Alus has absolutely no idea. I think he's definitely a "romanticist", but the idea of "romance" and "sex" are separate concepts to him. "Romance" is about flowery poetry about how happy someone makes you, declaring your loyalty to protecting them, dancing and holding hands, dramatic declarations of affection. It's more than what's socially acceptable for "just friends", while still not being sexual; It's the stuff you see in Disney-fairy-tale-esque romance stories, nothing that goes beyond PG rating. Familial, but not quite blood-family, either. "Sex" is something that almost never enters his mind unless it's literally forced into there, usually by it coming up randomly in conversation by someone else like this. I'm not really good about queer labels (I hate using them for myself, in real life) but I think this is most similar to what many people regard as the concept of "queerplatonic"? However, I think the entire topic is difficult; I find it extremely frustrating that many people think the word "romantic" is inherently always related to sexualization, since the word "romanticist" means a love for the dramatic and beautiful. This is semantics though - this is an argument I have no interest in indulging, bc anything seriously discussing asexuality on the internet tends to be fucking miserable with how allosexual people stomp all over anything an ace person has to say almost every time. ALL OF THAT BEING SAID, Alus may one day experience sexual attraction. In my head, he's a demisexual or other form of graysexual sub-label. Sexuality is not something he's concerned with, but that doesn't mean he'll never be sexually attracted to someone. He might just need to meet the right person in the right context. I think he'd be perfectly happy in a sexless marriage too, though.

He's bi/pan-romantic. He only thinks his type is the super formal nobly beautiful type since that's what he looks up to, but he'd get along way better with someone who doesn't make him hold his breath - someone messy and informal. It's more familiar to him with his upbringing as a poor traveling merchant's kid, as well.

Dawntrails Theory: Kona(?) Is A Student of Baldesion.

Hear me out I thought of this last night at 4am.

So.... My theory is simple. Wuk Lamat's brother (that Sharlyan Scholar) is or tried to join the Students of Baldesion at some point. Why is it the people contacted originally be Galuf?, as in the head of the Students? It's like this is who the Dawn Servant thinks is the head of Sharlyan and not the forum. Or the Path of the Twelve/Original Scions of the Seventh Dawn?

And who else would happily hide the identity of some random kid? Gaulf.

It would make sense why Erenville (and Wuk) went via the Students for this. They already assumed that the Students would know of the situation (forgetting Eureka happened). And they would have the skills and knowledge to join. Gaulf was a bit of an adventurous Archon (if im remembering my lore correctly) so it's no surprise he had contact with Tural and his successors would be the people to go to.

It could explain why the only people outside of the void crew who we have focused on the Students (Snoe and G'raha in Myths of the Realm as well as Krile in the MSQ) and their restoration - what if post 7.0 we have Kona join the Students again, as he wanted to when at school.

My only question to this right now is - How old is that letter to Gaulf? Is it pre - Corvos (see Wuk mentioning the Empire's fall travelling to Tural, they would know of the Legion murdering of the G Tribe I know its a genocide but I can't remember if lore calls it that) or was it sent in ARR and times with Eureka and that's why it's destroyed (not just with age)

Another thing re x reader fics: if you're writing fic for an RPG and going for the same immersive self-insert feel of canon, you can try first person. Second person and x reader ask the reader to be the author's self insert, which may or may not actually work out. First person, on the other hand, does a great job of getting the reader aligned with the author's self insert, no matter if they're alike or not. First person is also the closest literary voice to the Player Character POV that most RPG video games use.
