Hi, LoreKeeper. I was thinking... 2 years ago, I finished the story "The Mermaid's Tale" during this update back in 2023, could you gave me a recap about what happened to White/Black Pearl Cookie?
A Mermaid's Tale Recap/The Origins of Black Pearl Cookie
A Mermaids Tale is the story of how the kind and gentle mermaid, White Pearl Cookie, descended into a bitter siren of hate named Black Pearl Cookie.
History Archive
White Pearl Cookie wakes on the day of her Sea Foam Rite ceremony; a ceremony where gem mermaids get their special powers from the Almighty Sea. But, instead, the Sea herself visits White Pearl Cookie! The sea tells her that she is a small moon and will shine brightest when there is no light. Before the Almighty Sea can finish, she is cut short. At the end of the ceremony, despite the great events, White Pearl Cookie doesn't gain any powers. Devastated and overwhelmed, White Pearl Cookie swims off. Frilled Jellyfish follows in pursuit, desperate to make sure her lady is okay. But, to their shock and horror, White Pearl Cookie is captured by pirates!
_____________________________
White Pearl Cookie's sister's devise a plan to go save their baby sister. On the ship, a cookie named Abalone devises a plan. When the eclipse comes, the cookies of the sea will be at it's weakest, and that's when he and his crew will rob the sea of its riches. Afyer meeting White Pearl Cookie and finding out the gem mermaids are real, he plans to captute the rest of them. Another Cookie, Lord Oyster (just.. Lord Oyster. 'Not Lord Oyster Cookie'), ends up meeting White Pearl Cookie in the tank that she is trapped in. White Pearl Cookie and Lord Oyster talk one-on-one, and the two get along. He visits her more and more, and eventually, White Pearl Cookie tries her best to get Lord Oyster to set her free and just before he can give an answer, the boat is attacked by White Pearl Cookie's oldest sister, Crimson Coral Cookie!
Lord Oyster realizes that the only way to get Crimson Coral Cookie to stop is if he frees White Pearl Cookie. So, he goes against hid captains wishes and pushes her tank into the water.
______________________________
White Pearl Cookie happily reunites with her eldest sister, but Crimson Coral Cookie wants to destroy the boat and those cookies once and for all. White Pearl Cookie stops her, as she doesn't want to hurt Lord Oyster. Crimson Coral Cookie understands and her and her sister retreat.
Meanwhile, on the ship, the crew is thankful thst Lord Oyster's thinking managed to save the ship. The cookies are also starting to question Captain Abalone Cookie after they realized that he would rather save the goods than his own crew-mates. Fearing a mutiny, Abalone Cookie kicks Lord Oyster off of the ship, and Lord Oyster falls into the ocean.
______________________
While in the ocean, White Pearl Cookie spits him and gives him the ability to breathe underwater, as well as not making his dough soggy. The two go on to have a cute little date, and White Pearl Cookie tells him about her and the Gem mermaids. The two promise to meet again in the future.
When Lord Oyster reminds White Pearl Cookie of the eclipse, White Pearl Cookie starts talking about how she fears that the sea doesn't truly love her, but Lord Oyster reminds her that the sea called her "Little Moon", and how she can shine in her own. He then calls her, "My Moon." Touched by his words, White Pearl Cookie gives Lord Oyster the most important thing to her; her White Pearl. With it, Lord Oyster won't turn soggy in the sea. She says that once he has completed all his goals, they will be able to meet again.
_____________________________
Lord Oyster's words ring in White Pearl Cookie's head, so she swims to the Tear to find answers. She touches the Pearl to speak with the Almighty Sea and feels power surge within her, and the Almighty Sea herself speaks to her. The Sea tells her that her power allows her to shine when there is no light. That gave White Pearl Cookie courage.
But, her happiness couldn't last for long, because the eclipse was beginning. And that's when Abalone Cookie and his crew attacked, but her sisters managed to drive them away. The Sea basically hypes White Pearl up as that's happening.
_____________________________
Abalone Cookie, wanting to get back to capturing the mermaids, decides to buy the pearl off of Lord Oyster and use it to convince the other sailors to go along with capturing the gem mermaids. While Lord Oyster refuses, he eventually does accept Abalone's offer, with the promise that it will bring his family out of it's slump.
Eventually, Abalone succeeds on convincing the other sailors, and he goes back with his crew to capture the mermaids. Lord Oyster hears him and rushes to see White Pearl Cookie.
______________________
As another eclipse happens and the gem mermaids are at their weakest , Abalone and his crew strike again. White Pearl Cookie's sister's order her to stay hidden, as she is the weakest of them, but she feels bad and like she could do more to help, so she disobeys their wishes. She swims to the surface to help two young mermaids, but comes across Frilled Jellyfish Cookie. Frilled Jellyfish Cookie follows her and the mermaids she was bringing back to safety. She tries to convince White Pearl that it's dangerous to go back up, but it's no use. In her anger, White Pearl Cookie lashes out at Frilled Jellyfish and swims off to the Tear to gain more power. But, a land Cookie had followed her there.
Frilled Jellyfish Cookie swoops in coming to fight him off with her lady. But, as she does, a horrible accident happens; Frilled Jellyfish Cookie is stabbed through the chest by a spear. In her dying moments, Frilled Jellyfish Cookie assures her thar Jellyfish never truly die, and that she'll be back. Still, White Pearl Cookie had just lost her closest friend. But, knowing that she will one day return gives White Pearl Cookie the courage to swim yp to the surface once more to try and take on the attackers. But, she is captured by Abalone Cookie. And, while she is in the net, she sees her Pearl. The Pearl that she gave to Lord Oyster.
_________________
Lord Oyster is finally able to meet up with White Pearl Cookie after White Pearl manages to escape the net. He tries his best to apologize and explain, but it doesn't work, as he has betrayed her so deeply. She leaves him out at sea, vowing to never meet him again.
_____________
White Pearl Cookie is captured (again) by Abalone Cookie. Crimson Coral Cookie comes to her rescue, but instead of waiting to be saved, White Pearl Cookie actively chooses to fight alongside her sisters. But, their energy wanes, and it seems that all hope is lost. But, lucky for them, the Almighty Sea was listening. With the sound if war and the tears of pearls, the Almight Sea rises, and makes her last attempt to reach the moon.
The sea rises higher and higher up into the heavens. But, just as she is about to touch her moon, the fatal mistake of dropping her sword comes back to bite her, and her entire body freezes, which creates the Tower of the Frozen Waves.
White Pearl Cookie realizes that, if she wants to defeat these cookies, she'll need the strength of the sea.
_________________________
White Pearl Cookie goes to the Tear for a final time. Pleading to the Almighty Sea, she touches the Pearl. But, the grief and pain of the Almighty Sea combined with her own is too much to bare, and it transforms her into a Siren of bitterness, power, and hate. A siren named Black Pearl Cookie.

With Black Pearl Cookie's great power, she destroys everything. The land cookies, Tearcrown- everything. Her sisters (and revived Frilled Jellyfish Cookie) were forced to flee from their transformed sister's wrath.
With that, Black Pearl Cookie no longer felt any love in her heart. Only a bitter hatred for Cookie Kind. Now, she lays in the Duskgloom Sea, sinking any ship that comes to her kingdom of solitude.

Hearing about how people are apparently using realism as a means to put down your comic really reminds me of how WC fans use realism as an argument as to why characters like Briarlight get the treatment they get and I've just always viewed it as a covert argument to spout gross views on minorities and exclude representation for them from media. Having certain fantasy elements is more than acceptable but the moment you want disability or gay rep? "Nope, not allowed because that's not realistic!"
Yep, exactly. It's funny - as in frustrating - how many times people will bring up real cat biology as an argument as to why Briarlight should not have existed for as long as she did. Yet, we're talking about a universe where there's cat spectres attacking and killing some characters and the cats have an encyclopedic knowledge of herbs and their properties.
These are major indicators that the Erins don't care about realism and yet people try and force the narrative anyway because hey, being outwardly bigoted isn't 'cool' nowadays so we have to try and slip under the radar. Like we don't hear the exact same arguments from conservative, right-wing dipshits to explain censorship in the wider media.
And there's individuals who don't realise how reductive they sound while trying to slap a certain allegation on us. Like how we apparently hate men because 'all of our bad guys are men' (never mind we have female villains too lol) and whatever 'good' male characters we have don't count for various, discriminatory reasons. We'll be called the misandrists in the situation and then the take that Fade 'doesn't count' as a good guy because he's 'weak and pathetic' will be uttered in the exact same breath.
I mean, idk about y'all but saying that a guy - especially a child who is still growing and developing - doesn't count as solid male representation unless he's buff and competent sounds a lot like misandry to me.
Same argument goes for Obsidian and Opal, who also don't count because... they're old.
Storm and Diamond are also protagonists and present as masculine but they are also discounted due to being gnc and trans respectively.
Huh. Bit of a pattern here.
I know I'm sort of veering away from anon's original point but the bottom line is: trying to disguise your narrow-mindedness as concerns and valid talking points isn't fooling anybody. Especially when you slip up in the same sentence. It's a practice as old as time. A lot of us are wise to it. lol - RJ

ik that u arent answering questions rn but if u have the time to answer this one feel free 2 do so no rush
what would a family gathering be like for shadow milk cookie and aquamarine cookie? are the gem tearcrown mermaids joining and are the rest of the beasts joining too? (u can pick the setting of the gathering)
.... Um!
Tearcrown mermaids are joining for sure! They're Aquamarine Cookie's sisters, of course they'll be there!
The beasts, however, won't be joining, Shadow Milk Cookie doesn't really consider them "family" per say, moreso old friends if anything above "colleagues" at all. His minions are far more likely to be present at the gathering. Black Sapphire Cookie wants to flirt with Gold Citrine Cookie and if they're both coming that means they're leaving Candy Apple Cookie without supervision. God FORBID they leave Candy Apple Cookie without supervision.
But um...! Since the Gems Mermaids are gonna be there, so will Black Pearl, and that means the Ivory Dragon is joining too, and...! They don't really like each other..!
There's gonna be some tension the entire gathering, that's for sure.

How did Mermaid Y/N Cookie lose their voice?
Oh right, I had to forgo that bit about Mercookie Y/N a bit for Mermaid’s Lament, but essentially…
You had ran afoul of some of Abalone Cookie’s crew after they caught wind of your singing. It was endearing to them and would lead up to their attempted capture of you.
An horrific accident would occur where a crew cookie miscalculated their throw and struck you right in the throat, not enough to go though, but it took your voice away as a result.
It’s still a touchy subject with you, the other mercookies don’t want to bring it up out of respect for you and your now condition. Frilled Jellyfish and White Pearl Cookie are the most attentive, making sure if you’re okay.

What implications are you taking about? (With the Dark Necrobat and Zero post)?
(Link to the thread in question for context) Alright, so first things first: One thing about Necrobat calling Zero his brother is that there are are several implications that can be drawn from it. He could be speaking in the context that they are both technically mavericks (or that they were mavericks at one point, in Zero's case), or that they both have a connection to the Maverick Virus. There's also the possibility that he's talking about how they both have served under Sigma, only to be abandoned by him in some regard (for Dark Necrobat's, it was when Sigma ditched him for three years, despite being his creator. As for Zero, it would be when Sigma betrayed the Hunters and started his rebellion against the Hunters). However, the conclusion I was referring to is something quite different. As @absolutely-normal-about-x pointed out, Dark Necrobat was created by Sigma, thus making Sigma his father in that context. However, in a way, he also "created" Zero: he took that violent maverick who single-handedly killed an entire unit's worth of Hunters and gave him the opportunity to go beyond both his programming and the virus that was put into him. He gave him the chance to use his fighting prowess for good, rather than senseless bloodshed. The fact is, without Sigma, there is a good chance Zero would not be the person he is when he meets Dark Necrobat. He built him up, shaped him. And doesn't that sound an awful lot like something a father would do?
So to me, it sounds entirely plausible that when Necrobat calls Zero "brother", he means it in a literal sense: he's saying that both he and Zero share a father in Sigma. Now here's the thing about that: that is terrifying. Let's think about it for a second. The concept of a father's sins affecting the generations to come is something that is everywhere in the Mega Man franchise:
Dr. Light and Dr. Wily can't seem to resolve their differences (partially because Light doesn't know how to cut the latter out of his life, and partially because Wily is a petty old man who has apparently decided to hold animosity against Light until the day he dies), and now Rock is doomed to fight Wily's robots until he either dies or gives up - and the case of the latter, he ends up becoming Quint.
Bass was built so that Wily could show up Light by making a better Super Fighting Robot, while also serving the function of taking out Mega Man. But he can't "be the strongest" or "destroy Mega Man", simply because Rock is, and likely always will be, better than him in some aspect that allows him to keep on beating Bass. Which means Bass is set to spend his life chasing an unattainable goal.
And speaking of Wily having jacked up kids, let's circle back to Zero: the guy was built to kill X as soon as he climbed out the cradle. But Wily made Zero too violent to him to handle, and was forced to seal him up. So Zero ends up missing out on an entire century. And you know how the Maverick Virus started with Wily putting it into him? It doesn't go away. No matter how many mavericks are taken out, no matter how many attempts are made at eradicating the virus, it just keeps coming back. Eventually, it gets to the point where Zero seals himself up so that his body can be studied in the hopes of some sort of cure being found. But if there's anything the Mega Man Zero series has taught us, it's that even that wasn't enough - Zero's sacrifice starts the domino effect that leads to the Elf Wars and the rest of that series. And the only way for him to fix everything is for him to die alongside Dr. Weil of all people.
But wouldn't you know it, that's not enough either! The world goes through more suffering in the ZX series once biometals come on the scene. And that can be traced back to the existence of reploids, which - oh, well would you look at that! We've come right back to Light and Wily!
And going back to the Zero series for a second, we've got Omega and Weil. Good grief. You've got the false messiah and the false god he props up. The tool and the man who wields it. Not exactly the healthiest dynamics to draw from, to say the least.
Not even alternate timelines are safe from this concept. The Navi Projects in Mega Man Battle Network had consequences for everybody involved and then some. And Mega Man Legends doesn't escape this, either: everything changes forever for Volnutt after he gets tangled up with the Elysians.
But, just to make sure we don't stray too far: this applies to Dark Necrobat and Sigma, as well. Sigma, the start of almost every major Maverick War in the series. And Dark Necrobat, the son who became a maverick despite being abandoned. The apple certainly didn't fall far from the tree.
Long story short, to say that someone is somebody else's "father" in the Mega Man franchise doesn't simply mean "that's the source of half their genes" or "the progenitor". No, it means "This is the source of everything about this person, both good and - especially, even - bad." But then that begs the question. Does Dark Necrobat have a point when he implies that Sigma is Zero's father? Or does Zero have a chance of defying the precedent set and rising above all of this? If the fact that Sigma remains a thorn in the Hunters' side for almost every X game ("Command Mission" being the exception) is anything to go off of, then the answer is that Zero's well past the point of screwed. But if we throw X5's bad ending in...
...it becomes even more clear.
#thank you for your question!#I hope I was able to answer it - I know I went off on a whole tangent lol#God bless you <3#megaman#megaman classic#megaman x#zero megaman#dark necrobat#sigma megaman#dr. wily#dr. light#questions#essay#opal speaks

Mineral Swag Tournament Finals

Okay y'all, this is it. The FINAL for the Mineral Swag Tournament.

Fluorite.
Fluorite is a fantastic mineral. It would not have gotten this far otherwise. It comes in a ton of colors, it naturally forms both octahedra and cubes (and massive deposits), and it show brilliant bright blue color under UV light. Fluorescence (the phenomena) is named that because of fluorite!

It also does this fun thing (that other minerals do as well, but it is common among fluorite) where it changes color as it forms because of changing impurities in the solution from which it grows! Elements like iron, copper, manganese, chromium (and more!) can replace individual ions in fluorite's chemical structure and cause the light to reflect different wavelengths and we therefore see that as a different color. This can also happen if a fluorite ion is missing because the sample has been irradiated (for example) and NOTHING replaces it and so the light still reflects in a different way! That is one of the ways we get purple fluorite and this method of producing color is known as color centers.

Of course, not all fluorite fluoresces. Not all fluorite forms cubes or octahedra. Some fluorite is colorless. Some of it looks like an ugly little piece of translucent rock. Or a vein of purple mineral in a crack between two other rocks. It would be irresponsible for me to insinuate that all fluorite is this majestic.
But there are some properties that you will always find in fluorite. It has four directions of cleavage. It is the defining mineral for a 4 on the Mohs hardness scale. It will always be made of calcium and fluoride in a 1:2 ratio. These things are some of what define fluorite as a distinct mineral!
Opal.

Opal is a beautiful gemstone. Please note that I did not call it a "beautiful mineral" because it is not technically a mineral. It is a solid, inorganic substance with a defined chemical formula, but it lacks the specific crystal structure which minerals MUST have to be considered a mineral.
This crystal structure is the entire reason why fluorite is capable of forming cubes and octahedra. And why garnet forms dodecahedra and beryl forms columns and so on. Opal only comes in those fun little oval shaped stones because it was cut that way! Fluorite forms cubes because it just knows how. Otherwise, opal forms shapeless masses that fracture rather than cleave (fluorite cleaves--four ways). That being said, opal's lack of crystal structure allows it to sometimes be iridescent.
After all, there is a reason opal made it this far. When it shines, it is beautiful. There are several varieties of precious opal (opal that displays its trademark play-of-color/iridescence) and they are all very fun to look at. These precious opals are made of microscopic silica spheres that light reflects off of in weird ways and causes opal to look like it is glittering with a dozen different colors.
However, one would be remiss to forget common opal! Some opal is milky white or a translucent blue, and if you're going to love opal at her fire opal, you better also love her at her common opal.

Here are some raw pieces of opal (common opal on the left). Note how they break irregularly. They have conchoidal fracture, which both quartz and normal glass (all of which are just silica) also have. I personally think conchoidal fracture is pretty neat.
Also, while the opals on the right would still be considered precious opal, they are what the average person is likely to find. Just little bits of iridescence here and there.
And, like fluorite, while not all opals have all of the cool features, they do have some similarities. They will always have conchoidal fracture if they break. And they will always be made of hydrated SiO2.
...That's all I have for these guys, I think! I hope I have been as impartial (and accurate) as possible while presenting these, your FINAL mineral swag contestants. If you have any questions or anything, let me know. The Rock Swag Tournament will start shortly after this concludes! Submit your rocks here! And specific rock formations or named rock varieties here!

Hello! Have you done a cookie biology post on aquatic cookies yet? I will be very grateful if you make one as I am very very very normal about them fishes
That's a complicated one, since the ocean has many different flavors living in it. Gem mermaids, drinks, liquids, corals, etc. I can't do a biology post on like the other ones, since there isn't just one exact flavor. BUT, I can do one that isn't related to their flavors!
Cookie Biology 101: Aquatic Cookies
Aquatic Cookies are cookies who are able to live underwater.

The most notable thing about aquatic cookies is the fact that they are unable to become soggy. You know how in order to go into water, cookies have to rub a liquid on their dough to not become soggy? Aquatic cookies are born with that secretion, which is how they never get soggy. (No, land cookies are not killing aquatic cookies to gain this moisture. It's artificially made in a lab, so while it isn't the exact same as aquatic cookies, it's very similar).
There are other ways aquatic cookies are built for the water as well. All Aquatic cookies have gills, which allows them to breathe underwater. A lot of them also have fish tails and fins, which makes them able to swim quickly under the water. The ocean has many ingredients, but a common ingredient is the non-cookie sea creatures around the area. An example of this would be Sorbet Shark Cookie, who was baked (technically boiled) with a Sorbet Icing Fish, and Frilled Jellyfish Cookie, who was boiled with Frilled Jellyfish. The more aquatic creatures found in their dough, the more fish-like they are. This rule can even sometimes apply to land cookies, but they won't be able to breath underwater, and can still become soggy. Instead, they might just have fish hair or some fins (like Captain Caviar Cookie).
In one biology post, I mentioned how cookies bake their young through ovens, but they always still come out a bit soft. In the other, I talk about how, in order to become crispier, the cookies need a lot of sunlight. If they are in an area that doesn't have sunlight, they use subsitutes like fire.
Aquatic cookies who live in the deeper parts of the ocean obviously don't have fire, and they don't have access to the sun either. So, instead, these cookies boil they're young, and will repeatedly boil them throughout their child years in order to become healthy and crispy. Explained more here.

God the coments under this poll are painful to read
Like I was originally gonna vote Opal but Korra gets a pity vote bcs Jesus Christ people suck.
And though most comments are against Korra, I can't help but see people talking about how Opal has 'anger issues' and how she was mean to Bolin in B4 or how Pema 'stole' a grown ass man and how she's a homewrecker.
And, shockingly, no comments about Bolin assaulting and harassing Ginger, or about him joining literal Nazi-Soviet standins, etc.
Like, don't get me wrong, I love Bolin, but I can't help notice the obvious freepass he is being given here for some reason.

how would aquamarine's sisters react to shadow milk cookie? i saw your post earlier but it seemed pretty crimson coral centric so im curious how each individual sister would feel about their sister's husband (?)
they don't take it too well. Gonna this is a bit short I hope you don't mind
Gold Citrine is trying to be supportive but. It's kind of hard to. Yeah it's land cookie but her sister seems happy...! And it hasn't caused any problems...! Yet.....! She's curious even if she knows the relationship is bad, or at least considered that way.
Mystic Opal isn't really interested? I think she can tell it's not going bad, to say. Shadow Milk hasn't upset Aquamarine so she's just letting it slide. So long as her sister remains well. At most I can see her vaguely threating Shadow Milk.
Black Pearl is um.... Well Black Pearl is Black Pearl. I don't think she'd be happy about it. Having cookies tear everything you've ever loved apart and then finding out your sister is dating one wouldn't be pleasant news.
kinda hypocritical of you bp you're married to longan dragon...! /SILLY
And... Crimson Coral isn't supportive of the relationship. Land cookies pillaged the entirety of tearcrown. Many mermaids died that day. While she might've tolerated the relationship before the incident, after it she just simply can't afford to. Don't get her wrong, she loves Aquamarine and wishes only the best for her. All she wants is just for her sister to be safe, and Cc can't ensure it when Aquamarine is so close to someone so dangerous.

thoughts on the mer-cookies? 🎤 -🦆 Anon
They’re beautiful, all of them. I can’t exactly pick one over the other, they all have something that makes them unique. Gold Citrine is the ditzy type, Aquamarine is gentle and sweet, Mystic Opal is more withdrawn but I like the quiet aspect to her, Frilled Jellyfish is like a maid and the way she speaks is adorable, White Pearl is so cute and bright during this period of time, and Crimson Coral is looking pretty cool with that trident and seahorse!
Y/N Cookie: (writes on a water proof board) You six are the most jealous sea cookies I’ve met
