scrolling through the palworld tag and it's amazing how many people are still calling it a scummy cash grab fueled by AI

first of all the AI thing was a baseless rumor, easily debunked by the fact that the first trailer for the game (which included the already-finalized designs of most of the pals available at launch) came out before generative AI was really a thing

and secondly like. a "scummy cash grab". that's a weird thing to say about an indie team that's putting out frankly impressive amounts of content for HALF the price of a pokemon game, and without charging me a monthly subscription to connect with others online

#and frankly I just Don't Care if some of the creature designs are blatant pokemon ripoffs #originality is overrated #what's more important is that the game is fun #and that it runs properly!#i've been playing palworld for quite a while now on sub-optimal hardware #and just last night it unexpectedly crashed for the first (and so far only) time #do you know how many times pokemon scarlet has crashed on me?#more than that #the first couple days of trying to play it I had to re-download the entire thing #which took hours each time cuz it had only been out for like a day so EVERYONE was downloading it from the eshop #also they just added a new bunch of pals for the third time #it's not as many creatures as we normally expect from a new generation of pokemon but still #and off the top of my head #none of the newer pals look like blatant copies of a particular pokemon #someone's probably gonna call me out and mention a newer one that's egregiously pokemon-like #but all in all it seems like they're aiming for more original creature designs than what they had at launch #which is nice. but again #i really don't care that direhowl is basically lycanroc #or that cremis is basically eevee #dare i say cremis is cuter than eevee. they improved it
