But the payout from the cover up had helped the metalhead buy himself a motorhome which the pair were currently inside of as he set the mugs down on the table and slid down across from her. "I know I still don't get," he gestured vaguely in the air, "everything, but we can't allow the past to control us, but, I'm here to listen, maybe talking about what you did will help?"

┊ ┊ ┊ ┊ ♥︎ . *. ⋆ FOR A MOMENT, he considered getting up and returning to the couch downstairs , joining his sisters in watching a new sci-fi movie that nancy had bought at the video store. however , there was a note of TENTATIVENESS in el's voice , almost of fear , when the three words were breathed out in no more than a whisper. in that moment , he remembered some wise words of his mother , that sometimes in life you'd have to face making choices that meant an outcome of self-preservation or the preservation of your relationships with other people.

his whole life mike tried to be accommodating , to make the latter result occur AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE over the former. in fact , his entire friendship with el was fostered in the choice he made as a twelve-year-old to help her. sure , learning about who she was may have meant risking the preservation of his current connections , but through it all , he fostered a new one , one that he wouldn't trade for ANYTHING.

his sisters could wait. his own selfish desire to watch a stupid movie could wait. el was much more important.

he took a seat next to her on his bed , reaching a COMFORTING HAND out to place on her thigh. ❝ hey , i'm not going anywhere. i'll stay for as long as you need me to , okay ... ? ❞
