After beating Lies of P Overture, I have come to one extremely important realization about Simon Manus.

That man really wants to fuck Arlecchino. Oh, he finds Arlecchino unique because he's an awakened puppet and he wants to study him? Alright. Understandable. Arlecchino already got busted up by Lea, just collect what's left and hook him up to an ergo battery for interrogation, easy peasy. But no. Simon had Arlecchino fully rebuilt. Not just rebuilt, but enhanced. When Lea first fought Arlecchino, he likely just had a standard, run of the mill puppet body and it got completely trashed. But when we see him in Overture? Simon had Arlecchino outfitted with a fully custom built body. A 10+ feet tall, gold plated, synesthetic skin face with slicked back hair, goddamn metal Salvador Dali mustached Adonis. And a tailor made white fur coat.

Look at this, Simon. There is NO heterosexual explanation for this if all you wanted was to just "research" Arlecchino. Then Arlecchino escapes (seriously Simon what did you think would happen you gave him personalized weapons and built in sword arms and buzzsaws), kills a ton of Simon's men, only to get destroyed again by Lea and P. So Simon collects Arlecchino and rebuilds him again, although this time using a standard issue puppet body (at least he learned SOME lessons). Only for Arlecchino to once again escape and wreck havoc on the Isle of Alchemists before getting destroyed once again, likely by Laxasia. So you'd reckon alright, that's it. No more chances, finish him off? NO!! Simon spares Arlecchino AGAIN and instead just seals him away in the final trinity room! We have well past the point of research and fascination my man, just admit you want to bang the murder puppet.

And the thing is, shitposting aside, it actually kinda works. Simon's whole deal is that he can read people's minds, and how people hiding how they truly felt fucked him up and gave him a bunch of complexes. Meanwhile Arlecchino is someone that is 100% honest and blunt. He wears his murderous intentions on his sleeves and is fully open about who he is and what he wants. Despite being a monstrous murderer, someone like Simon that is obsessed with Truth would be drawn to someone that is willingly an open book with nothing to hide. I can easily see Simon taking frequent visits to Arlecchino's trinity room to talk about philosophy and finding Arlecchino's views on life and humanity interesting. Of course, Arlecchino wants nothing to do with the Alchemists and their goals, he finds them boring. Meanwhile Simon holds all the power, Arlecchino is literally at his mercy in the trinity room. This is a Grade A toxic ass relationship.

Lea, Sophia and the Rose State tragedy

I was trying to think about what sort of relationship Lea had with Sophia, who was she, aside from being Carlo and Romeo’s teacher and the Legendary Stalker, a title she never wanted?

It’s very sad that we don’t get much information about the sisters’ relationship in the game.

The most we get is from the painting of the Monad family, where everyone seems to be on good terms. But Lea never mentions Sophia, and Sophia only mentions Lea once, in her diary, when she talks about Carlo’s passing.

This got me thinking about two things.

The first is that maybe after Lea broke ties with the Monad family, she and Sophia were no longer on the best terms.

I believe Lea had more issues with Valentinus, and certainly a lot of complex feelings. It’s clear from the letter she gave him that she truly loved the man who raised her, but she couldn’t agree with all the terrible things the alchemists were doing.

And while I think she had a good relationship with Sophia, perhaps as they grew older, they started to drift apart. Not in terms of ideology, more in focus. Lea is clearly a fighter, so she was probably more focused on her training, while Sophia was deeply involved with the work at the Charity House and had all the listener stuff going on. And perhaps because Valentinus’s alchemical work would be her legacy, Sophia didn’t completely stayed away from that.

So maybe Lea was sad and disappointed that Sophia didn’t cut ties with the family too. Not really resentful, exactly, but wishing she didn’t had to be involved in all of that, even if it was indirectly.

And Sophia doesn’t seem like the type to argue or push back strongly. So when Lea left, Sophia may have given her all the time and space in the world, and Lea might have taken that as her way of saying they were officially strangers now.

That leads me to the second thought: When did the attack on the Rose State happen, and why wasn’t Lea worried about Sophia or her step-parents?

At first, I thought the massacre occurred in the past and Lea had somehow moved on. But that doesn’t seem right, neither she nor Romeo would have let such a tragedy go unanswered.

It’s worth noting that Rosaura mentions she wants to go to the Rose State, but once she’s at the lighthouse, she says she won’t anymore because the place is now full of sadness.

This likely means that when Rosaura was kidnapped, the Rose State was still “okay.” So the massacre must have happened while she was imprisoned by Markiona, fairly recently, considering Rosaura is still intact, not dismantled or repurposed.

So before Romeo’s disappearance, the Rose State was still standing, albeit struggling with the petrification disease. Then the alchemists unleashed their monster and accelerated the carcass transformation, leading to the tragedy.

Sophia was kidnapped by Simon before or during the incident. Valentinus and Isabelle were likely killed with the others.

I don’t know if Arlecchino was fully responsible for the massacre, but I believe Romeo’s kidnapping and the Rose State incident happened around the same time.

The blood at the Rose State is fresh, and the portraits of the children on the walls have been vandalized in disturbing ways. The candles that the “blood artist” loved are there, too. Clearly, Arlecchino had his fun.

So by the time Lea learned Romeo had been taken to the Rose State, she was already fearing the worst. But Romeo was still alive. She knew it, because what better way to torture her than to give her hope?

When she and P arrive at the Charity House, she stays at the entrance. She’s barely holding on, physically and emotionally, and her eyesight is failing. I’m not saying she didn’t notice the blood and bodies, but she was struggling. Even if she wanted to help more people, she probably had just enough energy left to save Romeo before her body gave out.

She hoped for the best for Sophia, Valentinus, and Isabelle, but she was in a hurry. That urgency was only worsened when she saw Arlecchino’s “art.”

Unlike P, she likely had direct access to the garden, so she could get there faster. Plus, her worst fear had taken hold, she was about to lose another apprentice, her last one, and break the oath she made to Carlo. She probably forced herself into tunnel vision; if she let herself feel or get distracted, she might not have made it in time.

So yeah, I don’t think anyone could have prevented the massacre at the Rose State. And I don’t think Lea didn’t care, she simply could only do so much in her condition, and Romeo was the one she had a chance to save.

Even if she had broken ties with the Monad family, I think she still hoped her sister was okay. She likely prayed internally that Sophia had escaped unscathed.

I wish the game gave us more content about the two sisters and their relationship. But for now, it’ll have to come from our imagination and our interpretation of the small details we’re given.

This is very self indulgent and this is just me yapping and I’m not sure if I missed any details,  but I really needed to get this out, but I might be wrong about some details! ^^’

Native Americans Hurt by Federal Health Cuts, Despite RFK Jr.’s Promises of Protection

WINDOW ROCK, Ariz. — Navajo Nation leaders took turns talking with the U.S. government’s top health official as they hiked along a sandstone ridge overlooking their rural, high-desert town before the morning sun grew too hot. Although the official board has only been announced very recently, the association released its first statement on the objectives of the establishment of TOSAA in March 2024. Essentially, the main purpose is to gather Thai actors in any mediums such as feature films, documentaries, dramas or series with a common goal of creating professional standards for actors, facilitate an environment for exchange and development and be one of the driving forces that pushes Thai industry to the global standard.

Throughout the year of 2024, TOSAA hosted their series Monologue talks and roundtables between actors, similar to the format of Variety's Actors on Actors and The Hollywood Reporter's Roundtable.

Nat and Nonkul are actually members of Film Subcommittee for Thailand Creative Culture Agency which is an agency established by Thailand's National Soft Power Strategy Committee. (Bonus fun fact: Actor Tong Thanayut Thakoonauttaya, more known to QL fans for his roles in Kinnporsche, Man Suang, Tharntype... is actually a member of the Series Subcommittee of THACCA)

Here's an excerpt from a Deadline article detailing some of THACCA's plans.

Inspired by organizations such as Korea’s KOCCA, Taiwan’s TAICCA and France’s CNC, THACCA is described as an organization that “oversees strategic collaboration between the government and private sectors to create income and opportunities for the Thai people through soft power by using its cultural industries as a powerful tool.” It also oversees Thai creative industries including music, publishing, sports, games, design, fashion and food.  While total budget was not mentioned, THACCA is spending spending some $6.7M on Thai films, series, docs and animation in 2024-2025, investing in around 30-40 projects, and also plans to launch a new international film festival and T-Expo showcase for Thai content. A further $5.25M is being spent on reskilling the workforce. Longer term, there are plans to launch a Thailand Film Council, invest more in local productions and international co-productions, as well as promote Thai content overseas. Thailand’s government is also planning to establish Media Business Economic Zones, with Pattaya mentioned as a location, and expand cinema circuits in rural areas. 

So at the same time that THACCA was being worked on for its pilot programmes in 2024, Nat and Nonkul were already gathering their actors friends to come together and plan the establishment of TOSAA (Thai On-Screen Actors Association).

I did wonder if this association would be similar to the American Screen Actors Guild. And I found in this article with Meng Chaiwat Chartsuriyakiat that the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike for fair wages was indeed one of the reasons that sparked the actors to come together to push for on-screen standards for Thai media.
