yugi IS a better duelist than atem. some of you know this and are correct, but many people out there are blind to the truth.

My Canon OTP:

very funny to me that there are literally no canon ships in yugioh. takahashi was like "ok i'm gonna set up the barebones for some ships" and then he just. never came back to them ever. the peachshipping scene in duelist kingdom is so cute and then it just never happens again. iconic. in my mind puzzle is canon tho so i'll go w/ that <3

it's still puzzle! they're everything 2 me. in theory i like lots of other ygo ships but i only ever actually read or care about puzzle sorry

island mode is so funny actually, komaeda is a horrible guy to date. anywhere you take him there's like a 50/50 chance of him being like. god this sucks i thought you liked me but i guess you hate me goodbye forever. and then hinata shakes it off and goes out with him again. over and over. obsessed with the unpredictability of this man. he is SO bitchy and high maintenance and yet we cannot stay away

What makes me sad about them:

komaeda's attitude change post-final dead room is really both funny and very sad to play. one day he's your insane bestie who loves you so much and the next day he's like actually i hate you, you are a worthless little worm with no talent and i can't fucking stand being in the same room with you. :((((((((( bestie don't say that

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:

you can't make komaeda normal. please god you cannot do that to him. i'm so utterly obsessed with everything that's wrong with him that if you try to fix him, i will simply not read it

Things I look for in fanfic:

i really like it when fic writers are able to turn the funny repeated voice lines like "THAT'S WRONG!!!!" or "I AGREE WITH THAT!" into plot-relevant and emotionally affecting moments

tbh i don't think komaeda could be with anyone else. hinata theoretically could go out w/ other characters, esp chiaki, but i wouldn't really care. hinanami is far too normal for me, it's the insanity of komaeda that really draws me in, so hinata could definitely go out w/ nanami, i simply would not read it or care about it

My happily ever after for them:

i guess they cure komaeda's cancer and get him to a more functional but still insane mental state and then they hang out and bother each other forever. they get married someday and komaeda still says the usual komaeda shit about "wow i'm so happy right now, i wonder who's going to die because of this :)"

Why I can't hate Atem:

I've seen a lot lately about how Atem is actually the evil one in YGO DM and how Thief Bakura and Marik are not in the wrong and they all seem to forget some points.

Bakura's village was destroyed not by Atem, but by Atem's family. Atem's uncle did that without the express permission of Atem's father and the young Atem, who by modern standards we would consider a child king, inherited the situation.

A horrible, horrible situation where if it matches up to historical versions of tomb robber towns in Egypt, probably happened because Kul Elna had been tomb BUILDERS and had thier funding cut so they had to turn to crime.

However, getting rid of the Millennium Items at that point would not have been possible. They were needed to stop other countries invading Egypt and prevent a war like the one that had raged when Atem was a baby. It was literally only the existence of the items that stopped Egypt being wiped out.

Not only that but it's not the modern Era democracy was not really a thing, and there were no other options for the throne. Atem couldn't just stand down or declare democracy without the country falling into chaos. They would have looked weak to the world, and been invaded.

Is what happened to Kul Elna horrible? Yes.

Should there have been recognition that what was done was wrong and some attempt to get those souls thier rightful afterlife? Yes.

Do I recognize that if Bakura had not gone murder happy, he could have been the hero in a different version of the story? Yes.

Should Bakura have worked with Atem to achieve some form of attempt to save the souls of his people, instead on invading the palace with the sarcophagus and mummy of Atem's father, making him the bad guy in Atem's eyes and ensuring that Atem probably wouldn't listen? Yes.

Was attacking the citizens of Egypt who had nothing to do with what its government had done OK? No.

As for Marik, yes, the situation of the Tomb Keepers is horrible, but not only would that have been set up after Atem's death, so he would have not been responsible for what was happening. Plus what rules and regulations were in place would have changed over the thousands of years so how much of what we see was because of changes and fanatics?

Not to mention, the Tomb Keeper tribe was wiping themselves out.

No one can go aboveground? How are you guys getting new dna in the families and staying sane? How did you get new women to join the tribe and agree to stay below ground forever?

They wouldn't have been managing it with enough of them. Eventually they would have died out.

Marik is the product of a shit situation that was years in the making, but again, attacking innocent people because your pissed off is not OK. He didn't just target the Pharaoh, he hurt his friends, family and anyone even remotely attached to him.

That is not OK.

Again, I feel bad for him. He was clearly not the correct choice for the role of leader of the tribe, but he was being forced into that position by his own father.

I have many thoughts on how much I want to drop kick Marik's father, but I won't blame Atem for something that AGAIN he did not create.

You are all entitled to your thoughts on the matter, I just felt I needed to get my thoughts down on paper.

Yes, Bakura and Marik were victims. They used that as an excuse to hurt people. From what I can see Atem is also a victim of his uncle's and father's actions and honestly honestly? He did the same in the early manga/anime though he didn't know why.

But I'd have paid good money to see him get to the afterlife and rip them a new one. Possibly with Bakura backing him up.

It’s such an original & brilliant story, the acting is superb & heartfelt. Such a good comedy. I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s a good thing I watch The Voice cuz it came on after it & that made me wanna check it out XD!

No piece of classical music has come to being as perfect as that song in terms of taking me on an emotional rollercoaster. I love songs that can take me on a journey. But if I had to pick a MODERN song, I would say it’s a 3 way tie (all sung by Takanori Nishikawa) “Vestige” by T.M. Revolution, & “WE aRE” + “Howling” by Abingdon Boys School. How I feel about this character: I love Lillie!
