The Marauders: Pranks!
(in no particular order)
31st October, 1971 (First Year): the idiots somehow managed to get Peeves on their side and messed with the feast. Additives to the food had the entire castle running towards the bathrooms. The pipes were clogged for weeks afterwards. They served detention for the entirety of the duration.
31st January, 1973 (Second Year): Sirius tricked the gargoyle that protected the headmaster's study, got into his library and took several rare tomes. Dumbledore only realised when Sirius marched into his office two weeks later and dropped 14 books onto his table, announcing, "I'll be borrowing your books frequently, thank you." Just for the sheer talent of getting through his protective spells, Dumbledore allowed him to do so. However, detention of two weeks was handed out for breaking and entering.
23rd September, 1976 (Sixth Year): everyone woke up to see that the 26ft bronze dragon statue atop the fountain in the courtyard vanished in the middle of the night. No-one has seen it since. Nobody knows where it is. However, every time James or Sirius pass by the fountain, a small smirk curves over their lips. On another (completely unrelated, of course) note, James has an exquisite new pen, made of bronze and covered in a beautiful, intricate dragon motif.
13 December, 1974 (Fourth Year): the entire castle just. Floated up into the air without a warning. Exactly 77 feet off the ground for 77 minutes. It took all four of them three months to hand carve runes into the perimeter of the castle, and before that it took all of August for Sirius to come up with the right rune sequence that would stick a timer to the magic. They didn't serve detention, only because the rune sequence was such a stroke of genius— fourth year students barely knew how to use single runes in magic, let alone sequences long enough to cover a perimeter.
12th May, 1977 (Sixth Year): any time someone touched a goblet, said goblet would turn into purple butterflies. Very pretty, but very frustrating when all you wanted was a drink after a hot day. It turned out that they had mixed a transfigurative potion into the dishwashing water, and McGonagall made James write a paper about his invention. Technically, he earned his Potions mastery before he got his N.E.W.T. results.
4th February, 1976 (Fifth Year): a vicious storm cloud hung over Hogwarts starting from the 4th all the way till the full moon, making it rain sleet and hail non-stop, 24 hours a day. Everything came to a standstill, including Quidditch (James had to be persuaded for this one). Under the pretense of a month-long detention, McGonagall and Flitwick sat Sirius and James down and had them explain the thought process that went into the spellwork— weather magic not only required obscene amounts of raw power, but the steps as well were notoriously difficult to execute.
21st December, 1977 (Seventh Year): at exactly 23 minutes after eleven at night, the entire castle got wrapped up in huge, terrifying thorny branches. They crawled through the hallways, spilled through windows, blocked the doors and crept over the suits of armour. Huge roses— about two feet in diameter— bloomed all over the castle, dark haunting pink in colour. Waking up in the morning was quite a shock for people when they found out the vines had grown literally everywhere and taken over the dorm rooms. The inspiration was Disney's animated Sleeping Beauty, and Flitwick and Babbling both gave the Marauders twenty-five points each for the creativity. They did serve four months of detention, though.

1922 "Hobbit House" is a 9 unit apt. complex in Culver City, CA. The 10bd, 9ba, 10, 980 sq ft residence was designed by 1940s Disney artist Lawrence Joseph. There are 5 buildings and current leases are lower than market value so there's the opportunity to increase them when they expire. $1.95m.
It's also an historical monument. So the original owners did live here, according to the plaque.
Another of the 5 buildings on the property. There's also a water feature and it looks like this building needs work.
It's nice, but the water looks green. Looks like it needs some refreshing and landscaping.
Johnson's granddaughter lived here and is selling it. It's cute. Look at the floor. A Google search suggests that it was once a restaurant. This looks like a bar, but it's probably a kitchen now.
So, I would imagine that the new owner could live in one of the units, if they're not all rented. This is a nice big bedroom with lots of built-ins.
Wow, it hasn't been well-cared for. What's happening here? So, it definitely needs work.
This bedroom is in good condition. It must be freshly painted.
One of the other units. Gee, the roof is in need of replacing. They probably all do.
This is nice, though. So many built-ins and those floors.
Interesting dining room.
I found photos of the units when they were for rent. This one has a tiny kitchen.
But, it has a cute little built-in table and benches.
This is the bedroom. If you live here you don't need much furniture, b/c it's already here, and you can't move it.
It even has a built-in bed and nightstands.
This bathroom is in better condition than the one in the other unit.
This is the largest home on the property.
The living room facing the windows out front. It even has built-in sofas and tons of shelving and storage.
This must be the dining area of the main room.
It has a large galley kitchen.
Someone painted over the upper cabinet, put some sort of metal on the doors, and it's all been propped up by a stick.
This bedroom also has a built-in bed, dresser, and nightstands. Looks like a large closet in the wall.
This unit has 2 bedrooms. Look at the big built-in bureau and vanity table.
Small bath.
Here you can see the 5 buildings and it looks out of place in the surrounding area. There's parking for 9 cars and it's on a .25 acre lot.

The Creator needs help
I claim to know s*it about canon genshin impact Teyvat lore or how things work in it. I just wrote something that was on my mind at 2 AM.
~~~~
Teyvat was crying...
No, it wasn't any ordinary rainy day no.
Not only was water falling down from the skies above in the form of tears, hail and snow also came down along with powerful winds in places that rouse concern in humanity and other forms of life alike.
Thin layers of snow covered parts of the smeltering deserts of sumeru, rain poured down in forever freezing shnesnaya, pillars of ice formed in the waterfalls of watatsumi island in inazuma and such other incidents wreaked havoc all around the land of Teyvat.
These disasters drove away almost all creatures of nature into hiding and cursed all yields to be near nonexistent due to the extreme conditions, leading to a landwide food shortage and miserable people. Even vision holders report feeling less elemental energy from their visions than before.
Mr. Zhongli, or formerly known as Morax or Rex Lapis, sat at Third-Round Knockout on a rare good day drinking tea as he watched the dark clouds over the sea creep closer to Liyue Harbor. He sighs, as he already figures that the weather would one again cut his visit short.
Just as he brought this tea cup to his lips to take another sip, his surroundings changed. He was no longer drinking tea he was standing inside a domain of sorts. Where ever he looked, he couldn't see an end to the limitless space.
He wasn't alone though, six others, who he realized were the other archons and people of the highest authority of each nation, were here as well. And from the looks of things, they were just as perplexed as he was.
Since all of them were brought here, it could only mean, a being higher than them have summoned them for a purpose.
"Be not afraid."
A voice spoke, which drew everyone's attention to them.
A figure floated by their lonesome in place with a calm and understanding expression as they gestured at the seven of them. The figure was like a glowing humanoid lamp, glowing brightly with no distinguishable features whatsoever, except a horizontal golden line at their throat that seemed to extend all the way around their neck.
As if their head had been cleanly sliced off...
Wait... He recognized such featured being described somewhere. An ancient parchment that spoke of a deity that was the purest and highest being in all of Teyvat. A being whose purity was reflected on how others would perceive them, for they lost their real body and a line as tough drawn with gold wrapping around their neck symbolizing their sacrifice to the life on Teyvat.
That being being the Creator...
The moment Zhongli realized who was talking to them, he sank down on one knee. Others following suit as they too realized the same thing as he did.
"Be not afraid... I am not here to neither cast judgement nor punishment." Their voice spoke, as though it was coming from everywhere at one. From behind the seven, from above, from inside their craniums. It would of felt almost overwhelming, had they been afraid, but none were.
"Your excellency... why have you summoned us to appear in your presence, if not for a punishment?" Zhongli hears one of the seven ask, as the same question runs in his head.
That was an excellent question. Though many of the Archons have done everything in their power to fulfill their duties as assigned, their disastrous and war filled past and even current lives, leave no room to doubt they too were not above desire.
The same desire that plaques Teyvat and every other being on it. Driving them to satisfy their own desires
to survive
to live
to build
to control
to destroy...
The Archons carry their sins for they are forbidden to forget them, it would be shameful to do so.
What reason are they here?
"My children... heed my words, for I am afraid time is running out." The creator spoke, their hands gently clenched in front of them, without a single waver in their tone as they continued.
"I was afraid that the day when the balance of Teyvat would be disrupted would come, but the severity of this disruption is far too severe. I can no longer watch as the creations I gifted life needlessly suffer." They floated closer to the kneeling seven as they pleaded.
"I beg of you my children, help end this misery that plaques Teyvat."
The Creators plead rang in their ears as giant bells as they looked up at their Creator, heads full of questions.
The Creator requests their assistance?
"Your grace, we do not know the causes of the anomalies on Teyvat, therefore we are powerless to help even our own nations. What can we possibly do to help?" Another Archons spoke.
"To understand our current obstacle, you must understand how Teyvat came to be." They spoke as, with a flick of their wrist, a mist like substance filled the surrounding space. Creating images aiding the Creators storytelling.
"As you are already aware, I, the Creator, was born of and egg and used the shell of said egg to create Teyvat, but that is not all." The Archons watched intently as images formed before their eyes one after another, telling a history never told before.
"After I was born, I wandered among the stars, awaiting for a purpose for my own creation. As time passed, a sudden desire willed me to use my given power for something, so I returned to my first ever home and used it's eggshell to house a new world in another galaxy.
I shed tears to form the seas, I took pieces of my body to create land, I blew air to form the atmosphere... I lent the sun and the moon to occupy the new lands lonely existence...
however... I wasn't satisfied...
what use does a world offer if no one is there to appreciate its beauty?"
The loyal Archons remained on their knees, listening to the tale of creation and birth of the land they call home. Seems as though even the most purest of beings in Teyvat cannot escape the curse of desire.
"So with the last of my strength, I gave up one of my hearts and divided it to millions and millions of pieces and scattered them all around the land and sea to form life. Life capable of growth, capable of feeling emotions and capable of death on the world I call Teyvat.
As a final gift, I gave up a fraction of my power and formed the seven elements. To make sure these gifts are not used wrongfully, I also created Celestia to act as guardians of Teyvat, the elemental energy and its happenings."
Zhongli stood silent in fascination of the history told. Their Creator really was just as benevolent as described in the ancient parchment he read oh so long ago. Even if their intention for Celestia was different from how things currently stand, they were thinking about their creations' well being. How could he disrespect his own creator so severely as to forget them? How could he?
"However...." The Creator continued.
"Just as I basked in relief and excitement of having created something that would have a life of its own... it caught the eye of another deity."
"They were envious of one of their own giving their body and attention to another, and so, they were going to curse the newborn world, which I could not let happen. I sliced off my own head as a distraction but the spell ended up landing on and affecting my own soulless mind and body, leading me to temporarily forget myself and my creation.
After the battle, my body and severed head fell into Teyvat, leaving behind the deity to grieve for hurting a fellow god.
My body collided with the earth while my head went missing, both staying unmoving, for I had no way to control them nor any memory to guide me on what to do. I felt as eons of life cycles passed before me, ground slowly swallowing my body and breaking it down, making me one with my creation."
The sudden realization hit Zhongli harder than any of his meteorites. All along, the Creator has been among them. They were no spectator above Teyvat or a god who had abandoned them after their duty had concluded, no. They were there... they are...
"Yes, my children... I am Teyvat, and Teyvat is me."
Zhongli was taken aback as their Creator had read through his entire inner battle inside his mind. Now that he was aware of Teyvat's major historical event, he can finally start to string pieces together and think why Teyvat now experiences such instability.
"Your eminence, since your body is apart of Teyvat itself, does the weather, soil and even elemental energy have anything to do with your physical well being?" Another Archon spoke and all tuned in to hear the Creator.
"I certainly does... Even if my body is no longer, most concentrated amounts of my being and the energy inside still lie beneath the ground, instinctively healing Teyvat and the ley lines from major damage, effectively enabling Teyvat and the elemental energy to remain balanced and flourish.
However, lately the level of corruption in the ley lines and the amount of abnormal elemental energy surges have risen greatly, leading my "body" to panic and repel the added strain, therefore leading Teyvat becoming unstable." The creator hugged themselves as they explained and all of us understood the current issue and the gravity of it.
The creators physical body is what had been keeping Teyvat and its energy in line even when the Archons, gods and Celestia had abused it, but know that the last nail has been hammered, the creators body is no longer instinctually healing it and the Celestia is not stepping up to the task that was theirs to begin with.
"Your grace, just say the word and we are at your disposal. What can we do to help?" Zhongli himself spoke, voice even and calm for he had his full faith in his creator.
"You need to find my long lost head and bring it over to my bodys remains. Only then, can I reawaken and consciously put a stop to all of this, for in my current state I am a mere piece of your imagination laced with a voice." The creator explained, as though to prove their point, Their voice now sounded from inside their head as they floated higher and addressed the seven once more with a formal order and open arms.
"Please, find my body and bring my head over to it so I can awaken and help put a stop to this disaster! Let my mind be once again one with my body so balance may be restored, and the curse be lifted!"
Zhongli blinked and everything was just as it was before getting pulled into the domain to meet the creator. The tea he was going to savour previously, was still in his hand, steaming, as though no time had gone by at all. He however knew what had transpired mere second ago, was no daydream or a hallucination, his creator had really summoned him and requested his assistance.
With no more interest in the tea, Zhongli set the unfinished cup down while rising from his seat and began making his way out of Liyue harbor, with a newly acquired goal occupying his mind and shoulders.
Chapter 73
It was almost summer, and the air was hot when the sun was out. It wasn't hot enough to feel uncomfortable, but it was still warm enough to wear short sleeves.
But while everyone else's clothing had become lighter, Wooyeon was sitting on the sofa, looking sullen, wearing a shirt that was quite loose.
“The chairman will be here soon.”
“...You may leave.”
The secretary bowed curtly and headed out the door. Only when the office was empty did Wooyeon lean back in his chair a little comfortably. A deep sigh escaped his mouth, accompanied by a dull ache in his back.
'You're going to see your mother tomorrow?'
Last night, when they were done, Dohyun cleaned him up and tucked him into bed. He ended up staying another night, but that wasn’t the important part.
'Yeah, it's weird that she hasn't called.'
The call that should have come days earlier hadn't. Even if the article was taken care of, she should have at least asked if he was okay, so the silence was unnerving.
'I'm going to try to contact Secretary Yoon.'
'Oh... really?'
Until then, Wooyeon hadn't realized his physical condition. He thought Dohyun's awkward face and the way he rubbed the nape of his neck were simply part of the aftermath. But the next morning, when he looked in the mirror, he was stunned.
'...What is this?'
The nape of his neck was a mess. It was covered with embarrassing marks, as if he had a disease. It didn't hurt or anything, but it was too much to show.
'You didn't do this last time...'
'Well, that's..'
Dohyun calmly put his shirt on Wooyeon. He buttoned it up to his neck and folded the sleeves a couple of times. He still remembers his grimacing eyes as if he were in trouble.
'Because I left it out of sight.'
Wooyeon didn't have to ask where, because as soon as he heard that, several places popped into his head. His inner thighs, or his back, or something like that.
Anyway, as it happened, Wooyeon wore an ivory shirt to school. It was a size too big, but thanks to Dohyun's pheromones it was acceptable.
The problem was that Secretary Yoon contacted him as soon as the lecture was over.
'The President wants to see you.'
Secretary Yoon picked up Wooyeon with amazing timing. She had parked the car in front of the front gate and was waiting for him, as if she knew he would call. Unable to do anything, Wooyeon climbed into the limousine with all eyes on him.
"Please act more ordinary..."
He was already drawing attention, but now he was the center of attention. He didn't know how many flashes went off from reporters as Yoon opened the car door for him. The most memorable was the wide-eyed look on Garam and Sungyu's faces.
“Whoa.”
Taking a deep breath, Wooyeon rubbed the back of his neck. Red marks had bloomed beyond the collar of his shirt, up to his neck. It was a clear enough mark, but it wouldn't be visible unless he unbuttoned his shirt.
“Ten minutes...”
Wooyeon glanced around the office, roughly estimating the time. The antique wood interior hadn't changed much since before he'd left for America. The walls were covered with plaques, and the sofa had been replaced with a different one, but even that wasn't much of a change.
Ten minutes later. As expected, the office door opened. Instead of getting up from his seat, Wooyeon turned his head to look in that direction. A tall, imposing woman walked through the open doorway.
“....”
She looked like a bird of prey. Her razor-cut hair and form-fitting suit hinted at her fierce personality. Even the sound of her shoes echoed off the marble.
“President, the car is...”
“Leave.”
She crossed the office and sat down at a desk with a plaque that read 'Ji Suhyang'. Her bird of prey-like gaze swept past her secretary and landed on Wooyeon.
The secretary bowed as she had done earlier and disappeared out the door.
“Long time no see?”
A heavy pheromone hung in the air. He'd only spoken a word, but the feeling was overwhelming. He instinctively straightened his back and turned to face her.
“...You're a little late getting back to me.”
It was his mother, whom he hadn't seen in four years. A face that any Korean inspector would recognize, and the only person Wooyeon called 'mom'. A typical social leader whose name, 'Ji Suhyang', explained everything.
“Please speak. I don't think you have much time, so I'll just listen and go.”
Four years should be enough to make someone feel nostalgic, but all Wooyeon could think about was how uncomfortable this situation was. He sat on the guest couch, and Suhyang sat at her desk. The space between them was as wide as the distance between them.
“Well...okay. You must be busy.”
Suhyang replied casually and reached for the tablet on her desk. She didn't ask any more questions.
“I caught the culprit who posted on the community. He's 20 years old and went to the same middle school as you. His name is Lee Youngbin, I don't know if you've heard of him.”
It was a sudden statement, but Wooyeon wasn't surprised. However, he couldn't remember anyone named Lee Youngbin, so he furrowed his brows. Well, except for Kang Junsung, Wooyeon didn't remember the faces or names of any of the other students.
“He's the one who posted it, but it turns out he's not in college. The photos were taken in a lecture hall or something, so there must be someone else...”
“I know who it is.”
Suhyang's gaze flicked to Wooyeon. Her eyes were unusually brightly colored for someone with such a light complexion, and it gave him goosebumps to look at them.
“But first, I need to tell you something.”
Wooyeon slowly lowered his eyes and sighed.
“Me and...”
Wooyeon paused for a moment, wondering what to call him. Finally, the right words slipped out of his mouth.
“The person I’m dating.”
It was an unfamiliar phrase. Suhyang narrowed her eyes.
“He beat up the kid who took the picture.”
This was why he wanted to see her in the first place. The moment Dohyun had hit Junsung, his cold brain had come to one conclusion. No way, no how, was Dohyun going to be harmed.
“It's because of me, yet he might get sued.”
It was a simple explanation, but in the end, he wanted to handle it himself. His mother, who was smarter than him, would have understood what he meant right away.
“...He hit him?”
But Suhyang looked unusually puzzled. The corners of her eyes furrowed slightly and her mouth tightened. After a moment of silence, Suhyang nodded.
“Yes, I know.”
Without realizing it, Wooyeon breathed a sigh of relief. Even though she said she knew it's unlikely that she actually did. For now, it was okay to let go of his worries.
“And this.”
Suhyang held out the tablet to Wooyeon. Without a word, Wooyeon stood up and walked over to Suhyang.
“This is the article we'll be publishing this week. I'll be sending it out to the three major media outlets with the same story, so take a look.”
In his hand was a neatly organized article. The official position of Sejeong Group President Ji Suhyang, and the truth about her son, Seon Wooyeon. It wasn't far from the truth, and Wooyeon asked in a bland voice.
"If I tell you not to publish it, will you?"
“You're asking the obvious.”
As if it wasn't worth answering, Suhyang added.
"You have no authority to do that."
“...Only, I didn't think you called me here just to show me something like this.”
Disappointment? No, to be exact, it was a feeling of loss. Wooyeon put down the tablet and slowly opened his mouth.
"I guess that's why you didn't take down the article."
“....”
“You’re going to make it public anyway.”
“I can't keep you hidden forever.”
“You never wanted to hide me in the first place.”
The article even went so far as to state that Wooyeon was her biological child and not an illegitimate child. His face was still unknown, but it was only a matter of time before his radius of influence narrowed.
“It's a way to protect you.”
Suhyang said in a calm voice. It was said so casually that it seemed almost cold. Wooyeon laughed humorlessly when he heard it.
“I knew you were going to say that.”
There were many things he wanted to say, but he didn't have the energy to say them. People say that they feel at peace when they feel the pheromones of their family, but Wooyeon just felt endlessly exhausted. No matter how or when he felt them, he felt suffocated.
“I don't know why you called me when you've already decided everything, but...next time, have Secretary Yoon deliver these things. Don't make a spectacle of calling people to come and go."
When he went to school tomorrow, he was sure he would be at the center of another controversy. The thought of being mixed in with the gossiping crowd was already making his head ache.
Suhyang looked at Wooyeon and softly spoke up.
“If I told you that I called you because I wanted to see you...”
Wooyeon raised his eyes. Their gazes met in the air, and he felt a pang.
“Would you believe me then?”
“You're asking the obvious.”
That was what Suhyang had said earlier, meaning, do you believe that? Suhyang blinked slowly, as if she'd expected it.
“I'll be brief. Come home.”
"I don't want to."
He didn't have to think about it. Wooyeon had given her a refusal and a good reason for it at the same time.
“You said you wouldn't make me until I graduate.”
When he entered university, Wooyeon made a promise to Suhyang. He will take a successor position after graduation as long as she doesn't interfere with him until after he graduates. If it weren't for this promise, he would still be in the United States.
“I'm not asking you to quit school.”
“I said no.”
“Seon Wooyeon.”
Flinching, he shut his mouth. The pale-pigmented Suhyang had exceptionally bright eyes. Maybe that's why he sometimes got goosebumps when he looked at her.
She lowered her pheromones and spoke sternly.
“Don't act like a child. Think of your dignity and your station.”
It was a phrase he'd heard repeatedly since he was a child. He'd heard it so many times that he had memorized it and couldn't forget it.
"If you get published, you won't even be able to go to school without a bodyguard. Do you think you'll still be able to stay in that apartment?"
“...If I don't get published.”
“You know I don't like repeating myself.”
Her eyes glinted sharply. It was an expression that wouldn't let even a needle in. As soon as Wooyeon bit his lip, Suhyang spoke.
“There's no safer place to live than at home. You'll be chauffeured around by Secretary Yoon morning and night, you'll have a bodyguard when you go to lectures, and we'll be selling the old penthouse soon.”
“Well, you won't even be able to get in because of the reporters,” she added, and his eyes widened. Suhyang said it as if it wasn't a big deal.
"Did you think that wouldn't happen?"
Actually, he hadn't thought about it. Since Wooyeon had been staying at Dohyun's place the whole time, he hadn't even paid attention to what happened to his apartment. He just vaguely assumed that there wouldn't be any reporters there.
"If you're thinking of making it so that the kid can't even use his apartment, I won't stop you."
The calm voice flew at him like a dagger. Suhyang looked Wooyeon up and down and set her jaw.
“He can't protect you.”
“....”
“At most, he'll lend you a bed for a few days and put a shirt over your head.”
Yeah, there was no way she wouldn't know. There was no way Suhyang, who was dominant, wouldn’t notice such thick pheromones. She must have realized from the beginning that the shirt belonged to someone else.
“I’m not telling you to break up. I don’t intend to force you to break up with someone you’ve liked for four years.”
“....”
“But the situation,”
“Mom.”
Wooyeon suddenly stopped talking and looked at Suhyang. A single question popped out in his reeling mind.
“Do you know who I'm seeing?”
For a split-second, a look of embarrassment crossed Suhyang's face. It was a brief expression, but Wooyeon saw it. Her usually confident gaze crumbled and her eyes darted away.
Soon after, however, Suhyang replied casually.
“...I know.”
Slowly opening her mouth, Suhyang turned to face Wooyeon, her clear eyes showed no signs of agitation from before. The same was true of her calm voice.
“Pheromones don't change after four years.”
It made sense. In the past, Wooyeon couldn't sense pheromones, but Suhyang must have sensed Dohyun's pheromones. So it wasn't unreasonable for her to recognize them immediately.
"Well then, what I'm saying is."
However, Wooyeon didn't easily let go of his suspicions. That wasn't the only strange thing.
“How did you know I was staying at his house?”
It had been four years since he'd seen Suhyang again, and they hadn't spoken, let alone asked how the other was doing, so of course they wouldn't know each other's whereabouts. She could have heard from her employees that he had been out of the house, but she shouldn't have known where he was staying.
Nevertheless, Suhyang identified Dohyun by saying, “that kid's house." It was a conclusion that skipped too many steps based on only his shirt. Naturally, it all came down to one thing.
"Did you hire someone?"
No answer came back, but it was as good as any. “Ha,” Wooyeon let out a hollow laugh and muttered in a self-deprecating voice.
"Well, you're not the type of person to just let someone go."
He must've been dreaming for a moment. He'd been looking the other way, knowing that Suhyang wasn't someone to just let go. Thinking about going to college and seeing Seonsaeng-nim, he didn't even think about looking around and only looked ahead.
"Aren't you tired of this?"
Wooyeon's doctor, the hired help who took care of the house, the chef who cooked for him, and even his teachers when he was young. Wooyeon had always, always, lived within Suhyang's fence. He had grown tired of living a life where every move was reported in detail.
However, they were merely 'employees’.
“I thought it would end with Danny...”
Suhyang lifted her eyes to look at Wooyeon. The silence that followed was another affirmation. Only after a long pause did she speak.
“Come home. I have nothing more to say.”
With that, Suhyang stood up and straightened her clothes, signaling the end of the conversation. Wooyeon clenched his fists and gritted his teeth.
“...I'm not going back.”
“Seon Wooyeon.”
"No matter what you say, I'm not going back there."
He had no intention of giving in to Suhyang's wishes. It was better to be mobbed by reporters or lose his apartment than enter a house that felt like a prison. He'd rather walk around naked than be locked up behind high walls.
“Every day in that house was hell.”
Wooyeon glared at Suhyang with evil eyes. There were no tears in the corners of his eyes, but for some reason, he looked like he was crying.
"Until I went to America, I never lived like a human being for a single day."
"Even in America, I did whatever you wanted."
It was from a very small thing that he realized that Daniel was Suhyang's person. It was the fact that Daniel, who he had met without any connection, cared too much about him. Daniel knew his appetite and brought him inhibitors every time he had a heat cycle.
Wooyeon was sensitive to manufactured kindness. From childhood to now, the world around him had always been full of pretense. It was an environment that made him keenly aware of what people wanted and what they were approaching him for.
'Danny, go tell my mom that the inhibitor you brought me last time was too weak, so I need something stronger.'
The first time Wooyeon said that, Daniel laughed, without any embarrassment. He even put his arm around Wooyeon's shoulders, as if to say that he knew everything. That smile wasn't fake, and Wooyeon considered him a friend even though he knew everything.
Even the first friend he made like that started with his mother. So what about these new relationships Wooyeon met at university?
“Who is it this time?"
Several faces flashed through his mind. He could still see them comforting him, caring for him, and treating him with affection. But what if it was all made up? How could he endure a situation that made him sick to his stomach just thinking about it?
“This time again, who did you put on me?”
Suhyang's expression was unreadable. She looked angry, and then she looked indifferent. She even looked a little sorry, but that was most likely just a coincidence.
“How far do you have to go before you're satisfied?”
“You...”
After hesitating for a long time, Suhyang slowly opened her mouth. It was the reason she always gave him.
“It’s to protect you.”
“Protection.”
A humorless laugh escaped him. Wooyeon asked innocently, even though this was not the situation at all.
“Like my late mother?”
Suhyang's pheromones sharpened. It was a heavy and strong scent that matched the Alpha perfectly. His lungs flattened and his skin stung. He was out of breath, but didn't stop talking.
"Like the person whom my mother's obsession with eventually killed?"
Wooyeon had another mother besides Suhyang. A mother with a different character, a different personality, and a different family, who married Suhyang and gave birth to Wooyeon. A pitiful Omega, who slowly withered and died under Suhyang's protection.
"That's not protection."
“....”
“It's surveillance.”
Suhyang's eyes flared with anger. Even the fluttering of her eyelids was a remnant of the emotion she couldn't quite contain. Blinking slowly, she tilted her head.
"I don't know what you're trying to do by provoking me, but if you're going to vent your anger, go somewhere else."
There was no trace of embarrassment from before on her cold face. Only the overflowing pheromones trembled anxiously. She spoke in a cold voice, her lips set in a stiff line.
“If you recognized Daniel Connor, you should've known he wasn't the first.”
Wooyeon's mind went blank. His vision went black, and the pheromones that had been swaying suddenly stopped. A cold voice spoke again to Wooyeon, who was blankly moving his lips.
“I'm sorry if you didn't know.”
“....”
"I thought you liked him even though you knew."
That was it. As if there was nothing more to say, Suhyang pushed past Wooyeon and left the office. The slam of the door was louder than ever.
hey 👻! hope you’re doing good! can we please have a maroon teaser? and do you have any more chapters / songs lined up ready to go?
hellloooo!! <3 im doing alright! i hope you are as well, friend
and you absolutely can 😌 as of right now, the only technical song i have lined up officially is the unreleased one for the next chapter, "let's go (battle)", but i am currently working on the next, next chapter and can share a snippet from that! <3 no song decided on yet, although i've been playing around with "wonderland" or "i know places". who knows, though. anyways!
“You know,” Matt mutters as he fiddles with a key ring, unlocking the door to what is clearly his office. The plaque on the door says his name in stagnant cursive. “Normally, when your agent is calling you repeatedly in the dead of night, it means answer him.”
It’s clear he’s speaking to Eddie, so you let him answer as you slide in past Matt as he holds open the door, “I did answer.”
“And then hung up.”
“I was busy.”
“Clearly.”
The office is surprisingly large, probably a deliberate illusion aided by the panoramic windows that occupy an entire wall across from the door. There’s shelves of awards and photos, cleanly lined up in pristine condition, a few even appearing to be copies of ones you’d spotted in Eddie’s apartment. Plated plaques engraved with achievements, photos of moments of the utmost importance framed by sleek black wood. Photos of Eddie, photos of Corroded Coffin, photos of unfamiliar faces. There’s a few empty spots that reveal the need for dusting, but there’s nothing that makes you particularly ache.
Except for one photo. A photo taken the day that Eddie had clearly signed Matt on as his agent; a photo of him shaking Matt’s hand, the smile on his face never having been more superficial. It couldn’t have been more than a month after the tour that you’d left him during.
“I don’t understand why the front cover of some stupid ass magazine is so important,” Eddie grumbles as he follows you now, both of you deciding to stand and not yet sit in the empty chairs on the closest side of what must be Matt’s massive desk, “The tabloids run rumors about my dating life all the time-”
“Exactly.”
The door slams shut behind Matt, and he doesn’t bother to lock it. You’re sure whatever is about to transpire, Matt has informed the entire building to leave the three of you alone as you talk.
“The tabloids are constantly running headlines about you and your mysterious affairs,” Matt continues as he rounds the desk, heading straight for a fairly comfortable looking office chair, “You’re always adding more fuel to the fire. And the label is getting sick of it, Eds.”
There’s an edge to his tone that has you taking a seat the moment he waves for the two of you to do so. Eddie to your left, and a shelf of all that he is now to your right. A life he’s built without you. A life he drafted the blueprints for with you.
“I don’t think I’ve heard anyone call him Eds in years,” you whisper under your breath, staring at the grey carpet below the soles of your feet.
Neither man pays you any mind for the time being.
#thank u ily#maroon#eddie munson#i have a laptop again so i hope i can finish up this and some requests to post very very soon!!#also this isn't edited yet haha my bad
❥ Pairing: Spiderman!Gojo x Black!Y/n
❥ Warnings Include: Cigarettes, Y/n feels survivors guilt, Jealousy, Miscommunication, Alcohol consumption, ANGST, Hurt-comfort, Gojo and Y/n really need a hug, past-established relationship, Violence, OC-mentioning, Major character death mentioning
❥ Synopsis: Upon returning to Japan, Y/n realizes she can no longer escape her past. Conflicted by past events, she must reunite and have an honest, heartfelt conversation with the her former lover; the beloved webslinger.
Y/n walked the streets of New Tokyo, familiar yet strangely foreign now, her heart weighed down by the passage of time. Six years had passed since she left for the States to be with her mother, and the city, though unchanged, felt different.
As she silently moved through the downtown streets, groups of teenagers raced by, their laughter echoing against the towering skyscrapers that glittered like jewels in the night sky. She watched them with a soft smile, amused, as memories of her own youth flooded back—when she and her friends had done the same, running wild without a care, with no thought of the future.
Y/n would give anything to return to those days, when she was a quick-witted teenager, unafraid to challenge authority, surrounded by the loyal friends who backed her every word. But that was over now.
Y/n's somber thoughts pulled her away from memories of the past as she made her way to the Shibuya memorial. What had once been a beautiful park, filled with tranquil lakes and winding trails, had been transformed into a burial site to honor those who lost their lives during the Shibuya incident six years ago. She held the white lilies she had been carrying tightly in her hand as she approached the plaque, where a collection of flowers, cards, and candles lay in tribute.
No doubt, others were grieving for their loved ones as well. Y/n watched as families dressed in dark clothing spoke quietly among themselves, still mourning the tragedy. A wave of nausea rose in her throat; she longed to comfort the strangers still affected by that day, but she knew there was nothing she could say. After all, it was her fault in a way—at least, that was how she perceived the situation.
“Y/n?” A hesitant voice called out.
Y/n placed the flowers gently in front of the pillar and turned toward the sound, offering a weak smile to the shorter brunette woman standing before her. It was Shoko.
Shoko had been one of Y/n's closest friends during her time in Japan. Their relationship had begun on shaky ground, rooted in the circumstances that had led Y/n to move in with Shoko's family. When Y/n's grandmother passed away shortly after her sixteenth birthday, her mother, struggling with a devastating divorce, was in no condition to care for her daughter. As a last resort, she sent Y/n to live with the man who had uprooted her life in the first place: Ken Ieiri, the renowned international doctor with whom Y/n's mother had been having a seven-month affair.
Ken tried to cover his tracks, keeping both his daughter and Y/n in the dark about his actions, claiming that he would be the host parent for Y/n during her time in Japan. When the truth finally came out, it only made things more complicated. The issues he had been having with his wife also came to light, much to Shoko's surprise.
Through it all, Y/n stood by Shoko, providing support during the tumultuous times, and their bond deepened. They became as close as thieves, referring to each other as sisters and siblings.
"Hi, Koko."
The nickname slipped from Y/n's lips more easily than she cared to admit, watching as Shoko’s posture shifted and her eyes clouded with unspoken emotions. Despite the casual atmosphere, Y/n realized she hadn't spoken to Shoko in nearly four years. They had kept in touch for two years after Y/n left, but something had changed; the weight of guilt had consumed her, making it impossible to respond to Shoko's messages or daily check-ins. That third year back in the States had been the hardest for some reason.
“Let me treat you to coffee,” Shoko replied, desperation creeping into her voice as she looked at Y/n, a flurry of questions racing through her mind.
Why was Y/n back? Why had she stopped replying to any of Shoko's texts? Did Satoru know she was back?
The two women sat across from each other in the booth, the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air. Y/n wasn’t sure where to start; she knew she owed Shoko some sort of explanation, but deep down, she felt there was no way to truly convey what had happened.
“Hasn’t been this silent since Dad admitted he was in love with your mom,” Shoko said, breaking the ice as she lifted her carefully crafted cinnamon brown sugar latte.
Y/n blinked in shock before a smile broke across her face, laughter bubbling up at Shoko’s comment. “Oh my god, don't bring that up!”
As the heavy tension lifted, the two began to chat about how life had treated them. Shoko shared her excitement about opening a veterinary clinic as a passion project, while Y/n explained her internship as a reporter for The New York Times. So much had happened in the six years since they last connected that it felt almost impossible to cover it all.
“So, why are you back in New Tokyo?” Shoko finally asked, taking a sip of the hearty soup she had ordered to combat the chill outside.
Y/n shifted in her seat, picking up her own cup and taking a long sip from the black coffee, nothing added to it. The familiar taste brought her comfort, reminding her of her childhood spent on her grandparents' farm in the southern heat. Every morning without fail, her grandma would sit on the porch, watching the sunrise with a steaming mug of black coffee in hand.
“I’ve had some time to reflect, and I’ve been speaking with my psychologist,” Y/n said. “She suggested that my best course of action would be to come back here. I’ll never find peace until I forgive myself and allow myself to move forward.”
Shoko nodded quietly, truly looking at Y/n for the first time in years. It had been so long since she had seen her favorite person. Dark circles under Y/n’s eyes rivaled her own, and her copper curls had grown well past the shoulder-length she used to maintain. Y/n's face appeared thinner, the familiar roundness of her cheeks almost completely gone. The gray oversized turtleneck she wore seemed so out of character, but Shoko knew better than to comment; Y/n was still grieving, and the path to healing was far from over.
“That sounds like a good plan,” Shoko replied softly.
Y/n nodded, fidgeting with her mug before meeting Shoko's warm brown gaze.
“Have you heard from Gojo...?”
Y/n picked at the holes in her ripped and faded baggy jeans as the crisp night wind tickled her nose, standing outside the maroon-colored apartment door with the number B7 crafted in silver. Shoko had given her this address, revealing that Gojo had been living here for the past four years. Located on the shadier side of town, Y/n was surprised that someone like Satoru would be okay with living in such an area, regardless of his abilities and persona.
Yet, it made sense; being in a rougher neighborhood could allow him to save more people and keep the criminals at bay.
Taking a deep breath, Y/n closed her eyes and raised her hand to knock on the door, butterflies swirling in her stomach. Would Satoru even want to see her? What would he say? They had ended things on such bad terms, and the thought of his reaction made her nervous.
A moment of silence followed her knock, and embarrassment crept up her cheeks. The gift bag of snacks and treats she had prepared, things she remembered Satoru liked, suddenly felt like a thousand pounds. What if he wasn’t even home? He could be out on patrol for all she knew.
Suddenly, the door swung open to reveal a tall, slender Black woman wearing nothing but an oversized T-shirt that hung seductively off one shoulder. The woman’s feline-like hazel eyes narrowed into a glare as they fell on Y/n and the basket in her hands.
“Can I help you, sweetheart?” The unknown woman's voice was sharp and curt as she placed a manicured hand on her hip, sizing Y/n up.
In the past, Y/n might have called out the hostile energy this woman was projecting over something as simple as answering the door. But now, on her path to healing, she knew better than to cause a scene over something so trivial.
“Does Satoru Gojo live here? My name is—” Y/n started, but the woman cut her off, waving her hand dismissively.
“Yeah, I know who you are. He’s not here at the moment, but you can wait if you want,” she stated rudely before turning on her heel and stepping back into the apartment.
Y/n’s eye twitched as she watched the woman walk away into the apartment. This was clearly going to test all of her practice in patience and understanding. Anger bubbled beneath the surface, eager to be released. Taking a deep breath, she followed the woman inside and closed the door behind her.
To her surprise, the apartment was cozy. Hues of green, brown, yellow, and orange dominated the decorations, creating a warm atmosphere. Various pottery creations were scattered around the living room and small kitchen area, adding a touch of personality.
“Set that shit down on the counter beside you,” the woman called out, not even glancing back at Y/n, who was still standing by the door.
The woman perched herself on a high bar stool at the dining room table. She sat in a way that seemed almost uncomfortable, her feet resting in a catlike stance as she stared intently at Y/n.
Y/n had to admit the woman was strikingly beautiful—model-worthy, even. Her hair was styled in a messy white pixie cut, and her ears were adorned with numerous piercings. The moles on her face were artfully placed: one along her left cheek, another beneath her right eye, and one on the left side of her chin.
"Salomé." The woman gave her name, as she continued to dissect Y/n with her eyes.
Y/n had a myriad of questions she wanted to ask Salomé regarding Satoru. Though she knew she had no right, jealousy bubbled within her at the thought that this woman seemed to be staying with him, and judging by the decorations, it appeared to have been for a while.
“You dying or something?” Salomé asked, amusement evident in her voice.
“Excuse me?” Y/n shot back, annoyance creeping into her tone.
She had tried to be polite, but Salomé's holier-than-thou attitude was starting to get under her skin. Whether Salomé sensed this was unclear, as she maintained her emotionless demeanor, continuing to test Y/n’s patience.
“I mean, you’ve been gone for a fucking long time with no contact, so I’m trying to figure out why you’re in my home,” she replied, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
“Last I checked, this is an apartment, not a house,” Y/n snapped, glaring at Salomé.
Despite her efforts to remain civil, Y/n found it increasingly difficult to tolerate Salomé’s nasty attitude. Therapy be damned. Salomé clicked her tongue in response to Y/n's petty retort, a smirk spreading across her face.
“You’re right. It is an apartment, but it’s home to Satoru. After all, he chooses to be here instead of that big ole, lonely penthouse he has downtown.”
Y/n couldn’t take it anymore. She stalked toward Salomé, her ears burning with anger, ready to chew her out and leave this frustratingly beautiful apartment.
“What the fuck is your problem?” Y/n yelled.
Salomé hopped off her chair, towering over Y/n, crossing her arms over her chest. She seemed oddly relaxed despite the aggression radiating from Y/n.
“Mm, you trying to solve it, little miss perfect?” Salomé taunted.
Without thinking, Y/n reacted and swung, her fist connecting with Salomé’s face. The nickname had struck a nerve; she hadn’t heard it since Geto’s passing, and she sure as hell wasn’t ready to hear it from some woman sizing her up. Caught up in her emotions, Y/n hadn't realized Salomé had gone deathly quiet, holding her cheek as the taste of copper filled her mouth.
“You don’t know me. Don’t talk to me like you do, bitch,” Y/n shouted, anger boiling over as tears welled in her eyes.
She had been doing so well at not thinking about him—the bane of her guilt: Geto Suguru. It was her fault. All her fault. If only she hadn’t been there that day. He was the one who should be alive.
In the blink of an eye, Salomé closed the distance, her presence overpowering as a wave of bloodlust radiated from her. Y/n was jolted from her thoughts by the sheer intensity in Salomé’s gaze, her nails lengthening and sharpening as a low growl escaped her throat.
“I’m gonna have so much fun,” Salomé purred, her voice dripping with malice.
Y/n's eyes widened as Salomé lunged for her, only to be halted by the familiar sound of a THWIP connecting with the back of her hand, pulling her backwards.
"That's enough, Sal," Satoru called out sternly as he appeared through the now-opened kitchen window.
Salomé's plump two-toned lips formed into a frown as she turned her attention to Satoru, who had only just removed his mask, rolling her eyes in annoyance. She absolutely hated that he always interrupted her fun.
“Whatever, disconnect your fluid, spider-boy. I wasn’t going to do anything but scratch her,” she retorted.
Satoru shook his head in amusement, seemingly used to Salomé’s spoiled attitude. He tugged the web closer, pulling her further away from Y/n and closer to him.
“Sure, you were,” he replied sarcastically.
Once Salomé was close enough, Satoru removed the webbing from her hand, taking in the bruise forming on her cheek and her split lip. Both of them knew she could have easily dodged Y/n's punch, which meant she had let it happen on purpose. Satoru could only assume it was so Salomé would have a reason to retaliate. Thankfully, he had arrived in time to prevent what could have been a disaster.
“It will heal. I’m fine,” Salomé interrupted his thoughts, pulling away from Satoru and turning to head into her room.
“Where are you going?” he questioned, still not addressing Y/n, who stared at him in silence and awe.
“Out,” Salomé yelled back, slamming the door to her room. Her departure usually meant trouble for Spiderman to deal with.
Satoru cursed under his breath, realizing this was going to be a problem later. A riled-up Salomé was a recipe for disaster; she was definitely going to create a scene outside as Black Cat, and he would have to clean it up.
Y/n looked at the man Satoru had grown into. His suit was different, red with accents of blue and black, and it looked handmade. He was beyond muscular, no doubt a result of his years as a masked vigilante. His hair was shaggier but still untamable, styled with a clean undercut. His cerulean eyes met her dark ones and just like that, Y/n was teleported back to being a teen blindly in love.
It had been six long years since their messy breakup, a turbulent chapter of their lives that still lingered in the corners of his mind. The weight of unspoken words hung in the air, thick with the tension of unresolved feelings.
Y/n felt her heart race under the intensity of his stare, the memories flooding back like a tidal wave. She remembered the laughter, the whispered secrets, and the raw passion that had once defined their relationship. But she also recalled the pain—the arguments, the misunderstandings, and the hurtful things they had said.
Satoru's expression softened as he took in the changes that time had wrought on Y/n. She was still beautiful, but the years had etched lines of experience around her eyes. He could see the remnants of her past struggles reflected in her gaze, a mix of resilience and vulnerability that pulled at his heart.
In that moment, neither of them needed words. They stood at the precipice of their shared history, each lost in their thoughts yet connected by an invisible thread of familiarity. It was as if time had folded, collapsing the distance between their past and present into this singular moment.
Finally, Y/n broke the stillness, her voice barely above a whisper. "Satoru…" But the sound hung in the air, unfinished, as if the weight of everything they had been through held her back.
Satoru’s heart thudded in his chest, emotions swirling within him—regret, longing, and a flicker of hope. He opened his mouth to speak, but words eluded him. Instead, he took a step closer, his eyes searching hers for answers.
Y/n felt small under Satoru's towering presence; he had grown so much taller in the years since they last saw each other. Subconsciously, she placed a hand on his cheek, her touch tentative, as if she were afraid he might dissolve into nothing if she pressed too hard.
“Satoru—”
“You smoke?”
They spoke in unison, the intensity of their eye contact unbroken. Y/n couldn’t help but smile as she nodded, and Satoru responded with a nod of approval, the corners of his lips curling up ever so slightly.
Finally, he stepped away from her, granting Y/n a moment to remember how to breathe.
“Let me change, and I’ll meet you on the balcony,” he said, heading toward his room.
Y/n couldn’t help the wave of relief that washed over her at the thought of Satoru going into a separate room instead of the one Salomé had entered just moments before. The prospect of having even a little space felt like a reprieve, a chance to gather her thoughts before facing the complexity of their reunion.
As Satoru disappeared into his room, Y/n took a deep breath, allowing herself to feel the mixture of anticipation and anxiety that swirled within her. It was a small step forward, but it felt monumental, like the first light breaking through after a long, dark night..
Satoru emerged from his room, clad in a fitted black compression T-shirt that accentuated his muscular frame and gray sweatpants that hung comfortably on his hips. He balanced a couple of cold beers in one hand and a pizza box in the other, the savory aroma wafting through the air as he stepped onto the balcony.
“Here,” he said, tossing a soft blanket over Y/n’s shoulders. “Just in case you get cold.” The warmth of his gesture wrapped around her like a comforting embrace, igniting a flicker of familiarity that eased the tension in her chest.
They leaned against the balcony railing, the city skyline sprawling out before them, glittering under the starry sky. Satoru opened a beer and took a long sip, his gaze drifting momentarily into the distance. Y/n followed suit, the cool drink refreshing as it slid down her throat.
After a moment of silence, she pulled out a cigarette, her hands slightly trembling as she lit it. Satoru joined her, the flicker of the lighter illuminating his face for a brief moment. Their eyes met, and he offered a small, hesitant smile, a silent acknowledgment of their shared history.
With each puff, the smoke swirled between them, mingling with the winter night air. They began to catch up, their conversation flowing hesitantly at first, filled with light-hearted anecdotes about their lives over the past six years. Each laugh felt like a small step toward bridging the gap that had grown between them.
Yet, beneath the surface, the weight of their unresolved issues lingered. They both knew that the elephant in the room—the reason for their breakup—loomed large, unspoken but ever-present.
Y/n could feel the tension mounting as they danced around the topic, their laughter mingling with the underlying anxiety of what needed to be addressed. Satoru’s occasional sidelong glances caught her off guard, sending a rush of warmth through her, but she quickly masked her feelings with a playful smirk.
“Your girlfriend is a mutant?” Y/n finally asked, trying to mask her curiosity with casual indifference.
“My friend,” Satoru corrected, taking another drag of his cigarette, the smoke curling into the night air. “And yeah, she is.”
“Yeah, well, tell her that. She seems awfully fond of you,” Y/n retorted, rolling her eyes, unable to hide the jealousy seeping into her tone.
Satoru paused, nodding as he considered his relationship with Salomé. “We’ve hooked up a few times,” he admitted, his voice steady but tinged with something Y/n couldn't quite place.
Oh. An awful feeling washed over her, but she knew it wasn’t fair to voice her discomfort. It had been years; expecting him to wait for her when she hadn’t even given any sign of wanting to get back together was unreasonable. Still, the realization twisted in her gut.
“Oh.”
“Don’t do that shit, Y/n.” He rubbed his temple, balancing the cigarette between his fingers as frustration flickered in his eyes.
“Do what? The bitch you’re fucking attacked me—”
“You hit her first, and I stopped her before she could touch you,” Satoru replied, his voice firm despite the irritation creeping up his neck at Y/n's attitude.
Why did he always seem to gravitate toward the most spoiled and entitled women?
“Yeah, but what if you weren’t there in time?”
“Dammit, Y/n. You know I’d never let anything happen to you,” he snapped, cutting her off, his gaze locking onto hers with an intensity that made her heart race.
In that moment, the air between them crackled with unspoken tension, a reminder of the bond they once shared and the walls they had both built in the years since their breakup. Y/n felt the weight of his words, but the jealousy still lingered, battling against the flicker of warmth that came from his unwavering protection.
“Yeah, well, I still don’t like her,” Y/n shrugged, trying to act nonchalant despite the way his piercing gaze made her feel.
“She’s just protective. She wants to make sure I don’t get hurt. I’m guessing she was trying to scare you off before I got here,” Satoru replied, his tone steady but laced with an undercurrent of irritation.
“Or maybe she’s just a bitch. Whatever image of me you’re feeding her to make her act like that is wrong.” The words slipped out before Y/n could think, and she instantly regretted mentioning Salomé, especially in the context of their breakup.
“So I’m wrong to say you broke up with me after my best friend died?” Satoru’s voice turned icy, his eyes hardening as they bore into hers.
“Satoru—”
“I was wrong to say that you didn’t even have the guts to tell me in person? You left a letter in my apartment the night before my college entry exam?” His tone sharpened, cruel and unyielding, as he crushed the beer can in his hand effortlessly.
“Sator—”
“I was wrong to say that Shibuya haunts me too, but I was there for you in any way I could be, while you only cared about yourself. You didn’t even give me a chance to fight for us, for this.”
“IM NOT STRONG LIKE YOU!” Y/n screamed into the night, her voice echoing off the buildings. She felt drained, the weight of Satoru’s righteous anger crashing over her like a wave.
In that moment, the truth of her words hung heavy between them, a testament to the scars their past had left. The air surrounding the pair was overflowing with tension, both knowing they were standing on the precipice of a conversation they had both been avoiding for far too long.
"Y/n-"
Now it was Y/n’s turn to be heard, to explain what she should have said years ago.
“Satoru, I’m not like you,” she began, her voice trembling. “You hold the weight of the world on your shoulders and balance it gracefully. I’m a mess. I can’t get his face out of my head. Every night, I have nightmares about Shibuya and how it wouldn’t have spiraled out of control if I hadn’t been there. All those people died because you chose to save me. Geto died because you chose to save me.” She choked back sobs, gripping the metal railing tightly, silently grateful that the night sky shielded her tears from view.
“Hey, Shibuya was not your fault. Nobody could have known what was going to happen,” Satoru replied softly, but Y/n shook her head vehemently.
“Yes, it is. Satoru, you had the choice to let me die or let thousands die, and you chose to save me.”
Satoru fell silent, memories flooding back to that fateful night. He recalled the six villains he had taken down in the past, now teaming up to try and end him once and for all. Among them had been his best friend, Geto. Their friendship had crumbled after the death of Riko Amanai, that had changed them both forever.
As Spiderman, Satoru had easily dispatched five of the attackers. But when it came to Geto, he hesitated. The love he felt for his childhood friend was a bond that ran deeper than he had ever felt for anyone else. When Geto realized that Satoru couldn’t bring himself to hurt him, he issued an ultimatum: let Y/n die or stop the bomb that would blow up the busiest highway in all of New Tokyo.
Satoru had begged Geto not to make him choose. He even offered to sacrifice his own life in exchange, but nothing he said could satisfy his friend, who had been too far gone. Geto wanted Satoru to feel the same despair he had endured when Riko died, the helplessness that had consumed him.
But what had gone unaccounted for was Satoru’s profound selfishness and skill. Just as he was good hero, he couldn’t bear to lose Y/n too—not after losing Sayori, his sister, who had sacrificed herself to stop a villain too strong for Spiderman to face alone. Yet, he managed to do the impossible and do both; stop the bomb and save Y/n.
Enraged, Geto set off another bomb in an undisclosed area in the city and proceeded to launched himself at the couple, his fury fueled by the belief that Satoru’s choices had led to his suffering. He was tired of bearing the weight of the consequences alone. Despite the threat Geto posed, Satoru couldn’t bring himself to deliver the final blow.
As they engaged in a fierce battle, Satoru quickly realized that Geto wasn’t in control of his actions; he was being manipulated by an alien symbiote named Kenjaku. In that moment of clarity, Satoru understood that he wasn’t just fighting his best friend—he was fighting for his soul.
Desperation surged within Satoru as he recalled all the moments they had shared, all the laughter and dreams that had once bound them together. With a heavy heart, he made the agonizing decision to fulfill Geto’s final request: to ensure that no one else would be harmed by his hands.
In an act of mercy, Satoru focused his energy, channeling it into a powerful blow that would free Geto from the symbiote's grasp. As he struck, he felt a pang of sorrow and regret, knowing that this was the end of an era—a painful farewell to a friendship that had meant everything to him.
Y/n and Satoru had been there with the real Geto during his final moments, each of them holding one of his hands, sobbing uncontrollably as he took his last breath. The weight of their grief hung heavy in the air, a tangible reminder of the bond they had shared and the tragic loss that now enveloped them.
“Y/n, people were going to die regardless,” Satoru finally said, his voice trembling with the remnants of emotion. “The point was to make sure I would fall into the same despair that Geto had experienced. The symbiotes feed on the hopelessness of their hosts.”
His words echoed in Y/n’s mind, a bitter truth that cut deep. She felt the anger and confusion swirling within her, struggling to reconcile the pain of losing Geto with the reality of what had transpired. The symbiote’s twisted motives had ensnared them all, dragging them into a cycle of despair and loss.
“So you’re saying it was all part of their plan?” Y/n's voice cracked, the vulnerability creeping into her tone. “That you were meant to suffer like he did?”
Satoru nodded, his gaze distant as he wrestled with the implications of his choices. “That’s what they wanted. To manipulate my emotions, to turn me against myself. Geto was just a pawn in their game, and so was I.”
Y/n took a shaky breath, trying to process the enormity of it all. She had witnessed the destruction caused by their battles, the lives lost, and the scars left behind. But hearing Satoru articulate the symbiote's twisted intentions brought a new layer of anguish.
“I just wish…” she began, but the words caught in her throat, unable to fully articulate the depth of her sorrow.
“I know,” Satoru replied softly, his eyes reflecting a mix of pain and understanding. “I wish things could have been different too.”
“I’m sorry I left,” Y/n finally said, her voice barely above a whisper as she avoided making eye contact with the man she loved so dearly. The weight of her apology hung in the air between them, a fragile acknowledgment of the pain that had defined their separation.
Satoru remained silent, the tension thick as he processed her words. He could feel the regret emanating from her, a mirror to the guilt that had plagued him since that fateful day. It was an admission they both needed but had been too afraid to voice until now.
“I thought I was doing the right thing,” she continued, her hands fidgeting with the blanket draped over her shoulders. “I thought distancing myself would help you heal, help us both heal. But I see now that I was wrong.”
His heart ached at her confession, the sorrow in her eyes resonating deeply within him. “You don’t have to apologize,” he finally said, his voice steady yet tinged with emotion. “I should have fought harder to keep you by my side. We were both hurting, and I didn’t know how to reach out.”
Y/n finally met his gaze, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. “I should have communicated better, should have told you how much I was struggling. Instead, I just… ran away.”
Satoru stepped closer, the distance between them shrinking as he searched her face for understanding. “We were both caught up in our pain, but we can’t change the past. What matters is that we’re here now.”
2024-12-30: Nevada (Hex 30)
Sagebrush shrubs grow in clusters on the edge of the desert, while the desiccated husks of tumbleweeds crinkle softly as the wind blows them in an erratic path across the dusty soil.
Notable Feature: Spotlight Dunes (Natural Landmark)
Points of light shine like miniature spotlights embedded into the sand dunes when the sun is at your back. They are formed as a consequence of iron rich sand piling into dunes formations where it interacts with the dry and dusty climate to attract lightning when the weather conditions are right. When lightning strikes the sand, the intense heat and energy fuse the sand into a dark glass. Over time, the wind-blown sands smooth out the surface of the glass and polish it into a mirror-like sheen.
Service Station: The Ace of Diamonds Gas Mart
The Routes make it hard to get to Las Vegas from here, but make it easy to get from Las Vegas to wherever this place is. Many people leave the bright lights of Vegas and find themselves stuck in the desert, and it happens often enough that the last service station for many miles started embracing these accidental visitors. There are a handful of employees present at any given time, and they are all dressed like Liberace. Although they have more typical names that were assigned to them at birth, they only answer to "Liberace" while on the clock.
Inside the shop, six penny slot machines sit on a counter near one wall with a worn stool in front of each. Each time the shop is visited, there are 1d4+1 slot machines in use. Even the toilets on the side of building cash in on the gambling motif. Images of a king and queen are painted on the bathroom door, and a brass plaque nailed to the door reads "Royal Flush (Toilet)".
Discover a Confident Smile with Braces in Wexford
A Straight Smile Is More Than Just Aesthetic
Having straight teeth is not only about achieving a picture-perfect smile—it’s also crucial for long-term dental health. Misaligned teeth can lead to a host of issues, from jaw pain and uneven tooth wear to difficulty chewing and even speech problems. That’s why more people in Ireland are seeking professional help from a qualified Orthodontist Wexford residents can trust for long-term results.
Orthodontic care has evolved dramatically, offering options that suit every lifestyle and age group. Whether you’re a teenager preparing for a big change or an adult finally ready to invest in your smile, the right orthodontic care can make all the difference.
Why Orthodontics Is a Worthwhile Investment
Orthodontics is often seen as a cosmetic procedure, but it’s far more than that. Properly aligned teeth contribute to healthier gums, better oral hygiene, and a reduced risk of gum disease and tooth decay. When teeth are crooked or crowded, cleaning becomes more difficult, making the mouth a breeding ground for plaque and bacteria.
A professional Orthodontist Wexford families rely on will assess more than just aesthetics—they’ll look at bite alignment, jaw positioning, and overall oral structure to ensure that your treatment benefits your health as much as your smile.
Exploring Your Options for Braces
When it comes to Braces Wexford patients have access to a wide variety of options that cater to different needs and preferences. Today’s braces are more comfortable, discreet, and efficient than ever before. Some common options include:
Traditional Metal Braces: Still the most popular, these are highly effective and cost-efficient.
Ceramic Braces: Less visible than metal braces, ideal for those concerned about aesthetics.
Lingual Braces: Placed behind the teeth, these are virtually invisible from the front.
Clear Aligners: Removable, transparent trays that gradually shift teeth into position.
Your orthodontist will guide you through these choices and recommend the best fit for your dental condition, lifestyle, and budget.
What to Expect from the Orthodontic Journey
Orthodontic treatment is a process that typically spans several months to a few years, depending on the complexity of the case. The first step is a consultation, during which digital scans, x-rays, and physical exams help shape your personalized treatment plan.
Throughout the treatment, regular visits to your Orthodontist Wexford expert are crucial to track progress and make necessary adjustments. Post-treatment, a retainer may be recommended to keep your teeth in their new, perfect positions.
Although braces require an initial adjustment period, the results are worth it—improved confidence, better oral health, and a lasting smile.
Orthodontics for All Ages
Gone are the days when braces were just for teenagers. In Wexford and beyond, more adults are embracing orthodontics to correct long-standing issues or improve their appearance. Modern braces and aligners are designed with adult needs in mind—offering discreet options and shorter treatment times.
Children, too, benefit from early orthodontic evaluations, often beginning as young as age 7. Early assessment allows orthodontists to address issues before they worsen, potentially reducing the need for more extensive treatment later.
Choosing the Right Orthodontist Matters
Not all orthodontic providers are the same. It’s important to choose a clinic that combines advanced technology with a warm, professional approach. From the initial consultation to the final retainer, your journey should feel supported, informed, and comfortable.
The Ultimate Guide to Daily Oral Hygiene
Maintaining a healthy smile goes far beyond the occasional visit to the dentist. It begins with a solid daily oral hygiene routine at home. At The Dental Place, we believe that prevention is the key to long-term dental health—and it all starts with the habits you build each day. Whether you're looking to fine-tune your current routine or you're starting from scratch, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know about daily oral care.
Why Daily Oral Hygiene Matters
Your mouth is a gateway to your overall health. Poor oral hygiene doesn’t just lead to cavities and bad breath; it can also contribute to more serious conditions like gum disease, infections, and even heart disease. Establishing a consistent daily oral care routine helps prevent plaque buildup, strengthens enamel, and keeps your gums healthy.
Step-by-Step: The Ideal Daily Oral Care Routine
1. Brush Twice a Day
Brushing your teeth in the morning and before bed is the foundation of oral hygiene. Here’s how to do it right:
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste.
Brush for at least two minutes each time.
Hold your brush at a 45-degree angle to your gums.
Use gentle, circular motions to clean all surfaces: front, back, and chewing sides of your teeth.
Don’t forget to brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
Replace your toothbrush or electric brush head every 3 to 4 months—or sooner if the bristles are frayed.
2. Floss Daily
Flossing is just as important as brushing. It removes plaque and food particles between your teeth and under the gumline, where your toothbrush can’t reach.
Use about 18 inches of floss, winding most around one finger and the rest around the opposite hand.
Gently slide the floss between teeth, curving it around each tooth in a C-shape.
Move the floss up and down to clean both sides before moving to the next tooth.
If traditional floss is challenging, consider using floss picks, interdental brushes, or a water flosser.
3. Use Mouthwash
Mouthwash isn’t a substitute for brushing or flossing, but it can be a great addition to your routine:
Choose an antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash for extra protection.
Swish for 30 seconds, then spit it out.
Avoid eating or drinking for 30 minutes afterward for maximum effectiveness.
Mouthwash helps reduce plaque, kill bacteria, and fight bad breath.
4. Stay Hydrated
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day helps wash away food particles and bacteria. It also keeps your mouth moist, which is essential for good oral health. A dry mouth can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.
5. Maintain a Healthy Diet
What you eat significantly impacts your oral health. A diet high in sugar and acidic foods increases the risk of tooth decay and erosion. Instead, focus on:
Crunchy fruits and vegetables like apples and carrots, which stimulate saliva and clean your teeth naturally.
Dairy products, leafy greens, and nuts, which are rich in calcium and other essential nutrients.
Limiting sugary snacks, soft drinks, and highly processed foods.
6. Clean Dental Appliances
If you wear braces, dentures, retainers, or mouthguards, clean them daily to prevent bacteria buildup. Follow your dentist’s care instructions to keep these appliances in top condition.
Bonus Tips for a Healthier Smile
Avoid tobacco products, which can stain teeth and increase the risk of oral cancer and gum disease.
Chew sugar-free gum after meals if you can’t brush right away—it helps increase saliva and reduce acid.
Visit your dentist regularly, at least twice a year, for checkups and professional cleanings.
At The Dental Place, we’re here to support you every step of the way on your oral health journey. Our team offers personalized care and expert advice tailored to your unique needs.
Signs You Might Need to See a Dentist Sooner
While preventive care is key, it’s important to know when something might be wrong. Make an appointment with your dentist if you notice:
Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth
Bleeding or swollen gums
Sensitivity to hot, cold, or sweet foods
Loose or shifting teeth
Mouth sores that don’t heal
Catching problems early can make a big difference in treatment outcomes.
Final Thoughts
Daily oral hygiene doesn’t have to be complicated—it just needs to be consistent. With a few smart habits and regular dental visits, you can enjoy a healthier smile for years to come. If you have questions or need help with your dental routine, our friendly team at The Dental Place is here to help.
Teeth Whitening: Over time, teeth can become discolored due to a variety of factors, including coffee, wine, smoking, and aging. Sunrise Family Dental offers professional teeth whitening treatments that can restore the natural brightness of your smile, with results that are far more effective than over-the-counter products.
Veneers: If you have chipped, stained, or misaligned teeth, veneers may be the perfect solution. Veneers are thin shells made of porcelain or composite resin that are placed over the front of your teeth to improve their appearance. They can correct imperfections and give you a smooth, white, and even smile.
Invisalign: For those who want to straighten their teeth without the hassle and discomfort of traditional metal braces, Invisalign is a popular option. Invisalign uses clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten teeth. Sunrise Family Dental offers this advanced orthodontic treatment, making it easier than ever to achieve a beautifully aligned smile.
Bonding: Dental bonding is a versatile procedure that can address a variety of cosmetic issues, such as cracked, chipped, or decayed teeth. A tooth-colored resin is applied to the affected area and then hardened with a special light, restoring the natural appearance and function of your teeth.
Crowns and Bridges: If you have missing or severely damaged teeth, crowns and bridges can restore both function and aesthetics. Crowns are caps that cover damaged teeth, while bridges are used to replace one or more missing teeth by anchoring them to surrounding healthy teeth.
By focusing on enhancing both the appearance and function of your smile, Sunrise Family Dental ensures that you not only look great but feel confident about your smile as well.
Comprehensive Dental Hygiene Services in Naperville
At Sunrise Family Dental, their dental hygiene services in Naperville are designed to keep your teeth and gums in top condition.
Professional Cleanings: Even with regular brushing and flossing, plaque and tartar can build up on your teeth, leading to potential oral health issues. A professional cleaning performed by a skilled hygienist at Sunrise Family Dental removes this buildup, helping prevent gum disease, tooth decay, and other dental problems. The cleaning process is thorough and ensures that your teeth are polished and free from harmful bacteria.
Gum Disease Prevention and Treatment: Gum disease is one of the most common oral health problems and can lead to tooth loss if left untreated. Sunrise Family Dental provides comprehensive gum disease prevention and treatment, including scaling and root planing, which are designed to remove bacteria and prevent the disease from progressing.
Fluoride Treatments: Fluoride is essential in maintaining strong, cavity-resistant teeth. If you’re at a higher risk of developing cavities, fluoride treatments can help strengthen your enamel and protect your teeth. Sunrise Family Dental offers fluoride treatments during your routine visits to help maintain your oral health.
Oral Cancer Screenings: Oral cancer can be life-threatening if not detected early. As part of their preventive care, Sunrise Family Dental provides oral cancer screenings during your routine dental visits. The Importance of Combining Cosmetic and Preventive Care
Good dental hygiene prevents cavities, gum disease, and other issues that can interfere with the results of cosmetic treatments. For instance, if you’ve had veneers, crowns, or other restorations, keeping your gums and surrounding teeth healthy is essential to ensure that your cosmetic improvements last. Regular professional cleanings and checkups also allow the dentist to spot any potential issues early, preventing the need for more extensive treatments down the road.
Marseille: bronzer plus pour dessiner mieux, la mairie lance un concours inattendu
Un concours de bronzage pour élire les meilleurs projets littoraux à Marseille Du sable chaud à la mairie : quand la politique se met à dorer au soleil Sous les rayons d’un été déjà bien avancé, la mairie de Marseille a officiellement lancé son tout premier « Concours municipal de bronzage stratégique », destiné à départager les projets d’aménagement du littoral sud. L’objectif : identifier les futurs rénovateurs du front de mer... à la couleur de leur peau. « L’idée, c’est de faire preuve d’un véritable engagement territorial. Si tu ne peux pas chauffer une serviette pendant six heures sans plier, tu ne peux pas gérer une plage », explique Sabine Armagnac, adjointe au soleil et à la décontraction institutionnelle. Le concours, soutenu par une majorité municipale visiblement très bronzophile, repose sur un principe limpide : plus un candidat est bronzé, plus son projet est “connecté au terrain”. Transats notariés et SPF de compétition : Marseille chauffe ses neurones Depuis le lancement du concours, des transats officiels ont été installés devant l’Hôtel de Ville et numérotés selon la teinte attendue : des tons “miel calanques” pour les débutants jusqu’au “cabossé chorizo” pour les plus ambitieux. Chaque participant a droit à un parasol réglementaire, à condition qu’il le plie lui-même pour prouver sa résilience thermique. « On ne prétend pas récompenser le bronzage pour le bronzage. On parle ici de concepts solaires appliqués à l’urbanisme côtier », précise Jean-Baptiste Sablet, “directeur de la réflexion passive”. Pour lui comme pour d’autres, un bon architecte se reconnaît à sa capacité à suer tout en tenant une maquette éco-consciente. Parmi les figures les plus remuantes du concours, un professeur auto-proclamé de dermatologie environnementale, surnommé “Professeur Rayons”, a fait sensation en arrivant torse nu avec un niveau laser intégré à son pectoral gauche. « J’ai bronzé à Arles sans ombre pendant 12 jours. Je peux supporter une réunion de chantier sur gravier brûlant », affirme-t-il, pendant qu’un drone municipal mesure son indice de mélanine en temps réel. Projets en maillot et plages privatisées : vers une politique à la crème solaire Chaque projet doit être défendu sur place, à la criée, pendant la “Golden Hour” officielle (18h34 – 19h15), alors que le soleil rase le Vieux-Port. Les pitchs doivent être courts, convaincants et réalisés en tongs. À la clé : un accès privilégié à une plage semi-publique pendant les douze prochaines années, un jeton nominatif pour la navette maritime fantôme et surtout, la gravure de son nom sur une plaque en sable compressé – durable “jusqu’au prochain Mistral”. Les propositions fusent à toute vitesse : une aire de beach-volley cyclable, des douches solaires connectées au budget participatif, voire une “zone de silence SPF50” réservée aux usagers fatigués du bruit des cigales. Le tout au rythme d’un DJ plage sélectionné par l’Académie des Systèmes Sonores de Plein Air. L’aménagement urbain au soleil levant Du côté des riverains, les avis sont partagés. Certains saluent une démarche novatrice qui “réconcilie le corps bronzé et l’âme citoyenne”, d’autres restent sceptiques : « Franchement, j’ai une super idée de parc aquatique sur pilotis, mais je pèle dès avril. Je suis foutu », confie Mireille, urbaniste photophobe. Le maire, quant à lui, assume pleinement : « Marseille est une ville solaire. Nous croyons à la gouvernance par cuisson progressive. » Une cérémonie de remise de prix – baptisée “Le Teint d’Or” – aura lieu à la fin du mois de juillet sur un podium constitué de palettes recyclées et de sable de rattrapage. Le public est invité à venir avec des lunettes de soleil et des pancartes de soutien aux candidats : “Un projet rouge écrevisse, c’est le début du service public.” Affaire à suivre, à condition de ne pas oublier la crème.
Everything You Need to Know About the V-loop Lingual Retainer
Orthodontic treatment helps individuals achieve their desired smile, but the journey doesn’t involve removing braces. Retainers play a crucial role in preserving the new alignment of the teeth. The V-loop lingual retainer stands out for its discreet design and effectiveness among various retainers. If you’re considering options for post-brace care, this article will guide you through the essentials of the V-loop lingual retainer—how it works, its benefits, and what to expect during the process.
What Is a V-loop Lingual Retainer?
The Function of a Lingual Retainer
A lingual retainer is typically fixed to the inside of the teeth, out of sight, and serves as a permanent solution to prevent teeth from shifting back to their previous positions. The V-loop version is a particular design that involves a wire shaped like a "V" looping around the front teeth. This structure offers robust retention without being visible to others.
How Does It Differ from Traditional Retainers?
Traditional removable retainers are often worn on the outside of the teeth, whereas the V-loop lingual retainer is bonded to the back. This makes it virtually invisible and a preferred choice for many patients concerned about aesthetics. Its permanent nature also means you won’t need to worry about removing and cleaning it frequently.
Advantages of the V-loop Lingual Retainer
Aesthetic Appeal
One of the most significant benefits of the V-loop lingual retainer is its discreet nature. Because it is placed behind the teeth, no one can tell you’re wearing it. This makes it an attractive option for adults who want to maintain their appearance without the visibility of traditional retainers or retainers with visible wires.
Durability and Long-Term Effectiveness
Once installed, the V-loop lingual retainer is built to last. This fixed retainer provides continuous support, unlike removable retainers, which can be lost or damaged. Proper care can align your teeth for many years without needing replacements or adjustments.
No Need for Daily Removal
Another advantage of the V-loop lingual retainer is that you don’t need to remove it daily, unlike traditional removable devices. This reduces the chance of misplacing the retainer and eliminates the hassle of putting it back in place daily, making it an easier option for individuals with busy lifestyles.
How Is the V-loop Lingual Retainer Fitted?
The Process of Getting Fitted
The fitting of a V-loop lingual retainer typically starts with an orthodontist taking an impression of your teeth to create a custom retainer. This ensures the retainer fits perfectly and offers the necessary support to prevent shifting. The process may involve X-rays to assess the alignment of your teeth and gums, ensuring that the retainer will not cause any issues.
The Installation Procedure
Once the retainer is ready, your orthodontist will use dental adhesive to bond the wire to the inside of your teeth. The procedure is generally quick, taking no more than an hour, and most patients experience minimal discomfort. After the retainer is in place, you will likely need to return for follow-up appointments to ensure that it remains securely attached and functions as intended.
Aftercare and Maintenance
Proper care is essential to ensure the longevity of your retainer. You must maintain a good oral hygiene routine, regularly brushing your teeth and the retainer to avoid plaque build-up. While the retainer is designed to last for many years, regular check-ups are necessary to ensure that it stays in good condition and your teeth remain correctly aligned.
Possible Downsides of the V-loop Lingual Retainer
Initial Discomfort
While the V-loop lingual retainer is generally well-tolerated, it can cause some initial discomfort, especially in the first few days after it is fitted. The inside of your mouth may feel sore as it adjusts to the retainer. However, this discomfort usually subsides after a short period, and patients often get used to the retainer quickly.
Challenges with Oral Hygiene
Because the retainer is bonded to the back of the teeth, cleaning it can be more challenging than a removable retainer. Patients may need extra care to ensure the retainer remains clean and plaque-free when brushing. Your orthodontist can provide advice on the best tools to use for cleaning around the fixed retainer.
Is the V-loop Lingual Retainer Right for You?
Who Should Consider It?
The V-loop lingual retainer is suitable for individuals who have completed their orthodontic treatment and want to maintain the results over time. It is particularly beneficial for those who prefer a discreet, permanent option to retain alignment without the hassle of removable devices.
Factors to Consider
Before opting for a V-loop lingual retainer, it's essential to consult with your orthodontist. Factors such as your oral health, the severity of your misalignment, and personal preferences will all play a role in determining whether this retainer is the best option for you.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the V-loop lingual retainer offers a discreet, durable, and effective solution for maintaining the results of orthodontic treatment. Its permanent nature and aesthetic appeal make it a popular choice among individuals who want to avoid the inconvenience of removable retainers while ensuring their teeth stay aligned. If you’re considering options for post-brace care, the V-loop lingual retainer might be the right choice to help you preserve your perfect smile.
Why Dental Care Matters
The health of your teeth and gums goes far beyond just having a pretty smile. Proper dental care helps prevent a variety of oral health issues, from cavities and gum disease to more serious conditions like tooth loss and oral cancer. A good dentist doesn’t just fix problems—they help you prevent them, ensuring that you maintain a healthy mouth for years to come.
Regular dental visits also contribute to your overall health. Research has shown that poor oral health is linked to systemic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and even pregnancy complications. This makes routine dental visits an important part of not just your oral health but your general well-being as well.
Expert Care at West Covina Dentistry
When you choose West Covina Dentistry, you’re entrusting your dental care to professionals who prioritize patient comfort, education, and advanced treatments. Here’s a look at some of the services you can expect from West Covina’s expert dentists.
Comprehensive Dental Exams and Cleanings
Routine checkups are at the core of dental health. West Covina Dentistry offers thorough exams and professional cleanings to help you stay on top of your oral health. Regular cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup that you may not be able to address at home, preventing cavities and gum disease. During your exam, your dentist will check for signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues. Early detection allows for more effective and less invasive treatments.
Cosmetic Dentistry: Enhancing Your Smile
If you’re not happy with the appearance of your smile, cosmetic dentistry can provide life-changing solutions. West Covina Dentistry offers various cosmetic treatments designed to improve the look of your teeth, including:
Teeth Whitening: A bright smile is often considered a sign of health and beauty. If your teeth are stained or discolored due to aging, diet, or lifestyle habits, professional teeth whitening can give you a rejuvenated smile in a single visit.
Veneers: For teeth that are chipped, cracked, or uneven, dental veneers provide a natural-looking solution. These thin shells of porcelain are bonded to the front of your teeth, improving both the color and shape.
Bonding: Dental bonding is a cost-effective way to fix imperfections like chips or gaps between teeth. It’s a quick and easy procedure that can be done in one visit.
Restorative Dentistry: Bringing Your Smile Back
Accidents, decay, and age can take a toll on your teeth, but West Covina Dentistry’s restorative services can help bring back the function and appearance of your smile. Some of the restorative options include:
Fillings: If you have a cavity, fillings can prevent further decay and restore the strength of the affected tooth. West Covina Dentistry offers tooth-colored composite fillings that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth.
Crowns: For severely damaged or decayed teeth, crowns can restore their shape, strength, and function. Crowns are custom-made to fit over the entire tooth, providing a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution.
Bridges: If you’re missing one or more teeth, a dental bridge can fill the gap, restoring both the appearance of your smile and your ability to chew and speak clearly.
Implants: Dental implants are a long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. These titanium posts are surgically placed into the jawbone and topped with custom-made crowns, offering a stable, permanent replacement for natural teeth.
Preventative Care: Protecting Your Oral Health
Prevention is always better than treatment, and at West Covina Dentistry, preventative care is at the forefront of their approach. In addition to regular exams and cleanings, your dentist may recommend:
Fluoride Treatments: Fluoride strengthens tooth enamel, making it more resistant to decay. This is especially beneficial for children and those prone to cavities.
Sealants: Dental sealants are thin coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of your molars, protecting them from decay by sealing out food and bacteria.
Mouthguards: For patients involved in sports or those who grind their teeth at night, custom mouthguards can prevent tooth damage and preserve your smile.
Periodontal Care: Healthy Gums, Healthy Smile
Your gums are just as important as your teeth when it comes to maintaining oral health. Gum disease, if left untreated, can lead to tooth loss and other serious health issues. West Covina Dentistry offers comprehensive periodontal care, including scaling and root planing, to treat gum disease in its early stages. Regular gum checkups and cleanings are vital to prevent the development of periodontal issues.
Pediatric Dentistry: Care for the Whole Family
Oral health begins at an early age, and West Covina Dentistry understands the importance of making dental visits a positive experience for children. The pediatric dental team focuses on educating young patients about the importance of brushing and flossing, as well as providing preventive care such as fluoride treatments and sealants. Dental Office: Modern Treatments for a Healthier Smile
When you think about a dental office, the first image that might come to mind is a place for routine checkups or addressing painful cavities. However, modern dental offices have evolved far beyond these traditional services, offering cutting-edge treatments and advanced technologies to cater to a variety of oral health needs. From preventive care to cosmetic enhancements, today’s dental offices are committed to helping you achieve a healthier, brighter smile.
In this blog, we’ll explore the modern treatments available at a dental office, the importance of oral health, and how these innovative solutions can transform your dental experience.
The Role of a Dental Office in Oral Health
A dental office serves as the cornerstone of oral health care. It is more than just a place to fix dental issues; it’s a space where preventive care, education, and comprehensive treatments come together to ensure long-term dental wellness. Regular visits to a dental office help in:
Preventing Oral Diseases: Early detection of problems like cavities, gum disease, and oral cancer can save you from more extensive treatments in the future.
Improving Overall Health: Oral health is closely linked to overall health. Conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and even pregnancy complications have been associated with poor oral hygiene.
Enhancing Confidence: A healthy, attractive smile boosts self-esteem and improves social interactions.
Modern Treatments Offered at a Dental Office
Gone are the days when dental treatments were limited to basic procedures. Today’s dental offices are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and offer a wide array of services to cater to diverse needs. Here are some of the most popular modern treatments:
1. Preventive Dentistry
Preventive care forms the foundation of modern dentistry. Dental offices now use advanced tools and techniques to provide comprehensive preventive care, including:
Digital X-Rays: These offer detailed images with minimal radiation exposure, helping dentists detect issues like cavities and bone loss early.
Professional Cleanings: Regular cleanings remove plaque and tartar buildup, reducing the risk of gum disease.
Sealants: These are thin coatings applied to the chewing surfaces of molars to prevent cavities, especially in children.
Fluoride Treatments: Fluoride strengthens enamel and protects teeth from decay.
2. Cosmetic Dentistry
Cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of your smile. Popular treatments include:
Teeth Whitening: Professional whitening treatments provide faster and more effective results than over-the-counter products.
Veneers: Thin porcelain or composite resin shells are bonded to the front of teeth to correct imperfections like chips, stains, or gaps.
Invisalign: Clear aligners are a discreet alternative to traditional braces for straightening teeth.
3. Restorative Dentistry
Restorative dentistry addresses issues like damaged or missing teeth. Common restorative procedures include:
Dental Implants: A permanent solution for missing teeth, implants mimic the look and function of natural teeth.
Crowns and Bridges: Crowns restore the shape and function of damaged teeth, while bridges replace one or more missing teeth.
Tooth-Colored Fillings: These blend seamlessly with your natural teeth, providing a more aesthetic alternative to traditional silver fillings.
Root Canal Therapy: This treatment saves infected teeth by removing damaged tissue and sealing the tooth.
4. Orthodontics
Orthodontic treatments correct misaligned teeth and jaw issues. While traditional braces are still an option, modern dental offices offer innovative solutions like:
Invisalign Aligners: Clear, removable trays that gradually shift teeth into place.
Lingual Braces: These are attached to the back of teeth, making them less visible.
Self-Ligating Braces: These use a sliding mechanism to reduce discomfort and treatment time.
5. Periodontal Therapy
Gum health is a critical aspect of oral care. Modern dental offices provide advanced periodontal treatments, such as:
Scaling and Root Planing: A deep cleaning procedure to treat gum disease.
Laser Therapy: Minimally invasive lasers are used to remove infected tissue and promote healing.
Gum Grafting: This procedure restores receding gums, protecting tooth roots and improving aesthetics.
6. Advanced Diagnostics and Imaging
Modern dental offices leverage advanced diagnostic tools to ensure accurate treatment planning. Examples include:
3D Cone Beam CT Scans: These provide detailed 3D images of your teeth, jaw, and surrounding structures.
Intraoral Cameras: These tiny cameras allow dentists to show patients detailed images of their teeth and gums.
7. Sedation Dentistry
For patients with dental anxiety, sedation dentistry makes treatments more comfortable. Options include:
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas): A mild sedative that helps you relax during procedures.
Oral Sedation: Medication taken before the appointment to alleviate anxiety.
IV Sedation: Administered directly into the bloodstream for deeper relaxation.
The Importance of Regular Dental Visits
Routine visits to a dental office are essential for maintaining optimal oral health. Here’s why:
Early Detection: Regular checkups allow dentists to catch issues before they become severe.
Professional Cleaning: Even with diligent brushing and flossing, professional cleanings are necessary to remove stubborn plaque and tartar.
Customized Advice: Dentists provide personalized recommendations based on your oral health needs.
The Patient-Centered Approach
Modern dental offices prioritize patient comfort and convenience. This patient-centered approach includes:
Flexible Scheduling: Evening and weekend appointments cater to busy lifestyles.
Family Dentistry: Services for patients of all ages ensure comprehensive care for the whole family.
Comfortable Environment: Amenities like calming music, TVs, and even spa-like treatments enhance the patient experience.
Transparent Communication: Dentists explain procedures thoroughly and offer options to help patients make informed decisions.
Choosing the Right Dental Office
Selecting the right dental office is crucial for your oral health journey. Consider the following factors:
Reputation: Look for reviews and testimonials from other patients.
Technology: A modern dental office should utilize advanced equipment and techniques.
Services Offered: Ensure the office provides the treatments you need.
Insurance and Payment Plans: Check if they accept your insurance and offer flexible payment options.
Conclusion
A dental office today is much more than a place to fix dental problems. With a focus on prevention, aesthetics, and patient comfort, modern dental offices are transforming smiles and lives. Whether you need routine care or advanced treatments, visiting a dental office can be the first step toward achieving a healthier, more confident smile. Don’t wait—schedule an appointment with your local dental office and take the next step toward optimal oral health!
