"I... I was a shepherd...?" Derint puzzled over this, not realizing he had clung to Eve. Once again he was fighting himself - anger trying to bubble out of him while fear kept him still.
"Where... no- where'd they go??" He glanced around in a panic, his breath picking up.
"All the souls- they're supposed to be-... no, that's not right.." he didn't know what he was supposed to do anymore.
"My champion! He's supposed to.." once again he was lost. Everything was out of place, and it left him a disoriented mess.
"...Floris! They're so mean to me! I'm supposed to destroy them-... right...?" He couldn't even tell if this one stable fact was true, having to rely on the only person he felt was safe enough to trust.

"Oh, hello little one." Frost poked his head into the debris of a recently felled building, the district completely destroyed around it. In a war such as this one, it was often difficult to find survivors. He usually returned home empty handed and sorrowful. But, to his surprise, that wasn't the case today.
"Hold on just a moment, okay? I'm going to get you out of there." He kept his voice calm and soothing as he carefully shifted the rubble, using his ice magic to support the structure so it wouldn't come down as he started digging out an exit.
Eve whimpered, curled in a ball as much as she could. Nothing made sense.
She was small, and there were weird pulsing things inside her (organs, logic said, but that was impossible-). The world was different, unfamiliar, bright and dirty in ways no Grid had ever been. She'd scrambled to hide in a building, and something had brought it crashing down.
Her feathers wouldn't completely go away, a few small pink ones stubbornly threading through her hair.
...and her leg was stuck. Pinned under what used to be a wall.
It hadn't shattered into cubes, but the way it hurt and was leaking a little bit of red (like User life fluid-) was possibly worse.
She barely heard the friendly voice, big pink eyes flashing in the light when she looked up and saw another person. "Hurts." She managed to choke out, pointing at her leg. "Trapped."

Derint quieted, trying to put the pieces together.
"But... Tu'uul will strike me into the earth if I don't fight back." He rubbed his face, before glancing around the area.
"My champion is the only thing that will keep me safe, and he doesn't even want to do that. So I have to make sure he'll fight for me. I have to make him into Everis." He sank then, hugging himself. It sounded more like he was talking to himself than Eve.
"But that's not fair! He shouldn't have to turn into something he's not..."

"Everis.." Derint sank, trying not to burst into tears at the question.
"Everis was the only person who knew me.. he was so kind, he understood what I wanted. I think we were friends.. I really wanted to be his friend. When he went to tell everyone I wasn't so evil they-" he grasped his head, starting to crumble and boil.
"Those monsters killed him! They took his form and forced a crown on his head! They forced me to take his body and rule them- I wish death upon them! Death on this world!" He cried, skin cracking as darkness began consuming him. The rain turned to steam when it hit his shoulders.
"He was everything to me! He made this temple for me. He showed me his children - trusted me with them, and those monsters made me kill them!" He pulled away from Eve, letting out a yell of hatred and angony.
"It- it was Tu'uul. Tu'uul thought I was too powerful - told me if I kept ending life, she'd end me. As if- as if I was the one who made mortals die of old age and plague and-" he slumped, breaths picking up as he fought himself again. Soon he just wept, bringing his hands over his face.
"...Everis was kind-... compassionate. So much like Frost, but- no one remembers him- they destroyed the evidence of him existing and now the only person who remembers him is the one who guided his soul into nothingness. I could've kept him-... but what was I supposed to do-? They made me kill his family- he would've hated me." He curled over, forehead bow pressed into the earth.
"...he had such a lovely singing voice... he made songs for me; praising me-.. so why..? Why couldn't he ascend as a normal God? Why did I have to take him away?"

"Stand down? You do not outrank me, child! Frost is in the hands of the enemy, and you've done nothing to truly find where he is!" Zahir instinctively reached for his blade, soon realizing he had stabbed it in the ground earlier to prevent just this from happening. Thankfully, Floris was quick to hold Zahir back.
"Hey, dumbass! She's trying to save the world here. Give her a little credit." Floris huffed at him, guiding him back into the temple where he could sulk without hurting anyone. Clearly, this was only a temporary solution. Zahir was an animal in a cage, wild eyes and restless movement as he paced around the temple.
Although this altercation alongside Eve touching Derint's crown caused the god to yank away once more, hands gripping his head protectively.
"No!" He cried, shutting his eyes. He flickered, struggling to remain in the calm reverence Eve had created for him. Something, or perhaps someone, soothed him and grounded him in the moment again. The rain revealed what almost seemed like a hand on Derint's shoulder, that faded once he was at peace.
"He's in-... he's in my realm... where my armies stay when they're not fighting. I can bring you to him, but-... only if you promise you're not gonna kill me after."

"He deserves so much better than what I can do for him.." Derint looked at his hands, feeling like he was there, serving his unruly following into the death of his only prophet - and closest friend. Before he could continue, Zahir came storming back out of the temple.
"I need to know where he is. Where is he? Where are you keeping him?!" Zahir demanded, having lost control. He grabbed his own head, trying not to snarl like an animal.
"Please. Please."
Derint yanked away from Eve and Zahir both, backing up a bit.
"You're- You're going to kill me, aren't you?" They sounded more frightened than angry, eyes darting between Eve and the deranged Zahir.
