Grey v.1 (he's so young I didn't even change the design //jkjk I love this design he's my child)

So, Grey is the latest of my original stickmen character for my AvA universe. I had a pretty solid idea of what I wanted to do with this character from the beginning on, so let just let me talk about it for a second.

Grey is an artificial stickman created by the creator after Topaz, Celest and Fern disappeared into the Outernet during a device transfer. Since the sticks and the human had a very good relationship, obviously the creator was worried. So, to find them in the digital space: Grey was created.

I am going to be honest: Grey's design is plain, literally, he only rocks one color in total. But that is what he's supposed to be: average - although the coat looks really fancy I want it irl too :(. He was created to find someone, so of course he has to blend in and stay in the background. Combine that with a quiet nature and a sharp mind you've got the perfect, unassuming observer ready for the job.

The creator gifted their creation a rendition of a red Nintendo 3Ds (don't sue me pls / I have this console irl and it is my favorite, so imagine my joy when I was able to squeeze this into here :D). This console doesn't function how the original however - but more of a mean to communicate: a messenger and noteblock that help the detective with his work. It is also a form of direct communication between the creator and Grey, and currently the two are working on gathering information of the Outernet and finding the lost three.

Ah, before I forget, in the right depiction he is holding a crowbar. I haven't had the chance yet to further explore these combat abilities (I will), but Grey carries a crowbar as a weapon, consealed within his long coat.

So yeah, Grey forged his background and got a job at Rocket Corp. and idk- 'Detective Grey' has a nice ring to it, so hell yeah! It's the classic insider/double life trope - he knows that his superiors are suspicious of him, but they can't just fire him since they are understaffed.

Originally, Grey was only created with one purpose, which he is determined to fullfil while not blowing his cover - however since he met Lilac, the guy has a social life now! Wow! It's clear that he hadn't had time in his life to actually understand himself or his own identity and now he is struggling with basic questions like: - what do I like to do? - what do I not like? - who am I?

-existential crisis, hooray! No, this is to make him more human - that he is not a machine, and he slowly realizes this as well as Lilac drags him out to social events. It's a nice touch and portrays the struggles of someone who has a purpose, but is left reeling outside of it.

To finish this monstrum of a rant, I like Grey because he is a quiet character that is very expressionless, but not emotionless. He is direct, clever and got a no nonsense attitude - and even if he doesn't talk much, he picks up on everything around him and works hard to fullfil the expectations placed on him.

I just hope this stress doesn't come crashing down on him somewhen, would be a shame... :)

(i don't know why this is so common. like a few jokes are expected in any fandom, but so many people honestly see blue as nothing but the funny druggie and that infuriates me. for personal reasons, i hate when people turn addictions into just a joke, especially to demean characters that are NOT like that. sure, blue can have struggles with addiction in general. i think that's interesting to explore, especially with avaddiction. i just want people to stop claiming netherwart is the addiction. alan specifically made avaddiction NOT about netherwart. i'm begging you please-)

i see where you’re coming from my fellow blue anon.. honestly blue is SUCH a cool and caring stick but i hate seeing them dumbed down to their ‘addiction’ when they have all these other personality traits and abilities that are SOO neat AARRGH it makes me mad sometimes. honestly i see them as impulsive which is why they were so quick to succumb to.. whatever those weird buttons in animation vs addiction were?? Fent maybe i. dont know animation versus addiction is my second favorite episode (#1 is surprisingly NOT a blue focus its noteblock universe) because it just like emphasizes on this struggle thats been implicated throughout their character for quite some time

Here’s my Grapeduo swap au! I looked at these two and thought “wow, they’re actually really similar” and wanted to see how they would act in each other shoes.

Basically Purple is from the Sticks Fight Website and Green gets to have not-great-horrible-ok parents! Some notes:

Green basically has the same backstory as Purple - Navy sucks, Orchid Dandelion dies, he gets into Minecraft - but in this AU, Green gets validation and attention from his channel Greenzilla where he posts Minecraft vlogs and pranks

Purple looks at the CG for validation and compares themselves to an imaginary standard that they THINK that their friends hold them to. Purple can’t catch a break

Green still has his fishing rod and Purple has their elytra

Purple and Red are basically the Orange and Green duo in this AU. They’re each other’s ride or die and an unstoppable force in prank wars. Orange doesn’t have a BFF to have matching sunglasses with tho :(

Despite Purple’s love for causing chaos and destruction, they’re actually the most likely besides Orange to make a plan before rushing into action, much to Orange’s relief

Since the whole thing with their parents never happened, Purple would probably lean more into the chaos causing, property damaging side of them

Purple’s probably somewhat more upbeat and less anxiety-ridden while Green’s ego is 20x bigger and 20x more easier to bruise

Green is probably more prone to anger too. And has a crazy superiority complex

In AvM S1, Green is ruling the Macbook. Except the economy runs on daily MrBeast challenges for Green’s channel so the economy is crashing and everyone is miserable. He tries to steal the Dragon Egg because “I STEAL THE ENDER EGG AND BEAT MINECRAFT (SHOCKING)” would make a fire video title (also bc Green thinks that if he shows Navy this video and his channel, then Navy would actually feel proud of him. Green. Buddy. Stop trying to use your channel as a way to reach out to your absent MIA father)

then AvLoL happens and ig the only change to that would be…idk fixing that one weird plothole. Why DIDNT Purple just destroy the tower?????

I haven’t fully figured out AvM S3 but King would probably make Green think he’s the actual “ruler” bc “I CONQUERED ALL OF MINECRAFT” is way cooler then “I HELPED SOME RANDOM STRANGER CONQUER MINECRAFT”. King pretends to serve Green while planning to betray and steal the Minecraft block from him. It’s a whole thing. Green would probably some sort of cheap staff prototype while King would own the actual staff.

Very weird relationship with King and Green. Green has spent the past few with people not meeting up to his very high expectations and King (and his parents) is no exception. Except King is also the only parent-aged person he’s met in a few years so he cuts King some slack because Green WANTS King to live up to the standards he put HIS parents at. Which his pearents have not met. At all. Even if he tries to deny it. But Green is also pretty observant so he notices that some things about King doesn’t add up. But he’s kinda desperate for social interaction so he just kinda passively ignores it and stays paranoid. Also he likes the control of being King (gotta fuel the superiority complex). Ruling is fun. He probably introduced the MrBeast Challenges to the piglin for content

King finds Green and his channel a nuisance, but he also needs help finding the CG so he just deals with it. And Green is the only consistent social interaction he’s had for the past few years. Plus Green is surprisingly useful and insightful????? He would ditch the kid for a slice of pizza and a sprite tho

Idk how Noteblock Universe would go since Purple doesn’t really seem like the comforting type?? Idk I feel like this would go much more differently tho. Purple would be very direct with how they feel

…and yeah! That’s how far i’ve gotten tbh. Yay. Maybe i’ll make a more organized follow up post later

What do those actually look like?

In canon, we are shown the IP addresses of the computers, but the Wifi tunnel was essentially just Chosen busting a hole through Alan's IP address square thingy.

So... Im currently imagining the wifi tunnels like the musical strings from the noteblock universe, when Purple explains his situation.

Wait how high up are they, if they are like those stringy things??

Because I can kind of imagine Dark, or the community sticks if the strings were low enough with ladders, flying up there and grabbing the tunnel-strings and then hanging banners on it.

and then the banners say how the villains suck XD

Wifi tunnel!! Filters internet information through, but sticks can't go through and end up on human computers or apps.

This is an extreme closeup, they look like silvery stars or lights from the city level and make for a glittery look against the blue Outernet sky.

I consider canon!Chosen's "wifi tunnel" to be something of an anomaly. Not supposed to happen at all, but Chosen is Chosen so he managed what some would call an impossible feat.

The Noteblock Universe visuals were very pretty! I imagine the circuit lines [the green-ish grey-ish stuff I attempted to draw above the barrier and the wifi tunnel-] are somewhat similar!

XD I WISH, honestly- But the barrier and the wifi tunnels are too far up, no one would see any banners, unless they really squint. Even then, it'd just be like "Do I see a little, odd brightly colored spot up there with everything else...?" Not to mention, there are no strings below for anyone to hang anything on.

The barrier works similarly to the world barrier in Minecraft. You can collide with it, and cannot pass through it, but you also cannot build things right up against it, unless you began at the floor of the world and built all the way up to the barrier, so that something could be technically right alongside it and look like you placed something right against it, when you didn't.

XD The whole "banners that proclaim villain stupidity and inferior nature and lack of skill in general" thing, reminds me of a Skit and another Skit I did once...

OKAY SO FOR RAMBLING. firstly. Green's shorts with the music blocks are so so sooo funny to me, and their concert????? 10/10. I love it. Like i listen to the music at full blast because of how good it is. I also really liked the YouTube episode- honestly, Green and Orange were a great team and the idea of uploading themselves??? fluffing genius.

I love everyone's personality so so much. Green can be SO smug its honestly hilarious (referencing the Cake Prank episode, i was literally crying), but these little stick figures have so much compassion in them too its crazy. (episode 30, mc, aka the noteblock universe). i like how everyone has their own gimmick too! i had a bunch of notes while watching everything, with details about each stick. Green probably kins spiderman i think

I think instead of doing plot or shenanigans or whatever we should just have Green playing music and vibing (or a villain arc) until the next ava. He deserves it
