Revitalizing Urban Spaces: Affordable Housing Solutions for Homelessness
Revitalizing Urban Spaces: A Solution to Affordability and Homelessness In numerous American cities, we witness an alarming trend: downtown office buildings stand largely vacant, their absence of occupants straining local businesses that once thrived. Concurrently, countless individuals, unable to secure affordable housing, find themselves sleeping on the streets. Fortunately, the solutions to…

i do wish people would offer more coherent reasons for people to switch to Linux other than "Hurr durr AI scary bad" or some vague security thing that isn't relevant to 90% of people who use a computer.
"Windows is literally malware" it is a kind of to moderately invasive operating system that you don't like. incidentally it's also what the vast majority of people use!
have you maybe considered more grounded approaches like "if your pc is below windows 11 specs try Linux instead of throwing it out!" or "linux is fun!" or "lots of things run on linux so getting familiar with it can be useful" or "it can really speed up an old computer"
anyway shout-out to every time a Tumblr panic campaign "windows is EVIL and is going to steal ALL your data you need to delete it RIGHT NOW because AI and MALWARE" post goes around and then nothing happens except windows gets a little more invasive in a way that people don't really care about or notice

Support for Windows 10 ends on October 14, 2025.
Microsoft wants you to buy a new computer.
But what if you could make your current one fast and secure again?
If you bought your computer after 2010, there's most likely no reason to throw it out. By just installing an up-to-date Linux operating system you can keep using it for years to come.
Installing an operating system may sound difficult, but you don't have to do it alone. With any luck, there are people in your area ready to help!
5 Reasons to upgrade your old computer to Linux
No New Hardware, No Licensing Costs A new laptop costs a lot of money, but several Linux operating systems are available for free. Software updates are also free, forever. You can of course show your support with donations!
Enhanced Privacy Windows comes with lots of ads and spyware. This slows down your computer, lets companies spy on you, and increases your energy bills.
Good For The Planet Production of a computer accounts for 75+% of carbon emissions over its lifecycle. Keeping a functioning device longer is a hugely effective way to reduce emissions. With a Linux operating system you can use your device longer.
Community & Professional Support There are local repair cafes and independent, professional services and computer shops available for providing you help. You can find support in online forums, too.
Better User Control Linux grants you the four freedoms of software. You are free to use, study, share, and improve the program, for as long as you wish. You are in control of your device.

So, with Chapter 7 being (another) event of Cataclysmic proportions on a global scale, I can't help but wonder about the direct fallout to the whole thing, be it the world's opinion on Malleus and the fae, how S.T.Y.X. will handle everything....
...and whether we may end up meeting Mrs. Rosehearts by the end of the book or not.
Since she is a famous magical healer/doctor, and her son is currently on Sage's Island, it'd make sense for her to work alongside other paramedics when help finally breaches the barrier (especially considering how she doesn't take no for an answer).
The main problem is that, after finally dealing with an overblot of such magnitude, the last thing anyone needs is another potentially triggering situation (and we saw what happened with poor Trey in Riddle's dream).
So here are my ideas:
1- Mrs. Rosehearts makes an appearance, but manages to keep things professional and just hugs her son before going her merry way (she's wondering why so many students are glaring at her, though);
2- Mrs. Rosehearts attempted to join the paramedics, but S.T.Y.X. vetoed the idea and were quite adamant about it;
3- Mrs. Rosehearts makes an appearance, but the other members of the cast hide Riddle from her (he's so tiny he can just stay behind Adeuce and be done with it) while Chen'ya kidnaps Trey and takes him to Heartslabyul to bake the stress away;
4- Mrs. Rosehearts makes an appearance, causing Adeuce to panic and throw Riddle out of the window (the Tweels had to fish him out of the lake);
5- A combination of options 3 and 4: Adeuce throws Riddle out of the window, but Cater manages to save him. Now Riddle is hiding behind Leona or Idia while Cater scolds the freshmen;
6- Idia undergoes a character development arc and stands up against a Karen (he just fought Malleus Freaking Draconia, he's not afraid of her).

So I've recently been finally getting around to something I've wanted to do for a few years: switching to Linux.
To safely test out this process before applying it to my main tower machine, I decided to first do the switch over on an old Mac Mini which had a lot to gain from this as it was stuck on an outdated and unsupported version of MacOS.
But of course this all involved shuffling around a lot of old data and making sure everything was backed up. And here's where the story begins.
I backed up the Mini's MacOS install to its own partition on an external backup drive shared by my Windows tower machine. Once done, I shrank it to only the used size( which was complicated in its own right for reasons I'll explain shortly,) and then wanted to move it to the end of the drive so I could expand the Windows partition back out to fill the unused space.
Problem #1: MacOS's Disk Utility is so stripped down and lacking in functionality in the name of gloss, it literally cannot work with unallocated space on a drive in any way. You cannot see unallocated space, and you cannot create it. Want to shrink or delete a partition? It automatically creates a new one to fill the space whether you wanted it or not. Want to make a new partition in unallocated space without wiping the whole drive? Gotta use a different OS to make a dummy partition first and then replace it in Disk Utility. And the real problem… Want to move a partition? Can't.
Problem #2: Windows's Disk Management doesn't know what HFS+ is and refuses to work with it. Windows can't even read the Mac backup partition, let alone move it. But wait! I can use EaseUS Partition Manager! …Aaand most of its essential functionality is locked behind one of its multiple paywall tiers, including the ability to work with non-Windows filesystems at all.
But what about that new Linux install on the Mini?
I run 'sudo apt-get install gparted', a FOSS program, and in less than a minute I've already got it moving the partition. No hassle. No BS.
And if this whole thing doesn't just sum up the operating system trio, I don't know what does.
