It's kinda weird to me to see mizu as transmasc. Like I don't think it's necessarily wrong but just... what.

She was forced to present herself as male so that she wouldn't be found, and continues living that way. It's not explored a whole lot which is why I think it's fine as a headcanon because yeah it's easy to say she was forced into it but found she preferred it that way. Or to say she doesn't care but it was easier to live that way since she had been doing it for thet long.

I just personally feel like if anything it better fits a transfeminine experience because even though she is born female, she was forced to live her life a gender she isn't.

I haven't watched the show in over a year so i could be misremembering but I don't think she ever shows any discomfort in being female. When she lives as a woman wither her husband and the woman who raised her she seems a bit uncomfortable at first but that could easily be because it's just different and she's not used to it. It's shown that those were the times that she was arguably most happy and comfortable she's ever been in herself.

And also iirc there was a scene, I think during her teen years, where she was wrapping her chest or looking at herself in the mirror or something and did specifically seem unhappy or uncomfortable. Of course she was using bandages so it could easily just be that she's in pain. But still I think it fits into a transfeminine allegory.

#which is kind of funny because this is the opposite of how i feel about chihiro from danganronpa #if chihiro was written by someone who actually understood or wanted to understand a transfeminine experience #she would be transfemme representation #bc theres a difference between these two #chihiro is just not very good representation honestly #“oh she was a cross dresser” even though she fully lived her life as a woman #“she wanted to be strong” okay??? you dont have to be a man to be strong?? they are separate things #also it was other characters who decided she was really a man #not chihiro #chihiro never shows discomfort in being a woman just in having her secret shared #mizu potentially shows discomfort in being male #and definitely shows comfort in one momenet #and a part of that moment was her being a woman #idk #the differences between these two are interesting #but theres also similarities #mizu blue eye samurai #blue eye samurai #chihiro fujisaki #danganronpa #mizu #transgender #transfem #trans #trans woman
