/Obsidian are easy to set up if you have a basic coding background, but I know it's not the most accessible. If there's enough interest, I'll consider paying to host it through Obsidian so it's more of a normal web page, it's not too expensive! You can still click around and read the project in GitHub, but the document links won't work.
If you maintain a wiki, please feel free to use anything from this project! Mainly why I didn't contribute to a wiki is I wanted to add a lot of commentary along the way, as well as only really tracking what's important for fanfic/lore theories. Take any commentary with a grain of salt, as I'm consistently updating it as I bring new pieces in.
Since the storytelling of the game is pretty non-linear, my hope is also that the summaries of the main story and anecdotes help folks more easily understand the story. The game likes to be mysterious at first, but it often becomes quite clear once all the pieces are revealed.
One of my favorite things about the lore is that it follows romance conventions more than sci-fi conventions, so "because love" is the reason behind a lot of canon decisions 🥹 But there's still a lot of sci-fi to enjoy!
Anyway, I hope you'll forgive me for the WIP and I hope this reaches the other folks who are as obsessive about the lore as I am!

Operation Adonis - National Guard; Discovery of Sub-Optimal Dosages of NG-AD0372, 1550-1900mg in Middle Weight Class

With the biotechnicians orienting more directly towards pushing the aforementioned envelope (since they already knew what could be done with standard, careful dosages), they came to some swift discoveries as they continued to up the ante with the size of the men they were starting with and the size of the dosage they injected.
What they found to be incredibly interesting is that, as the overall increase continued, the resulting adonis was met with a deeper and deeper brain fog, the only thing they're able to express being desperation and a sense of longing, like they needed something incredibly badly but couldn't figure out what it was. However, as soon as they started being contained, the touches of their former peers would ignite the sensations, causing profuse sweating, pulling on the chains, and some non-verbal vocalizations.
The men in the barracks became very proficient in swift cuffing.
The biotechnicians were met with a pang of hesitation as these experiments continued and they saw the very linear path ahead for the future experimented-on men, but the money and the results they themselves were seeing with controlled and modified sampling were just too appealing. Around this time, the biotechnicians would infrequently head to these contained men during their cooldown periods and sample some of their seed, which itself had a modified concentration of NG-AD0372. In tandem with controlled doses, this allowed for developing ample mass without the brain fog and uncontrollable inclinations.
The testing on larger subjects will be presented in a final documentation report.

Your amazing work here has inspired me to want to try doing a script project for DQB2 and I was wondering if you had any advice for me?
I'm gonna assume that's some sorta dragon quest game?
Well, ISAT really is a blessing in this regard, because the game is not encrypted at all. Accessing files and all text via rpgmaker MV and VSC is incredibly easy.
okay this got really long i'm putting it under the cut.
But before you get started, there really are some things you need to ask yourself first:
How am I going to get the text from this game?
If your answer is "write it down by hand as I play" then already know that there HAS to be a better way. If you're choosing that method, get yourself emulation, save states, or endless patience, because hooh boy, I've done a little bit of that for a different project (no, I will not elaborate) but save scumming on original hardware to get different dialogue options is agony.
Is there a text dump for your game? Is there a file dump or decomp for your game? Do you have the technical know how to access it? If not, are you confident in your knowledge of the game to accurately identify where all dialogue may occur? If not, are you satisfied missing out on nothing lines and just focusing on the non-optional? Is your game linear enough to not need a closer look at the code to figure out what happens when, as isat does?
2. What's my scope?
Again, do you truly want every line from this game, or just what's "important"? I personally cannot rest until I've exhausted the fucking Menus (which is why there's a script page for those, too) because I'm a completionist with delusions of grandeur, but some people are satisfied transcribing the cutscenes and nothing else (MUCH TO MY ANNOYANCE WHEN I NEED THE OTHER STUFF.... nobody cares about the optional collectible npc dialogue BUT I CARE!!! I CARE!!!!!)
Anyways, what exactly your scope is is gonna significantly influence what your next step looks like.
3. How am I going to present this?
Making the isat script project an individual website mainly came down to how finicky the dialogue in isat is. There's conditionals stacked on conditionals and I wanted a space where I had total control over how to present these factors without influence.
For more linear games, like, say, that time I made all the fewiki scripts for Fire Emblem 6 from chapter 12 onward, it was easy enough to present the scripts on a wiki page just because the game is much more linear, there's less dialogue to begin with, and all conditional text could be nicely divided up into similar groups, like boss dialogue where the condition is just "fight boss with x character".
isat script project would not exist without my fire emblem fixation, fun fact. other fun facts include that as a child i attempted to novelize Mario Party DS by transcribing all story mode text into a booklet by hand, and I did not finish this for reasons that are hopefully obvious.
This is, as you may figure, way easier to do. There is significantly less burden on you to actually understand how a website works - I cannot stress enough that the current state of the script project is only possible thanks to Gold, and without them, we'd still be at all dialogue being formatted as <p><b>Siffrin:</b> Says some text.</p>
For a lot of older games, you can also find whole game scripts being put up into a single document. Tis common on gamefaqs, I've used those plenty. There I believe you're just working with plain ol txt.
The rule is always though look at examples and if they do something cool figure out whether you can copy it. i did not create the website layout myself, i used a base and fiddled with it for a whole weekend until it stopped exploding.
Again, like, using an existing structure like a wiki or gamefaqs or just google docs or a spreadsheet is a significantly eased burden. One of my favorite things ever is actually a text dump on github, of all places. For this one, the person putting it up chose to leave all text in as close to original state as possible, doing no trimming of things like character emotes and leaving in all original string titles of every line. This is also incredibly useful, even if it is more difficult to use for your average schmoe! (This has fucking saved me doing wiki stuff for engage. engage text dump i ADORE you)
Do you want to be as accurate to the code as possible, or as accurate to the game? Do you have the time, energy, and skills to make the visual presentation nice? Or do you want to keep it rudimentary to streamline your process?
If you ARE doing something like making your own website, it is crucial that you figure out your visuals early, lest you be like us, and be stuck in Reformatting Hell for several months, because someone figured out how to make a thing prettier and nicer to read, and now you need to update the 100+ pages you've already created.
Reformatting code like that takes just as long as making a page in the first place, by the by, because you're just not getting around copy-pasting everything line by agonizing line.
This stuff takes HOURS. If I went at it alone, I doubt I'd have finished by now, or within the next like, two years. This is a really time consuming hobby, and I love doing it a lot, it scratches my exact fixation itch, but if your game is huge, consider seeing if people would be interested in joining you? I will also say being autistic about your game of choice is also a bonus in the sustainability department.
Many a times there were just no updates (as they are now) cuz I am just. Distracted by something else. Like yes on one hand I'm going to uni now and have less time but it's not really less time if I can still put 17hrs into a new video game in three days.
Stuff like this is ALWAYS a long-term project and you WILL need to take time off from it or else you'll start seeing html in your dreams and get burnout.
STREAMLINE YOUR PROCESS!!! FIGURE OUT HOW TO DO THIS WITH AS LITTLE EFFORT AS POSSIBLE!!!! Gold introduced me to Espanso, which is a program that lets you set up keyboard shortcuts to insert phrases, which was a MAAAAAASSIVE time saver in the html department, as it allowed me to just rapid fire paste in all the many html classes we stacked for the presentation of the site. even if you are doing a script on a wiki where everything does look like ['''Siffrin:''' says a thing] you will still be doing yourself a favor if you can shorten that '''Siffrin:''' to just typing :s .
As a side note, I also wanna say like. The popularity of isat script project is a complete outlier. Other game scripts may be used by a maniac like me to overanalyze the plot structure of Sonic 06, but you're very likely not going to see that recognition. I love doing this, because I want these resources to exist for myself. I don't do this for the good of the fandom, but because it is useful to me. I started this because I was writing isat fanfic, and got tired of looking up dialogue on youtube or booting up my own game.
Do I know if anyone found my FE6 scripts useful? No. Do I know if anyone is going through Veyle/Quotes and appreciating that I transcribed all the fucking battle voice clips? No. Do I know if someone appreciates me accurately labelling all voice lines from the ring polishing minigame in engage? Hell no. I don't know, I'm never going to get feedback on that. Those are wiki pages, anyone can edit them, they don't have viewcounts or comments I can look at, and the fandom just isn't as prone to taking screenshots and posting about them line by line as isat.
Isat blew the fuck up on tumblr. I'm not saying you'll get no recognition at all, but if you are relying on external motivators, you are probably going to peter out. There are pages I've worked on for other script things that I've genuienly not touched in two years because I just didn't feel like it, and that's also okay.
TLDR:
Figure out how to get the text you need with the least effort possible (and figure out whether doing that is even possible at all!), figure out what scope you're actually willing to put up with, and present it with the least effort possible, because everything else just isn't sustainable. Streamline streamline streamline. Be prepared to spend hours on this and maybe like find a new favorite podcast to just copy paste text to, because honestly, doing this is also pretty zen.
And most importantly, sparkle on, don't forget to have fun! Even if it seems big and intimidating, you can still make it just a fun side project, and slowly chip away at it over time. Rome wasn't built in a day, and with all the advantages going for isat script project (additional manpower, unencrypted files, easy tools for game examination) it still took over a year to complete.
(loop voice) Don't make the same mistakes I did, okay?
oh, yeah, one last thing, if you're not putting it on a wiki and ARE making your own website, ABSOLUTELY PUT IT ON GITHUB!!!! setting up so any changes to the main branch on github get reflected onto neocities is pretty easy and you only need to do it once, and what this allows is to just have random strangers show up and fix your problems for you. sometimes someone will just show up and fix five bajillion typos and then leave. or they'll stick around and help with more stuff and wowie you have a semblance of a team now.
if you're doing it on a wiki, find like, the wiki discord, if someone is interested in chipping in. if you're doing your own website, put it on github. do it. do it do it do it.
#feli gets asked#I HOPE THIS ISNT DISCOURAGING!!!!#it just pays off VERY WELL to know how your thing is going to look like before you start!!#you will save A LOT OF TIME!!!!#isat is also just. WAY EASY to do this thing for!!#even my other example of my pookie beloved f/e6#has available tools to closely examine the whole game top to bottom in febuilder#it takes more effort than rpgmaker mv but i CAN just. look at the game code and try to reconstruct what occurs why#(even if it took a fuckin youtuber and an age old reddit thread to figure out one enemy's weird and wacky AI)#but for modern games this is SO MUCH MORE DIFFICULT!!!#you are ALWAYS going to have an easier time of a) old games#b) games with modding tools#c) indie games made in known programs#d) games without encryption#and d are also. more likely to be indie games to begin with

Brainstorming Ideas for Step 5 Mod...
Recently, I've been in my finalizing planning step (it's messy) for this mod, and I wanted to brain-dump some ideas for the logistical side of things. I decided there would be two main routes to focus on right away: Pregnancy and Adoption. While I plan on making a 3rd route to let players choose neither and just have fluffy, child-free moments with their husband/boyfriend Cove, that is not my main focus for the mod initially. Additionally, I would LOVE to make a surrogacy option, but again, it is not my main focus and will have to be something I consider after the 2 main routes are finished.
Also, for simply the sake of maintaining my sanity, Step 5 is going to have to be fully linear, meaning moments will happen in chronological order. Although they will still be able to be fully skipped and will include content warnings (if applicable) at the beginning of each one! (with the exception of a few key moments, to be expanded on later…) Now to get into the brainstorming itself, I'd like to share the outlines I've cooked up for these routes:
Pregnancy Route
During the pregnancy route, the MC and Cove will be able to have a biological child together through the MC becoming pregnant. This route is only avaliable if the player chooses that the MC was assigned female at birth or is intersex and assumes the MC still has female reproductive organs and anatomy conducive to pregnancy. Although the player can choose during gameplay whether or not they ever developed breasts/had them removed. I plan on making this route be split up into five optional moments, over the course of 9 months, with at least one optional moment before the MC becomes pregnant (not related to pregnancy at all) and at least two non-skippable moments after their baby is born. Additionally, I want as many people as possible to be able to play and enjoy this mod and also be comfortable and feel represented while doing so!!
Because of this, I know not everyone is comfortable with in-depth depictions of things such as pregnancy or talk of medical conditions, yet still want to have the experience. While obviously, there will be no outright graphic or disturbing things in the mod, I still want people to be comfortable playing. For this reason, I want to implement a “Safe” mode that cuts out any and all potentially triggering subjects for a fully wholesome, discomfort-free experience. When the mod is finished, I plan to have full documentation of what these moments are so players can give a quick read-through at their discretion before playing. Additionally, I may implement an additional system to cut out small, unneeded references to the MC’s pregnancy by family members, Cove, etc, for those uncomfortable with the fact being shoved in their face during gameplay, allowing a sort of “High” or “Low” reference mode (similar to initiative levels, I suppose!).
Adoption Route
I don't have a whole lot to say on the adoption route, as I feel like it's a whole lot more straightforward (and will give me less headaches hopefully...) But I plan to give it a similar story structure to the former. This play style will be open to any MC, regardless of identity. The MC and Cove do not need to be married for this option to occur, but they have to have been in a long-term relationship at least since before Step 4. Like the pregnancy route, there'll be at least one optional moment before Cove and the player decide to adopt a child, followed by 3-5 moments as Cove and the MC make this decision and navigate the process of becoming parents. They will be followed by at least two moments after their child is adopted. As for the child Cove and the MC adopt, I'm considering making their appearance randomized from a few looks and you'll also get to decide to do a domestic or international adoption, although this won't have an impact on their child's looks. ANYWAY... That concludes my rants, thanks for reading. Do you have any concerns, comments, or questions? Suggestions for how I could make this mod better/more inclusive?

@sepulkralkreatur and i binge-watched the new kafka biopic-series, produced by german television. and i got to say - i loved it so much.
it combined the littlest details from kafka's life and also his aftermath, with his literary work - which often was linked to certain events. for those who read his work and diaries/biographies, spotting all the little references was very fun. and one of my most favourite things was probably the narrator with the reoccurring break of the fourth wall - as well as the music and collage-esque animations.
every episode was told through the perspective of significant people from kafka's life and dealt with a certain theme:

- as well as a 7th bonus-episode "kafka and me", which was more of a documental biography take with interviews, with a dog narrating the scenario and kafka's impact on our society.

joel basman did a great job at portraying franz kafka. the voice, the laugh and facial expressions being awkward all were very fitting and closing the hole, that we as readers experience towards kafka as a person.
the non-linear series served the exact atmosphere, that i associate with kafka: tragedy, humour, and the absurd. daniel kehlmann and david schalko did a great job on writing it. chapeau!

Keep Unnecessary Meetings to a Minimum
“Don’t attend unnecessary meetings,” advises Jersey, an Autistic activist in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Jersey has been on the front lines of numerous pro-Palestinian actions in the past several months, serving as a medic during the #BlocktheBoat action to delay the shipment of munitions to Israel, shutting down the Oakland Federal Building, and blocking the Bay Bridge, an action for which he was arrested and charged with false imprisonment (among other laughable charges) by the San Franciso District Attorney. Since the siege on Gaza began in October of last year, Jersey has been living and breathing for the Palestinian cause. Yet even he has limits.
“Tell [fellow organizers] that your capacity for meeting, especially in real life, is low,” he says. Instead of having to speak at length with organizers about your interest in getting involved, see if you can articulate your own role within the movement. That way, you won’t have to be “managed” as much.
“For example, if you’re a photographer, tell people that and then demonstrate that you can show up relatively independently, take great photos, and then show them with the group,” he says. Once you have proven yourself to be reliable and competent, you can skip meetings without facing as much criticism.
Many organizing spaces are oriented around neuro-conformist standards of what socializing and planning for an event must look like. Non-Autistic people generally process new information socially as part of an ongoing dialogue, whereas many Autistics prefer receiving all the relevant facts in a single, linear document they can read and process on their own. Many activists also enter a movement with intense emotional needs, and wish for others to bear witness to their suffering and share how they are feeling too. This means that those of us who find socializing and emotional processing to be draining will have to advocate for ourselves.
“We can remind organizations to be intentional about what does and does not have to be a meeting,” says Aeryn, another organizer. “Sometimes all you really need is an online survey, a memo, or a thread where people can ask questions online.”
If you can, tell meeting organizers that you are unavailable to meet often, but that you will listen to meeting recordings or read the agenda on your own time, and then communicate through email or private message to indicate that you have. Depending on how much you trust an organization and its leadership, you can either explain directly that you cannot process information in real-time easily because of your disability, or you can simply say you’re busy with school, work, or family obligations.
Operating independently may require being strategic in the roles you take on within an organization. Jersey says: “If you’ve never done security but want to do security, you will have to do a lot of training and meeting with people. But if you’re already a trained medic and have some type of credential… you can probably just tap into a medic chat and sign up for events as they arise.” This, in fact, is what he’s done.
Of course, it will be sometimes be necessary to get to know other members of your organization of choice, express your own perspectives to the group, and receive updates through some form of meeting. However, there are still many accommodations you can request to make those meetings more accessible:
Push for Accessible Meetings
When an activist movement is new or its resources are limited, its meetings may tend to be urgent, somewhat disorganized affairs, rife with lots of thinking out loud and amorphous brainstorming and possessing little in the way of an agenda.
Autistic people typically find it very hard to contribute to such meetings, because the flow of conversation is unpredictable and confusing, and most of us struggle with knowing when it’s appropriate to jump in and offer a comment. The constant flux in conversation topics is exhausting for us to keep up with, as are all the social and emotional undercurrents bubbling beneath what’s actually being said.
After the meeting is over, we may have almost no recollection of what was shared, because we were putting so much energy into masking and wearing our “listening faces.” Critiques and questions may occur to us hours after the discussion has ended, after we’ve had some time alone to digest and reflect. Even if we are physically present within a space, we are pervasively excluded when meetings are conducted in such an unstructured, overwhelming way.
Thankfully, all of this can be avoided. Here are some of the accommodations that organizing meetings should provide in order to maximize their accessibility — not just for the sake of Autistics, but for anyone who struggles to process verbal information quickly and form their own immediate verbal responses to it on the fly:

By Frank Bergman March 16, 2025
Multiple federal government agencies have just admitted that planes have been spraying lingering chemicals into the sky that alter the weather.
The bombshell admission was revealed in a new report published by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
The agencies refer to the lingering atmospheric particles as “contrails.”
The newly released report, titled “Contrails Research Roadmap 2025,” lays out plans for “routine, system-wide contrail management” by 2050.
While the government refers to them as “contrails,” what the report describes is functionally the same thing people have been calling “chemtrails” for years.
The report explains that jets have been spraying substances that linger in the sky, alter the weather, and affect the temperature on Earth.
Although the report doesn’t reveal whether the practice is intentional or not, the federal agencies are making an admission of widespread atmospheric manipulation.
According to the government document, two types of persistent contrails can last from hours to days and have significant impacts on the atmosphere.
The report details “persistent non-spreading contrails” which “can remain visible and retain their linear features for hours to days.”
