Hey there, Dolls! A minute of your time please. If ya haven’t heard, I’ve now got a subscription service through Bandcamp!

It’s got a few tiers, each with its own fun perks, but for just 5$ a month, you get my whole back catalog as well as early access to new music like my most recent album, “Hanging…” which is ONLY available through the subscription and will remain so for a while. At high levels, you get access to input on what I’m working on, credit as a Producer (I’ll even swear on a Bible that you’re an honest to goodness music producer if you want to put it on a resumé), and if you’re CRAZY and give 30$ a month I might send you something weird!

I know we’re all struggling out here, so truly no pressure if you can’t afford it. My music will continue to be available on streaming platforms and Bandcamp, and the albums that are released early through this subscription will eventually make their way to the public.

But! My goal right now is just to make 200$ a month through this. That’s only 40 people who would need to sign up at the lowest tier. I’m old and sick, with myriad issues that make touring (an already failing model for independent artists) basically impossible, so I’m hoping this can serve as a way to get a bit of financial relief and allow me to keep making my sad songs for you all.

Long time fans know I love slipping in a waltz or two, but this time I went fully overboard and made like 17 of them because it was cold and I needed a distraction.

the song that symbolizes me scrolling through queer/disability/neurodivergent Tumblr the most (imho)

as a young person coming from a conservative upbringing, and having strong feelings about not pushing people to the sidelines because of their background, the political nature of Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince (Taylor Swift) attracts my attention when looking at other people's experiences.

the disappointment about American politics, a central topic seen in the lyrics, parallels the dismay I personally feel when I see youse make very valid points about our fundamental dignity and understanding being thrown straight into the dust. imagery picturing the very unfair high school politics. the lyric "boys will be boys then, where are the wise men" looks at some people (perhaps even the majority of society) do not even bother to include us in conversations even as full-grown adults.

however, the stereo beats in the song, and the calmer interlude around the 3rd min before the beat picks up again, imo feels like running away aimlessly from political challenges, hoping to catch a lucky break no matter how hopeless the odds seem to be. the random interjections of "hey" imitate voices that try to pull her back, or political voices from the opposition trying to rally an audience. this mirrors people's relationship with Tumblr, as reading these posts does give me a small glimmer of hope that change can be enacted if we run (or walk, or wheel, or however you get around!) fast enough and start to illustrate change.

in summary, the numerous analogies made between high school politics and American politics in the Trump era complement someone who considers themselves strong willed trying to run in hopes of a lucky break from desperation.

I want Swifities, white Swifities in particular, to understand how incredibly privileged it is to essentially say, “she said she is the happiest she’s ever been can we please shut up now?” My answer to this question is no, and here’s why.

This mentality of “she’s happy so I’m happy” dismisses what POC, Black women, and the Jewish and queer communities are trying to say and get people to understand. It gives Taylor the excuse to do whatever she wants without considering the consequences, repercussions, or harm her actions cause fans within those marginalized communities.

If I bring someone into my community who says and does problematic things that makes other members of my community uncomfortable, then I have a duty to call in that person or choose not to associate with them anymore.

Taylor is not beyond critique and judgement. You can wish for someone’s happiness while also letting them know hey this is a problem, can you please address it. She put herself into this position after the Miss Americana documentary where she wanted to be on the right side of history then turning her back on everything she promised or doing the bare minimum.

I would also like to mention that her speech before playing Question..? seemed very pointed and truly sounded like, “I see what you’re saying online and here is my statement: I’m happy so please leave me alone.” This is a complete slap in the face to the marginalized communities who are trying to call you in and hold you accountable and seems like a pretty convenient out to try to sweep this under the rug. It also panders to the most toxic portion of the Swiftie fandom and essentially gives them permission to be nasty to Swifties who belong to those marginalized communities.

All people want Taylor to do is listen to what they’re saying, sit in her discomfort, think and reflect on what is happening, then take meaningful action. She did it when people called her out for fatphobia with “Anti-hero” and she responded by changing her video, I really don’t understand why this has to be any different.

Lastly, feminism is not feminism if it’s not intersectional. Any “feminism” that doesn’t include POC, Indigenous, disabled, the queer and transgender communities is white feminism. Period.

Hi Swiftie Fandom 👋🏻

I’m a little part of this fandom, and I’m pretty multi-fandom at this point. But one of my favorite parts of the Swiftie fandom is selfie nights. @swiftiesofcolor organize three different selfie nights a month for marginalized groups within the fandom: disabled, LGBTQIA, and POC. I fall into two of those categories and try to be a support for the third category. These nights are so important for a small but mighty part of the fandom. And as someone who’s never had a Taylor notice, I think the coolest kind would be a selfie from one of these nights where I get to celebrate my differences.

But. Tonight, while scrolling through my dashboard, liking all these wonderful disabled selfies, there would be small stretches of self-reblogged selfies. These had no indication of being part of the night, nor did these people seem to be acknowledging the night. I know self-reblogging is a thing that isn’t going to go away. People are going to do it as long as it gets them noticed. But all I ask is that you give us three nights. Just three nights to be the only selfies Taylor may see. Hey, maybe even participate if you’re disabled, queer, or POC. Or just like and/or reblog the other selfies. Because Taylor could like your reblog and then you and that person would both get a notice!

Basically, to sum up a long post, selfie nights mean a lot to a few oft overlooked groups and all we ask is that you respect them. Thank you!
