It's Artfight season again!

I was originally going to just do three of these guys but this whole group has completely derailed my life over the past few months so I ended up making sheets for everyone.

Snoozy and Mimzy Sitting in a Tree

Snoozy fidgeted with his fingers, staring at the ground as he clung to his pillow. Today was the day he was finally going to ask his crush out. He just had to wait for them to finish their last performance for the day. He was thankful that the Starhopper Daycare wasn’t as popular as the daycare from further down. What was it? Oh right, the Superstar Daycare. How ironic that there were more celestial animatronics…

The blue animatronic jumped awake as a hand patted his shoulder. “Ah, hey Star,” the bot slurred in his sleepy state. He didn’t mean to be this tired, but he had stayed awake trying to rehearse what he was going to say.

“Hey there, friend! You seem anxious about something. You’re clinging to your pillow for dear life,” Star smiled with a tinge of concern.

“Ah… Yes… I um…” Snoozy struggled to find the correct words. Why was he nervous around Star of all people? He was the face of the Starhopper Daycare! “I just have decided that now was the time to… Y’know…” Snoozy gestured towards the mime performing and making the children laugh and giggle.

“I see! I was wondering when you would get to it. I’m proud of you for working up the courage!”

Snoozy knew Star meant well, but he couldn’t help but be even more embarrassed over how long it had taken. It had been what felt like months. “Yeah, yeah… Don’t jinx it, Star,” He yawned faintly.

“Heh, yeah. Apologies. Well seems now’s your time! I’ll take care of the kiddo’s for ya.”

Snoozy smiled and nodded, making his way to Mimzy. He swore that if he had a heart, it would have exploded by now. His head was already spinning as he approached the mime. “H-hEy-!” He wished for death as his voice box squeaked, now feeling mortified. He clung to his pillow even more as he attempted to regain himself.

“H-hi, Mimzy, uh-”

The bot in question smiled at the stuttering mess before them. They waved with a noise of happiness. ‘Hello, Snoozy! Happy to see you!’ Mimzy signed.

“H-happy to see you too-! I- I-I uh… I, I, I-” Snoozy let out a gentle but frustrated hummed whine. He didn’t like getting stuck on his words like this.

Mimzy tilted their head with a concerned frown, and placed a comforting hand on Snoozy’s shoulder, making the unusually frantic bot jump. ‘Are you okay? Breathe…’

Snoozy let out a “Mhm,” and did a sort of breathing exercise. He felt silly doing this, knowing that they didn’t need to breathe. None of them had lungs after all. Once he grounded himself, he looked up at Mimzy with a flustered squawk. They were close to him. Well, guess it was time to try. Worst they could say was no. “I-I wanted to know if you wanted to go out with me!”

Mimzy blinked in surprise at the sudden raise in volume. They took a moment to process just what Snoozy had said before a bright smile formed on their face. ‘Of course, silly! I would love to!’

The smaller one looked at the taller with oil leaking from his eyes as he let out a sob of relief. He immediately clung to Mimzy, shaking as he cried. Mimzy smiled as they pulled him close, laying his pillow in their lap to prop Snoozy up.

It took a few long minutes for Snoozy to calm down. Of course Mimzy stayed with him as he quickly fell asleep. They rocked gently from side to side, playing with Snoozy’s rays until they too had fallen into slumber. Star only watched from the doorway, glad to see two of his friends finally together peacefully. He chuckled lightly as he left them be, setting the lights in the theater to dim for the two to rest soundly.

Brusk, no-nonsense, and with a bit of an ego as it pertains to her line of work and abilities, formerly-human space exploration craft SERA prefers to sit safely in orbit and send down remotely-controlled anthropoid bodies (her favorite being a 7'5 antelope, pictured) for exploration and interpersonal matters. 

Spending a significant portion of her time exploring and cataloguing uncharted space on contract with only holonet dramas and the rare commlink for company doesn't do much for her social skills, and the fact that what would otherwise be leisurely off-time back home is taken up by irritating advisory work brings her no small amount of frustration. She can't help being a highly advanced upload-AI with a breadth of specialized knowledge that people frequently wish to call upon, but it would help immensely if said people stopped touching the hardware with their oily fingers and chewing intoxicant plants and spitting them out around her.

Third character of mine created for Starhopper, SERA, who alongside Gabe represents the transhumanist side of the setting—the latter is in actuality a genetically modified subset of human, as all non-alien ‘furry’ characters in the setting are, while SERA herself is an upload.

does starhopper have any nicknames they particularly like? if so, why? if not, what are some nicknames that bug them?

starhopper has a lot of nicknames! however, a favorite of hers is starry. she thinks it sounds cool

Starhopper might be dumb (afgectionatly) and naive at times, but she can see when someone is uncomfortable. So, she would try to tone down her excitement as best as she could.

Maybe even take some steps back to give Starbright more room to breathe in, because Starhopper doesn't want her to feel trapped just from being too close.

Sadly, Starhopper doesn't know how to sign. She hasn't really thought about learning it or that it would come in handy some day, but if Starbright was okay with it, she would hand her her data-pad and pen for writing. If not, then yea, Starhopper would look very lost and confused at the hand signs, before admitting that she doesn't understand.

If they end up talking and the topic of dancing came up, Hopper would just bashfully look to the side and admit that she likes watching, but she herself can't dance. Although, someone once said that her movements with the spear come close.

Culinary arts on the other hand aren't her thing though, but cut animals are! She got a bunch of pictures of animals from different planets she visited. Together with some sparkly rocks she either saw or picked up!

Hopefully Starbright doesn't mention sewing, because if she does, Starhopper will talk her ear off about the topic. Maybe even show off some of her best projects like dresses and toys she's done for others whenever she stayed longer on a planet.

I just hope Starbright isn't scared of ghosts, because Starhopper will mention that she's being followed by one. But only once Bright got comfortable around her.

For the Oc interaction thing:

I was thinking about asking how Starbright would react to meeting Starhopper.

Not only because of Starhopper's quest to find another (alive) Star Seeker, but also because I'm curious on how Starbright would deal with having this other Star Seeker get excited over seeing her.

(Also, I hope you're taking your breaks. Being busy is one thing, but not taking a step back to relax is another.)

Ooh, so one thing I haven’t yet mentioned about Starbright is that she’s apprehensive around other Star Seekers. She doesn’t try to be, but it’s deeply rooted in past trauma with her own seeker trine (or whatever it’s called for a group of four) and she hasn’t been able to move on. To put it simply, she witnessed all of their deaths, so loss is something she’s come to associate her own mold with. She hates it! But what else can she think?

Starbright would immediately recognize the chipperness in starhopper, and while she would try to reciprocate it, hopper would probably recognize Bright’s nervousness pretty quickly, even more so that she isn’t planning to talk. Hopefully they’d know how to sign though, since Starbright is comfortable doing it when she doesn’t want to use her voice. If they end up clicking, Starbright might come out of her shell a little and be less visibly cautious; and if Hopper is her friend long enough for her to fully win her trust, then they’ll hear her voice. Do they like dance, culinary arts, or cute animals? Those are easy ways to start a conversation!

33. Does your character like math? How good are they at it? Tiesso Brass can list off dozens of historical events in detail without batting an eye but has to count his fingers to figure out how far apart the events are. His interest is history and sociology and everything else falls by the wayside 100. Are any of your characters queer?

28. How much does your character giggle? Percy doesn't giggle as much as he bursts out laughing, even after all he’s been through. It's one of the things that got Yeva obsessed with him. He’d never been around such joyous laughter and he drank that shit UP.

17. How petty is your character? Kel is less petty, more punch you in the face. She does hold a grudge tho so she will get whatever payback she can get

Who is your token cis, straight, (optional: white) male?: While I dont have a canon sexuality for several of my characters, the one that stands out as cis het is Alibor Shourac.I thought about having him be gay but i like him better as an old cis het dragonborn. Fully just trying to relive his glory days of highschool football adventuring.

🏵 which OC have you had the longest, what inspired them?

This one seems simple but is surprisingly difficult for me, lol. My first proper OCs that I actually developed were in high school, for a sci-fi story about this specialized spaceship team who did weird, off-the-books operations. They weren't really inspired by much other than "what roles do I need to fill?" and "what are some key traits and conflicts that would make this person interesting in this role?" That story was called Mission Starhopper, and I had legit forgotten it existed until now, lol.

🌷 is there a lesson for the readers in your WIP?

Most of my stuff has loose themes, usually based around "do good recklessly." (Maybe too recklessly, lol). I tend to pick a really basic, broad idea that fits with the story I'm telling to just keep in mind - I don't really lean into it, I'm not big into tons of thematic metaphors and whatnot in my personal writing, but it helps give a bit of a through line to the story :-)

Wohoo, you guys don't know how happy I am to be done with her. The colour palette was my main problem.

A little bit of info about her is under the cut.

One of the Star Seekers left in storage 

was found by an old femme that brought her online by accident and then took her in

Lived an isolated live with Ma’am (the old femme), who taught her some things she learned from organics

One of the things was sewing

Occasionally, there would be other Cybertronians coming by, but mostly to buy something and then leave

Decided that being a seamstress is more fun than what she was made for and started doing it as a profession

Has a knack for finding shiny things

also collects them

Easily distracted by shiny or interesting things, people, etc.

especially if they are pretty

Still as naive as the day Ma’am found her

Sireously, you could lay out a trail of shiny rocks leading to a big cardboard box propped up with a stick, and she would still fall for it

At one point, Starhopper decides to venture out into the galaxy in the hopes of finding other Star Seekers

Gets distracted halfway through the journey by something shiny and ends up working as a seamstress on a planet for a while, before continuing her journey → Working as a freelancer seamstress becomes her main source of income

Also meets a weird crew of Cybertronians and stays on their ship for a while. (Was almost adopted by the captain, but his minibot friend got in between.)

Calls Ma’am regularly to tell her about her journey

also to show off the collection of shiny things she found or the newest project she’s working on

those you do when you’re balancing on your toes and hitting the ground with your heels

That’s where her name comes from. Ma’am gave it to her, after seeing her interest in stars and the small hops she does 

Some nicknames are: Hop, Magpie, Maggy

Starhopper is a sweet thing through and through. Often helping others before thinking about herself and making sure they are alright, before checking if she herself is okay.

How her journey started:

Ma’am told Starhopper a little bit of how there might be others like her. She never specifically tells Hop where she found her, but she hints that she isn’t the only one with her frame type.

After hearing that, Starhopper decides to pack her things and go on a search for her missing “siblings”. Despite her not knowing where to start looking.

The old femme gives Starhopper a map of the galaxy to help her navigate at least a little bit, but she knows that the chances of her ward finding another one like her are very slim. 

Still, she doesn’t stop Starhopper from going on her journey. 

The only thing she asks for is that her ward calls her every now and then. (Ma’am mostly wants to make sure that Starhopper doesn’t manage to land in a dangerous situation, when she isn’t there to get her out of it.)

If she ever found another Star Seeker, she would probably start hopping excitedly, before rushing over to them for a hug.

Born to an enclave of liir’aalu who, like many, decided to leave their home planet of Avuura and explore the wider universe, Hralia took an interest in engineering (as liir’aalu often do due to their high intelligence and ultrasonic capabilities allowing them to detect and pinpoint mechanical faults), leading to her finding a job as a shuttle technician on the frontier world of Pronova I via nonhuman exchange program. 

Though quick-thinking, resourceful, and unfailingly diligent in her duties, Hralia can be somewhat touchy and high-strung; this is in part because she's something of a self-made outcast among the normally-communal liir’aalu on account of her status as one of the Arava, or "the silenced ones", survivors of an upper-respiratory illness among liir’aalu that does damage to the soft tissue of the flute-like horns that they use for vocalizations. Though treated with utmost care and compassion by their brethren, Arava are often nevertheless looked upon with pity and a sense of 'loss' owing to the damage the disease can do and the perception that it robs them of their voices—something that can be compensated for with prosthesis, in Hralia's case.

The first character I created for the aforementioned shared setting of Starhopper! She represents a slightly different side of things, being one of numerous sophont alien species.
