France has reached a “tipping point” on drug-related violence, the country’s hardline interior minister warned on Friday, after hundreds of people took part in a massive shoot-out.

The gunfight, which left a teenager fighting for his life and four others seriously wounded, erupted overnight in the western city of Poitiers.

Police intervened at around 10.45pm after shots were fired outside a restaurant in the Couronneries district of the city and found the first casualty on the ground.

Treated for a bullet wound to the head, the 15-year-old was hospitalised in a state of absolute emergency, with a life-threatening prognosis, said a police source. A local witness said the teenager was a customer caught in the crossfire.

According to the same source, two other teenagers were shot, one in the shoulder and the other in the ankle, and were treated by the emergency services. Around ten 22-calibre shells were found on the ground by the investigators.

Bruno Retailleau, the French interior minister said: “What started as a shooting at a restaurant ended up in a fight between rival gangs that involved several hundred people. I’m told by the local (state) prefect that four to six hundred people were involved.”

Other police sources, cited by French media, claimed the number involved was far lower, at 50 to 60 people.

‘General mobilisation or Mexicanisation of France’

Mr Retailleau was due to travel later on Friday to the northwestern city of Rennes, where a five-year-old child was also between life and death after being shot in the head in another shootout on Saturday related to drug trafficking.

He said: “These shootings are not happening in South America, they’re happening in Rennes and Poitiers.

“We are at a tipping point and the choice is between a general mobilisation or the Mexicanisation of the country.”

The violence follows a recent hard-hitting French senatorial report, which warned that the country was “submerged” by drug dealing and that President Emmanuel Macron’s response was “meagre” and “not up to the task”.

It states: “Contrary to the cliché that drug trafficking is the preserve of ‘no-go zones’ stretching from the northern suburbs of Marseille to ‘crack hill’ in Paris, and perhaps a few festivals, drug dealing has spread to medium-sized and even small towns and rural areas.”

Bigger slice of drugs business

With cocaine flooding France from South America, consumption on the rise and historic bastions like Marseille saturated, organised crime is fanning out to the provinces in search of a bigger slice of an annual drugs business of between €3 billion (£2.5 bn) to €6 billion (£5 bn).

Ofast, the French anti-drugs agency, warned: “From Verdun to Valence, a number of sensitive neighbourhoods in medium-sized towns have been the scene of armed clashes.”

They’ve also added that “smaller urban areas” are no longer spared “kidnappings, violence and even murder”.

Drug-trafficking a ‘national cause’

Mr Retailleau has called for the fight against drug trafficking to become “a national cause” similar to that against terrorism.

He wants the government to take up some of the senatorial report proposals such as the creation of a status for repentant drug traffickers and a dedicated national drugs prosecutor’s office.

“We are going to set up a ‘task force’ to break up the ecosystem’ of drug trafficking,” he said on Friday, stressing the importance of a “global strategy” to try to curb the phenomenon.

Increasing youth violence

There is rising public concern over the issue of youth violence, often drug-related.

In Marseille, where a record 49 murders were committed last year, prosecutors warn that teenagers are increasingly involved in drug battles involving assault rifles and handguns, and even hit “low-cost” jobs.

Two rival gangs – DZ Mafia and Yoda – are together blamed for most of the killings that have rocked the French port city of 860,000 people.

Last month, a 15-year-old boy, apparently on his way to carry out a hit on behalf of DZ, was cornered by rivals, stabbed at least 50 times and then set on fire while he was still alive.

Two days later, another 14-year-old hired to avenge his killing, instead shot dead Nessim Ramdane, a part-time driver for the taxi app Bolt.

Mr Retailleau is due to travel to Marseille next Friday with Didier Migaud, the justice minister, to announce new measures.

PJ desmantela rede internacional de tráfico de cocaína e detém três portugueses

A Polícia Judiciária (PJ) deteve em Lisboa três portugueses suspeitos de tráfico internacional de cocaína, um deles o alegado cabecilha da rede, numa investigação coordenada com as autoridades francesas que começou no início de 2022.

Em comunicado, a PJ adianta que em conjunto com o Office Anti-Stupéfiants (OFAST) francês levou a cabo a operação 'Origami' que desarticulou uma organização internacional de tráfico de cocaína "que se dedicava reiteradamente à introdução de elevadas quantidades de cocaína, provenientes nomeadamente do Brasil, no continente europeu”.

Através da colaboração das autoridades dos dois países foram identificadas e controladas em França três situações de transporte de cocaína dissimulada no casco de navios, adiantou a PJ.

“Na prossecução da investigação desenvolvida em França e Portugal, apoiada por trabalho de recolha e pesquisa de matéria probatória e em intensa atividade policial, foi possível identificar e deter três pessoas de nacionalidade portuguesa no âmbito do cumprimento de Mandados de Detenção Europeu”, acrescenta a nota da Unidade Nacional de Combate ao Tráfico de Estupefacientes (UNCTE).

Durante a investigação, que culminou com a detenção dos suspeitos, foram desenvolvidas e executadas diversas diligências que já tinham permitido apreender cerca de 288 quilos de cocaína, refere a PJ.

No decurso do cumprimento dos mandados de busca realizados durante o dia de hoje foram apreendidos cerca de 125.000 euros.

A investigação prossegue titulada pelo Departamento de Investigação e Ação Penal (DIAP) da Amadora com a finalidade de identificar e deter outros presumíveis autores ou elementos do grupo.

Os detidos serão agora presentes no Tribunal da Relação de Lisboa e de Évora para primeiro interrogatório judicial e aplicação das medidas de coação.

          there was still a lot of time left before opening night, but we all know seulbi is not the type to procrastinate. after landing a the lead role in the spring musicale ( as expected of the talented young girl ), she took extra time out of her day to practice her vocals in the music room. while it’s important to prioritize and not spend ALL of her energy on theater stuff, she found herself doing that anyway. it’s easy to get lost in her work when she’s practicing, so seulbi didn’t even notice the door opening and someone else in the room until she was finished singing. ❛ what the---- how l o n g have you been standing there ?? ❜

          Here is a concept which he nevers becomes sick of ; jest. Full of liveliness and the possibilities of humor are just endless -- he’s relishing all type of jokes, even if they are labelled as wrong (in the sense of black humor) or nasty (when they are slightly not safe to speak of around children, well... he must admit, anything with such topic has got to be his favorite), and when they are silly, witless, aimless. Long story short ----- he likes joking. If there is a phrase or longer which can cause someone to titter even the slightest then it is welcomed and accepted delightfully into his world -- he, around his friends, behaves at time as if he is completely and entirely dense, anserine. It is not difficult (to say the least) to identify that doltish conduct which almost makes him appear mindless, foolish, and if perhaps that may be a first encounter and impression of the young lad then dupe and ignorant, which he sometimes may genuinely be. He’s laughing as expected despite the lack of depth or deeper meaning in the joke-- jocular demeanor is often found between these two young souls and it seems as if nothing other than behaving tomfoolery makes them keen ; boys are boys, in the end ------ they are filled with nothing but vainess and materialism, visual creatures in love with their hand most of the time, joking regarding anything silly or ‘dirty’ or what ever ... they are wild and loud and carefree, regardles of their kind hearts which might feasibly be their most enchanting points. Such attributes can definitely be vexating most of the time albeit also quite charming, in several occasions. And right now when the two of them wear grins bigger than their lips can bear and as spirited youngish chortles emit their lips they are two lively youngings having a good time, joking and mocking and laughing with one another about what ever in the world comes to their premature minds. Two boys enjoying themselves --- as simple as that.

Fem en fredag: Sömnigt

Jag har inbyggd väcckarklocka, både tillgott och ont, klockan 5.00 varje dag….. Sällan jag använder väckerklocka, ofast då jag skapå tävling, för säkerhets skull, men jag vaken vid min vanliga tid i alla fall. Sällan faktiskt, jag är noga med sömnen ,sen gillar jag att läsa lite ur min bok om jag håler på med för tillfället innan jag slocknar, tillsammas med katter och en hund. 'cause this is what @ofaster has been looking for !

She has woken up early and so also did her daughter, the little girl is happily jumping and running around the house due to the happiness she feels --- because it is a special day and she can’t wait to see her favorite oppa again. Daeun has lost counts of how many times Dabin has asked her when she’d be able to see Kiki again, and she couldn’t he more excited at the moment. 

And Daeun loves seeing her baby like that, she loves how full of light she is whenever she’s about to meet her godfather, he has such a great effect on the little girl that it becomes contagious and makes the mother feel happy and full of joy as well. What could she do, her daughter’s smile always wins her over and she can’t help but do anything the girl asks her to --- but it’s not like she’d ever deny the visit of Kinam or refuse his invitations.

She would admit that she’s lucky, for having someone so attentive and loving like the male to take care of Dabin like she was his own daughter, for looking after the little girl and making sure the two of them are safe and healthy. He was the perfect person for that and she was happy her husband had such a great friend like him.

“Are you ready, Binbin? Oppa might be here soon,” the woman asks her daughter while preparing the baby’s bag, filling it with extra clothes in case she gets the one’s she’s wearing dirty, some medicine in case she gets hurt or sick, cookies in case she gets hungry, a water bottle in case she gets thirsty, everything she could need if anything happened.
