S4 E8 —  After two strangers are rescued from their stranded ship, Kirk sympathizes and offers them work in the laundry room. But when the newcomers steal a shuttle -- and every uniform on the Enterprise -- the senior officers must track them down or face court martial, naked. Check out the full Star Trek cowboy crossover series in case you missed an entry!

Sometimes I get the feeling the only way we could achieve a STAR TREK segment on budget would be to have 60 minutes of Mister Spock playing kazoo solo as Captain Kirk holds him in his arms while standing in a telephone booth. -Robert Justman (associate producer of TOS)
Actually, I think that a lot of people would have loved this on-budget episode.
Quote from "These Are The Voyages: TOS Season One" by Marc Cushman.

This is what I love so much about Spock's line:
"Did you enjoy it, Captain?"
in this Spirk conversation in Shore Leave.
Kirk spends a ridiculous amount of time time chasing down and fighting (what turns out to be a fictional representation of) his old rival Finnegan. The two of them beat the everloving shit out of each other while Spock ostensibly watches; that is, he watches Kirk run off to fight Finnegan, and then he reappears quite suddenly as soon as Kirk knocks Finnegan out. Kirk seems slightly embarrassed when he realizes Spock must have been paying attention the whole time.
Spock doesn't judge Kirk; he approaches him with curiosity. He doesn't try to stop him at any point during the fight, even though Kirk is getting injured and Spock's first instinct is always to protect Kirk from harm. In fact, Spock understands that the fight is cathartic for Kirk even before Kirk does, and he actually helps Kirk understand that by asking him, "Did you enjoy it?"
SPOCK: Did you enjoy it, Captain? KIRK: Yes, I enjoyed it. After all these years (Realization dawns.) I did enjoy it. (Spock nods.) The one thing I wanted to do after all these years was to beat the tar out of Finnegan. SPOCK: Which supports a theory I've been formulating.
Remember, earlier in the episode, Spock sassily tricks Kirk into admitting that he needs to take a break, and then actually even almost-smiles a little bit when he tells him to go enjoy himself.
Tumblr media
This whole fight scene between Kirk and Finnegan seems kind of silly on the surface, but it's actually very important. On a planet where your foremost thoughts come true, Kirk's first thought is that he wants to inflict pain on the past and receive pain in return. He is racked with survivor guilt from trauma that stretches all the way from Tarsus IV and the Farragut to all the crewmembers who have died under his responsibility, including his beloved Bones who was killed (surprise! not really! but he doesn't know that) in the prior scene. His deepest wishes are:
1. to finally win at something that always seemed unwinnable (he can't save all those people, but he can beat the shit out of and knock out an old bully)
2. to earn redemption somehow (getting beaten physically as a type of penance)
3. and to feel something else besides the unimaginable soul pain he is feeling (his injuries give him a different kind of pain to feel: the physical kind).
Tumblr media
Yes, Spock's "Did you enjoy it?" sounds kinda sexual and so we laugh, but he truly sees Kirk, he understands, he watches over him while he works through some of his shit in his own way, and he is actually saying exactly this:
"Did you enjoy the pain? Was it good pain? Was the catharsis satisfying?"
"Did you get what you needed from that? How is your healing going? Are you going to be okay?"
"I see you. I understand you. I love you."
It's not sexual, but it is very intimate.

In your fem!trek, do Jim's boobs still get cameos every other episode? If not, is there an alternative?
hmmmmm.
Tumblr media
honestly i have no qualms against going yeah, totally (because, well. 23rd century, after all.) but then again variety is the spice of life and there is just something about underboob and a glimpse of that abdomen that hits SO hard. so i guess f!kirk utilizes this particular... diplomatic strategy constantly loll
also i saw the note you left about f!scotty (saaaame lmao <3333) and let's just say most of the enterprise crew shares the sentiment xDD:

So! Still currently obsessed with “Person (A) who’s a damn near saint with a bit of a dark side and they can get annoyed at others but never get annoyed with their crush (B) who’s usually good at annoying others and even makes it their mission to annoy A to no avail and they really want their crush to acknowledge them as at least a friend, and B is a really sweet person who’s also a bit of an asshole in a regular way and doesn’t completely buy A’s “saint routine” (even tho it is mostly true) and is also canonically pretty with anger issues”
Hannibal has the “seems like a good person but is secretly dark” as well as “gets annoyed at everyone else but not at Will for being rude” and Will has the “suspicious of him” part, but there’s no Hannibal genuinely being mostly a saint and not enough fics of Will being sweet (specifically to scratch this itch, I’m not saying Will should be sweet in fics)
Tos Spirk has Spock being particularly indulgent of Jim, but nothing else of this dynamic I’m looking for, aos Spirk has Jim being an asshole while still being a mostly good person, but not really much of aos Spock indulging him as part of their canon interactions is that Jim annoys him while Spock is unphased by other people
Tos Spock x Aos Jim is the closest to the dynamic I’m looking for, with aos Jim being kind of an asshole with anger issues who upsets others but tos Spock is v indulgent of him and is almost “saint-like”, but there’s not really him getting annoyed at others nor is there really a “dark side” to him (there is usually a “selfishness” acknowledged in fics because he feels like he’s taking aos Jim away from his counterpart because he wants more time with his t’hy’la even if it’s an alternate version of him, but I don’t think that’s really a “dark side”)
Then there’s the ship that got me into this dynamic (Gumball Watterson x Alan Keane) which is. there’s one fic that mostly has what I’m looking for, it’s tagged unrequited, so what, I’m just supposed to start writing tawog fics??? Yeah I want that specific dynamic, but I’d like it to be with adults, and these characters wouldn’t fully work for how I’d like this dynamic to be utilized
So I guess I’m making ocs?? I’d still have to make my own fics (😭😭😭) but I could have more control on how I’d want the characters to be like so I can get exactly what I want, buuut I’d also have to come up with everything: what they look like, their backgrounds, their names, etc, and I’m soooo bad at stuff like that

In honour of 56 years of fuck-or-die, slash fiction, and The Premise :)
Based on an original comic by Kate Beaton
Image ID under cut
[Image ID: A three panel black-and-white Star Trek comic.
First panel: Spock grips Kirk's bicep and says "Captain I am biologically compelled to ravish you".
Second panel: A wide shot reveals he and Kirk are standing next to the Captain's chair. Kirk says "Not on the Bridge, Mister Spock". In the foreground, Sulu smirks to Chekov and says "Like that's ever stopped him" In the background, Uhura is smirking at Kirk and Spock.
Third panel: Spock sits at his science station, fists shaking, teeth gritted. He says "Then I will sit here consumed with lust until I die". In the corner is the artist's signature, '@aerialworms' /End ID]

honestly tbh at the end of the day what i really truly want from snw’s treatment of spock and jim in the next season above all else is just for them to be in a Situation that they have to work through together. literally just let them be the only ones not affected by the conflict of the week so the two of them have to save everyone. knock their heads together like coconuts and illustrate why their command strategies complement one another so well. just show me jim and spock being a good team prior to them being captain and first officer show me why jim would’ve picked him specifically when he takes over the enterprise show me them being the best command team starfleet’s ever had PLEASEEEEEEE they don’t even need to be romantic i just want them to do spock and jim stuff and be smart and Make Each Other Better at doing their jobs that’s like the hottest most sexy thing they do
