it’s a trickle of blood and it’s a sense of something cracking. 

a mirror that’s starting to lose its precision. his own reflection has never been familiar to him but now it stands DISTORTED. bloated with damage that he shouldn’t have ever gotten to know. the smudges, the cracks-- the bruises and the cuts. they should have stayed a possibility ONLY.

and yet a scorching thrill comes with the air biting at his wounds.

he shakes off the punch that hit him in his face and stares at goku. he SPITS purple blood at his feet. and he RUSHES FORWARD. 

❛ i was NOT created for any of that !! ❜ his fist is caught by goku’s open palm, the impact drags him forward while goku is pushed back. ❛ I AM ABOVE THAT !! ❜ he SHOUTS, his knee shoots upwards faster than goku can see it and it SLAMS into his chin. cell feels flakes of bone chipping off underneath the soft saiyan skin and he reaches forward, trying to dig into the damage and keep going, keep chasing after the FLAWS goku tried to teach to him. but he doesn’t move fast enough. a flash of pained eyes catches his manic gaze and goku is suddenly gone, only to reappear far away from him. his hungry claws close around empty air.

with the new space between them, they finally have room to breathe hard. cell wipes at his mouth, his chest rises up and down. in front of him, goku is doing the same. 

a different kind of mirror.

❛ you’re a fool. ❜ the words form themselves in his mouth before he can analyze what they mean and what do they expose. his fist tightens. ❛ an ignorant wretch. ❜

when one is created to be a tool, being selfish is the only way they can be a person. 

but he doesn’t say that, he doesn’t CARE about anyone else being aware of his own made-up personhood. those who were BORN, those who were left up to a chance-- they will never understand. but they will stand before him call him evil, call him a monster-- AND BORE HIM WITH CONCEPTS THAT DON’T APPLY TO HIM.

the break is over, he decides. the anger swells up in him again, fills up the cracks and blemishes and biting wounds that should have never been. the burning ki in his body rushes to gather in his hands, setting them ablaze.

But, the goofy Saiyan before her was very dear to her. So, of course she was going to cave and allow him to play with Vegeta’s toy.
